It is a very welcome return for Regina, who first played the Garden back in 2005 when she was just starting out. Now lauded as one of the most talented songwriters of her generation there is precious little that the Russian born songstress hasn’t achieved. Her music has graced television and film around the world and won her a multitude of fervent admirers including Barack and Michelle Obama for whom she performed at The White House in 2010.

Regina says:

"I'm so excited to return this summer and play The Secret Garden Party! Whenever I'm gone for a while I really start to miss the UK!

It's amazing to get to play this festival again. It is full of people who are really passionate about music. Thanks for having me!"

Regina Spektor

Also confirmed are Swedish indie-rockers the Shout Out Louds. Having just released their fourth album ‘Optica’ to much critical acclaim the Stockholm- based quintet are famed for their mesmerising live shows and multi-layered harmony. Spanning ten years their musical CV includes a globetrotting tour with The Strokes and a single release on a record made entirely of ice – you really can’t get cooler than that…

Watch out for American folk-starlet Lissie who has collaborated with the likes of Band Of Horses, Robbie Williams and Snow Patrol; synth-toting troubadour Youth Lagoon; UK buzz band Temples and Willy Mason to name a few.

And in other news….

ACTION CAMPS, THEATRE, PARTICIPATION

This summer’s theme ‘superstition’ brings all kinds of strange and bizarre action camps into the Garden, each one lovingly programmed by fellow gardeners and promising to captivate, charm, hypnotise, enchant and enthrall you. Here are just a few of the many, many camps you’ll find at the party this summer…

Open up the doors to discover what may be lurking behind. Located in a land of beasts Monsters Inkwill provide hours of daytime entertainment for Gardeners. Draw out your inner monsters and rid the Garden of your beasts.

But if the monsters unnerve you why not channel your creativity at The Bohemian Artists’ Studio – the aficionados of festival life drawing, return once more to Secret Garden Party. Strike a pose and be forever immortalised on canvas by our virtuoso artistes at an evenings’ entertainment worthy of the most refined and discerning of reprobates.

Tongue of toad and eye of cod; be sure to visit the Witches of Odd. Enter the witches’ lair into a world of magic, spell chanting, potion mixing, join in on a traditional binding spell and make a wish for your inner most desires to come true or even cast a spell to determine the fate of other gardeners.

Perhaps you might stumble across the unlucky No.13 Club, a very superstitious 80’s neon micro disco, perfect for a moment of superstitious solitude. Release all inhibitions and dance your heart out.

After years of burying all you Gardeners, Funeral Camp makes an epic return as the Cult of the Sturdy Virgins. Their ritualistic death methods have enhanced their own supernatural powers through the manipulation of dark energies.  WHATEVER your gripe… they have the answer. Visit their Supernatural Hospital Camp, they’ve assured us their occult practises and ceremonies have been tried and tested. Enhance your spiritual deficits resulting in sense of alleviation.

ARTFUL BADGERS

Emerging from the mists of the deep dark Badger Woods the Artful Badgers underground campaign for world domination begins in earnest this year, as they march out roaring, to take on the new beautifully landscaped Amphitheatre. Here all manners of wild and unprecedented badger antics will pepper a program of their most diverse live music line-ups to date.  Occult ceremonies, animal dance, pagan circus, bizarre performance art and wild fire shows, join their in-house team of immersive theatrics and ecstatic dancers to bring the woods alive with the shadows of joyful woodland creatures.

The Feral Fever DJ Stage will boast some of the most spectacular laser shows ever seen under a leafy canopy, with wild beats from an extraordinary line up of mystery superstar DJs.  Heady Balearic rhythms, deep dance floor journeys and old school uplifting classics will be brought to life by a crystal clear system, our thumping dance crew and the flying wonders of aerialists suspended from our old man oak tree.  Journeying on sound doesn't get better placed than this.

Badger Bingo returns to the homely bar space and the warm twangs of the northern bingo caller will make you at home in an appropriate realm of wrongness. And the lonely hearts need not go home empty handed amongst all the ecstatic joy, as Badger Dating returns to spread the Badger Love and help you break through any blocks to your eternal happiness with another.

The badger continues to help you break through on all levels, presenting mystical afternoons of their trademark WILD workshops: including Shamanic Journeying, 5 Rhythms Ecstatic Dance, Mask Making and Dance your Naked Truth: a small graze on the surface of our deeper shamanic selves – where better to explore that than in the warm womb of the woods.

All in all, the badgers intend not only for you to never leave the underworld of the badgers once you have entered, but that when you eventually do, you will be so thoroughly grounded, feralised, expressed, refreshed and enthralled that there will be no other way to put it than to say, "I got seriously badgered this weekend!'. Bring it on.

FEAST OF FOOLS

Roll up! Roll up! Roll up! Stroll around our fayreground imaginarium where Alkhemysts ply their trade & tricksters work their craft, where tattooed ladies rub shoulders with tarot readers & circus lads & bearded ladies vie for your attention. Come m’dearios & taste our wares… feast your eyes on our Hoochie Coochie girls, wet your whistles at the Honeymoon Tavern & be merry with our Tarts & Tramps. The legendary Feast of Fools has unleashed a delicious taster line-up for this summer.

