Jessie Ware, Bloc Party and more announced for Rock Werchter

New on Thursday 4 July are Airbourne and Netsky (live) on the Main Stage, Jessie Ware in the Marquee and Bloc Party and Sigur Rós in The Barn. Volbeat and Green Day had already been announced for the Main Stage that day. On Friday 5 July Two Door Cinema Club, The Script and Phoenix will be joining the earlier announced Kings of Leon and Blur on the Main Stage.  C2C will build a party in the Marquee. And with Richard Hawley the tone is set immediately in The Barn. For Saturday 6 July so far only one name had been announced: Rammstein. Graveyard can now be added to the Main Stage, Disclosure to the Marquee and Django Django to The Barn. Depeche Mode and Editors will finish Rock Werchter 2013 in style on Sunday 7 July. But before we come to that, A Day To Remember, Band of Horses and Thirty Seconds to Mars will perform on the Main Stage. Passenger and Asaf Avidan have already been confirmed for the Marquee and Alt-J and Of Monsters and Men for The Barn. Rock Werchter 2013 will take place in Werchter (Belgium) from Thursday 4 July until Sunday 7 July. For four days the festival grounds will enable you to see and hear the best on offer on three stages. Well-established names, heroes from past and present and the majors get – as usual – their spot on the Main Stage. The Marquee focuses on electronic music in all its danceable forms on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday its line-up will be completed with up-and-coming talent, (more) intimate concerts and dance beats in the early hours.  In The Barn we welcome back familiar names, but it is also thé spot to discover tomorrow’s heroes. Formed in 1975 in Dublin The Boomtown Rats played their first UK shows with the Ramones and Talking Heads and fought the punk wars alongside the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Jam and The Stranglers. They were one of the biggest bands of the late 70s/80s with a string of top ten hits and platinum albums, earning them Brit Awards, Ivor Novellos and Grammy Awards along the way.  Making history as the first Irish band to have a UK no 1 hit with Rat Trap, they went on to score another top single in 32 Countries with I Don't Like Mondays and racked up 6 chart topping albums. This June, The Boomtown Rats head to the Isle of Wight Festival’s Main Stage for a not to be missed exclusive performance.

Bob Geldof says: “Playing again with The Rats and doing those great songs again will be exciting afresh. We were an amazing band and I just feel it's the right time to re-Rat, to go back to Boomtown for a visit.  Also, I’ve always fancied playing the Isle of Wight Festival ever since I hitched there in the good/bad days when I was a kid. I saw The Who, Doors (I think) Hendrix and Leonard Cohen, who incidentally blew Hendrix off the stage, and Kris Kristofferson, who was also amazing – God, so many cool bands. I also told several very boring frog anarchist types to go and fuck themselves and then stayed for a night in Hawkwind’s tent. That's pretty IOW. Maybe Hawkwind are playing again this year. Maybe I could use the tent again. It will be a privilege to be on that stage especially with a killer band like The Boomtown Rats.”

ULTRA is not only delivering the world’s greatest underground sounds each Sunday, but everyday of the festival. The Mixmag Stage will play host to performances by tech gurus CARLO LIO, DUBFIRE, ELIO RISO, JON RUNDELL, JOSH WINK, SHADED andYOUSEF on Friday of Weekend 1. The second Friday will boast additional techno sounds from AUDIOFLY, CARL CRAIG, KEVIN SAUNDERSON, NINA KRAVIZ, PAUL WOOLFORD, RADIO SLAVE and STACEY PULLEN. Bristol’s Love Saves The Day returns for 2013

Love Saves The Day are delighted to play host to a live performance from eclectic multi instrumentalist, Bonobo. Having gained worldwide recognition for his unique and untarnished approach to production, Bonobo is a revered name on the World-wide dance music circuit.  He rocked the Futureboogie stage last year with a fantastic DJ set – this time he brings with him a full live set-up to perform on the Main-Stage.  
 
Seth Troxler is defined by the consistently brilliant and beautifully unpredictable approach to his sets.  This Detroit house inspired dynamo and co-founder of Visionquest was rated as the world’s best DJ in Resident Advisor’s 2012 DJ poll. 
 
One of the dance music success stories of 2012 was peerless clan Rudimental who took the nation by storm with their number one single ‘Feel The Love’. Their highly anticipated debut album is due for release in 2013.   Rudimental will be performing live for what promises to be a storm of a show.
 
London based duo, AlunaGeorge are the name on everyone’s lips in 2013.  Having been together for barely a year, this talented duo’s infectious mixes are immersed in sweet harmonies and electronic charm.  Nominated for both the BBC Sounds of 2013 and the Brits Critics Choice award, their much-anticipated live performance at Love Saves The Day will be un-missable as will technicolor collectiveCrazy P who have been leaving their mark on the landscape of British dance music for the last 15 years.
 
