THEME: JOURNEY TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

Standon Calling’s theme is conveyed through the music, theatre, arts and fancy dress. And every year the costumes get more ornate. What will you come as? This year the theme is about adventure and the spirit of discovery: Journey to the Ends of the Earth.

The fields of Standon will be transformed into every unexplored corner of the world and your imagination. Invent, create and discover yourself in the greatest adventure Standon has ever undertaken!

Collaborating with Rolemop, Meet Alice, Circus Space performers and others to be announced, HAC create an interactive game for adults and children – with every part of the game an enjoyable performance for festival-goers… Nobody does interactive theatre like Standon!

There will be DJ outposts across the site to encourage late-night exploration. Dig It Soundsystem is a big, bad portable bike-pulled soundsystem that has become a favourite at Standon. The Groove Garden is a disco/chillout space centred around a customised garden shed, it creates a summer barbeque feel with a wide-open music policy, games, face-painting and lots more. The ever-popular Rockaoke returns to the Cowshed – indulge your fantasies of being a rock star. And, new this year, Beatbox Workshop comes from some of the UK’s most exciting emerging beatboxers – an opportunity to learn the basics, and discover your potential.

The UnderCovers Literary Lounge returns to Standon, this time at the Lordship Pub, with poets, authors and comedians to entertain you. And there will be more literary Twister! Brought to you by Clapton’s Ultra Large Format darkroom Analogue Photo Booth is an experiment in mobile portraiture where the sitters produce their own portraits. Pose resplendent in your costumes on the Saturday before the fancy dress competition, or capture that magical festival moment and develop your own prints.

Take to the Standon skies on your very own balloon adventure. Around the World in 80 seconds! Join Standon newcomers Salon present Fresh Perspectives of Science, Art & Philosophy – The Most Fun You Can Have Without Sex. It’s an experience like no other, where expert presenters – hand-picked from three disciplines: Psychology, Science and the Arts – share their skills and spill their secrets. Standon Calling’s homage to the Olympic Games will be just a little leftfield – with obstacle courses and fun on the lawn. And that’s not all – there’s still much more to be announced…

Iggy And The Stooges
Ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to announce that Iggy and The Stooges will perform at the OFF Festival! Pleas of their loyal fans have not gone unheard. They’re coming so that we can try to outscream Iggy during “Raw Power,” “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” and “Search and Destroy.” They’re coming to show the youngsters playing the OFF Festival stages how it’s done. Iggy and The Stooges – pioneers and punk-rock legends, synonymous with on-stage antics and the sheer vital force of rock and roll. Oh, how we want to be dogs right now – announcements like these truly deserve a howl of joy!

Iggy and the Stooges

Suicide
Ministry and Nine Inch Nails are good bands. Depeche Mode – same thing. But only at a Suicide concert will you see and hear the wellspring of inspiration for these bands. Punk aggression mixed with the inhuman coldness of the synths and the haunted, terrifying vocals of Alan Vega – Suicide’s visionary output is mandatory listening for any punk rock fan, and seeing them live might be a scary experience. In Vega’s own words: “Someone once said that Suicide was the most punk band in history, because even the punk hated our guts.” Are you sure you’re up for it?

Death In Vegas
Heirs and continuators of bold experiments of bands such as Neu! or Throbbing Gristle, only that their volatile mixture of techno, rock, and psychedelia has conquered the hearts of critics and connoisseurs of underground noise but also took dancefloors by storm. They went on hiatus in 2004 after releasing “Satan’s Circus” because Richard Fearless felt he needed to play some rock and roll in New York. Now he’s in London, heading Death in Vegas again. In 2011, the band released their new album, “Trans Love Energies.” Which basically means that during their show you’ll feel that energy, fall into a trance, and love it…

Black Face
Chuck Dukowski, one of the founding members of hardcore pioneers Black Flag, plus Eugene Robinson, the singer from Oxbow, the flagship of Californian noise avant-garde. Can we really create a better recommendation than that for the new band created by both these gentlemen? Well, they surely created one – their debut single, “I Want to Kill You.” The title speaks volumes about the band – they really sound like they’re trying to kill us.

Iceage
This crew from Copenhagen debuted only a year ago with they wickedly intense album “New Brigade” – a hardcore punch thrown from the dense, smoky abyss of noir rock. They’re often compared to Fucked Up, who invited Iceage to join them on tour. During their shows, the band is a real live wire. That was made clear last fall when they played a few clubs in Poland and will be on full display for all the fans to see during their performance at the OFF Festival.

