Lineup
Pop-Rock Main Stage
Already announced names for the Pop-Rock Main Stage include Pulp, Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal, Interpol, Rise Against, Good Charlotte, Smash Mouth, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Maccabees and so much more. The newest list of confirmations is also a strong selection. It will surely please fans of quality guitar music, as they get to see Great Britain’s trendiest indie band White Lies. Other new additions to the line-up include La Roux – nominated for nearly all prestigious awards – and Manic Street Preachers presenting their 2010 album – Postcards From A Young Man – and hopefully giving us a taste of their new LP, scheduled for this November. Few people would think that members of a hardcore punk band also have modest and sensitive sides, but that’s exactly the case with Mariachi El Bronx, formed from the members of the uncompromising Californian punk band The Bronx. New-Zealand’s exciting musical export item, Batucada Sound Machine will be here as well, while fans can also meet up with one of the most important aspirants of the future soul-generation, Ben l’Onlce Soul.
World Music Main Stage
Some of the names already announced for the World Music Main Stage are AfroCubism, Gotan Project, Goran Bregovic Wedding And Funeral Band, Ojos de Brujo and Rotfront. Besides them, Oi Va Voi is also happy to return to Sziget, while psychedelic rock-country-blues band Cowboy Junkies will play in Hungary for the first time. The line-up will include Sly & Robbie feat. Jr. Reid and Slovenian Magnifico and Shtetl Superstars – only gaining popularity this year, but strong contenders to become one of the big shots of the decade. LaBrassBanda appeared three years ago in Munich and the leather-pants combo immediately made the Bavarian beer festival atmosphere their trademark. Ska Cubano is already considered to be a frequent player of prestigious world music festivals, so it is almost needless to say that they must visit Sziget, too. And we shouldn’t forget about world class Hungarian acts: Csík Zenekar, Lajkó Félix and Muzsikás will once again present their unique shows in front of a passionate world music fanbase.
Rock-Metal Main Stage
A great new open-air venue is ready to welcome fans of harder genres. Rock-Metal Main Stage will be, among many others, a home to legends like Judas Priest and Motörhead, but also Within Temptation, Deftones, Lostprophets and Sonata Arctica will make those heads bang in the moshpit. More to come soon.
A38-Wan2 Stage
It has already been announced that Christal Castle, Peter Bjorn and John, Marina and the Diamonds and Hurts will play at A38-Wan2 Stage. Among the new names a strong British presence is evident: Bomb The Bass, Kode9, Digital Mystikz and Gaslamp Killer will give their best for Sziget fans. Suicidal Tendencies and Xiu Xiu will be representatives of the United States and there are also three Dutch artists in the line-up: De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, DeWolff and Kees van Hondt. Besides them A38-Wan2 Stage will be happy to host Mitch & Mitch (PL), Selah Sue (B), Terry Poison (ISR) and Buraka Som Systema Live (P), too.
Party Arena
Some of the names performing at Party Arena have already been announced: The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 and Kid Cudi will definitely come to do a set. New additions include Trentemoller and Zombie Nation and finally there are also news on the late evening acts. 2manydjs led by the Dawaele brothers is planning to give all fans a spectacular and crazy night at Party Arena. The coolest trance-collective of Great Britain, Above & Beyond will not only focus on their classic tracks, but will also make you dance like crazy with their new album Group Therapy, to be released in June. The most popular and versatile techno-musician of Spain, Cristian Varela will be here and the oustanding dj, producer and remixer Dubfire will also arrive to this year’s Sziget in the company of Carlo Lio. Another guest of the Party Arena will be Richie Hawtin, one of the most outstanding features of the minimal techno scene, living in Berlin for a long time. And Technasia will play again for party faces open for a special and exotic techno experience.
Europe Stage
Europe Stage is fresh and open-air, a venue where bands from several European countries present their skills. These bands are all extremely popular in their home countries, but still waiting for an international breakthrough. Now they have the chance to prove in front of an enthusiastic Sziget crowd. The already confirmed Europe Stage line-up includes Go Back To The Zoo from Holland, Triggerfinger and Wallace Vanborn from Belgium, Verdena from Italy, Söhne Mannheims from Germany, Ismo Alanko & Teho from Finland, For a Minor Reflection from Iceland, Elvis Jackson from Slovenia, Puding Pani Elvisovej from Slovakia, Skyline from the Czech Republic, Gravity Co. from Bulgaria, Francis International Airport from Austria, and The Mono Jacks from Romania.

SUPERNORMAL’s atmosphere is reminiscent of an early Glastonbury combined with the artistic ambition of a non-elitist Glyndebourne and a Utopian vision of experiment and inclusion.
SUPERNORMAL’s manifesto harks back to the days of the artist-led do-it-yourself festivals of the 60’s & 70’s – a far cry from the corporate machines of many of today’s affairs.
