Scoring 24 UK top 40 singles and 18 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning four decades, the Stranglers are the longest-surviving and most continuously successful band to have originated in the UK punk scene of the mid to late 1970s. Their legendary smash hits include Peaches, No More Heroes, Five Minutes, Duchess, Something Better Change, Always The Sun, Golden Brown, Strange Little Girl and Skin Deep amongst many, many others.
Festival director James Houston said: "This is a major coup for us. The Stranglers have stood the test of time brilliantly, with outstanding recent festival performances and a new album building on their extraordinary success over four decades. They are legends, we've always dreamed of booking them, and now they are coming. It will be a fabulous end to this year's festival at our spectacular new home."
The Stranglers occupy the big Sunday night spot occupied at Galtres by the Levellers, The Beat and Adam Ant in recent years. "Our event always ends on a big high," said James. "This year, as the sun sets over the North Yorkshire Moors, it will be a golden brown high!"
Known for their aura of danger and cool, the Stranglers begin their 2013 live campaign today in Scotland with an extensive 25 date UK tour, and concluding at Duncombe Park in August. The band, whose hits include 'Duchess', will play Galtres Festival's fittingly-named Duke Stage, overlooking the stately home.
In 1977 the Stranglers released their extraordinary debut album, Rattus Norvegicus and firmly established themselves as progressive punk outlaws.
The Stranglers first new album for six years, Giants was released in March 2012. The record was critically acclaimed and saw the band complete another hugely successful UK tour, quickly followed by 23 dates in Europe.
Last summer the band played V Festivals, Hop Farm and Isle of Wight in the UK. They also played Germany’s major festival, Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park and shows in Estonia, France, Belgium and Turkey.
Since 1996 Tennent’s have given Scotland’s top unsigned acts the chance to play the legendary T Break Stage at T in the Park. As from today, bands and solo acts from across the country can submit their demos for the chance to take to the stage at T in the Park’s 20th year celebrations.
They will be performing a unique Celtic Soundclash session with legendary progressive Celtic band Shooglenifty, in what should be an unforgettable climax to an incredible weekend of musical performances.
Other acts performing on the Magical Sounds stage over the weekend include live performances from Subgiant, A Guy Called Gerald (feat Special Guests) and Sicknote. Ed Tangent, Kickflip, Clumsy and more than 25 other live acts and DJs will also perform.
Bearded Theory's Main stage hosts an extensive number of major artists from the UK and around the world. Friday boasts a double headliner line-up, featuring headline performances from both New Model Army and Reverend and the Makers. Also on the bill are Midlands heroes Ned's Atomic Dustbin, The Hummingbirds and Karine Polwart. Derby's very own indie chart toppers The Beekeepers will also play a rare live set.
Saturday's billing is topped by the legendary Asian Dub Foundation. Joining them are Seth Lakeman, Macka B, The Quireboys, Ruts DC, Citizen Fish, AHAB and Zombie Met Girl.
Levellers will close the festival in style on the Sunday night. They are joined on the bill by Stiff Little Fingers, The Farm, Goldblade, Ezio, New Groove Formation, and The Lancashire Hotpots. Local success story, The Life & Times Of Brothers Hogg complete the bill.
Michael Eccleshall, spokesperson for Bearded Theory Festival says, "We are delighted to announce that Peatbog Faeries have been added to the bill for Bearded Theory 2013. We believe they are the final piece in the jigsaw, completing our best ever line up ever! Everyone at Bearded Theory HQ is looking forward to welcoming you all to Bearded Theory 6 in May"
The full A – Z list of artists confirmed today is as follows: Allo Darlin', Birthday Girl, Cayucas, Dawes, Dinosaur Jr, East India Youth, Ethan Johns, Indians, The Leisure Society, Cass McCombs, The Staves and Warpaint.

Noah and the Whale are used to playing huge venues but will play a much more intimate show in Liverpool at the Anglican Cathedral, the perfect setting for a much fuller sound that belies their more folksy beginnings. The band release their fourth album ‘Heart Of Nowhere’ in May and will showcase tracks from it at this very special show.
