Liam Gallagher added to Reading and Leeds Festival

Already boasting a phenomenal line-up of indisputable headliners and the hottest voices in modern music, Reading & Leeds has announced even more names for this year’s festivals, taking place between 25 – 27 August 2017 at Richfield Avenue, Reading and Bramham Park, Leeds. Tickets are available here.

Rock ‘n’ roll legend and an unmistakable icon of music history, Liam Gallagher will be bringing his highly anticipated solo performance to Reading and Leeds in a UK Festival Exclusive. One of the most recognised figures in British music, his show will be an attitude filled performance fuelled with Oasis classics and tracks from his debut solo record; announcing the next huge step for the nation’s most unmissable frontman.

Undeniable alt-rock sensations PVRIS will be laying out their marker for the year ahead at Reading and Leeds, as they return to the stage ahead of their long-awaited sophomore record. After becoming the hottest name in emerging rock with the release of debut album White Noise in 2014, their electro-infused anthems have continued to resonate with an audience of devoted fans eager for their next chapter.

Long Beach trailblazer and Def Jam star, Vince Staples has become the definitive voice of rising hip-hop. Earning the respect of influential musical figures such as Odd Future, Earl Sweatshirt, Mac Miller, and Gorillaz following his debut album Summertime 06, his eagerly awaited appearance at Reading and Leeds this summer is sure to be an unmissable coronation of future rap royalty.

From one generation to another, timeless drum and bass titan Goldie will make a very special stop at this year’s Reading & Leeds festivals. A true innovator for a genre and a movement, Goldie transcends British culture, with classic LP Timeless still sounding as raw and captivating as it first did upon release in 1995. With a new album set for release, 2017 is the year Goldie returns with a bang, laid out in full colour at Reading & Leeds this summer.

 With an incredible variety of genres and styles spread across the festival's six stages, Reading & Leeds is bursting with exciting names and defining sounds for 2017 and beyond.

MAIN STAGE

With huge headline performances set from the likes of Kasabian, Eminem and Muse, even more names have been confirmed for their standout moment in the sun on that iconic Reading & Leeds Main Stage. Along with the unmissable returns of Liam Gallagher and PVRIS, politically-charged garage rockers VANT will be making the step-up, following on from a festival-stopping set on last year’s Festival Republic Stage. With debut album Dumb Blood radiating unstoppable hits, expect their performance at this year’s festival to be a journey into unfiltered riffs in full glory. Grunge-tinged indie-pop pair Honeyblood will lay out tracks from second studio album Babes Never Die at the festivals, with LA blues rock duo Deap Vally will be bringing Femejism to both sites, and frenetic London quartet Judas heading back to the Main Stage after their sensational last-minute slot at Leeds last year.

Lynn Gunn, PVRIS:

“We are incredibly grateful to be performing again at Reading & Leeds. Our first experience at the festival was phenomenal and took us completely by surprise. We are excited to see what comes from it this time around and perhaps even play some new tunes *wink wink*

Deap Vally;
"We can't wait to return to the R & L stage and show everyone how it's done”!

Judas;

"We feel totally honoured and privileged to be asked to open the main stage this year. We have been working so hard for so long and it's amazing to be rewarded with the chance to play the main stage at the best music festival in the U.K. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, see you in August! Let's have it"

Honeyblood

“Mega excited to be playing Reading and Leeds this year! It's such a legendary festival and it's an absolute dream come true be on the main stage.”

NME / RADIO ONE STAGE

Spilling with big names and rising favourites, including previously announced headliners You Me At Six, Flume and Haim, the NME/Radio One Stage has announced even more stand-out sets over the weekend. Monumental live performances will come from Mura Masa, the electronic maestro behind hits ‘Love$ick’ and ‘Firefly’. The highly acclaimed producer and multi-instrumentalist will reign over Reading and Leeds with thundering beats and a set that promises to point towards one of the most exciting artists in the world. Bass-giant Sub Focus is set to up the ante with an unmissable live set of eclectic dance, having released new material Lingua earlier this year.

Having made a name for herself through collaborations with Rudimental, Sean Paul and Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie is set to bring her mellifluous melodies and infectious synth lines to the festival. Teenage singer-songwriter extraordinaire Declan McKenna is another new name on the bill who is most definitely primed for big things over the year ahead. Possessing a live show that lights up packed venues and TV screens wherever he goes, and with a debut album out this summer, Declan McKenna’s moment is here and Reading and Leeds is the place to be to witness it all.

