deadmau5 returns to London to headline South West 4 2017

Visionary. Pioneer. Geniu5. These are some of the words that have been used to describe your Sunday night headliner.  Deadmau5 is regarded amongst the elite of electronic music artists that have ever stepped foot on the planet. Back in London for the first time in three years, Sunday 27th August 2017 will witness the Mau5’ return to London following his last appearance in the city which witnessed him dominate the SW4 main stage in 2014. Fast-forward to 2017 and he is back with a vengeance with a brand new album and ready to tour the globe with jaw-dropping and stunning production levels. With a 22 date US tour on the horizon and a brand new residency on BBC Radio 1, there is no doubt that one of the greatest producers on the planet is on a mission to demonstrate why he is #1!

An absolute titan of house and techno, Marco Carola is the undisputed leader of a hugely competitive scene. The man from Naples has been championing his sound across the globe for many years now and his hugely popular Music On parties have captured the imagination of the dance music community. His weekly summer residency at the world famous Amnesia Ibiza has seen him regularly break attendance records at the huge Balearic venue. His dominance is so much so that he has now started his own festival in the clubbing city that is Amsterdam as he continues his world domination. We cannot wait to welcome the one and only Marco Carola back to SW4!

ALSO JUST ANNOUNCED (A-Z):
DUSKY LIVE, GARETH EMERY, MATADOR LIVE, NICKY ROMERO, PAN POT, THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS & ZINC VS CRIS LORENZO

The London duo are deep in preparation for their new LIVE tour as they set to embark on a series of sold out shows across the country showcasing their latest productions. Their vocal & synth-led productions have allowed them to standout amongst a plethora of hugely talented acts around them. Dusky Live, Clapham Common, Sunday 27th August. This will be special…

Born in Southampton, Raised in Manchester, based in L.A, Gareth Emery’s tour schedule doesn’t look too dissimilar to that. Always jet setting from one side of the world to another, Gareth is one of the hardest working DJs out there.  His last visit to the capital witnessed a sold out show at the world-famous Roundhouse in Camden as an army of Gareth’s fans descended to the North London venue. A regular at London’s longest standing weekly night, The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, he knows the lay of the land and will absolutely smash Clapham Common to pieces come August Bank Holiday!

Matador’s formidable LIVE show has been a constant talking point in dance music as the Irish man has been working tirelessly to perfect his energetic sound. A regular guest at Richie Hawtin’s ENTER party, he has been performing extensively in Ibiza and at Enter events all over the world from Brixton to Amsterdam and farther afield in Los Angeles and Miami. Now looking to take his career to the next level, Gavin Lynch aka Matador is definitely one to watch for 2017 and we are eagerly awaiting his performance on the beautiful landscape of the Common!

Nicky Romero has stamped his authority in the electronic music scene with the Dutch maestro considered to be one of the leading exponents of the high octane sound that has dominated many parts of the world in recent years. A consistent over achiever in everything he does, Nicky is used to playing to thousands of reveler’s worldwide as he sells out clubs from Europe to Asia. Bank Holiday Weekend will no different as thousands of Londoners descend onto the Common.

Since their inception in 2005, Pan-Pot have become a dominant presence in modern techno, an ascent mirrored in the rise of their home label Mobilee records to the top tier of electronic music. Tagging themselves as “the dark side of the force,” Pan-Pot have melted minds, warped perceptions and reinvigorated the dance floor with their heavy, unorthodox sound. We cannot wait to welcome this techno heavyweight back to Clapham Common for what’s sure to be a bold and uncompromising performance!

The brothers from the Bronx have been nothing short of a sensation in the electronic music scene in recent years. The Martinez Brothers’ burst onto the scene at the early age of fifteen and have been one of the leaders in the global house music scene since then. Holding a residency at the world-famous DC-10 since 2011, their high-energy performances and in-depth-knowledge of house music have made them favourites across dance floors worldwide. The brothers will be making their SW4 debut this summer and their unique ability to guide the crowd through a musical journey like no other means they are the perfect addition to what’s already shaping up to be a huge house and techno line up at SW4 Sunday…

When you put together one of the most respected artists in the UK scene with another that is carving his own way to becoming the same, you get Chris Lorenzo back to back with DJ Zinc. Zinc has been one of the most prolific and talented artists in the scene for over two decades and his recent tour schedule means he’s definitely not looking to slow down. On the other hand. Lorenzo has received huge critical acclaim for his new album and is destined for great things. We can’t wait for this world-exclusive back to back which is sure to blow the roof off!

HD Festival 2014 Review

Into its fourth year, High Definition moved to a new venue to deliver its biggest line-up to date. On 5 July 2014 a short bus ride from Tunbridge Wells’ train station lead to the stately Eridge Park which seemed more befitting to a Jane Austen Period drama than an all-out dance fuelled Saturday festival.

A surprisingly slow queue opened out into a large grassed space circled by various tents and surrounded by some truly impressive views of the countryside. Heading straight to the bar following instructions to purchase drink tokens for all liquid transactions we found the £5 beers quite reasonable.  There was also a wide range of beverages available if beer wasn’t your thing.

The festival was well put together with two bars, one at either side of the site, two large tents and a few smaller tents, with some fairground rides you would have found at an old-school rave situated at the center. The main stage was tucked away at the back of the field which worked well in delivering minimal through traffic for the crowd who were there to see Carl Cox, Marco Carola and Jon Rundell.

