DEADMAU5
Back in London for the first time in three years, Sunday 27th August will witness the return of Deadmau5to London at SW4. The initial announcement of this industry leader created an unbelievable buzz across London’s dance music community and every day we get closer, the intrigue intensifies. In recent weeks, the Mau5 has revealed blue prints of the massive production that is set to make an appearance on the Common and is widely regarded as one of the most impressive set-ups in electronic music. Are you ready?

KNIFE PARTY
Consisted of two members of SW4 Saturday headliners Pendulum, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen have put their touch of genius to their other hugely successful project; Knife Party. Since their inception in 2011, the domineering duo have been a mainstay on the top of huge festival line ups and have sold out the most prestigious venues across the globe, most notably at the 02 Academy Brixton. Their explosive and high-octane sound have made them favourites in all corners of the globe with fans eagerly anticipating the pair’s return wherever they go! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome one of the most influential acts in dance music to Clapham Common, for the 14th installment of South West Four.

 SUB FOCUS LIVE
A juggernaut of electronic music, Sub Focus’ constant output of top class productions and performances has meant that he well on his way to world domination! He first debuted his critically acclaimed live show a few years ago and it went onto dominate festival stages all across the globe. He is now back with version 2.0 and you can expect a LARGER, LOUDER and MORE COMPLETE version of this outstanding LIVE set up that cements Sub Focus on the map as one of the most in-demand artists on the planet today! His return to the festival will see him play on the main stage for the very first time, whilst his brand new album is set to take him to another level. We’re hugely excited to be a part of it!

ALSO PERFORMING ON THE SW4 SUNDAY MAIN STAGE (A-Z)

 BAKERMAT LIVE
Bakermat catapulted himself into the dance music five years ago and he hasn’t looked back since. The Dutch native is from a select breed of artists who have come to the forefront of electronic music in recent years who tap into the more melodic side of house music and have discovered huge success doing so! His recent visit to the capital witnessed two huge back-to-back sell out shows at Electric Brixton as he showcased his Circus party to 3500 revelers in south London! Sunday 27th August will see this hot shot land into the common and perform his LIVE show for the first ever time in London! With an ever growing fan base all across the globe, we are tipping this to be one of the performances of the weekend!

JAUZ
When Skrillex officially endorses you, you know you’re doing something right! The past 18 months have been an absolute whirlwind for American producer Jauz who has gone from producing in his bedroom in 2014 to selling out arena tours all across the States. A quick-fire XOYO sell out at the tail end of 2016 demonstrated that the appetite for this whizz kid is clearly rife and his bass-heavy sound has caught the attention of many. Jauz will be making his SW4 debut this summer and with him being tipped for the top, this is an artist you can’t afford to miss!

MARTIN SOLVEIG
Parisian house giant Martin Solveig has become a stable-diet on festival main stages around the world and a go-to artist when it comes to getting the party started. Having honed his innate ability to sense the vibe being emitted from the crowd, Solveig never fails to manipulate the dance floor. With this in mind, it will come as no surprise to hear he’s held a five year residency at Ibiza super club Pacha and featured on the biggest lineups on the earth’s most illustrious stages at the world’s most prestigious festivals like Ultra Miami, Electric Daisy Carnival and Tomorrowland. We can’t wait to welcome Martin this summer for his debut appearance at SW4!

TCHAMI
Paris is known for breeding the most popular and notable artists on the planet and Tchami is one of its finest. Having formed a close relationship with DJ Snake who took the young producer under his wing, his last visit to London saw a frenzy of fans pack out Electric Brixton for an exhilarating show. He made his SW4 debut last year on the main stage and played a stand-out set when the sun was going down. This has been etched in people’s memories and his return to the main stage will be nothing short of magical!

REDLIGHT
Lobster Boy records head honcho Redlight has become a firm favourite at SW4 HQ over recent years. He is part of a group of artists who burst onto the scene in rapid fashion around five years ago and he has kept it consistent since then. The Bristol native has become hot property in Europe with his vast knowledge of the genre allowing him to stand a cut above the rest. Redlight will make his debut on the SW4 main stage and add another milestone to his fledging career!

WHAT SO NOT
Australian sensation What So Not is a god amongst men when it comes dance music in the south hemisphere. Worshipped by millions of fans, his soulful and instrumental driven tracks have taken him to the next level. Following in the footsteps of industry leaders such as FLUME, What So Not is in the handful of producers who are on the top of their game. The summer of 2017 will see him make his debut and perform on our huge main stage for the very first time!

