We are very pleased to announce more artist details for the Yamaha Music Stage (which is in the main arena at The O2, London). The details and names are below.
Following the success showcasing some of the best new talent around in 2016, THE YAMAHA MUSIC STAGE in the main arena at C2C will be back with six standout acoustic artists performing over the weekend in-between the main stage acts. Last year’s acts included Charles Esten from the “Nashville” TV series, Ashley Monroe, Maren Morris, Striking Matches and Frankie Ballard on the massively popular stage.
Cam was the first artist confirmed for 2017 and we can now announce who will be joining her across the weekend:
FRIDAY MARCH 10
CHASE BRYANT This 23-year old is a multi-talented Texan singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer who has a strong musical heritage. Chase’s grandfather played piano in Roy Orbison’s first two bands and later for Waylon Jennings. His uncles co-founded the popular group Ricochet, which had several hits in the ’90s. “From the time I was a kid, the only thing I wanted to do was play music,” he says. Because of the Orbison connection, someone suggested a meeting with Roy’s widow, the late Barbara Orbison, a prominent Nashville publisher, who signed Bryant on the spot. That road led Bryant to BBR Music Group imprint Red Bow Records, to whom he’s signed. In early 2017 he’s been touring with Brad Paisley and enjoying the success of his new EP, Chase Bryant.
SATURDAY MARCH 11
CASSADEE POPE From West Palm Beach, Florida and the first female winner of “The Voice” on American TV, Cassadee hit the ground running with her solo debut, the Frame By Frame EP, which featured “Wasting All Those Years” a track which sold a million downloads and was highlighted by her soaring vocals and an unwavering energy. She had her first number 1 single with “Think Of You”, a duet with Chris Young which led to her first Grammy nod nod in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance and was previously nominated Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards. Amplifying the impressive accolades, Cassadee and Chris continued to collaborate with extended dates on the “I’m Comin’ Home Tour” throughout 2016. Recently, Pope released her Summer EP which was produced by Corey Crowder who co-wrote “Think Of You”. Her busy touring schedule has included dates with Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts.
SETH ENNIS Arista Nashville singer/songwriter, Seth Ennis, is poised for a breakout in 2017, with early nods as a star on the rise following being named as one of SiriusXM’s “Future Five” and an artist to watch by CMT, Pandora, The Huffington Post, Rolling Stone Country and a CMT “Listen Up Artist.” The 24 year-old multi-instrumentalist, co-wrote, co-produced and played all parts on the recorded version of his debut single, “Woke Up In Nashville.” The Georgia native was recently announced to join Country Music superstars Florida Georgia Line on their 2017 Dig Your Roots Tour for dates spanning from February to April, but will take a break to make his UK debut at C2C in March 2017.
One more artist is TBC
SUNDAY MARCH 12
JANA KRAMER The multi-talented Jana Kramer (who has already been announced for a C2C After Show) is an actor who played Alex Dupre on the television series One Tree Hill, was a recent finalist on the American TV show Dancing with the Stars and is one of country music’s brightest new stars and a successful singer/songwriter. Named one of this year’s “Next Women of Country” by CMT, Kramer co-wrote more than half of the tracks on her second album, thirty one on Elektra Nashville, which features her smash hit, gold-certified single, “I Got The Boy.” Kramer’s singing career kicked off with the release of her self-titled debut album in 2012, which featured the platinum-selling “Why Ya Wanna”. She earned the ACM’s New Female Vocalist of the Year award and the distinction of being country radio’s most-played debut artist of the year.
LUCIE SILVAS Born in the UK but raised in part in New Zealand by her Kiwi dad and Scottish mother, Lucie started playing piano and songwriting at 10 but wasn’t exposed to the music industry until she started singing back-up on tour with the British singer Judie Tzuke. She was then signed to Mercury Records and released two pop records, selling over a million albums in Europe. The next chapter of her life saw her packing her bags and moving to Nashville where she was soon writing and performing with some US artists and musicians. She’s recently released a self-financed album called Letters To Ghosts featuring some of Nashville finest musicians and with the title track winning strong radio airplay.
