David Guetta, Tiesto, Eric Prydz and more to headline Electrobeach 2016

France’s biggest electronic music festival Electrobeach is set to have worldwide fans gravitating to it’s latest edition, as it prepares to return to the stunning Port-Barcarès for its fourth official anniversary this July. In a line-up packing enough weight to make galactic waves, a celestial cast of David GuettaTiëstoMartin GarrixEric PrydzAxwell / IngrossoHardwell, Martin Solveig and many more are amongst confirmed names for 2016 – with the festival announcing the addition of a brand new techno-focused stage for the very first time.

Constituting a solar system of acts big enough to have orbits of their own,Electrobeach eclipses all for this year’s three-day spectacular. French supernova David Guetta acts as captain, with a whole array of groundbreaking and ground-shaking artists set to join him. ‘Opus’ hitmaker Eric Prydz will make an appearance alongside Dutch superstar Martin Garrix, with the Tiësto returning in triumph as do Martin Solveig and Axwell / Ingrosso. The festival even welcomes red carpet rebel Ruby Rose to it’s A-list clique, as well as Moombahton master Dillon Francis, Nile Rodger’s and Rihanna collaboratorNicky Romero and IDMA’s number 1 Global DJ Hardwell.

Upholding the French Tricolour and all the passion of its dance community, the ‘Treasured Soul’ of Michael Calfan is confirmed, as well as one of Forbes’ ’30 Under 30’s DJ Snake. This year’s Beach Stage will be purely focused on the countries most exciting exports – welcoming the likes of Norman Doray andGregory Klosman – and sees Electrobeach putting French DJ’s and nightclub residents at its front and centre throughout the weekend. Paris’ Fun Radio are also on the scene with their specialist selectors, set to air a ‘le son dancefloor’ out of studio and under the sun; likewise, Flaix FM crash the party from Catalan to flex their own respected residents. In a festival first, Electrobeach’s patriotism will be pushed even further with a prized demonstration from thePatrouille de France – a flyover of famous flair that will fill cloudless skies in what’s set to be a stunning weekend highlight.

Proving themselves attuned to the meteoric rise of techno, Electrobeach’s next and last trick for 2016 is to call on the cut of crews in CocoonLuciano & Friends, and a yet to be announced third force. With Cocoon’s very own SvenVäth on board, the festival packs no punches with the addition of dance legendLuciano. Label residents Marcus Fix and Cesar Merveille will represent each brand respectively, making Electrobeach’s latest expansion both equally authentic as it is exciting.

With Electrobeach 2016 continuing to captivate crowds as it celebrates every eccentricity of the electronic music scene, its position in the festival calendar shines brightly. For those looking for a picture perfect setting and pitch perfect sound, its three-day offering is an unmissable one.

Creamfields 2015 Review

This August Bank Holiday Weekend 2015 I returned to Creamfields for the first time in over a decade to see the “cream” of international DJs perform to tens of thousands of revellers a day.

I arrived fashionably late on the Friday evening and was pleased to see the hospitality campsite still had plenty of space for me to pitch my tent.

I soon made my way out into the festival arena.  Not every arena was open on the Friday but the ones that were were very busy.

Rebel Sound (also known as David Rodigan, Chase & Status, Shy FX and MC Rage) headlined one of the numerous big top arenas that night.  The predominantly young and very lively crowd lapped up the old skool jungle vibes.

Over in the Mega Arena trance God Armin Van Buuren headlined with his first set of the weekend (he was playing on Saturday too).  He played a mix of new and old tracks, closing the night with his new tune featuring Mr Probz, Another You.

Saturday for me was all about the Chemical Brothers, in my opinion the greatest live dance act on the circuit.  They headlined the North Stage with a sound and vision extravaganza featuring amongst other things a giant robot and big bouncy balls.

Earlier in the day I’d spent some time in the Smirnoff House for Ben Pearce’s disco set which included Todd Terje’s Inspector Norse.  Mistajam played a garage classics set and the young ravers enjoyed being up close and personal with the Radio 1Xtra star.  A party set from him followed which started with Ghostbusters (yes really!).

The highlight of Sunday for me came very early when I, a few hundred others and Fatboy Slim met up at the South Stage at 9am.  We were all given black caps and rain ponchos and were instructed to lie on the pre-drawn white lines on the grass in the shape of a smiley face in an attempt to break a UK record.  Now this might sound like an easy task but when you take into account that most of the group were a little worse for wear and hadn’t been to sleep all night you might get an idea of what really went down.

Fatboy Slim was extremely friendly and hung around for photos, hugs and kisses with anyone who wanted them after the helicopter had passed overhead to take photos.  It was a lot of fun and well worth getting up early for.

