Rolling Stones confirm their long awaited return to the stage in London and New York

As the crowning glory of their on-going 50th anniversary celebrations, the rock icons will play to thousands of fans at London’s O2 Arena on November 25 and 29, and then across the ocean to perform at the Prudential Center, Newark, near New York, on December 13 and 15.

All ticketing information is available at www.rollingstones.com.

These sensational live shows will be the first opportunity for audiences to see the Rolling Stones perform on stage for more than five years. They will treat their generations of fans in a must-see, heart-pumping celebration of era-defining tracks such as Gimme Shelter, Paint It Black, Jumping Jack FlashTumbling DiceIt’s Only Rock and Roll, plus a few surprises and countless other classics from GRRR!, the multi-format compilation RS50 album coming out in November marking the Stones’ astonishing five decades at the top.

Mick Jagger commented, “Everybody loves a celebration, and London and New York are two good places to do it in!”

Keith Richards said, ”Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over. I've always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones.  I'm here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!"

The Rolling Stones have always been at the forefront of technical innovation in their live appearances, and these dates will reaffirm their place on the cutting edge of concert technology. These 50th anniversary performances will see the band working once again with their acclaimed, long time collaborators, set designer Mark Fisher and lighting director Patrick Woodroffe.

The new shows will be another groundbreaking visual landmark in Stones history. Fans can look forward to an all-new, custom-built set design, with a stage based on the band’s ubiquitous and celebrated tongue and lips logo, which will reach out into the crowd and become a truly must see and hear experience, with integral video screens and effects enhancing the sort of high-octane adventure for which the band’s concerts have been famous for decades. The 2012 concerts will mark the first time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have performed together as a band since three acclaimed nights at London’s O2 Arena, in 2007.

The Rolling Stones live shows will also mark the launch of a new venture in global touring – Virgin Live.  Virgin Live sees the coming together of two globally respected brands – Dainty Group and Virgin Group – and promises to shake up live touring by putting the fan's experience right at the heart of every show they promote.  Richard Branson and Paul Dainty's history with the Rolling Stones spans five decades – so it is apt that these shows, which celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary – marks them joining forces for the first time as Virgin Live to promote the greatest band there has ever been.

Paul Dainty said  “I’ve worked with the Rolling Stones for many years and I still get a buzz every time I see them live, these four shows are without doubt a must-see event. I am extremely excited about this collaboration with Virgin.  There will be a lot more to say about Virgin Live soon but, for now, it’s all about the Stones…”

Richard Branson added:  "Today marks the beginning of Virgin Live and what a beginning!  In the future Virgin Live plans to make a real difference to how fans experience, interact and enjoy live events – Virgin Live gigs will be truly people driven.  It's great to join forces with Dainty Group to launch Virgin Live with the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary shows.  Who would have believed, that a relationship with the band that started in the Sixties, would still be going strong five decades later with us working together again on these amazing shows."

In celebration of five decades, The Rolling Stones will release the GRRR! album on 12 / 13 November, a Greatest Hits collection which includes two new songs ‘Doom and Gloom’ and ‘One More Shot’, recorded recently in Paris, marking the first new recordings from the band since their 2005 album A Bigger Bang. A new film, ‘Crossfire Hurricane’, directed by Brett Morgen, chronicling the key periods of the Stones’ career, will receive its worldwide premiere on 18 October at the London Film Festival and will be simultaneously screened in 250 cinemas across UK and Ireland. Crossfire Hurricane will premiere in the U.S. at the HBO Premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York on 13 November. Crossfire Hurricane will air on HBO in the U.S on 15 November, and broadcast on BBC Two in the UK the same month.  Additionally, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City will host “The Rolling Stones: 50 Years on Film”, a comprehensive film retrospective that chronicles the band from the mid-1960s until today. This exhibition will be open 15 November through 2 December.

Also partnering with Dainty Group is global production company Endemol who will co-manage the international digital rights to the Rolling Stones “50 and Counting” shows.

Tim Hincks, President of Endemol Group said: "We are extremely proud to be partnering with the world’s greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll band and with the Dainty Group.  "50 and Counting" is set to be a phenomenal global celebration of the Rolling Stones and we’ll soon be announcing further plans to make it an interactive experience for fans like no other."

This partnership between Endemol and Dainty Group will see the final Stones show, staged at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on December 15, telecast live via pay-per-view at 9pm ET.  The pay-per-view entitled “One More Shot” will be distributed by WWE, the world’s pre-eminent provider of pay-per-view programming. Further details of the partnership will be revealed shortly.

WWE Chairman/CEO Vince McMahon said: "WWE is ecstatic to bring The Rolling Stones into your living room, live on Pay-Per-View for "One More Shot," the last date of their 50th anniversary shows."