Chicago’s The Orwells will be packing out their muscular riffs and catchy refrains for an unpredictable appearance this year, along with Marika Hackman, whose hotly tipped new album I’m Not Your Man is set to drop this summer, full of distinct melodies and a bolder new sound. Expect it to go down a treat when Marika Hackman steps up to the Reading & Leeds stage this summer.

 Brighton geek-rockers The Magic Gang, melancholy indie scuzz three piece Blaenavon and Australia's psych-pop groovers Pond are also lined up for stunning moments over the weekend, while further additions King No-One, SG Lewis, Mutemath and X Ambassadors all add to making the NME/Radio One Stage a not to be missed musical destination throughout the festival.

 Declan McKenna;

“Reading & Leeds is definitely going to be a highlight of the year for me. Am so excited to finally be playing at a festival I love so much and have been to so many times.”

 Zach Lount, King No One;
"Reading and Leeds is such an amazing platform to spread who we are and drive our message of equality to more and more people. We can't wait to share our biggest moment”

FESTIVAL REPUBLIC STAGE

With headliners Bear’s Den, The Black Lips and The Hunna already primed for rapturous sets – the Festival Republic Stage is once again overflowing with future stars and acts possessing that special something that’ll take them to a whole new level. These include renowned garage rock heroes Japandroids, who returned earlier this year with acclaimed new album Near To The Wild Heart Of Life packed full of the shout-along hooks that have packed venues across the globe. 90s guitar riffers Ash are primed for a return to the festivals with a catalogue of indisputable hits at their disposal, while the transcendent grooves of US ambient-electro force Cigarettes After Sex are sure to be a highlight of the festival weekend.

Dazzling with a who’s who of names destined to burst into record collections over the next 12 months, the stage will play host to the likes of Aussie dance-psych kings Jagwar Ma with their infectious cuts from latest LP Every Now & Then, trailblazing indie-noir heroes Black Honey, glacial electro swooner The Japanese House, all-encompassing cinematic dreamers Pumarosa, modern pop tilter Bishop Briggs and Danish eruptive-pop trio Off Bloom amongst others.

After releasing their acclaimed debut About U, MUNA will make their first appearance at the festivals – promising a powerhouse show full of lush harmonies and potent pop perfection. They’ll be joined across the weekend by vibrant guitar-pop gang The Big Moon, sun-soaked pop prince Will Joseph Cook, US garage rock kickers The Districts, Dirty Hit two piece Superfood, Sydney duo Vallis Alps, distinct bassline pointer Cosima, blistering indie upstarts Paris Youth Foundation and the blues-fuelled highs of Ten Tonnes for landmark moments at every turn.

With further sets confirmed from Barns Courtney (Reading Only), LA creator Mondo Cozmo and electric pop swaggers OUTLYA – the Festival Republic Stage is a must-see look at the future of music and the world’s next favourite acts.

 Tim Wheeler, Ash;

"We’re very proud to announce an historic 10th appearance for Ash at the Reading festival. We first performed there in 1995 and our shows at the festival stand among our favourite shows that we’ve ever played, it’s always been a highlight of each year we’ve done it. Somewhere along the way we were promised a statue upon reaching our 10th appearance, so we’re looking forward to the grand unveiling in August!"

Black Honey;
"We've been going to Reading and Leeds since we were little, it's where I crowd surfed for the first time and fell in love with music, it feels so fucking good to be back on the other side of the barrier again this year"

Barns Courtney;

“Looking forward to making my debut appearance at one of my fave UK festivals which was the 1st one I ever a went to as a kid! Looking forward to rocking your little socks off Reading and thanks for the invite”

MUNA;

"We love the U.K. and are beyond thrilled and excited to be able to finally play a festival there!”

THE PIT/LOCK-UP STAGE

Bringing together the hottest names from every inch of the rock world, The Pit/Lock-Up Stage is set to play host to the most genre-defining sets of the weekend as Japanese leaders ONE OK ROCK, riotous live favourites Gnarwolves, riff masters Arcane Roots, high-octane lo-fi duo PWR BTTM and American heavyweights Breaking Benjamin will storm the coveted rock spotlight.