Bristol resident Eats Everything has gained international recognition for his signature brand of bass heavy house, doused in techy cut ups and soulful harmonies whilst Joy Orbison has been a key figure on the circuit since his seminal track Hyph Mngo blew up in 2009 and the prolific producer has since released a series of deservingly hyped tracks including his infamous collaborations with Boddika.
 
Jackmaster is an integral part of the BBC’s new DJ roster and the Numbers founder continues to pave the way in UK bass movement.  Expect a sharp track set, featuring everything from Detroit house and 90’s dance classics to disco anthems and garage.  MeanwhileMonki, another of Radio One’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ promises to show us that the ladies are doing it for us – just as much as the new wave of males.
 
As with last year, Love Saves The Day promises to be the place to see acts before they blow up into the main stream.  Hoping to follow acts such as Disclosure and Jessie Ware, who graced the festival in 2012, are the much-hyped Bicep, Bondax, Dusky, Roses Gabor and The Other Tribe.  Watch this space.
 
Mr Scruff is the legendary DJ, cartoonist, producer and tea drinker.  His much revered DJ sets take in Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Dubstep, Latin, African, Ska, Disco, House, Funk, Breaks, Soundtracks & lots more and his set will be an undoubted festival high.
 
Shy FX also leads in his heralded Digital Soundboy crew to the festival for the first time.  Riding high after his recent re-edit of ‘Gold Dust’ received huge radio play, Shy is joined by both Breakage and Dismantle, as well as some yet unannounced guests.  
 
Also confirmed for Love Saves The Day are Âme, Deetron, Maxxi Soundsystem, Mickey Pearce, Outboxx, Paleman, Dubious and A.Quake, Feel The Real, Tom Rio and Dan Wild, Waifs and Strays, Futureboogie DJs, Jus Now and Christophe & Lukas.

Afrojack & Hardwell added to Ultra Europe Croatia

One of the biggest names in dance music, Afrojack will be bringing his unmistakable style of Dutch house music that’s won him millions of fans across the globe. This dance icon is guaranteed to bring a major party with a soundtrack of the highest caliber. When asked about playing Ultra Europe, he said “Playing Ultra for the first time many years ago was a big highlight in my career and has been every year since, so I'm very much looking forward to playing their first ever Ultra Europe event in Croatia this year. Bon Jovi announced as first headliner for Barclaycard British Summer Time

Sziget reveals new names for Arena and A38

The newly confirmed names are mainly related to the line-up of the A38 and Arena venues. Among the acts of the huge Arena tent we can find Boys Noize, who plays fresh and energetic electro with a touch of techno. He is not only an internationally well-known producer and boss of his own label but also considered to be amongst the top 10 DJs by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Nicky Romero is known for his bombastic tracks and outlandish remixes. Even though he has a short but busy carrier, he has performed at the world’s leading concert venues and most visited electronic festivals. Now he is preparing for Sziget.

German electronic hip-hop combo Deichkind also accepted the invitation of the organizers. Beloved for crazy and wild live shows including rubbish bag-outfits, trampolines, vodka, and pillow fights among other things, their Sziget gig will surely be an unforgettable one.

Austria’s finest Parov Stelar Band – founders of the electro swing genre and one of the most beloved party bands at big festivals – will return to Hungary after their gig at VOLT Festival in the beginning of July. And adding to the party atmosphere of Sziget, Spanish techno icon Oscar Mulero will perform as well. Still considered as the biggest DJ of Spain he always follows current trends with a sense of tradition and innovation.

With its sweeping craziness, the success grimcore band among the youngest electronic music fans, Hadouken, will play at the A38 stage debuting with their new album ‘Every Weekend’, set to be released this February. The huge A38 tent will also host Belgian rockers Triggerfinger, known for both their traditional rock music of dynamism and tense pace combined with an emotional side. Another A38 stage performer, The Bots, will provide a pure and fresh sound without any artificial substances but an amazing rough background energy coming from their true guitar rock.

Of course the line-up of the Main Stage is also developing. Performing in a late-afternoon slot, Sziget welcomes German giants Die Arzte again. Their music is on the edge of punk and rock with matching satirical lyrics, so surely a great basis to start up a night of fun. Another late afternoon German addition to the line-up of the big venue will be Seeed, the reggae-dancehall formation which is undoubtedly the most well-known representative of their genre in the region.

Azelia Banks

Last but not least, the organizing team is happy to announce the Sziget debut of Azealia Banks, a young talent from Harlem, performing a daytime gig at the Main Stage. Some of the most important facts about her: at the “BBC Sound of 2012” contest she got the third place and also received the Philip Hall Radar Award at the NME Awards, together with the New Style Icon prize at the Billboards Awards.