The Burning Man Project has shown us the way when it comes to installation art in the Garden; free from the gallery and as interactive as possible. Once again, the Secret Arts Foundation has embraced this concept whole-heartedly and for the party this summer have pledged to fund and support art which is interactive in its approach, participatory in its social stance and emotive in its realisation.

This summer the Garden will be alive with interactive art created by some of the finest contemporary artists from across the Globe. There will be plenty of unique pieces commissioned especially for the party for Gardeners to discover, climb over, crawl under and dance around.

In previous years Secret Arts has championed projects such as the towering robots made from scrap; street art from Europe; shrines from San Fransico; Cartoon Confessionals from Tony Husband; giant floating islands that defied the laws of physics; tunnelled labyrinths; flocked treesand of course the infamous lake stage installations…. including a pirate ship; a blimp; a dragonfly; figure heads of the ages and many more…

Work is already in full swing for this summer’s art installations. More information on this summer’s incredible artists and collectives coming soon.

This video, filmed for Secret Arts during the weeks in the run up to last summer’s party, gives us a sneak peak into just a fraction of the hard work and love which went into last summer’s art installations.

FAMILY GARDENERS

There are lots of things for young Gardeners to see and do at the party too. There are family friendly action camps, theatre, art works and fairground rides dotted throughout the garden, as well as a dedicated kids camp which provides a fun, creative haven for young Gardeners.  Some of our favourite workshops taking place in Kids Camp this summer include Aunty Dots magic science experiments & weather casting, Bling Your Thing craft space, supernatural Stick Men making, Mr Wolf Shadow Puppets and pizza making.  There will also be plenty of theatre from the likes of the Flying Seagulls.

Rizzle Kicks to headline Shakedown + many more!

The main stage will be hosted by drinkinbrighton.co.uk and will be headlined by local boys Rizzle Kicks.  Rizzle Kicks are one of the biggest names in urban music having sold over a million singles in the UK and released their debut album Stereo Typical, a mixture of pop and hip hop incorporating elements of the old skool hip-hop era circa 1988 – 92.  Their eagerly anticipated new album is set this summer and the boys will have festival goers partying along to the anthemic pop of When IWas A YoungsterMama Do The Hump and Down With Trumpets at what will be a massive homecoming show.

Rizzle Kicks

Britain’s urban pop superstar Labrinth is also confirmed to perform.  Fresh off his UK tour with Plan B and Rudimental, Labrinth is the ultimate showman, and is set to perform his enormous hits Pass OutLet The Sun ShineEarthquakeLast TimeBeneath Your Beautiful and more.  Labrinth has collaborated with the likes of Tinie TempahPlan BEmeli Sande and Wretch 32 since he exploded onto the scene in 2010 and was subsequently signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco label.  His blend of R n’ B, Hip Hop and dubstep has marked him out as a key player in UK music.

DJ Fresh will be playing with a full live band, a real coup for Shakedown as he performs all the colossal hits from his Nextlevelism album, Hot Right NowLouderThe PowerGold Dust and The Feeling as well as classic tracks.  Expect a monstrous set of drum & bass, dubstep and electro house for this electronic aristocrat.

Maverick Sabre is a singer/songwriter with soul in abundance and his set will showcase his outstanding take on soul and r n’ b while DJ Jacob Plant also performs.  Jacob has just released his huge track Shakedown on Calvin Harris’s label Fly Eye and was written to open his set at the festival in 2012.   Also performing on the main stage will be Delilah who will bring a little London swagger, the legendary Jaguar Skills with his eclectic multi-genre, cut-n-paste DJ’ing and the hip hop of Ed Sheeran cohort Mikill Pane.

The Supercharged Arena is back in 2013 with a plethora of heavyweight DJ’s.  Sub Focus is one of the superstars of bass music, a production obsessive whose attention to detail is matched only by the raw spectacle of his incredible DJ sets.  A bone fide cross over artist Sub Focus is that rare thing in dance music, someone who can keep one foot in the underground and still have credible radio hits.

Zane Lowe can’t get enough of Shakedown as he returns for a third successive year.  The Radio 1 new music legend needs no introduction and his previous sets at Shakedown have been a festival highlight.  Popular demand sees him return to inflict further musical mayhem on the south coast.

Shakedown is thrilled to announce a four hour RAM Records takeover in the Supercharged Arena.  RAM Records is the legendary drum & bass label that hosts sell out, road block sessions every other month at Fabric as well as one off events all over the world.  They have a roster of the most influential global drum & bass DJ’s and they bring four of their finest to Shakedown for a mammoth session which is sure to be a mecca for clubbers from across the UK.

Award winning Brighton boy Krafty Kuts riotous DJ skills have earned him a reputation as a DJ of some repute whilst A Skillz incredible deck talents have marked him out as the party rocker extraordinaire.

Shakedown was the stand out dance music festival in 2012 and the promoters continue to strive to provide an electronic music experience for their audience.  In addition to the main stage and Supercharged Arena, Shakedown will be introducing aHouse and Future Bass Arena for 2013, providing festival goers with even more destinations to enjoy the electronic sounds of today and tomorrow.  The line-up for the House and Future Bass Arena will be announced shortly as will many more names across all the stages as Shakedown returns to the UK’s party capital for the final festival of the year.