Traditional as ever, EXIT's intent to drip feed the line up is torturous but you know that it's always going to be an enormous one, upfront, varied and full of crazy times! First acts to be revealed on the Dance Arena are:
Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Pan-Pot, Matador live, Subb An b2b Adam Shelton, Apollonia & Deniz Kurtel
We are delighted to welcome back Resident Advisors' No.1 DJ Seth Troxler, since entering the scene Seth has ignited the world of house and techno with a barrage of critically acclaimed vocal jams. Under the label 'Visionquest' Seth, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtis have made some groundbreaking music, their most recent remix being a track from David Lynch's debut artist album. Together their 'Visionquest' project has spawned the most exciting new record label in dance music today.
Dubfire also makes a welcome return, after wowing the crowd's at the EXIT 10th Birthday with a legendary back to back (click2click as they called it) set with Richie Hawtin. This time around the Grammy-winning recording artist Dubfire will have the decks all to himself, ready to take the EXIT crowd on a journey with his renowned, seamless sets.
Pan-Pot have become a dominant presence in modern techno, an ascent mirrored in the rise of their home label 'mobilee records' to the top tier of electronic music. They are "the dark side of the force", they've melted minds, warped perceptions and reinvigorated the dancefloor with their heady, unorthodox sound. All we can say here in Dance Arena mordor is hell yeah, bring it on.
We love techno and we know you do too so we've also got Matador live twisting your tiny little minds. We won't tell you his real name because it's not as scary as Matador but we'll tell you that his journey into techno first began when listening to early DJ compilations, 'Dave Clarke's World Service', 'Richie Hawtin's Decks Efx 909' and various others. "Deep, Dark, Chuggy, Warped, Trippy, Driving… once it?s interesting, I'm on it" he states, so you can only imagine what he's going to be doing.
For deep house lovers we introduce Subb An b2b Adam Shelton, from sultry and atmospheric sounds to the acid-drenched and techy, the pairing of these two will be something worth salivating over.
Apollonia are the next big thing! They are a collaboration of three of Paris underground's hottest exports, Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom who are gearing up for a back2back2back showcase spectacular. They are Circo Loco's favourite French trio, playing at the Ibiza club DC10 all summer and now we too will get a taste of that sweet honey. DJing together with one-vinyl-each, back2back concept for the full duration of the show… Boom!! And who said vinyl was dead?!
Last but certainly not least we have the first lady to be announced, Deniz Kurtel a striking and uniquely gifted producer, her first releases were the 'Whisper' EP and her remix of No Regular Play's 'Owe Me' on Wolf + Lamb and recently she has released her 'Yeah' EP and remixed the single 'Fables & Fairytales' by N/A on Crosstown Rebels, and her debut album 'Music Watching Over Me' solidified her as 'one to watch' and we're looking forward to seeing what she's got up her sleeves.
Last year Tim Burgess from The Charlatans hosted the Tim Peaks Diner at Kendal Calling, a virtual diner that was one of the highlights of the festival and this year he’s bringing the rest of his band with him for a Saturday night headline slot. The Charlatans are one of the great British bands of the last 25 years and have melded rock, psychedelia, funk and dance rhythms over 11 albums since their inception in 1989. This is a band who have always refused to stand still and this northern festival exclusive is likely to feature classics such as The Only One I Know, Weirdo, Just When You’re Thinking Things Over, One To Another, Then and many more. Head Gardener and programmer Fred Fellowes says:
‘Every couple of years it seems that music bubbles up an endless host of new wonders in a relatively short space of time. In such a moment as this, we feel incredibly honoured to be hosting so many of these incredible new bands at the Garden Party. When added to the amazing new site works I really just can’t wait for this year’s SGP.’
Famed for their immersive live shows and pioneering use of multimedia Belgian brothers David and Stephen Dewaele aka. Soulwax are confirmed as headliners for this year’s Garden Party. In the decade since they released the ground-breaking compilation ‘As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2’ (under their 2ManyDJ’s moniker) they've established themselves as one of the world’s top electronic acts.
London (via Edinburgh) quartet Django Django enjoyed an incredible 2012 last year, culminating in a Barclaycard Mercury Prize nomination for their eponymous debut album as well as picking up the hallowed ‘Best New Act’ gong at the Q Awards in October.

Having sold out two UK tours already it’s hard to believe that Bastille are yet to release an album. Their debut long-player ‘Bad Blood’ drops on March 4thand is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year.
Hailing from Cavan in Ireland The Strypes are a group of 16-17yr-olds with a penchant for all things rhythm and blues. Having recently signed to Mercury Records and Elton John’s Management company they can count Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and Carl Barat amongst their rapidly growing legion of fans. The NME have named them as one of their most hotly tipped bands.