Attention Wychwood fans, you can invest in the festival

In a challenging financial year that has seen many festivals, both large and small, crippled by a host of external factors including the wealth of free events available to people across the UK through the London Olympic Cultural Olympiad programme, Tribe will be the first company to trial crowdsourcing as a potential capital stream for a UK festival.  For a one-month period, Tribe Festivals Ltd offer a number of shares via the Crowd Cube platform to up to 200 individuals. In return for the share capital of £1000, new investors will receive a pair of tickets for life* to Wychwood (valued at £280 each year), plus up to 12 tickets each year for friends and family that can be purchased at half price.  There will also be a host of additional benefits to new investors, who can buy their share here:www.crowdcube.com

Investors wishing to buy shares in Tribe Festivals Ltd will also be able to reap a host of other benefits as an investor in the company including discounted tickets to other Tribe-owned or run projects.  There will also be a host of benefits available to investors onsite at Wychwood Festival each year.

New investors will be able to take advantage of EIS relief and will be entitled to a share of profits from the business going forward. A potential investment of £1000 will buy 10 shares in Tribe Festivals Limited, out of an available 200,000 shares in the company. This will give a small return by dividend when the company starts reporting a profit. However the main financial benefit comes with the free ticket opportunity that comes with the shareholding:

Each Year investors will receive:
£240 of free tickets (at 2013 prices- ticket prices generally increase slightly each year)

£840 of savings in tickets for friends and family
£50 of bar credit
£50 of merchandise
Total value £1100

With this benefits package in place, investors would have potentially already seen a return on their investment in Year 1 and can then continue to expect this as a minimum year on year thereafter. With EIS Eligibility, the investment would actually only cost £700 in real terms, meaning if the investor just took their free tickets and bar/ merchandise for 2 years again they would already be in a return situation. This is also excluding other event opportunities that Tribe may have. If the investor is unable to come to one or more festivals their free tickets can be transferred to friends/family, so the saving is never lost. In addition to this, if the investor brought any new business opportunity or sponsorship opportunity to the company they would also get a profit share from that event of 30% or sponsorship commission of 20% of the opportunity.

Investors would be free at any time to sell on their shares under current market rules and the new investor would then benefit from all of the above opportunities.

Enterprise Initiative Scheme:

Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS) have the following benefits:
  • 30% Income Tax Relief for investments up to £1 million p.a., reducing net cost to investors to 70p per £1 invested.
  • Tax Free Growth – no capital gains tax payable on gains realised on investment.
  • Loss Relief – losses to net cost (i.e. below 70p per £1 invested) can be off set against income in year of disposal or previous year, reducing capital at risk to 35p per £1 invested.
  • Capital Gains Tax Deferral – capital gains deferred up to amount subscribed for shares. •Applies to gains arising three years prior to, and one year after, issue of qualifying shares.
  • 100% relief from inheritance tax for EIS qualifying investments held for more than two years.

For Wychwood Festival fans who simply wish to buy tickets to the festival, a limited number of early bird tickets are available from the Wychwood Festival website or by calling +44 1993 700558.

Graeme Merifield, co-founder and Festival Director of Wychwood Festival said; “Just after the 2011 Wychwood Festival we had a big rethink about where we want to take the festival and our other projects. I’m very pleased to say that we have a new and exciting team on our board and we want to expand our Tribe business into a number of other events, so it seems only fitting that we invite those who have been loyal to our current festival portfolio over the last eight years, to come and join our Tribe”.

Green Day to headline Rock Werchter 2013

Already there have been previous announcements that Blur, on Friday July 5, and Rammstein, on Saturday July 6, will be performing at the festival in Werchter (Belgium). More soon!

Uno, dos, tres… Green Day are back among us after a short break, with an abundance of drive and inspiration. America’s most exciting punk band is releasing three albums in four months: ¡Uno! (September), ¡Dos! (November) and ¡Tré! (January). The trio is full of surprises. Green Day have masterfully reanimated punk twice already. ‘Dookie’ (1994), with the super singles ‘Basket Case’ and ‘When I Come Around’, is the most successful punk record of all time, with 16 million albums sold. Oddly enough, the band faded away completely after that. Ten years on, they rose again with ‘American Idiot’ (2004). This concept album about an anti-hero called Jesus Of Suburbia is even being turned into a musical. Its successor, ‘21st Century Breakdown’ (2009) also has a storyline. This album rapidly went gold and beyond in 19 countries and made the band global stars. What to expect? Perfect punk-pop and high-quality entertainment. Modern music rarely provides as complete an experience as a Green Day concert.