Full Creamfields lineup revealed including headliners The Prodigy, Avicii, Tiësto & more!

Over the past six months we have strived to deliver to you what we believe is the biggest line up we have ever seen at the festival, starting with Saturday headliners, The Prodigy.

As one of the most, if not the most influential dance acts on the planet, we’re pleased to announce The Prodigy will be headlining the North Stage on Saturday 24th August for their only UK performance this year. Expect bomb squad production, appendix churning bass and rushing keyboard hooks as you experience one of the greatest live shows of your lifetime.

The Prodigy

Headlining the South Stage on Saturday will be Avicii. After thousands watched the Swedish phenomenon smash it last year we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this time. Whilst Avicii enjoys the fresh heights of fame, one DJ who has been at the top of his game for the past two decades is Tiësto. A performer who has transcended musical genres, Tiësto continues to be one of the World’s top DJs and that’s why we’re happy to announce that he will be returning with the Clublife South Stage on Sunday. Proceeding with our world class line-up, we welcome back David Guetta who continues his global domination with the news that he has hit the 1 million sales record for his track ‘Titanium’ ft Sia, not to mention the numerous awards he has won over the past 12 months. As ever David will be bringing his full scale production and vast music catalogue to close Sunday’s North Stage.

Size Records has become the starting block for many a DJ/producer over the past few years and at its helm is Steve Angello. As one of the most successful electronic producers of his time, Steve’s sets at Creamfields are always epic and we assure you this year will be no different. If that wasn’t enough we've also got his partner in crime Sebastian Ingrosso hosting his very first ‘All Mixed Up’ arena on Sunday. If you haven’t experienced these guys’ sets before, you better get ready because they know how to party, hard.

One DJ collective who uphold a 100% success rate for giving their audience goosebumps are Above & Beyond, famed for their interactive, uplifting performances we can’t wait to have them back at the show. Another act we’re excited to see is Paul van Dyk. Paul is a Cream legend, having played for the festival nearly every year since its inception and also maintaining a successful residency at Cream Ibiza he consistently delivers and will be back to headline the Cream Arena on Sunday.

Above & beyondFurther highlights this year include Eric Prydz aka Pryda whose February Essential Mix is still a constant on the Creamfields office speakers plus the ferocious Knife Party who will take to Saturday’s South Stage to treat us with their heady cocktail of sounds from dubstep and electro to drum and bass and moombahton. They will be joined by the DJ with the Midas touch, Nicky Romero,  who recently celebrated his first UK number 1 with the track ‘I Could Be The One’ featuring Avicii. We also have Grammy-award winner Afrojack, DJ Mag Top 100 #6 Hardwell, wonderkid Porter Robinson and Refune prodigy Alesso who is back after that amazing set on last year’s South Stage.  Also listen out for Groove Armada as they will be sure to debut some brand new tracks in the Nation Arena as they recently announced that they’re heading back into the studio. From legends to fresh faces we couldn’t believe our eyes when we first saw Madeon play, so much talent and still only 18! If you haven’t seen his ‘Pop Culture’ video on YouTube yet – look now – and don’t miss his North Stage debut.

Ensuring our stages are kept booming across both days we’ve put together a delectable line-up of stars including NERVO, Zane Lowe, Zedd, Tommy Trash, Feed Me, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Borgore, Norman Doray, Alvaro, Major Look Tom Staar, and Pegboard Nerds.

Shaking things up for this year we introduce a fresh new arena from Pete Tong. The All Gone Pete Tong arena embodies Pete’s ability to push and nurture new talent whilst still representing the artists who helped forge the scene. First on the invite list is Sasha, ready to drop tracks from his brand new Involv3r compilation release and making a welcome return to the festival after a year hiatus. Moving on from one of Mixmag’s first cover stars to their DJ of 2012, Solomun, will be bringing the sounds of his Diynamic label to the show for the first time. Completing this tasty first line-up are leading DJ/ producers Joris Voorn, David Squillace, Hernan Cattaneo, Hot Since 82 and Jaymo & Andy George. Bring it.

From ‘All Gone Pete Tong’ to ‘All Mixed Up’; the brand new arena presented by Sebastian Ingrosso, which features himself and protégé Alesso as well as very special guest Armand van Helden, Otto Knows, Mat Zo, Deniz Koyu and Carli. Whilst Steve Angello and the Size Matters posse will be raising the roof once again with acts Benny Benassi, AN21, Max Vangeli, Third Party, Tim Mason, Quilinez and Wayne & Woods.

Creamfields’ first lady Annie Mac has pulled it out of the bag once again with the line-up for the Annie Mac Presents Arena which includes a live performance from the BBC’s coveted Sound of 2013 #2 act, AlunaGeorge. The über talented duo will also be joined by breakthrough house producerJulio Bashmore whose infectious melodies are certain to provide the perfect summer festival vibe, and the extremely talented Eats Everything and his ‘Feather Fight’ cohort Justin Martin.  In addition, we also welcome rising stars Toddla T Sound and Monki and along with the man behind the ‘Harlem Shake,' Baauer.