NEW FOR 2013
For 2013 the Garden’s beloved Artful Badgers have been given their very own new landscaped Amphitheatre to frolic in. This will be a dedicated space for feral theatre and games throughout the day and at night will be transformed into a space full of wild gatherings, ceremonies and ferocious celebrations. There will be new aerial walkways throughout these enchanted woodlands so that Gardeners can take a leisurely stroll amongst the towering trees – and spy on fellow Gardeners below.
This year’s theme, ‘superstition’ brings the Black Cat Bar, which will be offering up the very finest of cabaret & cocktails, into the seductive spotlight.
The Garden’s legendary Pagoda Stage will see further improvements for 2013. Along with a crème de la crème line-up of surprise guest DJs, this will include the new nearby Yacht Club Bar on the lakeside where Gardeners can sip on a sea breeze or take a boat out for a row. For those who have not yet witnessed the Pagoda’s infamous allure, expect to be completely hypnotised by its magic this summer.
A major mover and shaker location in the Garden is the Temple of Boom, curated by Eddy Temple Morris, which will be returning back to its original home, south of the lake. Look out for the full outstanding line-up announcement coming soon for this stage.
The Feast of Fools has been given a new nest within a whole dedicated realm of interactive theatre, crazy games and workshops. The Woodburner is coming back with a new friend in the form of a beautiful alfresco gypsy caravan stage. And … 2013 sees the return of the much-loved Village Hall to the Garden… the villagers will be playing host to our new gravel beach lagoon, providing you with a place for high diving, paddling and lino lounging. Be sure to bring your most outrageous bathing suits… Hip Hip…
We are also delighted to be welcoming back the Oddball Dancehall, after its swinging debut last summer, as well as the much loved Small World Solar Stage for their 7th year in the Garden.
The Bearded Kitten’s Collo-Silly-Um is back with a slight boost in size due to its ever-growing popularity and will be over-spilling with superstitious silliness this summer. This year it will be situated by newly landscaped rolling hills – perfect for suicide sports games.
Supernatural forces will take hold of the brilliant Dance Off Stage as we watch it shimmer, shake and expand into a beautiful, fully-power outdoor participatory venue for 2013. More Gardeners than ever before will be able to bust out their best moves and watch the greatest of party battles unfold.
Casting a spell over the whole Garden will be Secret Arts’ incredible Lake Stage. Dance into the witching hours with some of the best DJs from across the land and row out to the middle of the lake to watch the sunrise together.
Last but not least, the Garden’s favourite stages include the spellbinding Where the Wild Things Are, a mysterious, twisted area entangled in the finest new music; The Living Room – home to special one-off, intimate acoustic sets from some of the best singer/songwriters in the land; the Rumba Rum Bar, back by popular demand to bring you lashings of Ska, Latino and Reggae, all washed down with barrels of, yes, you guessed it, Rum. And the scandalous Crossroads, which showcases the very best rhythm and blues, soul and Americana on offer today, will once again be unleashing its voodoo magic on Gardeners this summer.
The campsites in the Garden will not be left untouched either, with plans for extra walkways and better access making the campsites even safer for everyone. Boutique Campers can expect a few new surprises too, ensuring that we offer Gardeners the best boutique camping experience this summer.
The reviving Sanctuary area will itself be reimagined and revived this year. As well as offering a whole host of therapies and massage, Gardeners will be able to immerse themselves into a beautiful world of chill out vibes, rhythms and sunset sessions.
And finally, every now and then, Secret Garden HQ receives a proposal for a new venue which excites us to the very core…. we simply couldn’t say no. Keep looking out for more information about an epic new dance venue, brought to you by Bristol’s finest, coming soon.
SECRET FORUM ANNOUNCES TASTER LINE-UP
Each year the Secret Garden Party’s intellectual platform, Secret Forum, plays host to some of the greatest minds and speakers in the country. This year we are very proud to announce just a few of the brilliant thinkers who will be enriching and stimulating Gardeners this summer…

Over the past six months we have strived to deliver to you what we believe is the biggest line up we have ever seen at the festival, starting with Saturday headliners, The Prodigy.
As one of the most, if not the most influential dance acts on the planet, we’re pleased to announce The Prodigy will be headlining the North Stage on Saturday 24th August for their only UK performance this year. Expect bomb squad production, appendix churning bass and rushing keyboard hooks as you experience one of the greatest live shows of your lifetime.