VERY SPECIAL GUEST:

 EXAMPLE + DJ WIRE
Example’s intrinsic lyrical excellence and wonderful ability to seamlessly fuse together a plethora of high-octane genres has led to him becoming a one of the most popular artists in the world. So much so that we had him headline our 10th anniversary in 2013 as he absolutely tore the common to pieces with an incredible performance. Since that jaw-dropping performance, he has been the one of the main talking points within the dance music community with his latest album capturing the imagination of many! Joining him will be DJ Wire who has accompanied Example all around the world with notable shows at Ibiza’s world famous Amnesia! We are hugely excited to welcome Example back to SW4 for what will be a performance to remember!

deadmau5 returns to London to headline South West 4 2017

Visionary. Pioneer. Geniu5. These are some of the words that have been used to describe your Sunday night headliner.  Deadmau5 is regarded amongst the elite of electronic music artists that have ever stepped foot on the planet. Back in London for the first time in three years, Sunday 27th August 2017 will witness the Mau5’ return to London following his last appearance in the city which witnessed him dominate the SW4 main stage in 2014. Fast-forward to 2017 and he is back with a vengeance with a brand new album and ready to tour the globe with jaw-dropping and stunning production levels. With a 22 date US tour on the horizon and a brand new residency on BBC Radio 1, there is no doubt that one of the greatest producers on the planet is on a mission to demonstrate why he is #1!

An absolute titan of house and techno, Marco Carola is the undisputed leader of a hugely competitive scene. The man from Naples has been championing his sound across the globe for many years now and his hugely popular Music On parties have captured the imagination of the dance music community. His weekly summer residency at the world famous Amnesia Ibiza has seen him regularly break attendance records at the huge Balearic venue. His dominance is so much so that he has now started his own festival in the clubbing city that is Amsterdam as he continues his world domination. We cannot wait to welcome the one and only Marco Carola back to SW4!

ALSO JUST ANNOUNCED (A-Z):
DUSKY LIVE, GARETH EMERY, MATADOR LIVE, NICKY ROMERO, PAN POT, THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS & ZINC VS CRIS LORENZO

Leaders of the UK underground, BBC Essential Mix of the Year contenders, DJ Magazine cover stars, headliners everywhere from Berlin's Panorama Bar to London's Fabric, Dusky's story so far is one of constant forward motion and universal appeal. The London duo are deep in preparation for their new LIVE tour as they set to embark on a series of sold out shows across the country showcasing their latest productions. Their vocal & synth-led productions have allowed them to standout amongst a plethora of hugely talented acts around them. Dusky Live, Clapham Common, Sunday 27th August. This will be special…

Born in Southampton, Raised in Manchester, based in L.A, Gareth Emery’s tour schedule doesn’t look too dissimilar to that. Always jet setting from one side of the world to another, Gareth is one of the hardest working DJs out there.  His last visit to the capital witnessed a sold out show at the world-famous Roundhouse in Camden as an army of Gareth’s fans descended to the North London venue. A regular at London’s longest standing weekly night, The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, he knows the lay of the land and will absolutely smash Clapham Common to pieces come August Bank Holiday!

Matador’s formidable LIVE show has been a constant talking point in dance music as the Irish man has been working tirelessly to perfect his energetic sound. A regular guest at Richie Hawtin’s ENTER party, he has been performing extensively in Ibiza and at Enter events all over the world from Brixton to Amsterdam and farther afield in Los Angeles and Miami. Now looking to take his career to the next level, Gavin Lynch aka Matador is definitely one to watch for 2017 and we are eagerly awaiting his performance on the beautiful landscape of the Common!

Nicky Romero has stamped his authority in the electronic music scene with the Dutch maestro considered to be one of the leading exponents of the high octane sound that has dominated many parts of the world in recent years. A consistent over achiever in everything he does, Nicky is used to playing to thousands of reveler’s worldwide as he sells out clubs from Europe to Asia. Bank Holiday Weekend will no different as thousands of Londoners descend onto the Common.

Since their inception in 2005, Pan-Pot have become a dominant presence in modern techno, an ascent mirrored in the rise of their home label Mobilee records to the top tier of electronic music. Tagging themselves as “the dark side of the force,” Pan-Pot have melted minds, warped perceptions and reinvigorated the dance floor with their heavy, unorthodox sound. We cannot wait to welcome this techno heavyweight back to Clapham Common for what’s sure to be a bold and uncompromising performance!

The brothers from the Bronx have been nothing short of a sensation in the electronic music scene in recent years. The Martinez Brothers’ burst onto the scene at the early age of fifteen and have been one of the leaders in the global house music scene since then. Holding a residency at the world-famous DC-10 since 2011, their high-energy performances and in-depth-knowledge of house music have made them favourites across dance floors worldwide. The brothers will be making their SW4 debut this summer and their unique ability to guide the crowd through a musical journey like no other means they are the perfect addition to what’s already shaping up to be a huge house and techno line up at SW4 Sunday…

When you put together one of the most respected artists in the UK scene with another that is carving his own way to becoming the same, you get Chris Lorenzo back to back with DJ Zinc. Zinc has been one of the most prolific and talented artists in the scene for over two decades and his recent tour schedule means he’s definitely not looking to slow down. On the other hand. Lorenzo has received huge critical acclaim for his new album and is destined for great things. We can’t wait for this world-exclusive back to back which is sure to blow the roof off!