Sunday ended up as clash central for me with legendary DJs in almost every tent including Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Paul Van Dyk.  Along with the slightly older DJs came the slightly older crowd.

The Pepsi Max Arena on the Sunday became the trance tent where Ferry Corsten pleased the arms aloft crowd with gems such as Rank 1’s Airwave.

It was a tough choice deciding which DJ to end the festival with with big names such as Axwell and Ingrosso, Hardwell, Fatboy Slim and Tiesto all playing at the same time.

Fatboy Slim played a crowd pleasing set which was slightly more commercial than the set I’d seen him play at Bugged Out Weekender earlier this year.  This suited the Creamfields crowd well as they stomped along to favourites such as Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat.

Over on the South Stage Tiesto headlined with big tunes including the infamous Adagio for Strings.

When 11pm came around it was time for the fireworks and the last tunes to ring out.  The young ravers were sad it was all coming to an end but were already making plans for next year.

Electric Daisy Carnival UK 2015 Review

The world renowned Electric Daisy Carnival returned to the UK on 11 July for its 3rd edition.

One week before the festival excitement on social media was reaching its peak.  Around this time I stumbled across a group on Facebook for people going solo to EDC.  By the day of the festival there were over a 100 people in this group from not only all corners of the UK but from further afield too.

A number of us decided to meet up at Lake Furzton, Milton Keynes, close to the festival site, the morning of a festival.  The sun was shining and we were all in good spirits.  A short while after the gates opened we made the short walk over to the north entrance of the National Bowl where entry was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

I soon hit the KineticFIELD, a lush green and wooded area which is set in a gigantic bowl meaning no matter where you stood in the arena you had a great view of the stunning KineticCATHEDRAL main stage.  With a glowing neon pipe organ bookended by gigantic, 45 foot tall twin owls, the stage played host to a full stage show incorporating dozens of performers, and of course DJs including Steve Aoki and Hardwell, that unfolded throughout the day.  The 90 feet high and 240 feet wide structure weighs more than 200 tons.  It featured 20 multi-coloured lasers and multiple massive LED screens, giving the illusion of detailed stained-glass windows to match the cathedral theme.

I took a break from the KineticFIELD to check out the rest of the site.  It was a very hot day but at the chill tent the wellbeing crew were on hand giving out water and sun cream to festivalgoers (or Headliners as EDC prefers to call us).  This was a nice touch.

Around the back of the main arena I came across the NeonGARDEN.  The stand out set here came from  headliner Jamie Jones.

I walked a little further and hit the CircuitGROUNDS, a playground for lovers of bass heavy beats.  This large tent was very busy all day and Pendulum and Sub Focus went down a storm.

My favourite of the smaller arenas was the CosmicMEADOW where the sweet sounds of trance and electronic rang out.  Cosmic Gate put in an awesome performance in the afternoon.  Later in the evening trance legend Ferry Corsten showcased his new track Anahera under his alias GouryellaPaul Van Dyk headlined this stage to a smaller than usual crowd due to his clash with Tiesto in the KineticFIELD.

At 9.30pm most of the 35,000+ ravers descended on the KineticFIELD to see the aforementioned legend that is Tiesto close the show.  He was accompanied by a full on stage show including fireworks, waterfalls and streamers.  It was a sight to behold from up on the hill.  His set included my personal favourite, his iconic remix of Adagio for Strings.

EDC UK is a very well organised festival in a wonderland setting.  It has excellent production values not only on the main stage but in all four arenas.  EDC UK has established itself as a festival big boy so the others had better watch out!

Electric Daisy Carnival returns for its third year to the UK in 2015

Today the world-famous dance music festival Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) announced that, for the third year in a row, it will return to the UK on Saturday 11 July, 2015.

A legendary venue, Milton Keynes Bowl provides the perfect setting for EDC UK, while the brightest stars in dance music will light up four breathtaking stages/arenas, each possessing their own unique vibe.  DJs will converge from the four corners of the world to celebrate the enduringly popular genre of techno at neonGARDEN, keeping it deep and dark from dawn to dusk. kineticFIELD presents an exciting mix of big arena electro-house artists, and circuitGROUNDS brings a seminal lineup of drum & bass pioneers who have progressively deconstructed the genre into the cutting-edge sounds and subgenres of today. At cosmicMEADOW, a stellar array of favorites has been assembled to transport Headliners straight to the stratosphere.

