More Sundown acts announced

Four new artists have been announced for this year’s Sundown Festival as the event plays host to a selection of some of the most promising young talent in the UK music scene

Joining the Saturday Main Stage line-up – which already boasts the likes of headliner Example, Rita Ora, DJ Fresh, James Arthur and Jaguar Skills, among many more – are the returning Ria Ritchie and newcomer Amplify Dot, whilst Charlie Brown and Ed Drewett will both join the Sunday Main Stage line-up, which already includes headliner Jessie J, JLS, Wiley, Union J and more

Returning to Sundown Festival after last year’s impressive performance, Ria Ritchie is a talented young singer, musician and song-writer. Having written with the likes of Plan B – who was the first to spot her talents – Craze & Hoax (Emeli Sande, Dot Rotten), Futurecut (Lily Allen, Rizzle Kicks, Olly Murs) and Ben Mark (Take That), Ria was signed to Takeover Entertainment and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and flourished through a process of incessant gigging, including supporting Tinchy Stryder, Example and Wretch32, and big things are expected for her very soon

Amplify Dot is a British rapper whose career kick-started – at just 14 years old – when she jumped on stage and blew the audience away with her impromptu performance at a Missy Elliot gig, after Missy asked if anyone in the Brixton audience could rap. Having worked hard to hone her skill over the past decade, building experience in London and LA, Amplify Dot is now signed to EMI and ready to unleash her vocal talents as a solo artist

Charlie Brown is a rising talent whose debut single On My Way entered the UK Singles Chart at #7 late last month. Having signed to AATW in 2012, Charlie has worked with everyone from Wiley, Jay Sean and The Script, through to high-profile hit-makers such as Fraser T. Smith (Adele), RedOne (Nicki Minaj) and FutureCut (Wretch32), while collaborators on his debut album Dreamstate include Quiz & Larossi, MoJam (Emeli Sandé, Professor Green), Focus (Misha B), and Wayne Rodrigues (Nelly Furtado, Kelly Clarkson)

Ed Drewett is the household-name-in-waiting of UK music, having worked with everyone from Pro Green, collaborating and featuring on the #3 chart track I Need You Tonight and supporting him on three tours, through to The Wanted, as the writer of Lightning and the #1 chart singles All Time Low and Glad You Came

Drewett’s debut solo-single, Champagne Lemonade, was subject to multiple delays, eventually being released in 2010 amid sweeping management changes at his first record label. He finally released his second solo single, Drunk Dial, in March of this year, ahead of his forthcoming debut album

Drewett has also more recently collaborated with Olly Murs, helping to pen songs for Olly’s latest album, Right Place Right Time

The full line-up for Saturday’s Main Stage confirmed so far, now includes, Example, Rita Ora, DJ Fresh, James Arthur, Jaguar Skills, Angel, Little Nikki, Ria Ritchie and Amplify Dot, with Rinse FM’s Saturday Stage 2 including sets from Skepta, Redlight, High Contrast, Zinc, Friction and Huxley, with Color hosting the campers-only after-show Warehouse party

The full line-up for Sunday’s Main Stage is so far confirmed as Jessie J, JLS, Wiley, Union J, Amelia Lily and Tich, with Hospitality’s Stage 2 Sunday line-up hosting sets by Netsky, Danny Byrd, Nu:Logic, S.P.Y, Fred V & Grafix and Metrik, with MCs Wrec, Dynamite, SP:MC and Texas all providing lyrics, ahead of the Hed Kandi after-show closing party, for campers, in the Warehouse

The ‘Circus Opening Party’ on the indoor Warehouse stage – again accessible only with camping tickets – will see Doctor P, Funtcase, Cookie Monsta, Brown & Gammon, Roksonix and Krafty kicking off the weekend on Friday 30 August

Sundown Festival spokesperson, Dion Clements comments: “Sundown has always offered the chance to see some of the biggest names in urban, dance and pop music, but we’re also keen to showcase new talent we know have promising futures; Ria, A.Dot, Charlie and Ed all fill that criteria with ease and we’re pretty sure the audience will be among some of the first music fans to see why”

Tickets are on sale now for Sundown Festival, which will take place at the Norfolk Showground on Saturday 31 August & Sunday 1 September. For more information, or to book tickets for the event, visit www.nationalboxoffice.co.uk, or call 0871 224 1112 / 1113

With 3 top ten singles and a no.4 album, they’ve cemented their reputation as one of the country’s hottest new bands. They return to T in the Park for the 20th year celebrations, after they made a big impression at last year’s festival.

Another internet sensation, Gabrielle Aplin began her flourishing music career publishing cover songs on YouTube. Flash forward a few years and she has two Top 10 hits (including the number 1 single Power of Love), 3 sellout UK and Ireland tours and a John Lewis Christmas advert soundtrack under her belt. She mesmerized the studio audience as well as millions of viewers across the country with her sassy songwriting and skilful guitar playing, and is set to wow the T in the Park crowd this July.