French electro-doom bringer Carpenter Brut, bass-heavy Bristol natives Turbowolf, and grime-punk new bloods Astroid Boys promise to redefine the very meaning of blistering festival performances, whilst Boston Manor, Defeater, VUKOVI, God Damn, WSTR, and Viagra Boys are destined to steal the stage with their raw punk behaviour.

In a seismic billing of alternative power, critically acclaimed Zeal & Ardor are set to bring anthemic black metal to the stage as hotly tipped acts Palisades and Casey reinforce the unapologetic intensity of The Pit/Lock-Up Stage. A monumental mix of fierce acts including Tigers Jaw, Big Jesus, Tired Lion, Culture Abuse, Muncie Girls, TIGERCUB, SLØTFACE, RavenEye, Freak and LIFE promise to take 2017 to another level.

Andrew Groves, Arcane Roots;

Playing the esteemed Reading & Leeds Festival last year was one of the highlights of our career, so to be asked to play again this year, with a new album on the way and an ambitious new sound, is both an honour and a opportunity to unveil what we've only teased at so far. Reading & Leeds has always felt like a proving ground to us, and we'll be certain to bring something special with the likes of Billy Talent shortly after us.

Thom Weeks, Gnarwolves;

"We're very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds this year. It'll be our 4th time at Reading and we get to play on the stage we first played on 4 years ago! I spent my teenage years at Reading, watching bands like Thursday and Sick Of It All, so getting to play is like living out a teenage fantasy…4 times!"

Ben Hopkins, PWR BTTM;

"My mind is completely blown that we are going to be playing Reading and Leeds where so many incredible bands have played for so many years. I just hope my outfit looks good!!!”

Lande Hekt, Muncie Girls:

“We're so exciting to go back to Reading and Leeds this year. Last time Eminem played, Dido made a surprise appearance and amongst the thousands of shocked fans, there wasn't a dry eye to be seen. We can only hope for the same this year. Also the Lock Up stage is amazing. What a way to end our summer!”

Sløtface;

"Just thinking of the fact that we'll be on the same poster as Kasabian, Charli XCX, At The Drive In and Eminem is really exciting. We love the festival life in the UK and this is the biggest UK festival we've ever done, so this has to be amazing.”

BBC 1XTRA STAGE

Promising to be one of the most exciting stages of the weekend, the BBC 1Xtra Stage welcomes Manchester’s finest Bugzy Malone. The northern Grime wordsmith’s credentials remain unchallenged with genre-defining E.P’s Walk With Me and Facing Time entering the UK Album Chart Top Ten. With videos of his flawless freestyles and music videos racking up over 90 million views; it’s no surprise he returns to Reading and Leeds as the stage’s final headliner.

New additions today include London’s grime queen, Stefflon Don, explosive American rapper Vince Staples, the hotly tipped West London MC AJ Tracey, MOBO Award Winner Abra Cadabra, and one of America’s most exciting hip-hop artists and producers, Russ.

Lord of The Mics legend, P Money will take to the BBC 1Xtra Stage, whilst Dante Jones and Drew Love appear as R&B success story, THEY. Critically acclaimed Canadian DJ Lunice will be bringing his highly anticipated mix of hip-hop, breakbeat and trap to the festival alongside hip-hop polymath Akala, freestyle master Big Tobz and grime young blood Jaykae. In addition to these incredible names, DJ Semtex (Reading only), Not3s, Bossman Birdie, A2, and Monster Florence also join the line-up, making for the most exciting BBC 1Xtra Stage billing to date.

Bugzy Malone;

Tinie Tempah added to the SW4 Main Stage

Over our fourteen-year history, our huge main stage has set the tone for what we try to create across the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Whether it’s stadium headliners or future stars, we always put forth exciting and breath-taking talent that sets the standard across the whole festival! The summer of 2017 will see us take things to the next level as we present the most accomplished main stage line up we have ever assembled!

Returning to once again host the SW4 Saturday main stage for the second consecutive year will be none other than TOGETHER. The club night, responsible for ground breaking residencies at clubbing temples Amnesia Ibiza and Ministry of Sound, leads the way when it comes to combining the very best in bass and house acts and after last summer’s main stage mayhem we couldn’t think of a better collective to host proceedings again this year!