DRAKE WHITE The critically acclaimed Drake White (who has already been announced for a C2C After Show) has been called,”One of the country’s most energizing performers”, by Rolling Stone Country. He’s a rapidly rising new star who released his acclaimed debut album, Spark on Dot Records, in the summer of 2016. The foot-stomping singer/songwriter and nature enthusiast co-wrote 10 of the tracks and the cover tells the visual story of who Drake White is as an artist, husband and native-Alabamian. The images imprinted into his silhouette paint a narrative of White’s life, including his wife Alex, his hometown church (where his grandfather served as preacher), his dog Writer and other mementos that inspired the record. White has been touring as opening act on Zac Brown Band’s Black Out The Sun tour in addition to his own headline dates.

With the 2016 edition of Kendal Calling another complete sell-out and having once again won Best Medium Festival at the UK Festival Awards, the first acts have been announced for the fan favourite festival. Headlining this year are Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, Brian Wilson and Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls.
With a career spanning three decades, multiple number one albums and having headlined the biggest festivals in the country, Stereophonics are undoubtedly one of the UK’s biggest and most enduring rock acts. They’ll be making their Kendal Calling debut this summer for one of their trademark, anthemic headline sets full of sing-along moments.
Richard Jones from Stereophonics comments:
“We’ve been fortunate to headline and play at some amazing festivals over the years and it’s an honour to play at Kendal Calling this summer a first for us in the Lake District. See you there!”
Formed in 1986, Manic Street Preachers have spent the last 30 years making some of the most vital and politically charged, yet no less anthemic, music to ever come out of the UK. The revolutionary spirit of the band has garnered them a legion of fans the world over and with songs like ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ and ‘A Design For Life’ in their arsenal it’s no wonder. Their headline set in the fields is not to be missed.
Commenting on their appearance, Manic Street Preachers say:
"We are genuinely thrilled to be headlining Kendal Calling, a festival we have always wanted to play in a truly inspiring setting.”
Topping the main stage for those heading to the festival on the Thursday are Scottish indie legends Franz Ferdinand. From breakthrough ‘Take Me Out’ through to their most recent release as FFS with fellow oddball heroes Sparks, the band have remained one of the most innovative guitar bands of a generation. They’ll be providing what is sure to be a hit laden set at Kendal Calling 2017.
The word legend is thrown around far too easily but when you’re the man responsible for all time classic songs like ‘God Only Knows’ and ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ its more than justified. Due to phenomenal public demand in the UK, Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson returns one last time to present ‘Pet Sounds’ in its entirety plus his greatest hits with Special Guests Al Jardin and Blondie Chaplin.
No stranger to the fields having played a rip roaring headlining set at the festival in 2014, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls will be returning to co-headline in 2017. Forever on the road all across the world and a prolific songwriter, his relatable, impassioned music has garnered him legions of fans in the UK and beyond. Kendal Calling is proud to have him back this year.
With multiple Brit Awards, arena tours and festival headline slots under his belt as well as having more UK number ones than any other rapper on the planet, Tinie Tempah is surely one of the country’s brightest talents. With undisputed bangers like ‘Frisky’ and ‘Pass Out’ in his arsenal, he is more than qualified to top the bill at this year’s Kendal Calling.
Joining the headliners are troubadour Jake Bugg, Scottish soul-bearers Frightened Rabbit, true original Seasick Steve, British indie heroes Editors, punk rockers Slaves, indie melody-weavers Circa Waves, anthemic alt-rockers Nothing But Thieves, grime don Lethal Bizzle, riot grrrl Kate Nash, rising stars The Hunna, man of the moment Loyle Carner and veteran Merseyside psych rockers The Coral.
Frightened Rabbit comment on their return:
“We are really pleased to be returning to Kendal Calling this year. Last time was easily the muddiest yet one of the best festivals we've had the privilege of playing”
Elsewhere Field Music, Fickle Friends, Honeyblood, Palace, Little Comets, Blaenavon, Shame, The Pale White, Eat Fast, Bad Sounds, Soshe, Reverend And The Makers, Freak, Man & The Echo, Bossy Love, White, The Shimmer Band, Fews, Ardyn, Dead! and Kendal favourites The Lancashire Hot Pots are set for the fields.
Once again the dance-orientated Glow Stage will be hosting a huge lineup for those wishing to party through the weekend. Chart topping UK rapper Example returns to the festival to headline the stage alongside house DJ Tom Zanetti, Butterz members Royal-T, DJ Q and Flava D together as TQD, bass duo My Nu Leng, Mike Skinner and DJ sets from London soul collective Jungle and British electronica masters Faithless. Gotsome, Holy Goof, Barely Legal, Mollie Collins, Star. One and Swindle also join the party with more names still to come.