After last year we have made it our mission to get the acts you missed back to this year’s festival including the mighty Richie Hawtin and his unique ENTER. Arena concept. Now an award-winning night in Ibiza, ENTER. will provide a Balearic atmosphere on Sunday complimented by the beats of the mighty Loco Dice, Seth Troxler, Gaiser, Paco Osuna and Hobo.

As a much revered institution at Creamfields we’re always excited to see the line-up for the Pryda Friends Arena and this year Eric Prydz has surpassed even our expectations offering up sets from renowned techno producer Marco Carola, RA’s #10 of 2012 Maya Jane Coles plus a welcome return from Adam Beyer. We also have a debut appearance from Maceo Plex and music from Scuba, George Fitzgerald and Fehrplay.

When it comes to bass, beats and solid grooves there are two people who never let you down and that’s why this year we’ve asked Skream & Benga to curate a brand new arena for Saturday. Skream & Benga present will feature sets from the men themselves as well as a few of their friends including Ram Records founder Andy C, Redlight, Rustie, Jack Beats, Alvin Risk, Zinc, Bondax,  Clean Bandit, Kidnap Kid, Woz plus many more.

Celebrating the landmark 10th edition of their renowned label showcase with ‘Anjunabeats Volume 10’, Above & Beyond present the Anjunabeats Arena in association with Mixmag for the first time at Creamfields offering plenty of euphoric, hands in the air moments with a little help from their ‘On A Good Day’ co-producer Gareth Emery, Cream legend Paul Oakenfold and Arty. They will also be bringing the cream of the Anjuna crop in the form of Norin & Rad and Andrew Bayer.

Topping up the trance on Sunday we have the iconic Cream Arena, our longest standing arena, filled with memories, many made by these guys –Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten. They will be celebrating this special anniversary with John O’Callaghan, Simon Patterson, Jordan Suckleyand Adam Sheridan.

Prepare your superhero costumes as Laidback Luke returns with the SuperYou&Me Arena! Steve Aoki will finally make his Creamfields debut along with his rider of cakes, inflatables and plenty of champagne for everyone! And the party doesn’t stop there! Eddie Halliwell will be making sure you’re fired up while Chuckie and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano will be making up the Dutch contingent supported by Tom Swoon and La Fuenta.

Whilst Skream & Benga ensure the bass is covered on Saturday, Mistajam will show us what his Speakerbox imprint has got on Sunday with a headline live performance from Sub Focus and a Creamfields debut for London boys Modestep. The raw talent in this arena doesn’t end there with sets to look forward to from Digital Soundboy’s Shy Fx plus Mistajam himself, Monsta, Killsonik, Friction, Majestic, Decibel, North Base andBitR8.

After last year’s success we’re bringing the Nation concept undercover with the Nation Arena headlined by Groove Armada, with return performances from A-Trak, Fake Blood and Jaguar Skills. Plus we’ve also got sets from emerging talent Jackmaster, Burns and Eli & Fur.

Providing beats on the harder side of dance is the Goodgreef Xtra-Hard Arena which features performances from the likes of Kutksi, Andy Whitby, Alex Kidd, the Organ Donors plus many more, and for those who prefer the finer side of life, Hed Kandi return as hosts of the Hospitality Arena.

It has become somewhat of a tradition to have the Mixmag as our official warm-up hosts for the festival and this year is no different as they bring you ‘That Mixmag Thing’ silent disco arena on Friday 23rd August with DJ Mag’s youngest covermount artist – at just 17! – Danny Avila and Mixmag’s ‘one to watch’ Deniz Koyu plus the Mixmag Allstars. If you like things a little deeper and darker then Riva Starr’s Snatch! silent disco arena is the place for you. This year Riva has brought with him some of the most exciting acts to watch out for this year including ‘Producers Producer’ Duke Dumont, Dirty Bird’s Shadow Child and more. We can’t wait for this! Finally Unit7 introduce the WRHSmusic arena armed with their favourite acts of the moment, including Russ Chimes who will be bringing his own unique brand of amped up, atmospheric and pop-savvy dance music to the silent disco as well as the brilliant Citizen.

‘Weekenders’ will then be able to join the masses for the star-studded line-up on the Main Stage and Stage 2 on Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 September, before being treated to further exclusive after-show parties in the Warehouse, performed by B Traits and Breakage on the Saturday night, and RATPACK on the Sunday night

Jaguar Skills

Jaguar Skills’ identity is one of the best kept secrets in clubland – opting to wear a ninja-mask at every performance – but his stock and profile have risen dramatically over the past 10 years. Revered for having entirely produced and edited a mix-CD on two mini-disk Walkmen back in 2002, Jag Skills went on to a residency at Jade Jagger’s Jezebel nights at Pacha in Ibiza and quickly progressed to DJ other Jezebel events across the globe. He now has a 10-minute mix slot on Trevor Nelson’s Saturday evening BBC Radio 1 show, having been a part of Radio 1’s ‘In New DJs We Trust’.