With all this exciting news dropping, all we can say is…TAKE. ME. TO. SW4.

FULL LINE UP FOR THE TOGETHER MAIN STAGE

PENDULUM (LIVE)

A jaw dropping live act, with an unparalleled reputation to destroy the world’s greatest festivals and stadiums on the big occasion, SW4 is proud to present the return of Pendulum to the capital for one night only, in their first performance in London in over half a decade. Scheduled to close our mammoth main stage on Saturday 26th August, this is no doubt the bands biggest London show to date – supported by colossal production and mind-blowing visuals conceived for a heart thumping end to Day One.

AN EXCLUSIVE LONDON SUMMER PERFORMANCE: TINIE TEMPAH

In the space of seven years, Tinie Tempah has become a global phenomenon and one of the most recognizable voices in music. Known for his seven number one hits, nine major awards and an accolade of sold out world tours, there is no doubt that Tinie is considered one of the most popular and dominant artists on the planet. Whether it be selling out London’s 02 Arena or stadium’s in Rio, the appetite for this star is truly insatiable. Come August Bank Holiday Saturday, Tinie will step on stage and showcase tracks from his brand new album ‘Youth’, which is tipped by many to be one of the albums of the year, as well as all the hits with which he has made his name. Hailing from South London, it’s only fitting for this sensation to return to his roots and take centre stage and put on a performance that will rank as one of the highlights of his hugely successful career!

DEBUT LONDON FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE & VERY SPECIAL GUEST:  MARSHMELLO

A thunderous London debut in February saw Marshmello sell out the legendary Ministry of Sound in record time and is now back in the capital for his biggest ever show. No artist has ever exploded onto the electronic music scene in such a short space of time like this American phenomenon has. The past year has seen Marshmello amass an unstoppable army of fans, bulldozing through arena tours in the U.S and bookings at the most prestigious and high-profile events across Europe. His performance on SW4 Saturday will be his first EVER London festival performance and with the American seldom stepping foot in this country, it’s an ultra-rare opportunity for the Mello gang to see their man in action! Set to perform before our headliners Pendulum, he is sure to put on a display that will keep chins wagging for years to come!

SIGMA (LIVE)

From their humble beginnings performing in back rooms to headlining festivals and playing at the most respected venues worldwide, Sigma have truly reached the top of their game. The last couple of years have witnessed the duo produce back-to-back number one singles, pick up a BRIT award and embark on a sellout UK tour. With millions of fans globally waiting for their next hit single, the pair have the world in the palm of their hands. We cannot wait to welcome one of the most dominant and prolific acts in dance music right now to play a full live show at our fourteenth installment of SW4.

WILKINSON (LIVE)

After blasting to fame in 2012 with sensational track ‘Afterglow’, this home grown talent has crafted releases now considered amongst the best of contemporary dance music. His exhilarating LIVE shows have seen Wilkinson wow festivals from UK to the USA. Plus with the hype for new album ‘Hypnotic’ beginning to swell and a UK Tour selling out weeks in advance (including a sold out show at Camden’s esteemed venue ‘The Roundhouse’), we can’t wait for Wilkinson to kill it at SW4!

DUKE DUMONT

As one of the most exciting and prolific artists of the last decade, British-Born, American based DJ Duke Dumont has been responsible for some of the most popular house tracks in recent times. His energy and unique productions such as ‘I Got You’ and ‘Need You’ have made Duke stand out in a fiercely competitive scene and he continues to deliver year after year. Stand out appearances at the world famous Amnesia in Ibiza and a sell out American tour means this man is one of the most in demand DJs on the planet.

MISTAJAM

Tastemaker, DJ, broadcaster and producer are amongst the qualities MistaJam is known for. Jam has become THE voice of breaking brand new music and artists in the last decade and things are certainly continuing in that fashion. The London-man has become a household name and has been responsible for pushing all genres of music in this country from grime to house to hip hop via his outstanding BBC Radio 1 show. We cannot wait to welcome the SW4 regular back to the Common so he can do what he does best; rock the crowd!