The eclectic festival lineup will also be bolstered by Mercury Prize nominees The Comet Is Coming, Smash Hi-Fi, Broken Brass Ensemble, K.O.G. & The Zongo Brigade, Holly Holdener, Yumi & The Weather, Honeyfeet, Harleighblu, Sola Rosa, Lost Colours and Ezra Collective.
Additionally, mariachi Morrissey covers band Mexrissey, London African Gospel Choir performing Graceland and Beatlemania: Celebrating 50 Years Of Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band make this year’s lineup one of the most varied and exciting that the festival has ever hosted.
Kendal Calling founder Andy Smith comments:
“Drastic times call for drastic measures and to that end we’ve gone the whole nine yards! We're excited to be welcoming no less than 6 headliners to the fields this year, including Brian Wilson’s last appearance on these shores as he performs Pet Sounds in full. See you in the fields!”
Set in the incredible setting of the Lake District’s Lowther Deer Park, this innovative, fan-focused, independent festival is renowned for more than just music and visitors will also enjoy 4 days of arts installations, comedy, gourmet food, kid’s entertainment and a real ale festival all within the confines of what is surely the most beautiful festival site in the UK.
Having once again won ‘Best Medium Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards, Kendal Calling has firmly established itself as one of the undisputed highlights of the increasingly busy summer calendar. Tickets always sell out for the festival well in advance and with 60% sold for this year before a single act was announced, fans are urged to get their tickets now to avoid disappointment. See you in the fields!

As well as George Ezra, Bastille, Jack Savoretti and Rag’n’Bone Man.
John Giddings said: “We've always supported fresh, new and exciting talent at the at the Isle of Wight Festival. It’s what music festivals are all about. We had Blossoms in 2015 and they've just been nominated for a BRIT award! Looking forward to seeing what the Isle of Wight 2017’s talents have in store for us!”
The most exciting new guitar band to come out of the UK this decade, Catfish and the Bottlemen released their debut album ‘The Balcony’ in September 2014 and went on to win best newcomer at the BBC Awards later that year. The platinum selling album debuted in the Top Ten in the UK, yielded hit singles aplenty and saw the band win a BRIT Award for best British Breakthrough Act. Known for their incendiary live shows, Catfish and the Bottlemen have toured extensively on both sides of the Atlantic and in May 2016 released their eagerly anticipated second album ‘The Ride’. It went straight to the top of the charts on release, and has sold an astonishing 150,000 copies to date. After a summer of sold out open air shows and festival appearances across the world, the end of 2016 saw the band embark upon an 8 week tour of the US before finishing up with arena dates across the UK. 2017 sees Catfish and the Bottlemen play dates in Australia, Japan and South America, and embark upon a major stadium tour of the USA in the summer with Green Day.
Over the past twelve months, Zara Larsson has achieved what most artists can only dream of, becoming one of the biggest and most exciting breakthrough artists of the year. To date, she has graced the cover of NME, featured in the Time Magazine’s 30 most influential teenagers and become unmissable across our screens and airwaves. Factor in a V Festival performance, two 2016 MTV EMAs wins, two BRIT Award nominations and the small matter of opening for Beyoncé on both dates of her Formation World Tour at Wembley Stadium, it’s been non-stop for the Swedish sensation. With a string of global hits already under her belt, Zara’s previous single, ‘I Would Like’ continues to sit firmly in the UK Top Ten, six weeks after being released and peaking at Number 2 in the UK Officials Singles Chart, while her debut single, 'Lush Life’ has gained over half a billion streams on Spotify and gone double Platinum here in the UK.
Zara Larsson said: “So Excited to play the Isle of Wight Festival! UK festivals are always so much fun! You guys always bring 100%.”
Genre-defying Clean Bandit first emerged on the scene in 2012 with their matchless blend of electronica, pop, r’n’b and string arrangements, and have gone onto become global Number One stars. Landing their first UK Number One single in 2014 with ‘Rather Be’ feat. Jess Glynne (the track stayed as the UK Number One for four consecutive weeks), it won a GRAMMY Award for ‘Best Dance Recording’ in 2015, not to mention two Ivor Novello nods for the band’s multi-instrumentalist/producer, Jack Patterson, in the same year for his work on the track. Currently in the studio working on their new album – the follow-up to 2014’s Top Three debut ‘New Eyes’ – Clean Bandit released their mighty single ‘Rockabye’ at the end of 2016; staying at Number One for nine consecutive weeks in the UK and featuring vocals from woman-of-the-moment, Anne-Marie, and the mighty Sean Paul, it was also 2016’s official Christmas Number One in the UK.