Headlining the South Stage on Saturday will be Avicii. After thousands watched the Swedish phenomenon smash it last year we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this time. Whilst Avicii enjoys the fresh heights of fame, one DJ who has been at the top of his game for the past two decades is Tiësto. A performer who has transcended musical genres, Tiësto continues to be one of the World’s top DJs and that’s why we’re happy to announce that he will be returning with the Clublife South Stage on Sunday. Proceeding with our world class line-up, we welcome back David Guetta who continues his global domination with the news that he has hit the 1 million sales record for his track ‘Titanium’ ft Sia, not to mention the numerous awards he has won over the past 12 months. As ever David will be bringing his full scale production and vast music catalogue to close Sunday’s North Stage.
Size Records has become the starting block for many a DJ/producer over the past few years and at its helm is Steve Angello. As one of the most successful electronic producers of his time, Steve’s sets at Creamfields are always epic and we assure you this year will be no different. If that wasn’t enough we've also got his partner in crime Sebastian Ingrosso hosting his very first ‘All Mixed Up’ arena on Sunday. If you haven’t experienced these guys’ sets before, you better get ready because they know how to party, hard.
One DJ collective who uphold a 100% success rate for giving their audience goosebumps are Above & Beyond, famed for their interactive, uplifting performances we can’t wait to have them back at the show. Another act we’re excited to see is Paul van Dyk. Paul is a Cream legend, having played for the festival nearly every year since its inception and also maintaining a successful residency at Cream Ibiza he consistently delivers and will be back to headline the Cream Arena on Sunday.
Further highlights this year include Eric Prydz aka Pryda whose February Essential Mix is still a constant on the Creamfields office speakers plus the ferocious Knife Party who will take to Saturday’s South Stage to treat us with their heady cocktail of sounds from dubstep and electro to drum and bass and moombahton. They will be joined by the DJ with the Midas touch, Nicky Romero, who recently celebrated his first UK number 1 with the track ‘I Could Be The One’ featuring Avicii. We also have Grammy-award winner Afrojack, DJ Mag Top 100 #6 Hardwell, wonderkid Porter Robinson and Refune prodigy Alesso who is back after that amazing set on last year’s South Stage. Also listen out for Groove Armada as they will be sure to debut some brand new tracks in the Nation Arena as they recently announced that they’re heading back into the studio. From legends to fresh faces we couldn’t believe our eyes when we first saw Madeon play, so much talent and still only 18! If you haven’t seen his ‘Pop Culture’ video on YouTube yet – look now – and don’t miss his North Stage debut.
Ensuring our stages are kept booming across both days we’ve put together a delectable line-up of stars including NERVO, Zane Lowe, Zedd, Tommy Trash, Feed Me, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Borgore, Norman Doray, Alvaro, Major Look Tom Staar, and Pegboard Nerds.
Shaking things up for this year we introduce a fresh new arena from Pete Tong. The All Gone Pete Tong arena embodies Pete’s ability to push and nurture new talent whilst still representing the artists who helped forge the scene. First on the invite list is Sasha, ready to drop tracks from his brand new Involv3r compilation release and making a welcome return to the festival after a year hiatus. Moving on from one of Mixmag’s first cover stars to their DJ of 2012, Solomun, will be bringing the sounds of his Diynamic label to the show for the first time. Completing this tasty first line-up are leading DJ/ producers Joris Voorn, David Squillace, Hernan Cattaneo, Hot Since 82 and Jaymo & Andy George. Bring it.
From ‘All Gone Pete Tong’ to ‘All Mixed Up’; the brand new arena presented by Sebastian Ingrosso, which features himself and protégé Alesso as well as very special guest Armand van Helden, Otto Knows, Mat Zo, Deniz Koyu and Carli. Whilst Steve Angello and the Size Matters posse will be raising the roof once again with acts Benny Benassi, AN21, Max Vangeli, Third Party, Tim Mason, Quilinez and Wayne & Woods.
Creamfields’ first lady Annie Mac has pulled it out of the bag once again with the line-up for the Annie Mac Presents Arena which includes a live performance from the BBC’s coveted Sound of 2013 #2 act, AlunaGeorge. The über talented duo will also be joined by breakthrough house producerJulio Bashmore whose infectious melodies are certain to provide the perfect summer festival vibe, and the extremely talented Eats Everything and his ‘Feather Fight’ cohort Justin Martin. In addition, we also welcome rising stars Toddla T Sound and Monki and along with the man behind the ‘Harlem Shake,' Baauer.