JAX JONES

Jax Jones’ warp-speed surge to prominence came about in 2014 when he co-wrote and co-produced the multi-platinum award winning worldwide hit titled ’I Got You’ with Duke Dumont. Fast-forward three years and Jax has released his most successful track to date with ‘You Don’t Know Me’, having already sold 1.5 million copies and reaching platinum status in various countries! Easily one of 2017’s most popular artists, he is set to embark on a sold out UK tour including a show at one of the capital’s leading venues, XOYO! We can’t wait for him to make his main stage debut on Bank Holiday Saturday

LOW STEPPA VS SONNY FODERA

Australian Sonny Fodera’s distinguishable groovy house sound makes him stand out from the rest. A stellar year has seen him embark on a thirty-date tour spanning the UK, United States and Australia with the demand for the young producer not letting up.  The same can be said about Low Steppa, the prolific UK producer has gone from strength to strength in the past 18 months with notable performances at the world famous Amnesia and Ministry of Sound. Both of these exciting acts will be making their SW4 debut as they come together for a highly anticipated back-to-back performance!

TOM ZANETTI & KO.KANE

The heat around Tom Zanetti & KO. Kane has been hard to ignore and their special guest appearance at London’s Ministry of Sound in January confirmed the hype. Blessed with undeniable energy and the gift of the gab, this duo has terrorized clubs up and down the U.K in blistering fashion. Recently signing their Sleepin’ is Cheatin’ album to the illustrious Ministry of Sound label, there is only one way for this act, and that is to the top! Don’t miss out their SW4 debut as they get set to put on a show stopping performance!

NAATIONS (LIVE)

Tipped as one of the most exciting live acts to come out of dance music and recently coming off the back of supporting Galantis at Brixton Academy, Naations are starting to turn some heads. With their following ever-growing, we are looking forward to showcasing this exciting new act as they make their debut at South West Four!

It was clear from the get go that one of The Avalanche Stage’s aims was to ensure that there was a dedicated space for these new bands within the festival. Download has always been amazing at supporting new talent and I’ve always admired them for that – so it was a no brainer to get as involved as much as humanely possible!”

Setting the tone in our Year of Colour, we are excited to announce even more amazing artists who will be joining The xx, A Tribe Called Quest, Pet Shop Boys, Jamie T, Kurupt FM, Justice, Dizzee Rascal and many more as we redefine escapism for the festival generation. With a host of live music, super fat sound systems and DJs heading to our brand new site, join us as we increase the peace this 7th – 10th September at the Lulworth Estate, Dorset.

Rob da Bank says: “Bestival’s formula is pretty simple – we like you guys having fun, exploring new ideas and listening to amazing bands and DJs in a massive field or forest or both at the same time whilst dressed as a multi-coloured gherkin. If you like the sound of that you’re on board already, but if you need any more persuasion, we are proud to announce some mega new acts for Besti, repping the best in grime with Wiley, AJ Tracey and 67, through indie and rock with Blossoms and Twin Atlantic, all topped off with some good old fashioned rave with DJs from Heidi to Bjarki, Monki to the Ragga Twins and a massive garage takeover. Step up people, step the **** up!”

The Lulworth Estate will be rocking to even more amazing live music from the likes of grime godfather Wiley, indie powerhouse Blossoms, slick rhymer Loyle Carner, UK hip-hop hero Roots Manuva, Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic, folk troubadour Nick Mulvey, grime MC AJ Tracey, legendary hype man Fatman Scoop, Ninja Tune cut n paste maverick Romare and funk machine Sinkane. Plus, there will be appearances Tash Sultana, Alma, Cakes da Killa, 67, House Gospel Choir, London African Gospel Choir performing Graceland, Skinny Girl Diet, Smerz, Brushy One String, Hackney Colliery Band, The Greasy Slicks, Park Hotel, The Rhythm Method, Zoee, The Smiths Ltd, Disney Rascal, and the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band.

We’ll have plenty of new sound system action keeping the floors lit all weekend long, with celebratory behaviour from Andy C presenting 25 years of RAM featuring Andy C, Calyx & Teebee, Culture Shock, DC Breaks and MCs Tonn Piper, and Carasel & 2Shy. Bestival lifetime resident David Rodigan presents Ram Jam with Preditah, Conducta & MC Creed, Venum Sound and a very special guest still to be announced. And there will be footwork frenzy for the Teklife Showcase with sets from DJ Spinn, DJ Taye, DJ Paypal & Teklife Dancers.