After coming second on The Voice, Bo Bruce is back and ready to release her debut album later this month. Before I Sleep is a stunning set of emotion-soaked songs – from dreamy debut single Save Me, to the gorgeous, drama-packed exploration of fears that is The Hands I Hold, it’s sure to win a whole new legion of fans.

Guitarist Thom Whitworth has played with top players and won Young Jazz Musician of the Year. He is regarded by many as the new Pat McCarthy. Trudy has toured extensively at festivals and jazz clubs around the world and the UK. She has collaborated with many great musicians including Mulgrew Miller, Georgie Fame, Acker Bilk and Jamie Cullum. She also finds time to co-present BBC Across the South's Jazz Hour.

Although they take influences from many areas and eras of the jazz genre, they carry a unique sound that is sympathetic with earlier and contemporary areas of music. They offer a sincere and genuine approach to their music-making by injecting a youthful vigour that creates a resounding and individual personality.  Festival organiser and saxophonist Simon Cunliffe-Lister will play out the weekend with Ben and his band.

Mark Knight makes a welcome return to South West Four in 2013. This will be his fourth performance in the past five years in fact, with the Toolroom Records governor and Grammy nominated producer one of the first names on our 10th Anniversary hit list. In 2010 Mark hosted a Toolroom Knights arena at SW4, whilst in 2009 and 2012 he drew massive crowds to the main stage. In 2013 Mark returns to celebrate Toolroom Records’ 10th Anniversary with a showcase featuring some of the finest names in house music. As a DJ Mark constantly sets the pace and is recognised worldwide for his long standing residencies at cherished haunts such as Space Ibiza and Ministry of Sound. A key fixture at the festival in recent years we are delighted to welcome Mark and Toolroom back to South West Four.

Mark Knight @ SW4

Always ranking high on any DJ list that matters, Solomun is one of the most in-demand DJs of recent times. Named 2012 ‘DJ of the year’ by Mixmag, the Hamburg based producer has been making huge waves with his unique and modern blend of house and techno. The Diynamic imprint which he founded has allowed Solomun to spread his name yet further, which is set to be elevated to a whole new level this summer via his ‘Solomun +1’ residency at Pacha Ibiza. Making his SW4 debut this year, Solomun is simply a must see.

Dennis Ferrer is house music’s most innovative producer. It’s safe to say that the New York icon and founder of Objektivity Records has seen a number of musical trends come and go, some even in full circles, yet he has managed to stay close to his roots for the whole period. Aside from finding commercial success through his genre-defining track ‘Hey Hey’, the Grammy nominated DJ and producer manages to find time to nurture a host of underground talent through his own Objektivity imprint. Having headlined Defected’s sell out show last New Years Eve at Electric Brixton, Dennis returns to the Big Smoke to make his long awaited SW4 bow. See you at the front.

German producer Fritz Kalkbrenner grew up on a strict diet of hip-hop and soul and subsequently missed the techno craze that swept the nation after the fall of the Berlin wall.  It wasn’t until the mid 90’s that he was fully introduced to techno by his brother Paul and is now finding success as a pioneer of the Tech- Soul sound he is famed for producing. Fritz released his debut album ‘Here Today Gone Tomorrow’ in 2010, a silky sophisticated techno album with plenty of soul elements and has since blossomed out of the shadow of his older sibling. Late 2012 saw the release of his sophomore effort ‘Sick Travellin’, which has taken him down a more house driven avenue. This will be another SW4 debut that is guaranteed to take the Common by storm.

Hailing from Chicago, a city that has a rich history as the birthplace of house music, Cajmere followed in his father’s footsteps by DJing and producing his own tracks. He soon found himself leaving his Chemical Engineering degree behind and focusing solely on music and instantly found fame through the now classic ‘Coffee Pot’. 2012 was the 20th anniversary of his Cajual Records label and through the label off-shoot ‘Relief’ he also released music from his flamboyant and often darker infused alter ego Green Velvet. With this performance being Curtis Jones’ first ever on our hallowed turf as Cajmere, we can’t wait to hear the chants of “It’s time for the percolator!”

Hailing from deepest, darkest Cologne, Roman Boer has been making deep and tech house for the best part of fifteen years. Better known by his stage name Tocadisco, the German maestro has remixed over one hundred artists including Laidback Luke, Steve Aoki, Moby and Tiga to name a few. You would have unquestionably heard Tocadisco’s music featured on TV ads, whilst his radio show is broadcast to over fifty countries. His own imprint TOCA45, showcases the freshest sounding club tracks available today and with this appearance being his only London festival show this year, make sure you get to his tent with plenty of time to spare.