B Traits and Breakage are hard to categorise with a specific definition of their sound, both busting genres wide-open, with B Traits clearly influenced by old school rave, Jungle, hip hop, 90s house and UK Funky, with her recent UK Chart Single, Fever, also featuring garage vocals by Elisabeth Troy, whereas Breakage is a drum and bass/dubstep producer and DJ, evidently inspired by the original 90s Jungle Sound, Reggae and Dancehall. Both are highly respected on the club scene and both will be performing for ‘Weekenders’ only, on the Saturday night of the Sundown Festival

RATPACK are DJ Lipmaster Mark & MC Evenson Allen who joined forces back in 1985 at the birth of the warehouse/rave scene and are still standing strong 25 years later. Having worked together, with Mark doing beats over Evenson's sets, they quickly moved into the Acid House craze in 1989 which saw the Pack take a new direction

First by running their own local warehouse parties and then, when a DJ didn't turn up for his set Mark got on the decks and Evenson started to hype the crowd by singing and MCing – something which was a Taboo in those days- they unknowingly became the UK Rave Scene's first DJ/MC team, a combination which has taken them all over the World to tear up many a Dance Floor, bringing a collection of styles including House, Break-beat, Drum&Bass and Dub-step

With Olly Murs, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Stan, Stooshe, Katy B, Zane Lowe, Ms Dynamite, Sub Focus, Dot Rotten, Labrinth and headliners Chase & Status Live rocking the Main Stage over the two-day festival and with Stage 2 playing host to the likes of Feed Me Live, Radio 1/1Xtra’s Mista Jam, Funtcase, Zinc, Wilkinson and 16 Bit, presented by UKF on Saturday 1 September, it has now been announced that dance brand KISS will present headliner David Rodigan MBE, Sway Live, EZ, Shortee Blitz, MJ Cole and Charlie Hedges on Stage 2 for the Sunday night

Sundown Festival spokesman, Dion Clements comments: “For this year’s Sundown Festival we wanted to add extra incentive for people to come to Norfolk, spend the whole weekend and enjoy the full package of music on offer. I think we’ve over-achieved in that goal, with the After-Show Warehouse parties being more than just an incentive; they are events in their own rights. Jag Skills performs at almost every major festival in the UK, and now tours the global circuit… he’s club royalty! We’re also honoured to have B Traits, Breakage and RATPACK performing sets on subsequent nights. I would expect Weekenders to be prepared for very little sleep and some hardcore partying over the three days”

Sundown Festival announces KISS Stage 2

Sundown Festival spokesman, Dion Clements comments: “As we had previously announced, this year’s second stage, or Stage 2, is going to be much more dance led than last year. The Saturday night, as we know, will have a strong emphasis on Bass music, and now we’re able to announce that the Sunday night will focus on a mix of House, Garage and Reggae, with some of the biggest club DJs mixing it up under the KISS brand. Bringing the likes of David Rodigan MBE, EZ and MJ Cole to Norfolk just pushed the boundaries of the festival, and its appeal, even further“

VIP

Building on the success of last year’s revamped site and epic new areas, GlobalGathering is pleased to announce that the VIP ticket offering at this year’s festival is set to take the experience to a whole new level.

Providing guests with access to the ultimate clubber’s playground and a completely new audiovisual festival experience is the best VIP area GlobalGathering has ever seen. 2012 sees the introduction of a plane crash site theme, ensuring the sanctuary that is the VIP Fields and the party hub, the VIP Woods, perfectly compliment Long Marston Airfield’s aeronautical heritage.

Next to the VIP campsite and entered through a tunnel of windsocks, the VIP Fields are a place to relax, recharge, socialise and enjoy the delicious range of food and drink on offer throughout the weekend. With a Global Impact plane crash theme, the Fields will be dominated by the cockpit of a plane and feature chill-out areas including seating booths created out of graffiti covered cargo boxes, cargo net nests, specially adapted tyres and the Global Reclaim suitcase tunnel.

Tucked away between the VIP Fields and the main festival action are the more intimate VIP Woods. The Global Airways Hangar will dominate GlobalGathering’s very own enchanted forest, which truly comes alive at night. An incredible two story structure styled as a retro airplane hangar, the ground level will host a nightclub where VIP DJ’s and surprise guests will ensure it’s the hottest, most exclusive spot on site. Upstairs, the VIP Pilot’s Lounge will host a chillout area whilst outside, The Good Life zone will be filled with hammocks for revellers who prefer their R&R under fairy lit tries.

The VIP Woods will also invite guests to explore the secret pathways that take them to hidden gems including The Enchanted Garden, an oversized tropical oasis and the Mad Aviator’s Tea Party, featuring a long dining table doused in colourful lighting and seating area (magic teapots not included).

Knife Party, Zane Lowe and more added to South West Four (SW4) lineup

Chase & Status, Skrillex, Carl Cox, Skream & Benga. Not only a dream for talent train spotters, but just some of the revered names providing August’s aural assault on Clapham Common. Earmarking this year as our most eclectic and engaging, an unprecedented early interest has sent ticket sales soaring. With fervent enthusiasm from all involved, this quality quintuple is most qualified to engage your senses. However that is the just the tip of the iceberg. A warm SW4 welcome to Saturday stars Knife Party and Zane Lowe. Then last but not least, Sunday’s surreptitious ambassadors of Clapham carnage; Jack Beats, Foreign Beggars, Rudimental and Dread MC.