The sound systems were solid and the DJs looked like they were having a lot of fun across the board. Carl Cox delivered a classic set late in the afternoon in the bright sunshine sun to everyone’s surprise because of the forecast of rain. Oneman, as usual did not disappoint in the evening playing to the packed out Digital Arena before Gorgon City stepped up and played their recent hits, as well as Ten Walls’ Walking with Elephants, a personal favorite of mine and what seemed to be everyone else’s too.

An apparent no-show from Ms Dynamite disappointed a few people but there was plenty to make up for it; Huxley, Midland and Bicep had the crowds firmly in their grasp throughout their sets and delivered beat after beat to warm receptions.

If you wanted to up the tempo with a trip to the Epidemik rave tent it was best to get in there early and experience a stand out display from Eksman and Logan-D taking us through the late and great years of DnB, one rewind at a time.

High Definition provided a great day out with big acts and a vibe I would be happy to return for.

JUST ADDED TO SW4 SATURDAY…

ALESSO
“London get ready! See you at SW4” Alesso

After honing his skills alongside the Swedish House MafiaAlesso’s catalogue of Beatport #1’s include ‘If I Lose My Mind’‘Years’ and last year’scollaboration with Calvin Harris ‘Under Control’. These productions led to a string of headline performances in 2013 including Ultra,Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival to name a few. Inevitably with any act of his stature, Alesso has also firmly marked his Ibizan territoryafter stunning crowds at Amnesia and Ushuaia. Add to this his Uprising World Tour which witnessed all tickets to London’s O2 Brixton Academysell out in a matter of hours and Alesso’s ability and extreme popularity is there for the world to see. SW4 get ready to raise your hands as we welcome Alesso for the very first time in his only London festival performance this year…

JUST ADDED TO SW4 SUNDAY…

MACEO PLEX · MARCO CAROLA

MK · NETSKY LIVE · SKREAM

Seduced by the sounds of underground house and technoMaceo Plex has evolved into one of the most technically gifted artists on the planet today. His beautifully crafted yet punchy productions are instantly recognisable and can be found on the world’s leading imprints includingCrosstown Rebels, Cocoon and his own Ellum Audio. Having been responsible for many of Ibiza’s greatest highlights last season with performances at Circoloco, Enter and Amnesia’s Opening and Closing parties, Maceo’s demand has been hightened further recently with stellar performancesfor Cocorico, BPM, Holy Ship and Stereosonic. Following his sold out warehouse show last weekend at Factory7, SW4 will welcome Maceo Plexfor the very first time in his only London festival performance of 2014.

Marco Carolaglobal ambassador of techno and one of the most talented DJs to have ever walked the Earth. After last week’s spectacular performances as part of the Music On Weekender at Electric Brixton, Marco joins us for his final London appearance of 2014. His debut at SW4last year proved to be one of the most magical moments of our 10th Anniversary, with his mindblowing set responsible for causing near apocolyptic scenesLondon has been crying out for another summer appearance from the Italian master and we are delighted that SW4 is his festival of choice. Marco arrives on Clapham Common from his epic residency at Amnesia Ibiza, which in recent months has also taken New York and Miami by storm. Prepare to be mesmerised by this techno tour de force as Marco treats South West Four to his exquisite beats.

Another act making his long awaited SW4 debut in 2014 is undeniably the hottest property in house music right now; Marc Kinchen aka MK. Having been responsible for creating some of the defining sounds and biggest house tracks in the 1990’s, including ‘Burning’ and his pioneering remix of Nightcrawler's 'Push The Feeling On', MK took a break from dance music until 2011 when he remerged more prolific than before. Through his timeless productionsMK’s  renasissance has infuenced a new generation of fans resulting in his sound becoming more dominant today than it ever has been. After releasing ‘MK In The House’ for Defected in 2013, it was clear that MK was back to his very best, with his remix of Storm Queen’s #1 single ‘Look Right Through’ becoming the pivotal track. Further remixes of Disclosure, London Grammar, Hot Natured, Haim andPaloma Faith are additional evidence of his huge demand and with world domination on the cards in 2014, we cannot wait to welcome the Area 10boss for a house music masterclass

Playing South West Four for the very first time, we bring you Belguim’s premium drum & bass export for a London festival exclusive. Boasting an array of drumssynthskeys and live vocalistsNetsky is widely considered as one of electronic musics most exciting live prospects. Signed toleading imprint Hospital Records, his productions are self-influenced and demonstrate a significant amount of creative flair accompanied by avariety of heavy and dark edges. After unveiling his astounding live show at Brixton’s O2 Academy back in 2012, we have fought ever since to bring him to SW4. Often found touring his signature sound across AustraliaUSA and Canada in recent months, this rare live London peformance isguaranteed to go down in SW4 history.

Having performed regularly at South West Four over the years as both Magnetic Man and back-to-back with Benga2014 will witness Skream arrive onClapham Common to showcase his new sound. Since repositioning himself as a house and disco DJ, the dubstep architect has been universally welcomed into the 4X4 scene with open arms. Heavy support from Eats EverythingClaude von StrokeJustin Martin, and Pete Tong in addition toregular appearences at Bugged OutHoly ShipThe Warehouse Project and Fabric have enabled the Skreamizm boss to successfully showcase this new chapter in an already heavily decorated career‘Rollercoaster’ is the latest sudio effort from the South London producer and explores the much lighter, disco-edged sound he has since become associated with. With new material set for release before the summer, the BBC Radio 1 Friday night host is sure to provide us with another unforgettable performance.