Finally joining us as very special guest in the Toolroom Records stage is Marco Niemerski, widely celebrated as Tensnake. Hailing from Hamburg and raised on a diet of 80‘s boogie and disco, Tensnake is a name that has been permanently etched on our minds after the gargantuan success of ‘Coma Cat’. The infectious melody and honey-like loveliness of this joyful single helped shape our summer of 2010. Never one to bask in the glory of a single triumph, Tensnake went on to release the equally catchy ‘Something About You’ and more recently ‘Mainline’, which managed to bring light to the darkest of dance floors. With an album finished and scheduled for release later this year, we welcome Tensnake’s to the terrain of Clapham Common for the first time, as he brings the sunshine to South West Four.

Little Boots at The Deezer Bandwagon Tour

Seeing someone perform inside a soundproofed box isn’t the usual thing you’d expect when attending a gig. It was actually quite a surreal experience when you weren’t wearing the headphones given to you at the door. Normally silent discos are played by DJ’s, so you don’t really expect to be able to hear the music, however when confronted with a band that you can’t hear it’s a completely different story. Once I put on the headphones given to me at the gate however, I was engulfed by the crisp, electro pop sounds of Little Boots as if she was performing at a normal gig.

Having never seen Little Boots before I couldn’t wait to hear what she had in store for this one-of-a-kind show. Alongside her crowd pleasing classics such as ‘Stuck On Repeat’ and ‘Remedy’ she played a number of new, as of yet unreleased tracks that went down a storm with the crowd of all ages. Towards the end of her hour-long set time Little Boots fittingly played ‘Headphones’ which added to the slightly comedic performance. Being perfectly honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Little Boots, however her live performance completely blew me away and fitted perfectly with the first signs of spring sun.

Before Little Boot’s final few songs we were all told that we could take our headphones off as the 400 strong crowd had been tweeting about the show so much we’d ‘unleashed the music’, and Little Boots finished her performance in style with a couple more new songs. Once Little Boots’ show was over Russ Jones, AKA Hackney Globetrotter, took to the decks and took the party into the night with an eclectic set of chart toppers and funky house beats. The Red Gallery Car Park proved to be the perfect venue for a relaxed evening of free drinks and great tunes hidden away in the heart of Shoreditch, with plenty of sofas and benches to soak up the evening sun on.

Mystery Jets & Bastille to headline Blissfields Festival

Blissfields Festival is pleased to unveil its headline acts for 2013. Under the banner ‘The Director’s Cut’, the award winning Hampshire festival will be celebrating all things film in its 13th year, from the early talkies to VIP Hollywood parties. Expect a weekend full of red carpets, interactive games, popcorn-throwing dance-offs, film screenings, the best soundtracks, visual treats, hidden treasures and all the usual fun that Blissfields has become synonymous with… topped by the first announced headline music acts: Mystery Jets & Bastille.

Mystery Jets first performed at Blissfields in 2005, the summer before their debut albumMaking Dens found them acclaimed heroes of indie and leaders of what would become the Thames-beat folk scene that followed. They return to Blissfields after a run of top-40 singles including ‘The Boy Who Ran Away’ and gloriously catchy ‘Two Doors Down’, as esteemed festival headliners, their live set now full of bouncing, rousing and urgent pop songs spanning four albums. It’s with tremendous pleasure that Blissfields can welcome back Mystery Jets who have selected the festival for a unique headline appearance this summer, continuing in the festival's tradition of bringing special performances to a boutique set-up seen previously with Super Furry Animals, Mumford and Sons, Frank Turner and Laura Marling to name a few.

They’re joined by Bastille, one of 2013’s most exciting breakthrough live acts. Having picked up press and radio support with their single ‘Flaws’ and most recently ‘Pompeii’, with extensive UK touring over the past 20 months, including two sold out nights at Shepherds Bush Empire, they’ve a devoted and fierce fanbase, idolizing Dan Smith’s heartbreaking, wild and earnest lyrics. The touching vocals collide into massive pop melodies, making Bastille not just a powerful band for honest song fans, but for any ears of taste the nation over. Their debut album Bad Blood is released this March via Island/Universal and already looks to be one of Britain’s major crossover success stories of the year.

Bastille

Bastille’s Dan Smith has said this morning, "We're massively excited about our first ever headline slot at a festival. Particularly because we love Blissfields so much, and because they've been so supportive to us over the last couple of years.”

Matt Corby, whose Jeff Buckly-inspired soulful folk-rock has caught the inner-ear of the world, attracting over 100,000 Facebook fans and a signing to Atlantic Records, will adorn the main stage, following recent demand that found him selling out four London performances in just one day. Recently featured on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and receiving huge support from the likes of Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac and more, Clean Bandit – hailed as a hugely exciting new UK dance group set to follow in the footsteps of Massive Attack and Basement Jaxx, are also confirmed.