The cutting edge Knife Party duo consists of powerhouses Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, from last year’s headliners Pendulum. A privilege to welcome their sharp, succinct sound to SW4, following a musical direction away from Pendulum’s D&B mould. Their huge collaborative effort with Swedish House Mafia titled ‘Antidote’ debuted at number four in the UK Singles Chart, whilst their appearances at Space Ibiza and for UKF Bass Culture at Alexandra Palace have quickly proved what a sure fire hit Knife Party has become. Hinging primarily on an electronic house sound, it’s guaranteed to hit SW4 for six.

Zane LoweZane Lowe is arguably the best specialist Radio1 DJ since the late great John Peel. His award winning Radio 1 show features the hottest new music and in the process has received numerous awards. He also heads the acclaimed MTV show ‘Gonzo’ and is heavily involved in Ibiza Rocks, the party which has ripped the White Isle rule book to shreds. Having played alongside the likes of Kasabian and Oasis at Wembley Stadium, plus The Prodigy at Milton Keynes Bowl, Zane is an outstanding DJ whose enthusiastic, fast paced and sometimes rowdy style always fires up the crowd.

Then the multiple DMC Award winning DJ duo, made up of Niall Dailly (DJ Plus One of Scratch Perverts fame) and Ben Geffin (The Mixologists). Jack Beats have had an immediate and profound effect on the club scene since teaming up in 2007, producing transcendent remixes for La Roux and Florence & The Machine amongst others. Citing influences as diverse as Timbaland and A Guy Called Gerald, the two began to hone a style fusing House, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass and Dubstep with Electro and Baltimore Club. The ensuing support from major industry players like Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, has accelerated them to stardom as evident in their latest red hot production ‘All Night’.

The Foreign Beggars don’t need begging, to showcase their underground repertoire of rousing rap, dubstep and grime. The beggars’ own ‘Dented Records’ has become the cornerstone of a meteoric rise to fame, combining these urban sounds with dance music cuts. This underpins a packed itinerary of energetic live shows, widely regarded as changing the face of UK hip hop in the last decade. So no surprise the Foreign Beggars, orchestrated one of the highlights at the recent UKF Bass Culture show. Recent collaborations with trendsetters Skrillex and Flux Pavilion is further proof of a raw unrivalled talent.

We’re not finished yet, all hail rising stars Rudimental! This North London collective have given the ever changing electronic music scene a rude awakening of late. Melding soulful house with acid, disco and deeper influences, results in a rudimentary sound for rocking any festival. New track ‘Spoons’ has been serving up just this, its blissful vocals having seduced BBC Radio One stalwarts Pete Tong, Annie Mac and the aforementioned Zane Lowe. Also proving Rudimental’s unique production versatility, a hot remix of ‘Drunk’ by Ed Sheeran.  An addictive drum and bass lead is exacerbated by a vivacious melody – intoxicating all by itself!

Finally to complement a bulging bill Dread MC. Cranking up the atmosphere to dangerous levels this homegrown MC has perfected his trade performing alongside the biggest names in bass music. A talent which is effortlessly adapted to any genre, he will be performing exclusively alongside the brilliant Redlight. Makes us dread if SW4 can contain his madness!

So there you have it. Six further SW4 artists that encapsulate all genres – defying known definitions for every sonic style. Guaranteed to bring dancing delight to the Clapham faithful, there really is something for all tastes.

Ed Sheeran, Dizzee Rascal and more for Relentless Boardmasters

The festival is Europe’s only surf, skate and music festival offering the ultimate in World Class surfing and music all rolled into one. This year’s festival is NO exception and the best live music, and action sports spread over four days, making it the MUST DO festival of the summer.

Ed SheeranHeadlining Friday man of the moment and Brit Award wining Ed Sheeran will take to the stage famed for his soulful voice and acoustic guitar playing. Joining him will be Grammy nominated DJ duo Ting Tings and London’s The Big Pink.

Friday’s Dance Stage is headlined by dance music sensation DJ Fresh with his incredible show FRESH/LIVE. Constantly pushing the boundaries of the Dubstep and Drum & Base crossover sound, FRESH/LIVE combines the technique and hysteria of Fresh’s DJ sets with the energy of a live instrumental performance. Fresh’s handpicked, fine selection of musicians aims to create a highly skilful unit that will delight crowds with their expertise and create an atmosphere unlike any club experience.

Also joining the bill for Friday is Donavon Frankenreiter, Ryan Keen, Peter Bruntnell, Comedy Hour and Jack Wallen.

Dizzee RascalSaturday welcomes world class and legendary London garage MC, rapper, songwriter and producer Dizzee Rascal. With critically acclaimed number one hits such as ‘Dance Wiv Me’, ‘Bonkers’, ‘Holiday’ ‘Dirtee Disco’ and & ‘Shout’ Dizzee will no doubt get Newquay jumping.

