London’s most unique festival is compacted into two days this year as Battersea is transformed into an international snow sports venue complete with alpine-style ski village, the centrepiece being the iconic 32m high and 100m jump packed with 200 tonnes of real snow.
Saturday’s slope action sees the best of the British team compete with the world’s finest snowboarders for the London leg of the FIS-sanctioned World Cup and the third event on the Men’s LG World Cup tour, kicking off the UK winter sports season. Slovenian Marko Grilc claimed victory in last year’s event, but British hotshot Jamie Nicholls will be keen to improve further on his fine showing in 2010.
On the Friday, the world’s finest freestyle skiers compete in an international competition during Friday’s action from the slope where rising star Paddy Graham will be amongst the British athletes hoping to upset the much-fancied Swedes, who took all three places on the podium in 2010.
When the sun sets on the slope, the Relentless Energy Drink Freeze Festival will this year welcome headline acts The Streets, and Groove Armada presents Red Light on the main music stage, plus Zane Lowe, Everything Everything, The Joy Formidable, Beardyman and Summer Camp.
Saturday night headliners The Streets, fronted by Mike Skinner, will perform one of their last ever gigs at the event after announcing they will split later this year following the release of their final album back in February. Supporting them on the main stage on Saturday night is alternative rock band Everything Everything, whose scalding post-punk guitars and floor-filling bass lines have seen them nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize Album of the Year. Saturday will also see the highly acclaimed three-piece welsh band TheJoy Formidable join the bill alongside Summer Camp, the mysterious boy-girl duo whose music has received widespread critical acclaim.
Groove Armada will be bringing their critically-acclaimed new ‘Red Light’ sound and visuals show to the main stage on the Friday night. The DJs, renowned for floor-fillers such as Paper Romance, Get Down and Superstylin’ will be performing at the Freeze Festival as part of a series of exciting gigs on their current tour. Also taking to the stage on Friday night is DJ Zane Lowe whose enthusiastic and fast-paced DJ set is guaranteed to raise the roof at this year’s Freeze Festival. Award-winning MC, Beardyman will also be joining the bill; his phenomenal beatbox skills, leftfield sense of humor and incredible musicality have made him an act not to be missed.
One of the newest attractions to the Relentless Energy Drink Freeze Festival 2011 will be the TUACA Lodge. The premium vanilla citrus liqueur will be putting on a party with top tunes from some of the UK’s best DJ’s and providing front row views of all the action from the slope. Come and enjoy a TUACA and hot cloudy apple juice whilst soaking up the atmosphere of FREEZE.
Fans wishing to attend the event are advised to visit www.relentlessfreeze.com for further ticket information.
Tickets are priced at £37 for a day pass, £60 for a season pass (2 days) and VIP day tickets for £58. Child day tickets are priced at £17 and a child’s season pass at £28.
One of the most successful and influential bands the British metal scene has ever produced,PARADISE LOST are true pioneers, with their early blend of death/doom giving way to the more melodic sound that defined the gothic metal genre. Guitarist Greg Mackintosh observes:
"We had the pleasure of playing the first ever Bloodstock Open Air way back in 2005, when it was quite an intimate affair. It's an honour to be asked back to BOA 2012, which looks to be shaping up to be a blinding festival. Since we last played, we have seen BOA grow into the Great British metal festival it is today. We look forward to seeing you all down the front."
With a back catalogue spanning twelve albums over twenty two years – and a DVD set for release before Bloodstock 2012 ("Draconian Times MMXI" features the London show at The Forum on April 1, a documentary from the whole tour, interviews about the history of "Draconian Times" and the two promo videos from their latest album, "Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us") – PARADISE LOST are one of the few bands capable of delivering a set that will satisfy both fans of more brutal, death tinged doom with songs such as “Eternal”, “As I Die” and “Gothic”, as well as the melodic, gothic darkness of “Embers Fire”, “Hallowed Land” and “The Last Time”.
Joining them are Swedish Black Metal misanthropists WATAIN, who make their BLOODSTOCK debut at a very special slot on theRONNIE JAMES DIO stage. Festering in the Black Metal underground since 2000, WATAIN’s rise through the ranks has been an impressive one, with Erik Danielsson’s dedication and conviction setting them apart, leading the band to become one of the most prolific acts on the scene today. Of next year’s appearance, the band states:
"The United Kingdom has spawned many a thing inspirational to Watain, be it druidic sorcery, Venom or Judas Priest. Our performances there have always been spiced with a nameless sensation of raw power, and this is the main reason why we have chosen Bloodstock to be one of the very few festival shows we will perform next year. As always, expect something very far from the ordinary."