The Vamps following continues to grow rapidly. Since they burst onto the scene in 2013, they have had five UK Top 10 singles, two smash hit albums and their YouTube and VEVO channels have topped ½ billion views and 2.7 million subscribers. They often trend around the world on Twitter, and have over 3.3 million followers. The band are also regulars on Facebook where they have 6.3 million Facebook fans. The band have sold out London’s 20,000 capacity O2 four times, with a fifth on sale now, and have hit the road for multiple world tours visiting over 25 countries. The Vamps have won Best Breakthrough, Best British Single and Best British Group (twice!) at the Radio 1 Teen Awards, as well as being nominated for Best Love Song and Best Breakout Group at the Teen Choice Awards. Their current single, All Night, is rising up the charts around the globe and has picked up over 100 million streams worldwide, making it currently the 21st most streamed song on Spotify in the world.
The Vamps Brad Simpson said: “We all can’t wait to play the Isle of Wight Festival! We love playing festivals!”
The Strypes are a four piece rock'n'roll band from Ireland. They began playing together at primary school and signed a record deal in 2012. Their debut album Snapshot was produced by Chris Thomas (Sex Pistols/Beatles) and made the top five in the UK album charts. Their follow up Little Victories cracked the UK top 20 and reached number One in their home country. Their TV appearances include Later with Jools Holland, Late Night with Letterman and Conan O'Brien.
The Strypes’ Ross Farrelly said: “We love the Isle of Wight Festival. It’s one of our favourite festivals, so being invited back to play is incredible news! We can’t wait. Roll on June!”
Reading four-piece, The Amazons, took the new music scene by storm when they released ‘Stay With Me’, produced by Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood and The Maccabees). They have already been championed by BBC Music Introducing, featured on the BBC Sound of 2017 shortlist and the MTV Brand New for 2017 shortlist.
The Amazon’s Matt Thompson said: “We’re very excited to be escaping the mainland to play Isle of Wight Festival for the second time. We had a blast last year at the Jack Rocks tent and can’t wait to join a line-up of some of our favourite artists"
Australia’s Germein Sisters have been turning heads across the globe with their indie pop tunes. Sibling trio Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (electric cello, bass) and Clara Germein (drums) have got music critics raving worldwide with their flawless harmonies, catchy melodies, and euphoric live show. Described as “my soundtrack to summer” by Music in Time UK, the trio’s organically crafted pop sensibility, intriguing element of electronicism, topped off with that distinctive sibling magic has been making waves ever since they started jamming together on their family’s bushland property in South Australia. Their debut single ‘Da Da Doo’ was nominated for ‘Best Song’ at the South Australian Music Awards, where the girls also scored nominations for ‘Best Pop Artist’ and ‘Best Band’. Germein Sisters have performed across Australia, New Zealand, China, and Europe; and not forgetting supporting Ronan Keating on his tour of Germany, and representing Australia at the Hue Festival in Vietnam, and the Women of the World Festival in Germany.
British Four piece ‘Judas’ have quickly managed to gain a reputation as one of the best new emerging rock and roll bands in the UK, with a fearsome live reputation to boot. Led by charismatic frontman and chief song writer John Clancy, having previously gigged with indie heavyweights such as The View, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The Mystery Jets, he has certainly picked up their knack for writing bona fide indie anthems.
The Novatones are fast becoming a festival favourite. Since first playing at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2014, they have risen up the stages year on year with a huge performance in the Big Top last year. They seem to be the support band of choice in 2017, and are now getting played on 6 Music.
One of London’s most exciting new bands, The Second Sons have risen to international acclaim in 2016 after releasing their debut single “Best Of Me” featuring the late, legendary Bobby Keys and have recently followed up with the bands electrifying collaboration with iconic record producer Chris Kimsey on their most recent single “Can’t You See”. Always able to get people off their feet and dancing, the Second Sons are one of the most entertaining live acts in music to date. "The Second Sons are the best thing to happen to rock n roll since Booker T fell in with the MG’s. It drives like a freight train and punches like a very young Mike Tyson. This band gives me hope for the republic of rock n roll." Rich Cohen – Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone
The Second Sons’ Nick Harding said:“We are thrilled to be back this year, the Isle of Wight Festival is one of the world’s finest and we are happy to be playing it again for a second time.”