Joining Dizzee Rascal on main stage is young rising star Maverick Sabre. With his gritty yet soulful voice Sabre has been generating a buzz with Professor Green and Chase & Status collaborations and single ‘Let Me Go’.

Saturday also sees performances by British alternative rock band Maximo Park performing their new highly anticipated fourth album.

Add into the mix Zane Lowe a man who needs no introduction, heading up Radio1’s flagship evening slot and showcasing the hottest new music. Relentless Boardmasters will see Zane play a variety of Dance, Drum & Bass, Dub Step and Hip Hop to guarantee a buzzing and electric set.

Other acts confirmed come from across the musical spectrum with the likes of Lissi, Redlight, Doorly, Shapeshifter, Charlotte O Connor and Comedy Hour adding to the eclectic spectrum of music offered by Relentless Boardmasters 2012.

PLUS FIRST COMEDY ANNOUNCEMENT
TIM MINCHIN

Fresh from winning ‘BEST SMALL FESTIVAL’ for the second consecutive year at this week’s star studded NME Awards, and hot on the heels of MUMFORD & SONS, DEADMAU5, BIFFY CLYRO, ED SHEERAN, JUSTICE plus many more already having been announced, the good times keep on rolling as RockNess today confirm the latest names for the award winning line up.

The ViewFirst up and with tunes that say ‘party’ in a way this year’s RockNess audience will find hard to resist, FRIENDLY FIRES bring together a sound coated in melody with nods to nu- and old rave, the right measure of poppy brevity and slick vocals by disco dancing frontman Ed MacFarlane. Like a bringing together of all the great parts of an indie disco in one place, expect the perfect Loch-side soundtrack.

Joining the RockNess bill as special guests, THE VIEW are one of the most exciting young rock bands of their generation.  A debut album that blasted straight into number one, multi million sales and two excellent follow up albums, massive radio and media coverage, Mercury Music Prize nominations…and a level of notoriety that only adds to their authentic bona fide star status. With a hugely anticipated fourth album set for release this summer – rumoured to be their finest yet and recorded in Nashvile with Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon) and Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys) – Loch Ness is officially on standby as THE VIEW prepare to unleash their electrifying sound to a guaranteed rapturous response.

Tim MinchinTIM MINCHIN is a comedy rock superstar whose sell out live performances are a juggernaut of potent, grandiose showmanship. As one of the most commanding figures on the global comedy circuit, Minchin’s unique signature of intellectually provocative wit set against a sweeping musical backdrop, led by the barefoot balladeer on his grand piano, is irresistible. Expect a suitably huge affair at Dores as RockNess continues to offer outstanding comedy across the weekend.

Known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by the late great John Peel, DAVE CLARKE is a bonafide veteran of electro and the first headliner announced for this year’s much anticipated SOMA RECORDS proposition at RockNess. With peerless sets that straddle tracks from the dawn of house through to gothic punk, the man in black’s gritty rock n roll anarchist energy is second to none. Revered by techno connoisseurs the world over for his sonic integrity, as Clarke says, “I may be established but I’ll never be establishment”.

Glistening tunes and insanely catchy riffs have made New York indie rockers THE DRUMS one of the most brilliant breakthrough bands of recent times, largely due to excellent second album Portamento. Fronted by Jonathan Pierce, and with a sound of carefully constructed gems that draw influence from a gamut of artists most notably The Smiths, 2012 promises to see the band’s career trajectory continue.

JACQUES LU CONT (aka Les Rythmes Digitales, Man With Guitar, Thin White Duke, Pour Homme, Zoot Woman, Paper Faces…and Stuart Price) is a three-time Grammy-winning electronic maestro who counts New Order, Madonna, Missy Elliot, Scissor Sisters and The Killers as fans who have enlisted his sublime production expertise. He is also one of the most respected names in electro, devoid of pretension but never failing to deliver killer beats. LU CONT’s contribution to the Fabriclive series is widely regarded as one of the finest ever, and awesome new track ‘Church’ – the first we’ve heard in a long time – marks a stunning return to form.

THE RAPTURE were forerunners of the early 2000s post-punk revival, mixing influences from acid house, disco, electronic and punk rock.  A stream of excellent releases and high profile tours followed  – most notably as the support for Daft Punk’s wildly successful North American assault. Now, after a five year hiatus, the New York trio are back and in rude health.  Recent fourth album In the Grace of Your Love sees the band underpin their art-rock credentials but still with ample funky slabs of synth to keep the RockNess crowd dancing.

Zane LoweAlways guaranteed to deliver the very best parties, RockNess is delighted to welcome BBC Radio 1’s ANNIE MAC and ZANE LOWE back to Dores. As two of the nation’s foremost exponents of cutting edge new music – Annie with her magnificent ‘official start to the weekend’ Friday night dance show and Zane with his fast paced nightly unleashing of the freshest new sounds – both are sure to be given a rousing welcome when they hit up the festival.

It is with huge excitement that RockNess can announce the appearance this June of an artist who will without any doubt be one of the festival’s highlights, MYLO.  In a very special treat, MYLO will, for one night only, be bringing his famed EPP party to The Highlands. With a host of guest DJ friends to be revealed, expect a full scale hip wiggling, nu disco inferno mixed up with trademark genius throwbacks from the beat loving electro wizard.

