The big news is that French cultural icon and esteemed techno pioneer Laurent Garnier lines-ups for the first time playing an extended set . He is the artist behind the seminal Man With The Red Face anthem, runs the F Comms label. He is a multi faceted eclectic artist whose impact on the music scene is far reaching but above all he is a DJ, a true DJ and has played every major club and festival in the world while making the planet dance for  the last 30 years. Laurent Garnier at Moovin Festival just feels very special!
There is once again a strong d&b show at Moovin with none other than Metalheadz founder and scene pioneer Goldie playing a special show with a full live orchestra that is sure to blow your mind. One of the best mic men in the game in Manchester’s DRS will also be on stage to drop his deeply profound bars with a full band in support. He has been on records with all the greats such as Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Lynx, LTJ Bukem, Icicle and LSB so do not miss. Moovin resident Micky Finn plus the iconic Kenny Ken plus a host of local and upcoming bass heavy acts also play.
Hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane is one of the most requested and talked about acts to perform on the Barn Stage so makes a welcome return to do it all again this year. Other hip hop royalty to play include Chali 2Una from the iconic US outfit Jurassic5, plus local heroes and new school innovators Children of Zeus. 
Funk fans will be glad to hear that 6 Music tastemaker Craig Charles is back again this year, while anything goes when Mr Scruff digs deep into his vast collection. Expect on point world music, jazz and broken beat from the one and only Gilles Peterson, while Massive Attack’s Daddy G also drops plenty of beat-based knowledge and the hugely influential New Yorker Todd Terry serves up one of his house masterclasses.
Then there is the unequalled David Holmes who is famed for his left of centre mix of trip hop, big beat, electronic and rock, plus breakout Manchester star Anthony Szmierek who is a firm 6 Music favourite and introspective poet /hip-hop talent is certainly a name to watch out for plus the turn of Mungo’s HiFi with Eva Lazarus and the one and only Jamaican dancehall DJ and singer Sister Nancy. 
Breaks are well represented by pioneers Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Jaguar Skills, Krafty Kuts and Freestylers, and old school house comes from Hacienda Graeme Park while DJ Paulette, who also played the famous club and recently got a lifetime achievement award from DJ Mag, also lines-ups for an irresistible day of music.

‘Amnesia Presents’ Unveils Dates and Headliners

Monday at Amnesia will continue to be the talk of the island with the return of Gorgon City, Sonny Fodera & Danny Howard for their second year at the legendary club.
 
Amnesia Presents is the ultimate way to kick off the week in Ibiza, running for 15 dates from Monday June 19th until September 25th. You can expect to hear all forms of house music from these three authorities of the genre.
 
New Amnesias Presents resident Greta Levska will be opening the show each week, followed by Radio 1 tastemaker Danny Howard, with Gorgon City & Sonny Fodera alternating in the early hours slots each week.
Sonny Fodera caused a huge stir at the club last year and has continued to reach new heights with his ever popular releases and high energy DJ sets. He has racked up 250M global streams in the past year alone, with a string of massive singles planned for this year. He comes off the back of 2 x sold out Brixton Academy shows, plus a headline set at WHP Depot and two nights at Blackstone Street Warehouse in Liverpool to kick off 2023 with a bang.
With 10 BRIT certified singles, including 1X Platinum and 2x Gold and over 1.5 billion collective streams in their repertoire, the core club values of Gorgon City still remain uncompromised. Selling out shows everywhere from Printworks to Red Rocks, with anthemic club records and remixes on their Realm imprint along the way. Their latest single ’Sidewinder’ ft. Flirta D amassed 100 plays on Radio 1 and they have plenty of new music scheduled for this year, with rumours of an album this summer, so expect to hear lots of future anthems on the terrace at Amnesia.

To date a couple of the tracks have been shared, but I’m excited to reveal that their full set will be coming as a premiere in April! It’s a killer set, really looking forward to sharing this for everyone to enjoy!

GOJIRA – Full Set Performance – Bloodstock 2016 What can I say… you gotta watch some Gojira, simply a band that creates masses of energy and gets the crowd moving. Their 2016 and 2018 performances at Bloodstock were amazing. 
THE EPIC
LAMB OF GOD – Full Set Performance – Bloodstock 2022 This Lamb Of God set just had to go online! I have watched it many times; it took a long time to get this approved – so thank you to the band and management for working with us to get this online, it’s a simply epic set.
THE SURPRISE
ORBIT CULTURE – Strangler – Bloodstock 2022 Because we’re busy working, I don’t get to watch all the bands live at the festival – but I do go through all the footage to choose which bands to put online. Orbit Culture were a band that simply blew me away, their sound and energy is just on another level –  they played the Sophie Lancaster stage, but I would love to see them on the main stage in the next few years.

Unfortunately, since BLOODSTOCK’s previous band announcement, ska-punkers RUSSKAJA have split up, and will therefore no longer be performing. Take heart, there are still lots of bands to be revealed in the coming weeks!

UPPERGROUND unleashes its first ARTBAT release of 2023 which is an emotive and powerful collaboration with Fred Lenix, where they combined to create the haunting and dark single ‘Dreamcatcher’.
ARTBAT stride into 2023 in determined fashion as they deliver their new single ‘Dreamcatcher’ which is a collaboration with the up and coming Brazilian born, Turkey based artist Fred Lenix. Lenix who has not only been garnering support from the industry’s leading artists, has also become a welcomed addition to the UPPERGROUND family. “After 12 years of creating 100% original material, we as The Subs felt excited to take our favourite music by fellow artists into our curious hands and add our own twist. FREAK is the first single of the eponymous EP where you will see us using and abusing some beloved classics to turn them into rave anthems.