Fresh from touring the UK’s biggest venues with Mumford & Sons and Everything Everything, Post War Years join the cast of this year’s film-themed event, following the release of their hotly anticipated debut album on Sony/Fiction, while also on the main stage Public Service Broadcasting bring their audio-visuals and historic samples to play homage to “The Director’s Cut” with a performance set to be a unique festival experience.

Hampshire born Marika Hackman’s confident and intense style of folk has seen her drawing comparisons to Syd Barrett and Nico, continuing Blissfield’s long standing relationship with supporting the country’s best, brightest folk acts.

The Other Tribe have set the free-party scene alight in the South West, looking now to join acts like Crystal Fighters in becoming festival necessities, as Far Too Loudheadlines the Hidden Hedge with his frenetic sound that ranked number 1 on the DnB Beatport Chart this January. Blissfields favorite and festival ringleader Beans On Toastwill headline the Acoustic Stage, while Subgiant and Subsource, also long-time friends of Blissfields and in-house party bands, make their veteran return to the festival. Zion Train, UK dub / reggae pioneers and acid house fusion wizards will bring their startling music heritage to the Hampshire field for the first time.

With Thursday night’s headliner, not to mention most of the festival’s main and second stage acts still to announce, this will surely be another vintage year for Blissfields.

Goodwood Racecourse has confirmed the three top acts who will DJ at the legendary Three Friday Nights events, which see an evening of high-octane horse racing followed by a DJ set in the most incredible setting. 2013 arguably boasts Goodwood’s most exciting line-up to date, with three huge names from the music world transforming the picturesque Parade Ring into an amazing arena of eclectic mixes.

The 2013 acts and dates are:

Friday 31st May –  Rudimental

Friday 14 June –
Andy Cato (Groove Armada)

Friday 21 June – Trevor Nelson

As one of the world’s most beautiful and highly regarded racecourses, Goodwood has truly reinvigorated horse racing by juxtaposing a classically British sport with the current passion for live, outdoor music events. After an exciting evening of horses thundering down the straight, the usually sedate Parade Ring turns into one of the most glamorous dance floors in the UK, complete with spectacular laser show. Now in its third year, the West Sussex venue, just over an hour from London, has seen the likes Mark Ronson, Mike Skinner and Boy George take to the decks and thrill the countryside with the sound of music. Last year over 20,000 guests soaked up this unique experience at the sell-out nights and organisers anticipate even larger crowds in 2013. .

May 31st will see Rudimental, the East London music quartet, mixing it up in the Parade Ring and kicking off the first of The Three Friday Nights. The revolutionary revellers have busted out of East London’s underground music scene with a bang and have received their first ever BRIT nomination for Best British Single 2013, ‘Feel the Love’

Rudimental

June 14th will welcome one half of the amazing duo Groove Armada, Andy Cato, to spin the decks in Goodwood’s Parade Ring. Groove Armada established themselves as one of the worlds most-loved and biggest selling dance acts storming the charts and headlining festivals all over the world.

Wrapping up the last of the fantastic Three Friday Nights event on June 21st will be Trevor Nelson. As a pioneer in the UK urban scene, Trevor continues to DJ around the Globe completing his 10th year residency at Pacha in Ibiza.
Nelson’s skills have always been in his mixing – perfecting exactly when to drop a classic into his set of new tracks throughout his 17 years on BBC radio. Join Goodwood Three

Friday Nights and Trevor Nelson where he will be dropping some classic tunes from his Number 1 selling album ‘The Trevor Nelson Collection’

Goodwood Racecourse Managing Director, Adam Waterworth said: “We’re thrilled to be celebrating the 3rd year of Three Friday Nights event at Goodwood. We love the mix of the adrenalin of horse racing combined with the world renowned DJ’s we have signed. I am confident that this year will be our best year yet.”

Goodwood ensures that it provides the more 'pampered' festival experience -offering a selection of bars, boxes and restaurants for guests to enjoy throughout the event. Free buses and coaches run from the Racecourse taking visitors back to major local towns and transport hubs, and Southern Trains run an extra, ‘late night’ service back to London ensuring that no-one has to sleep in a stable.

Three Friday Nights forms part of 19 exciting days of racing offered at Goodwood over the season, from May to October. As if to prove it’s not just about horses, other highlights include Glorious Goodwood, which is and family favourite August Bank Holiday Weekend where organisers recreate a 1950s summer holiday vibe, complete with an old-fashioned funfair, replica beach front and live music widely acknowledged as the 'sporting and social highlight of the summer', Glorious Goodwood is a quintessentially English event, where Champagne and strawberries are in abundance,