KNIFE PARTY – the side project of Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillem – has been touring and tearing up dancefloors in clubs across the world for the last year playing remixes of Swedish House Mafia, Nero, Porter Robinson as well as a load of their own heavy hitting material with Skrillex and Mistajam.  Recently released EP No Modern Talking is a smash, brimming with energy-packed madness and the wackiest beats you’re likely to hear. RockNess kids get ready!

Also confirmed are Glasgow rockers KASSIDY. The guitar wielding, four piece’s joyous harmonies draw on a range of influences most notably Crosby, Stills and Nash and the Grateful Dead, and their part folk, part hippie sensibility, captured to gorgeous effect on debut album Hope St unashamedly spans evocative and rousing Americana in equal measure.

Scotland’s ADMIRAL FALLOW know what they’re doing. Songs that are heartfelt, honest and as pure as the Scottish snow, harmonies that can’t help but raise a smile, melodies that blossom into glorious anthemic hooks, debut album Boots Met My Face, recorded at Glasgow’s famed Chem 19 studio with Paul Savage (former Delgados drummer) is probably the best example of orchestral indie folk-pop as you’re likely to hear. Magnificent.

Mystery JetsInheritors of Britpop and exponents of what could be loosely termed British guitar indie, London’s MYSTERY JETS are that…and so much more. Their inventiveness and output of ideas means they operate on a plateau far above most of the competition, with their most obvious peers being Super Furry Animals and British Sea Power. Three albums in, culminating in the triumphant third Serotonin, and a much anticipated fourth due for an April 2012 release, RockNess awaits their Highland arrival with fervour.

Minimalist and menacingly reggaetronic, JAKWOB transcends the genres of dubstep, electro, ghetto-tech and breakbeat and is one of the hottest new producers and DJs around. Aged 22, he is already one of the go-to guys in remixing – Lana Del Rey, Little Boots, Empire of the Sun, Frankmusik, Lily Allen, Coco Sumner, Temper Trap and Ellie Goulding have all received the JAKWOB magic. However it is for his forthcoming album that expectations are high. Using his multi instrumentalist skills (he plays nine), and collaborating with writing and vocal partner Rocky, a sound rich with variety and inspired by flavours from his life so far is anticipated.

On the party trip CLAUDE VON STROKE is a name synonymous with good times, and is announced as the second SOMA RECORDS act for 2012. Expect genre busting grooves, wonky beats and gear changing brilliance from this San Francisco-based maestro as he asserts control of the sensory extravaganza that is the ARCADIA AFTERBURNER.

ANIMAL FARM are four friends Darren Quail, Chris Lamb, Charlie Turtle and Ronin Vallelly. Influenced by early Detroit and Chicago techno, the boys have spent the last seven years perfecting their sound as residents at one of the planet’s most revered clubs, the SUB CLUB.  The boys have brought many of their electronic heroes to Glasgow including Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Regis, Sandwell District, Ryan Elliott, Marcel Fengler and Mark Henning to name a few…plus a host Glasgow’s young talent including Harvey McKay, Gary Beck, BCR Boys, Mr. Copy and Simon Stokes. ANIMAL FARM also broadcast weekly on the city’s lead student radio station, Sub City.

Championed by Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens amongst many others, LITTLE COMETS are an indie-pop troupe to behold. Hailing from the North East of England, marvellous debut album In Search of Elusive Little Comets was a joyful collection of some of the catchiest tunes of 2011 and shining follow up EP Worry should see this excellent young band move into well deserved regular playlist territory.

Hailed by VOGUE as one of indie’s breakthrough stars of 2012, LUCY ROSE is an English singer songwriter whose full capacity, live performances are fast commanding a proper sense of occasion. Likened to Joni Mitchell and tipped as an English Suzanne Vega, ROSE, who has contributed vocals on Bombay Bicycle Club’s two most recent albums, exudes a quiet determination with a clutch of deceptively sweet songs that make her appearance at RockNess well worth the effort to check out.

Often called a prodigy of the electro genre, PORTER ROBINSON is a 19 year old producer who has rapidly ascended the ranks of the international electronic music scene, captivating audiences with his ability to skilfully blend genres into his own unique sound that's complex yet catchy, and classic yet cutting edge. He’s performed with Deadmau5, Moby, Afrojack and A-Trak. Check him out at RockNess to see why.

By all rights, BASTILLE should have a record deal and chart success such is the beautiful potency of their material. Festival slots at Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, Glade and Great Escape aside, the four piece from London have been marching on and growing their fanbase. Through this steady promotion, and the recent release of a thoroughly decent EP containing notable gems Icarus and Flaws.it now finally looks like BASTILLE’s moment could be arriving.

With a one off single released on the Communion label of Ben Mumford of RockNess headliners MUMFORD & SONS, and a well received EP My Crooked Saint, rousing folk rockers TO KILL A KING are an exciting new five piece whose poetic lyrics and gritty music has them as ‘ones to watch’ this year.