Famed for their incredibly atmospheric live shows, their set at BOA 2012 will be their biggest UK performance to date, and as such the band are preparing to deliver a suitably memorable set, with a show full of satanic majesty planned, as blood, fire and fierce Black Metal spew out over a dusk covered CATTON HALL.
BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012 takes place at Catton Hall August 9th – 12th. Four day camping tickets for next year’s event are available now at bloodstock.uk.com for just £90 (plus booking fee) until xmas.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of confirmation that they will play another landmark ‘OneNight Stand’ show at New York’s Madison Square Gardens on December 16th 2011. This will see Swedish House Mafia – Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso – make history when they become the first dance act to have headlined both venues. These shows, once again, reaffirm their status as global superstars.
Swedish House Mafia will join an enviable list of music legends who have headlined the National Bowl including Oasis, Green Day, Metallica, Eminemand Foo Fighters. The list of artists who have played Madison Square Gardens reads like a veritable who’s who of music dating from the late sixties to the present day.
The band are also set to release a live album (date tbc) taken from the road this year. The album will feature their much sought-after, previously unavailableColdplay Vs Swedish House Mafia ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ plus ‘Antidote’, their new collaboration with Knife Party (Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen).
The Swedes have already enjoyed phenomenal success to date. Not only did their recent UK tour sell out in minutes which saw a second night added at London’s Alexandra Palace, but they soldover a million singles in 2010 alone, saw their album ‘Until One’ reach Gold status, co-headlined Radio One’s Big Weekend and played major festivals including Creamfields, T in the Park and Oxegen. Internationally, their infamous Masquerade Motel events sold out in Miami, Las Vegas and Ibiza where they enjoyed a sixteen week residency.
However from 9am on Wednesday 28th September until 9am on the 30th, SHM Originals (ticket holders to the very first Brixton shows by the band) will have exclusive access to tickets before anyone else. These fans will be mailed on Saturday 24th September with a unique code as a thank you for their continued support.

Pete Tong’s career is inextricably intertwined with the history of acid house and electronic music. 2011 has been one of his busiest years to date, withPete celebrating the 20th Anniversary of his BBC Radio 1 show and a greatly anticipated return to Pacha Ibiza for a weekly residency. In June this year he also released an excellent double mix album with Felix da Housecat entitled ‘All Gone Ibiza 11.’ A true legend of dance music we’re delighted to welcome Pete to The Great Hall for the Together Winter Music Festival.
Death in Vegas are one of the most exciting and unique bands to ever emerge from the UK dance scene. In 2011 Death in Vegas have returned with one of the most exhilarating albums of the year, as ‘Trans Love-Energies' fuses dub, psychedelic rock, techno, grunge and analogue electro to create a sound that is out of this world. Performing a full live set with Richard Fearless on vocal duties, Death in Vegas joins the outstanding lineup showcased inThe West Hall.
SebastiAn has followed such an impressive path that it’s hard to believe that he’s only now releasing his long-awaited debut album. Alongside Justice, SebastiAn is one of the creators of the Ed Banger sound and readily defies the rules to deliver a dirty and violent kind of techno that coughs and spits.Super prolific and constantly effervescent, this musician has managed, in the space of a few years, to redefine electronic music. We are delighted to welcome him to the Together Winter Festival this November for an exclusive live performance.
John Dahlback is further testament to the theory that there must be something in Sweden’s water supply when it comes to producing outstanding DJs and producers. Undoubtedly one of the worlds finest house prodigies, Dahlback landed his first record deal aged just 15 and in the ten years since has released tracks on many of the most respected labels. With a unique style that incorporates pure house through to electro, techno and progressive, John’s sound is carefully considered and meticulously polished. With such a promising career ahead we wait with anticipation for his set at Alexandra Palace.
In the years since his first album back in 1999, Sébastien Leger has released more than thirty tracks on many international labels, building his reputation as a key player within the new blood of talented house and techno producers. Parallel to this, he launched his own label ‘Mistakes Music’ in 2007, whilst becoming more and more in demand for his remixing skills. One of France’s greatest exports, Leger will be a true delicacy at the Together Winter Music Festival.
Simply put, Chris Lake is one of the world’s great DJs and producers. In 2009 he gained two Billboard Dance chart airplay number 1’s and undertook countless tours. 2010 saw him tour the globe and become a resident with Cream, playing Amnesia for the Deadmau5 & Friends parties. In 2011 he has continued his residency, rocking the famous Terrace all summer long. His label Rising Music continues to go from strength to strength andTogether’s Winter Music festival will be another great moment in his distinguished career.