“Covers?” You ask. Well, we call them remakes, because we go far into new realms. Pulling and pushing haunting beauty out of a night life rollercoaster.

It all started with FREAK. Ever since our earliest beginnings in the Ghent night life scene, we have been devouring this track. But it was 3 years ago during our all-night-long show at Kompass Klub that we dropped “our own” FREAK for the very first time. We felt we were on to something special, seeing the audience go all wild on it.

Since it was a remake we never released it. But we kept on coming back to it, adding, changing and morphing, until finally we found the ultimate expression of our own inner FREAK. Les Plages Électroniques today announces the next phase of its mouth watering 2023 lineup for August 4th to 6th, 2023 on the beach at the foot of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. Tale of Us, Fideles, Chloé Caillet, Aime Simone, Bianca Costa, Lodgerz, Mara, Mosimann, Tony Romera and Trinix join the already announced DJ Snake, Armin Van Buuren, Lomepal, Pedro Winter pres. Day 2 welcomes enduring scene kingpin and Hospital Records founder London Elektricity alongside the man who constantly revenants himself, Exit Records boss DBridge. Day 3 brings originators and chaos makers Ed Rush & Optical while Kemal & Rob Data (aka Konflict) reunite at LOCUS for their first show in over 20 years. The final day ends LOCUS with a world class bang as the one and only Goldie stops by for a masterclass. Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid snaps up BK for a huge new EP which features three new tunes including one with the boss himself. BK has taken his inimitable production style into clubland and immediately translated it into a DJ performance that has made him an overnight success. He runs his own Nukleuz Records and brings all new energy to techno.

Reinier Zonneveld & BK’s Suis Moi opens up with cantering drums and flashy synth work. The synths light it up in futuristic fashion while the dark vocal demands you to dance. BK’s Rampage then has hefty drums, skewed leads and the sort of raw and brain frying techno energy that cannot fail to blow up the floor. Indecision ups the pace and races along on slick and sleek drums with pent up trance-techno energy and a big vocal up top to really blow the roof off. Control the Music is last up and is another all consuming, peak time techno weapon.

This is a standout EP that will make you want to lose control and rage on the dance floor.

LooseFest Returns in 2023 with their Biggest Line up Yet

The North East’s largest and most ambitious music festival is back again on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August at Newcastle’s unique and expansive inner-city green space, the Town Moor.
Once again, 30,000 people are expected to attend each day of the already legendary LooseFest weekender who have put together their biggest line-up to date, with headline artists including Sean Paul, Chase & Status, Craig David, Patrick Topping, Ben Hemsley, Joel Corry, Andy C, Sub Focus, Dimension, Example, Sigala and Tinie Tempah as well as some of the biggest DJs around including Franky Wah, Alan Fitzpatrick, Hot Since 82, Kettama, Jax Jones, Sigala and many more, all lined up across five spectacular arenas.

In 2022, LooseFest became the largest festival in history to take over Newcastle’s Town Moor. The location is one of the largest inner-city greenspaces in Europe, spanning over 1,000 acres, making it larger than New York City’s Central Park (843 acres). The LooseFest team have entered into a long-term partnership with the Freemen of Newcastle and the City Council to secure the future expansion of the site for many years to come, firmly cementing the North East on the UK festival map and beyond.
Last year’s event was truly historic, transforming the area into an adult wonderland and for 2023, the LooseFest team are taking things another step further, with 5 incredible arenas, a carefully curated street food village, funfair, a range of bars and vendors and unique immersive activations including a Bentley and Ferrari experience in VIP and in the festival’s very own digital Metaverse. Although the festival does not currently offer on site camping, with the location being so close to the city centre, there is a huge range of accommodation options nearby, from hotels to Airbnb’s, as well as excellent transport links, making LooseFest one of the most easily accessible large-scale events in the country.
The music of course is the centrepiece of the festival, playing out across five bespoke stages each with their own bold look and stunning sound, covering everything from house, DnB and disco to techno, RnB and dance classics. The production is right at the cutting edge, with state of the art sound and lighting rigs, special effects and decor that is literally out of this world.
A vital mix of international talent as well as local and UK stars from across the musical spectrum all line-up again this year. Chief amongst them is global superstar Sean Paul, international drum & bass pin-ups Chase & Status and Andy C, R&B sensation Craig David with his TS5 show, chart topping party starter Example, UK grime star Tinie Tempah and Newcastle’s very own Patrick Topping, who will be hosting one of the arenas under his ever popular Trick imprint.
Also performing across the line-up are some of the biggest artists spanning the full breadth of electronic music, including DnB and bass selectors Sub Focus, Dimension, Bou and Kings of the Rollers, house, tech and techno maestros, Ben Hemsley, Joel Corry, Hot Since 82, Alan Fitzpatrick, Jax Jones, Schak and Syreeta as well as dance legends Judge Jules, Artful Dodger, Ultrabeat, Phats & Small, Flip & Fill and for the soulful house and disco lovers, Horse Meat Disco, A-Track and many more, with arenas hosted by Capital, Trick, Worried About Henry, What The Funk, Let’s Get Loose, Utopiar and Mixtape.
LooseFest has grown at an incredible rate since its debut in Herrington Park in 2021. Last year it set an all new standard for events in the North East and 2023 will be bigger and better than ever.