Colin Stetson
Colin Stetson is a Canadian jazzman who plays a huge bass saxophone. That’s not enough for you. The list of artists he collaborated with includes Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, Feist, Bon Iver, Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, LCD Soundsystem, and The National. Still not enough?! He’s latest album, “New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges” was nominated for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and was included in Pitchfork’s “The Top 50 Albums of 2011” list. The magazine’s reviewer admitted that the album “sounds like nothing else I've heard.”

Pete TongPete Tong’s career is inextricably intertwined with the history of acid house and electronic music. 2011 has been one of his busiest years to date, withPete celebrating the 20th Anniversary of his BBC Radio 1 show and a greatly anticipated return to Pacha Ibiza for a weekly residency. In June this year he also released an excellent double mix album with Felix da Housecat entitled ‘All Gone Ibiza 11.’ A true legend of dance music we’re delighted to welcome Pete to The Great Hall for the Together Winter Music Festival.

Death in Vegas are one of the most exciting and unique bands to ever emerge from the UK dance scene. In 2011 Death in Vegas have returned with one of the most exhilarating albums of the year, as ‘Trans Love-Energies' fuses dub, psychedelic rock, techno, grunge and analogue electro to create a sound that is out of this world. Performing a full live set with Richard Fearless on vocal duties, Death in Vegas joins the outstanding lineup showcased inThe West Hall.

SebastiAn has followed such an impressive path that it’s hard to believe that he’s only now releasing his long-awaited debut album. Alongside Justice, SebastiAn is one of the creators of the Ed Banger sound and readily defies the rules to deliver a dirty and violent kind of techno that coughs and spits.Super prolific and constantly effervescent, this musician has managed, in the space of a few years, to redefine electronic music. We are delighted to welcome him to the Together Winter Festival this November for an exclusive live performance.

John Dahlback is further testament to the theory that there must be something in Sweden’s water supply when it comes to producing outstanding DJs and producers. Undoubtedly one of the worlds finest house prodigies, Dahlback landed his first record deal aged just 15 and in the ten years since has released tracks on many of the most respected labels. With a unique style that incorporates pure house through to electro, techno and progressive, John’s sound is carefully considered and meticulously polished. With such a promising career ahead we wait with anticipation for his set at Alexandra Palace.

In the years since his first album back in 1999, Sébastien Leger has released more than thirty tracks on many international labels, building his reputation as a key player within the new blood of talented house and techno producers.  Parallel to this, he launched his own label ‘Mistakes Music’ in 2007, whilst becoming more and more in demand for his remixing skills. One of France’s greatest exports, Leger will be a true delicacy at the Together Winter Music Festival.

Simply put, Chris Lake is one of the world’s great DJs and producers. In 2009 he gained two Billboard Dance chart airplay number 1’s and undertook countless tours.  2010 saw him tour the globe and become a resident with Cream, playing Amnesia for the Deadmau5 & Friends parties.  In 2011 he has continued his residency, rocking the famous Terrace all summer long.  His label Rising Music continues to go from strength to strength andTogether’s Winter Music festival will be another great moment in his distinguished career.

Alex Metric’s latest album ‘Open Your Eyes’ brings together the three stands of his musical outputs.  Standout tracks include ‘End of the World’ and his soaring epic house collaboration with Steve Angello‘Open Your Eyes’. With that said, Alex is probably best known for his outstanding remixes andsuperb DJ sets and with all these strings to his bow, we are in for a real treat.

Grum will also join The West Hall line-up, hot on the heels of his debut album ‘Heartbeats’ breaking into the top five in the US electronic music chart, winning the Best Electronic Artist of 2010 on US itunes and delivering excellent performances at Rockness, Parklife and Creamfields. Grum will feature alongside one of the UK’s hottest emerging producers, remixers and DJs from the past 12 months; Russ Chimes. Starsmith, having claimed critical acclaim from Mixmag and The Guardian for his past projects, has gone on to play at various festivals this summer included Exit, The Big Chill, Rockness, with Together the next festival on his hectic schedule.

The hugely talented Jeremy Olander has caused quite a storm in the dance music world throughout the course of this year. Championed by Eric Prydz as’the next big thing’, Jeremy will feature in The Great Hall. Aged just 24, Mark Fanciulli has notched up an impressive reputation which has seen him play clubs across the world including Ministry of Sound, Set Miami, Pacha San Paolo, Avalon Los Angeles and many more.  Responsible for co-running Saved Records with his brother Nic, Mark has also released on key labels such as Joris Voorn’s Rejected and Josh Wink’s Ovum. Get ready to witness his talent at Alexandra Palace this November.