Alex Metric’s latest album ‘Open Your Eyes’ brings together the three stands of his musical outputs. Standout tracks include ‘End of the World’ and his soaring epic house collaboration with Steve Angello, ‘Open Your Eyes’. With that said, Alex is probably best known for his outstanding remixes andsuperb DJ sets and with all these strings to his bow, we are in for a real treat.
Grum will also join The West Hall line-up, hot on the heels of his debut album ‘Heartbeats’ breaking into the top five in the US electronic music chart, winning the Best Electronic Artist of 2010 on US itunes and delivering excellent performances at Rockness, Parklife and Creamfields.Grum will feature alongside one of the UK’s hottest emerging producers, remixers and DJs from the past 12 months; Russ Chimes. Starsmith, having claimed critical acclaim from Mixmag and The Guardian for his past projects, has gone on to play at various festivals this summer included Exit, The Big Chill, Rockness, with Together the next festival on his hectic schedule.
The hugely talented Jeremy Olander has caused quite a storm in the dance music world throughout the course of this year. Championed by Eric Prydz as’the next big thing’, Jeremy will feature in The Great Hall. Aged just 24, Mark Fanciulli has notched up an impressive reputation which has seen him play clubs across the world including Ministry of Sound, Set Miami, Pacha San Paolo, Avalon Los Angeles and many more. Responsible for co-running Saved Records with his brother Nic, Mark has also released on key labels such as Joris Voorn’s Rejected and Josh Wink’s Ovum. Get ready to witness his talent at Alexandra Palace this November.

Genre-refusenik Maverick Sabre adds his own inimitable flavour to the House of Fun Weekender, with a cross cultural collision of Reggae, Hip-Hop and Soul. After receiving high praise for his “The Travelling Man” mixtape and collaborations with Professor Green and Chase and Status, Maverick Sabre stepped out on his own, with his ethereal vocals and sublime guitar propelling him into the Top 20 with his debut single “Let Me Go”. Spontaneous and dynamic, Maverick Sabre’s live show has been turning heads, making him one not to miss.
Also joining the bill for the inaugural House of Fun Weekender is Baxter Dury. Currently enjoying critical acclaim for his third album, “Happy Soup”, Baxter’s kitchen sink vignettes and seaside psychedelia are about as perfect as it gets for a good old knees-up. Intrinsically linked to the nutty world of Madness, Baxter’s unmistakable intonations and cutting observational tales of failed romance and real lives lived run deep in his blood.

John Giddings, Festival Promoter, says “We have been advised by the ferry companies that to run the same week as half term and the Jubilee would be problematic for our audience and production infrastructure. We have therefore taken the executive decision to move, for one year only, to 22/23/24th June 2012 to ensure a smooth journey for everyone and to get the entire infrastructure on and off the island”.

The first act confirmed for the RONNIE JAMES DIO main stage next year are legendary Canadian comeback kings ANVIL. ANVIL are true defenders of the faith, having never lost sight of their vision to create uncompromising, dyed in the wool heavy metal. They have been on a rock ‘n’ roll journey for the past 30 years and while few bands can make it to the three year mark, ANVIL have closed in on three decades of the most uncompromised and ear pleasing metal known to headbangers.
Ever since the award-winning documentary “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” propelled the Canadian band from their respectable, hard-earned status as a band revered by the likes of Metallica, Motorhead and Guns N’ Roses,ANVIL founding members, vocalist/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner, have made sure that one thing remains constant; their dedication to their music. Their performance at BOA 2012 is bound to be a memorable one in BLOODSTOCK’s history.
Home-grown stoners ORANGE GOBLIN are first to be confirmed for the SOPHIE stage next year. Since the mid 90s, ORANGE GOBLIN have upheld the traditions of great British heavy rock and metal, cementing their place in rock history as pioneers alongside the likes of Monser Magnet, Kyuss, Fu Manchu and Clutch. Since their formation in the late night drinking holes of London’s Soho, the band have risen to the very pinnacle of what they do, earning a reputation as an awesome live band that has seen them share the stage all over the world with the likes of Alice Cooper, Heaven & Hell, Sex Pistols, Kreator, Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig, Monster Magnet, Nashville Pussy, Cathedral, Nebula, Unida, Alabama Thunderpussy, Dio, Grand Magus, Witchcraft and many more. Returning to BLOODSTOCK for the first time since the inaugral indoor event in 2011, anyone under the canvas of the SOPHIE tent while OG are on its stage will be helpless against the sheer power and presence of man mountain/frontman Ben Ward, and will be in for one of the weekend’s highlights.
BLOODSTOCK have released early bird tickets for next year’s fest at rock bottom prices. Four day camping tickets for next year’s event – which takes place 9th – 12th August next year – are available now atbloodstock.uk.com for just £90 (plus booking fee) until xmas.