Boardmasters 2016 Review

BOARDMASTERS 2016.

Boardmasters is undoubtably Cornwall’s biggest festival. Much like it’s partner, Nass, Boardmasters thrives off its love for music and sport. This year I had the pleasure to head down to the beautiful coastline of Newquay to soak in the sun, the surf and the music.

For anyone who has yet to go to the festival, it is located over two main beaches, Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. Surfing competitions including Men’s and Women’s Open and Men’s and Women’s Longboard (LQS1000) located at Fistral and the music located at Watergate, with this year’s headliners being Chase & Status, Deadmau5 and James Bay. Other sports include BMX and Skateboarding which took place over the course of the weekend at Fistral as well as music ranging from Eliza & The Bear to Rat Boy at Watergate.

Walking into the festival arena on Friday, it was clear that it was something special. With the main stage to my right and the never ending sea on the horizon to my left, the atmosphere and energy was a completely different level to that of a city based festival. The air was fresh, the sun was out and the music was loud. With a buzz of people heading down from all over the country to go and embrace the popular festival, the diversity of families, students and children meant this festival was welcoming for all. One of the first acts which caught my attention was Nahko and Medicine for the People who really captured the alternative melodic music scene which is ever increasing down in Cornwall. Having played London’s KOKO in Camden a few days prior, the Oregon-native and percussion heavy artist drew a surprisingly huge crowd for such an early time slot.
Another up and coming band which caught my attention were the blues rock ’n’ roll trio Smokin’ Durrys. All three bands members spent their university lives down in Cornwall and where brought together by their love of classic rock and blues music. After their performance at Boardmasters, they are hoping that because of the positive reaction from their set that they are in the hopes of securing a slot in next years Truck, Y Not and 2000 Trees Festival.
As the day drew on all I could hear around the arena was the anticipation for Catfish and The Botttlemen. Having played Truck and Y Not Festival this year, they have definitely been one of my favourite acts of the summer and their crowds do not disappoint. Having been announced for Lollapalooza, Berlin as well as touring USA with Mumford & Sons, it is clear that they could easily be headlining festivals next year.
Chase & Status however proved that they deserved that headline slot. Drawing the biggest crowd of the day making the perfect end to the first day of the festival by playing some of their most classic and popular tunes.

I headed down to Fistral Beach for the majority of Saturday to witness the Surfing Men’s Open competition. As you walk down to the beach the paths are crowded with stalls selling all kinds of food and surf related clothing and merchandise. The sun and the clear blue sky, the clear water and the plan trees made Newquay look like California.
The beach was packed with spectators, photographers, and families, all soaking up the beautiful weather proving why Cornwall is one of my favourite places in the UK. The men’s open consisted of over 50 surfers battling it out for the grand prize. The semi-final consisted of Heat 1 between Shane Campbell and Tomas Fernandes and Heat 2 between Angelo Bonomelli and Bruce Mackie. With 0.57 difference Bonomelli managed to take lead in his heat taking him to the final alongside Campbell. However when it came to the final, an interference on Bonomelli’s second wave meant that Shane Campbell with a final score of 13.50 took the winning title of Boardmasters Men’s Open 2016. All scores from the other surfing events as well as video highlights from the 5 days at Fistral can be found on the official Boardmasters website. (http://www.boardmasters.co.uk/surfing/results)

By the evening I had made it back to the arena at Watergate to continue with the music, starting with Gabrielle Aplin. Famous for her feature in the 2012 John Lewis advert with her Frankie Goes to Hollywood cover of ‘The Power Of Love’. Her music is a lot more relaxed than the rock headliners of the Land of Saints stage, Maximo Park, but none the less her music brought a beautiful innocence and relaxation to the festival. Her voice so pure and strong for a 23 year old, drawing a huge crowd and performing songs for her first 2012 EP Home and her 2015 Album Light up the Dark.
Kaiser Chiefs undoubtably had a staggering, if not bigger crowd than Chase & Status. They are a band who have been around for many years but have proven they can bounce back with strong force. Bringing all kinds of characters together to enjoy the classic Brit-pop band, they played songs such as Ruby which drove the crowd wild.
Headlining on the Saturday of Boardmasters was Deadmau5. (I have never heard so many people pronounce his name incorrectly at a festival). His electronic dance music brought a beach rave element to the Newquay Festival. Having been a fan of his music for a long time, his set did not disappoint with a spectacular light show which took you into a trance with his melodic tracks. With many waiting impatiently for Craig David’s set after, it was much to his disappointment that he had to cancel his appearance due to a flight cancellation which left his fans upset. Nevertheless, Example performed his heart out to make up for this over at the Land of Saints stage.