Rock Werchter 2013 will be held from Thursday 4 July to Sunday 7 July in Werchter (Belgium). For four whole days the very best can be seen and heard on three stages in the Festivalpark. Established artists, today's and yesterday's heroes and the big sensations take to the Main Stage as usual. The Pyramid Marquee hosts all flavours of electronic dance on Thursday and Friday. And then it's the upcoming talent, the more intimate performances and dance beats into the small hours on Saturday and Sunday. In the Barn, it will be nice to see old friends, but discover tomorrow's heroes. It's a sort of in-festival concert hall. Rock Werchter books acts from every musical genre. And it goes down well. The festival is an international hit. At Eurosonic in Groningen, Rock Werchter scooped the European Festival Award for "Best European Festival Line-Up". More than 140,000 (unique) festival goers from all around the world found their way to a sold-out Rock Werchter over the four days of the festival in 2012.

Tickets for Rock Werchter 2013 will go on sale as from Friday November 2nd.
More information will be announced soon.

Blur to headline Rock Werchter 2013 on Friday

Blur are the most interesting musical phenomena of the past 25 years. The Britons have accentuated this themselves with "21" (2012), a beautiful cube that contains the band's more or less entire output. It is really remarkable how the London four-piece manage to touch their listeners with both loud ("Song 2") and soft ("Tender") songs and how pleasant it is to mix pure pop ("Coffee & TV") with experiment ("Beetlebum"). You will find it all in there and all of it is equally great. Blur are now operating on a sporadic basis, as this is what suits the individual members best. Drummer Dave Rowntree has been a lawyer for a while now, guitarist Graham Coxon is working under his own name, bassist Alex James is making cheese and writing and front-man Damon Albarn is the most fascinating musical human being of his generation (Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Africa Express and Dr Dee). Blur have adapted to this new reality and it works out just fine. A striking feat: their music is now more solid than ever. In 2012, Blur wrote 2 new songs ("The Puritan" and "Under The Westway") ahead of their massive sold out show in London's Hyde Park which were debuted on Twitter via a live video stream from a London rooftop. They are a band of/for our time.

Hideout 2013 will not clash with Glastonbury

While the festival's organisers remain largely silent on details of next year, they have revealed to their fans that "while it is massively close, Hideout 2013 will not clash with a certain legendary festival that takes place back home [in the UK] around the same time – if you've got the stamina you'll be able to do both" putting paid to supporters fears that there might have been clashes with Glastonbury Festival.

While Hideout 2013 tickets have not yet been released, organisers have confirmed that the specific dates will be revealed in November and tickets will be put on sale at the same time, so those who are keen can start planning their trip. For those eager for more, Hideout have released a brand new video of 2012 highlights, including some of the best shots from this summer. Edited by Marry Us, the video is backed up by Disclosure's What's in Your Head and can be found on the Hideout Festival YouTube channel.

Slipknot confirmed as third headliner for Download 2013

They join fellow headliners Iron Maiden on Saturday 15 June and Rammstein on Sunday 16 June. Weekend tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am and are available at www.downloadfestival.co.uk.

Slipknot’s Clown said, ‘”We are extremely honored to have been asked once again to headline the Download Festival. This most definitely will be an experience not to be missed. Every time we've played Download we have created memories. Its always good to have the church of the Knot, the alter of the Knot, giving the sermon of the Knot to the congregation of the Knot, the culture of the Knot. This summer cannot come soon enough. Partake in the imagination or don’t bitch.”

Slipknot

Slipknot are a cultural force to whom rock fans need no introduction.  A band from Des Moines, Iowa, U.S.A, Slipknot have evolved into something not unlike the alchemists, spiritualists and magicians of yore – the men in Slipknot tap into something primal, instinctual and combustible with each performance, and every album.  The band has notched 11 Platinum albums and 38 Gold albums around the world, but these mainstream mile-markers aside, the engine of Slipknot is the power they derive from their live performance, the fertile ground of their fans and their shared, collective subculture.  Slipknot is devoid of compromise.  They offer no quarter. Take it or leave it.

Slipknot thrives in combustible circumstances, where impassioned performances filled with blood, sweat and fire are raw displays of esoteric wonder with a clear-cut, savagely creative command of expression. Multiple percussive instruments, electronic landscapes and near-apocalypticproportions of stage production bring forth songs like “Psychosocial,” “Duality”, “Wait and Bleed,” “Spit it Out,” “Before I Forget”, “Snuff”, “Sulfur,” and “People = S**t”.  All modern classics, and anthems for a disenfranchised generation, full of depth, meaning and hidden blueprints for positivity within a framework built from anger, depression, rage, sadness and darkness. Slipknot embodies the full scope of the human experience, spit out and handed over to the crowd.  Always imitated, never duplicated.

Andy Copping, VP of Promotions at Live Nation commented: “Slipknot’s last appearance at Download has gone down in the festival’s history as one of the best ever headline sets. God knows what they’ll have in store for 2013 but I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll top the last one.”