The Garage Pool Party will be rinsing some classic beats with garage playas Heartless Crew, DJ Luck & MC Neat and Oxide & Neutrino all dropping enough two-step love to keep HMS Bestival rocking. Ensuring the subs are red hot right across the site we’ll have turntable tear ups from the Raindance crew featuring Rat Pack, Slipmatt, Billy Daniel Bunter and Uncle Dugs, Jungle Fever, with Brockie & MC Det, Jumping Jack Frost, Ragga Twins, Funky Flirt, Shockin B, Eastman Sound, and Ruddy Ranks and Nice Up! presents Daddy G, Kiko Bun, StarOne, Riddim Punks, Ghost Writerz, Shepdog, Serocee, Red Eye Hifi, Mr Benn, Cut La Vis, Jamie Rodigan, Origin One & AAA Badboy.

And as if that weren’t enough, there will be even more deck-based brilliance from Mad Professor, Heidi, Bjarki, Monki, Melé, Nightwave, Willow, Anna Wall, Jem Haynes, Reggae Roast & MC Natty Campbell, Tayo, Martha and DJ Dapper Dan.

When Skrillex officially endorses you, you know you’re doing something right! The past 18 months have been an absolute whirlwind for American producer Jauz who has gone from producing in his bedroom in 2014 to selling out arena tours all across the States. A quick-fire XOYO sell out at the tail end of 2016 demonstrated that the appetite for this whizz kid is clearly rife and his bass-heavy sound has caught the attention of many. Jauz will be making his SW4 debut this summer and with him being tipped for the top, this is an artist you can’t afford to miss!

Intercontinental- London O2 Arena – A great place to stay during your event

I, like many others, do not live in London – in fact it’s about a three and a half hour drive from where I live, as the 02 is quite difficult to get to and always has hordes of traffic. This makes it increasingly difficult to commute back and forth for anyone who isn't local. So how do you solve a problem like commuting? Hotels of course!

The best hotel to stay at is a question raised with many who go to the O2 for an event. Where is the nearest hotel? Which is the cheapest? Which is the best value for money? Which hotel is nearest to public transport? I have raised these questions myself. I have also stayed in various locations as well as commuting to and from home for the O2 Arena.

Last year, 2016, I stayed over the river and, whilst it seemed like a good idea, it was actually quite stressful.

Now it does depend on the individual. You have to ask yourself what do you want to go to the O2 for? Late night event? An event over a couple of days?

Now I know that there are many factors to consider here, such as affordability – or just not wanting to spend more on a conveniently located hotel, when you can stay slightly farther out for a lot less. I had these exact same thoughts. However, I chose to stay at The Intercontinental this year during a festival at the O2, mostly as I wanted to be in certain places at certain times to catch interviews, press conferences and signings – and to see as many of the shows as I could manage. There is no way I could have seen half of what I did, had I stayed elsewhere.

The Intercontinental really should have a sign up in flashing lights that reads

If You Were Staying Here, You Would Be In Bed By Now.’

That would have me sold.

So, budget aside, let's break down why The Intercontinental is a good proposition.

We’ve mentioned location. That’s a given as it is located right at the 02 and there is a walkway that leads you directly to entrance H of the main arena, which means you will be there or back to your hotel in less than five minutes. Why else is it good to be staying so close? You buy things. You know those moments when you have absolutely no intention of buying anything? Then you get soaked up in all the event goodness and atmosphere and end up buying loads of merchandise. When this happens, nothing is more irritating than having to lug them about all day. So ask yourself, do you really want to carry that around? I don't. What a pain, especially in the main arena where you have little leg room as it is. I found being able to leave things in my room and go back and get things was a godsend.

Then we have the option of being able to get changed. If you are at the O2 all day and plan on going to dinner or drinks after your event, you may want the option to go and change your outfit- or even have a shower. How about a nap? You may find you have some free time, maybe an hour or so and think, ‘You know what? I have a long night ahead of me. I can squeeze in some sleep’.

Also, FOOD!!!! How many of you are sick of the ridiculous queues at every food outlet? It consumes half your free time and by the time you get a table, order and food arrives, you are lucky to have even five minutes to eat it.

In the lobby of The Intercontinental, you will find Meridian Lounge. Set similar to that of a French Patisserie, this quaint lounge has glorious, mouth watering cakes and macaroons that you simply could not say no to. The macaroons in particular were delicious, delightful and light with flavours that melted in your mouth and a taste you never wanted to replace.