Boardmasters had a range of different stages including Unleashed which centred around DJ and dance music, The View which turned an old metal camper into an acoustic stage and the forever famous Keg and Pasty Stage, which essentially summed up the Cornish atmosphere brilliantly.
The final day of the festival had a more rock and alternative lineup with Primal Scream performing main stage and James Bay finishing the night. With the previous headliners bringing electronic music to festival, having the folk-pop style of James Bay on the final night proved to be an excellent finale. Boardmasters is one of the most beautifully located festivals in the UK, and it is definitely worth the travel to far ends of the UK to visit.

Mumford and Sons to headline Reading and Leeds Festival 2015

Reading & Leeds Festivals are very excited to announce Mumford & Sons as Main Stage headliners!  The British rock band last appeared at Reading & Leeds in 2010 when they performed a triumphant set to a packed NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage. The band return to Reading & Leeds just four years later as Festival headliners.

Festival boss Melvin Benn comments:

“I’m delighted to have secured Mumford & Sons for Main Stage headliners this summer and can’t wait to see them return to the Festivals for their first UK performance in over two years. With today’s announcement of a further eight great acts joining the bill, the Reading & Leeds line-up is already shaping up to be one of the best ever and I’m looking forward to revealing the third headliner and even more great artists soon.”

Reading & Leeds continue to tear-up the festival season by securing performances from some of the biggest bands around.

Royal Blood bring what the NME memorably described as an “absolute turbo bastard of a rock record” to Reading & Leeds exclusively this summer; the duo’s unique take on drums and bass has seen their self-titled debut sell almost a million copies worldwide to date.

Bastille are no strangers to the Festivals, having debuted on the Festival Republic Stage in 2012 then returned to storm the NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage in 2013.

As one of the biggest progressive-house producers in the world, deadmau5 promises to use incredible live production to give Reading & Leeds fans one of the biggest dance sets of the weekend.

Supergroup Rebel Sound formed of Chase & StatusRageDavid Rodigan and Shy FX combine reggae and dancehall beats through to drum ‘n’ bass and jungle – Chase & Status gave Reading & Leeds ‘crowd destroying’ sets in 2013; fans won’t know what is going hit them this summer.

Chase & Status said: "The last time we played Reading & Leeds, the crowd were insane and we had to stop the set four times – there was so much energy. This year, we’re coming back as Rebel Sound, Culture Clash Champions 2014 – ourselves and Rage, David Rodigan and Shy FX. We’ve only performed together once and it’s safe to say that night was incredible. We’re already preparing the new dubs…can’t wait to see what the Reading & Leeds crowd will bring this summer.”

Having spent years on the road honing their craft Catfish and The Bottlemen’s debut LP ‘The Balcony’ saw them catapulted into the public consciousness. With a sold out tour on the horizon including two nights at the legendary Brixton Academy, Reading & Leeds is the perfect place to catch tunes like their irrepressible single ‘Cocoon’.

The band said: "Made up to announce that we'll be back at this year’s Reading and Leeds! Last year really was a gamechanger for us and one of, if not the best shows we've ever done! This year's gonna blow it away…"

After recently topping the BBC Sound of 2015 poll, London’s Years & Years will be making their Reading & Leeds debut. Bringing their expertly considered pop melodies to the Festival to perform singles, ‘Desire’ ‘Take Shelter’ and ‘King,’ they'll show why they've been deservedly crowned stars.

The band said: "Wooooo we are so excited to be playing Reading and Leeds Festival! We'll be bringing three times as many synths as Metallica – can't wait to party with you all."

Lead by the beautiful, melancholy vocals of lead singer Ellie Rowsell, North London’s Wolf Alice craft skuzzy grunge-pop of a quality that has seen them championed by media and fans who have pushed them up through the ranks of Reading & Leeds.

Youthful indie-punk four piece hailing from Merthyr Tydfil in the Welsh Valleys, Pretty Vicious have already received daytime BBC Radio 1 support from the likes of Fearne Cotton and Greg James. The band’s set is sure to turn heads at the Festivals this summer.

Mesmerising singer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Garratt will be returning to Reading & Leeds this summer with his spellbinding vocals, triggered samples and amazing guitar solos.

Hannah Wants began the year named as Mixmag’s breakthrough DJ of 2014 and will make her Reading & Leeds debut with her hard-hitting, heavy bass sound. Hannah’s bound to put her mark on the Festivals when she drops her hit ‘Rhymes’.