After last year we have made it our mission to get the acts you missed back to this year’s festival including the mighty Richie Hawtin and his unique ENTER. Arena concept. Now an award-winning night in Ibiza, ENTER. will provide a Balearic atmosphere on Sunday complimented by the beats of the mighty Loco Dice, Seth Troxler, Gaiser, Paco Osuna and Hobo.
As a much revered institution at Creamfields we’re always excited to see the line-up for the Pryda Friends Arena and this year Eric Prydz has surpassed even our expectations offering up sets from renowned techno producer Marco Carola, RA’s #10 of 2012 Maya Jane Coles plus a welcome return from Adam Beyer. We also have a debut appearance from Maceo Plex and music from Scuba, George Fitzgerald and Fehrplay.
When it comes to bass, beats and solid grooves there are two people who never let you down and that’s why this year we’ve asked Skream & Benga to curate a brand new arena for Saturday. Skream & Benga present will feature sets from the men themselves as well as a few of their friends including Ram Records founder Andy C, Redlight, Rustie, Jack Beats, Alvin Risk, Zinc, Bondax, Clean Bandit, Kidnap Kid, Woz plus many more.
Celebrating the landmark 10th edition of their renowned label showcase with ‘Anjunabeats Volume 10’, Above & Beyond present the Anjunabeats Arena in association with Mixmag for the first time at Creamfields offering plenty of euphoric, hands in the air moments with a little help from their ‘On A Good Day’ co-producer Gareth Emery, Cream legend Paul Oakenfold and Arty. They will also be bringing the cream of the Anjuna crop in the form of Norin & Rad and Andrew Bayer.
Topping up the trance on Sunday we have the iconic Cream Arena, our longest standing arena, filled with memories, many made by these guys –Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten. They will be celebrating this special anniversary with John O’Callaghan, Simon Patterson, Jordan Suckleyand Adam Sheridan.
Prepare your superhero costumes as Laidback Luke returns with the SuperYou&Me Arena! Steve Aoki will finally make his Creamfields debut along with his rider of cakes, inflatables and plenty of champagne for everyone! And the party doesn’t stop there! Eddie Halliwell will be making sure you’re fired up while Chuckie and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano will be making up the Dutch contingent supported by Tom Swoon and La Fuenta.
Whilst Skream & Benga ensure the bass is covered on Saturday, Mistajam will show us what his Speakerbox imprint has got on Sunday with a headline live performance from Sub Focus and a Creamfields debut for London boys Modestep. The raw talent in this arena doesn’t end there with sets to look forward to from Digital Soundboy’s Shy Fx plus Mistajam himself, Monsta, Killsonik, Friction, Majestic, Decibel, North Base andBitR8.
After last year’s success we’re bringing the Nation concept undercover with the Nation Arena headlined by Groove Armada, with return performances from A-Trak, Fake Blood and Jaguar Skills. Plus we’ve also got sets from emerging talent Jackmaster, Burns and Eli & Fur.
Providing beats on the harder side of dance is the Goodgreef Xtra-Hard Arena which features performances from the likes of Kutksi, Andy Whitby, Alex Kidd, the Organ Donors plus many more, and for those who prefer the finer side of life, Hed Kandi return as hosts of the Hospitality Arena.
It has become somewhat of a tradition to have the Mixmag as our official warm-up hosts for the festival and this year is no different as they bring you ‘That Mixmag Thing’ silent disco arena on Friday 23rd August with DJ Mag’s youngest covermount artist – at just 17! – Danny Avila and Mixmag’s ‘one to watch’ Deniz Koyu plus the Mixmag Allstars. If you like things a little deeper and darker then Riva Starr’s Snatch! silent disco arena is the place for you. This year Riva has brought with him some of the most exciting acts to watch out for this year including ‘Producers Producer’ Duke Dumont, Dirty Bird’s Shadow Child and more. We can’t wait for this! Finally Unit7 introduce the WRHSmusic arena armed with their favourite acts of the moment, including Russ Chimes who will be bringing his own unique brand of amped up, atmospheric and pop-savvy dance music to the silent disco as well as the brilliant Citizen.