The prices aren't even excessive when you consider the quality of food and the service you will get, not to mention the absence of crowds or queues and, better yet, you can dine in any of the hotel’s dining areas without being a hotel guest.

Having breakfast included in your stay is a great idea, as it is a buffet. I was in my element. The selections were out of this world. You had everything you could think of and more. What a great way to fill yourself up if you know you won't have time for lunch. There was unlimited tea and coffee brought to your table. You could have any kind too – Latte, Cappuccino,anything. There are also unlimited fruit juices and smoothies. You can have various cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, pastries, cakes, fruit, boiled eggs and pancakes with maple syrup or compote. Then of course a Full English breakfast. Two types of bacon, two types of sausage, hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, scrambled egg, fried egg -everything. You can even ask for an omelette. I haven't even named half of what was available but I went for pancakes and mango yoghurt one day, Full English the next and so on. The staff at the breakfast buffet are the friendliest people. They are so welcoming and always ensure you have what you want. They always check if you need more tea or coffee too.

The views are also wonderful. Ask for a window seat and have your breakfast overlooking the river, beautiful. Also….you never quite know who you may bump into at breakfast. Let's just say that I may have seen a star or two, or three or maybe even four? Perhaps, more?

The Hotel also offers a Pre Show Menu in their restaurant. This includes two courses for £28 or three courses for £35.You also have the Clipper Bar which has every alcoholic drink you can think of, including a custom Gin of their very own, and a bar menu.

Eighteen Sky Bar Menu right at the top on the 18th floor has wonderful views, especially at night and is a great place to socialise. It also has a selection of light bite snacks. If you are a smoker, there is also a smoking area. The bar has floor to ceiling windows for amazing views – even the bathrooms do which, by the way, are immaculate with luxurious soap gel and moisturiser.

Peninsula Restaurant A La Carte/Tasting Menu – offers another option, slightly more expensive but probably the best quality food in the area.

As far as facilities and service are concerned, the hotel has a wide, immaculate and openly lit lobby which is immediately inviting. Staff are quick to welcome you and assist you where needed. We were offered help with our bags as soon as we arrived and every staff member even greeted our 14 month old son.

There are complementary drinks in the lobby – fresh water and juice, which was a wonderful touch, especially if you were waiting in line or simply waiting to meet a friend or colleague.

I felt as if I belonged there – just as important as the next guest and everyone was equal. It was certainly clear that every guest was incredibly important.

The entire hotel was spotless, not a speck of dust or overflowing waste basket in sight. No empty glasses or bottles laying around, no clutter. Every inch of the hotel had wide open spaces ensuring that no one had to squeeze past anyone or anything.

There is a Concierge, newspapers and tourist information in a stacked trio of old style suitcases and welcome seating areasfor guests to relax or have a conversation with family or friends.

If you have time or are staying with people not too interested in much of the daytime activities, well then why not visit The Swimming Pool? Open to all guests, the pool is relaxing, stress free and almost always empty apart from one or two people.

You also have The Spa – granted treatments cost, but if you want to, then the option is there.

Finally – the rooms. These are all beautifully furnished, withbeds which are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The pillows are lush and so very soft that when you leap into bed – and yes leap – they are that comfy, you sink into the large pillows and just drift away…..

Each room has a mini bar, at cost of course, and they all have:

Body Wash

Shampoo

Conditioner

Body Lotion

Shower Cap

Vanity Kit

Nail Kit in the bathrooms.

Bathrobes

Slippers

Hairdryers

Ironing Board and Iron in the room.

In addition to this, Studio Suites, 1 bedroom Suites, 2 Bedroom Suites and the Penthouse also have:

Dental Kit

Shaving Kit

Mouth Wash

Bath Salts and a comb.

The guests that I saw were all very happy and many came up to me saying such things as:

We stayed at the Holiday Inn last year but booked the Intercontinental to avoid the cold walk back over a main roadand because we wanted to be able to pop back in between day time activities and just before the main show

Yes, it costs more than hotels over the river, but with my daily schedule, I was able to get to every signing, every performance and every surprise meet and greet that was announced last minute” (C2C Festival)

I wish that I could take the breakfast room home with me. There is so much choice – I wish I could eat like this every day”

There is also secure parking which is much cheaper than the arena parking fee.