LINEUP SO FAR: Critically acclaimed Art Department is deep, dark and minimal. Los Angeles-based Carnage deftly fuses electro, hip-hop, pop and trap into an intoxicating brew that’s dirty, defiant, and diverse. Detroit-born Claude VonStroke, owner of Dirtybird Records and now living the life in Venice Beach, remixes everyone from Kenny Larkin to London Grammar. Cosmic Gate feed off one another’s turntable creativity to whip up a frenzied digital supernova. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have enjoyed a continuously upward trajectory from celebrated DJs to dominating figures in the electronic music industry. Dutch legend Ferry Corsten coaxes maximum emotional impact from his records, ensuring his place at the top of the electronic music Hall of Fame. Showing his masterful skills behind the decks, BBC Radio 1’s very own Friction will be mesmerizing Headliners on four decks with unreleased cuts. Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell won the DJ Mag Top 100 poll for the last two years. High Contrast will be joined by MC Wrec and Ilan Bluestone.

Jamie Jones, leader of the new sound of house, is renowned for his pioneering music, his cross-genre band Hot Natured, his groundbreaking Hot Creations label, and his world-famous event series, Paradise. In less than a decade, he has catapulted himself to stardom by shattering genres and breaking out of the confines of minimal techno. Jamie’s revolutionary sound is an instrumental part of his success, being both artistically innovative, yet easily accessible. Also appearing will be John O’Callaghan, Jordan Suckley B2B Bryan Kearney, Kove and Linguistics—as well as Marco Carola, widely regarded as one of techno’s true pioneers. From his stellar Ibiza residency each summer to his shows across the world, Carola and his Music On parties and record label have become synonymous with cutting-edge music. Markus Schulz is a regular at EDC events around the world and known affectionately by his fans as “the Unicorn Slayer.”

Matrix & Futurebound have defined a whole new era in drum & bass via their skillful fusion of epic, melodic soundscapes with heavyweight dancefloor production and original vocals. Rising star Miguel Campbell and BBC Radio 1’s Mistajam will be in attendance. The debonair Paul van Dyk—German DJ, musician, producer, Grammy winner and torch-bearer for the scene—had the longest unbroken run at #1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, was the first DJ ever to be voted as #1 in Mixmag, and boasts remix and production credits for the likes of U2, Depeche Mode and New Order.

This festival lineup wouldn’t be complete without drum & bass kingpins Pendulum (DJ set) with Verse. Raw and controversial, with momentous killer beats, they are not to be missed. One of the UK’s hottest new talents, Philip George, had the biggest breakout record of 2014 with “Wish You Were Mine.” PureNRG Live and Richy Ahmed will be performing live. Route 94 has quietly yet forcefully established himself as a distinctive young figure in the house music scene. For his latest album project, Cornerstone, Shy FX revisits old-school studio techniques and collaborates with a mouthwatering lineup of special guests. Drum & bass duo Sigma need little introduction; from early releases on labels such as Hospital and Viper Recordings, they have cemented themselves as an integral part of the scene. Steve Aoki head label Dim Mak, and Simon Patterson is a star of UK electro house. Sub Focus’ single releases span a plethora of electronic genres, from drum & bass and dubstep to house music and beyond. One of Holland’s most prized exports, DJ and producer Tiësto is a Grammy nominee and multiple winner of the celebrated DJ Mag poll. His legendary progressive electro house sound—along with his uncanny ability to read a crowd’s energy—makes him a perfect deck magician. Visionquest, wAFF and Will Aktinson round out the lineup, with more to be announced.

Hardwell headlines Dance Arena at Exit 2015

EXIT Festival is proud to announce that the Number 1 DJ in the World Hardwell, will be coming to the Dance Arena this summer. The global superstar is set to take to the decks on Friday 10th July 2015, and will be bringing his signature sound to the Petrovaradin Fortress for the very first time. This top-selling hit-maker from the Netherlands remains the king of the global Top 100 DJ rank list for a second year running and is also the youngest ever holder of the coveted World’s No.1 DJ title. Having just this week released his debut album, Hardwell looks set to reach even greater heights than before and so we are delighted to have him play for us this year.

HARDWELL
Hardwell’s unprecedented success story in the electronic scene doubles as a phenomenon which echoed through the world music industry. In the last couple of months, his producing skills secured the favours of the biggest global stars such as Rihanna, Coldplay, Ellie Goulding and 30 Seconds to Mars. While Hardwell’s fame was fuelled by popular remixes, his enviable success was brought on by hit singles “Spaceman“, “Countdown“, “Jumper“, “Apollo“ and many more. Hardwell’s newest album “United We Are“ which features hit singles ‘Arcadia“, ‘Young Again“ and “Sally” , which we are will sound even better bouncing off the fortress walls in the legendary dance arena.

Balaton Sound announce first set of acts for 2015

2015 for the MasterCard Balaton Sound audience starts with a promising line-up of DJ’s including Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Afrojack, DVBBS, Showtek and more already confirmed to provide the beat for the 4 day long beach party by Lake Balaton in Hungary. In 2015 the event will take place on the 9-12 July, where the program will be mind-blowing, the beach will be refreshing and the festival will ultimately be the best 4 days of the summer.