SUPERNORMAL is a 3-day determinedly non-commercial arts and music festival investigating amongst other things, the power of arts practice, cult music and experimentation to reshape the festival format through collective action. It takes place in the grounds of Braziers Park with its 17th Century mansion eccentrically restored in the Strawberry Gothic style (which is itself home to Britain’s oldest secular community and was the childhood home of both Marianne Faithful and Ian Fleming) all in 50 acres of verdant Chiltern landscape. SUPERNORMAL joins the dots between art, music, performance and film – staging both impromptu spectacle and more timetabled events.
Guest music curators Rocket Recordings present a rare live appearance from psychedelic noise band Skullflower, with Gnod & Teeth of the Sea sharing the stage with artists that inspired them. The legendary Cindytalk bring their hard-edge Romanticism and ethereal vocals to an audience who knew there was beauty way before Antony Hegarty arrived on the scene. The audience is also invited to bring along their best and worst cassette tapes to the Mix Tape Amnesty Lounge and to contribute to the Supernormal Zine. A film the same length as an album is screened. A 1957 caravan – Mobile Cottage Industry, is re-appropriated as a black and white thatched cottage. Music and film experiment An Island features. Let Me Feel Your Finger First stage a performative lecture frighteningly titled Post-Colonial Cannibal.
Further guest co-curator Heidi Heelz brings an esoteric mix of scratchy punk from The Cravats, disturbing electro from mAn-fLu and super-8 comedy-classic The Weakerman not to mention Sing-along-a-Wickerman. Hákarl (communion) encourages improvisation and collaboration whilst staging an epic 36 hour continuous musical escapade to bridge the gap between artist and audience. An artwork becomes a venue for performance and live music is a visual intervention. Beer is served by artist-builders from a cement mixer whilst long drinks are mixed in a sandblaster. Outside of the festival parameters, Kosmiche collaborators GNOD run a pirate stage completely at odds with the programme. More acts will be confirmed and more surprises revealed.
Emerging from the annual Braziers International Artists Workshop started in 1995, SUPERNORMAL is a radical interpretation of that blueprint, intended to give the arts a far wider audience and artists a far greater challenge than the usual artists’ Residency. It offers an opportunity for dialogue, exchange and experiment in a way that benefits all in an environment where risks can be taken and leaps of imagination can occur. Independent artist-run spaces like Black Dogs, Liverpool Space-Station Sixty-Five, Pitt Studio, Various Artist, Broadwalk Arts and Studio1.1 London amongst others will be presenting a range of artists to challenge and change received ideas of what the proper environment for the visual arts actually is.
SUPERNORMAL is a non-funded not-for-profit event organised and curated by a small network of artists and musicians who share the aims and ethos of this truly alternative festival which can only happen due to their tireless work and the help of like-minded people pitching in and just getting involved. The organisers work for SUPERNORMAL entirely without pay.
SUPERNORMAL continues the tradition of anti-establishment counter-cultural activity dating back to the Second World War, via the site of Braziers Park home to Braziers Park School of Integrative Social Research; a community driven by collective action, striving for social co-existence. A film will be shown of archive footage from the sixties of the likes of R.D.Laing, Alexander Trocchi and John Latham all contributing to the revolutionary Braziers spirit.
SUPERNORMAL is an intimate event for an exclusive audience of five hundred, allowing the exploration of the site and out-buildings where a whole range of events will take place. Braziers Park is an eco-site with fresh running water, eco toilets and hot outdoor showers with a wooded camping area.
RockNess Organiser Jim King commented: “We’re really pleased to announce that Bombay Bicycle Club will be performing at RockNess. They fit perfectly into the Saturday Goldenvoice arena and are really great live band to catch at the festival.”
With their third album slated for release in June, Bombay Bicycle Club will be making the journey to Dores to wow the RockNess crowd on Saturday 11th June with a mix of their eagerly anticipated brand new material and classic tracks from their first two critically acclaimed albums. Built around Jack Steadman’s uniquely compelling vocals, Bombay Bicycle Club’s live momentum has made them one of the UKs brightest up and coming bands.
Folk-rock trio Sparrow and the Workshop will also be on hand on the Sunday at RockNess to showcase their ethereal and electric musical brew. Comprising an American, a Welshman and a Scotsman, the threesome distils pop, rock and traditional folk that spans the globe into a truly haunting and beautiful live spectacle.
San Franciscan alt-electro three-piece Afghan Raiders are confirmed to join the party, also playing on the Sunday. Colliding dance vibes with classic punk rock riffs and pop melodies Afghan Raiders can effortlessly get a crowd jumping with their high octane live show.
Manchester based ambient techno purveyor Callum Wright AKA D/R/U/G/S is set to bring his lush DIY electronica to the party. One of the most buzzed about bands of the last six months, D/R/U/G/S’ MPC fuelled excursions into widescreen dance music of all flavours has made him a top tip for those in the know.
Finally, Ireland’s hotly tipped Funeral Suits will be demonstrating just why they’ve been enjoying the support of some of alternative music’s biggest players on Saturday. Expansive and heavy without being overpowering the trio’s debut album has been produced by the legendary Stephen Street and their debut single is already enjoying support from Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens, marking them out as ones not to miss.

One of Australia’s biggest comedians, STEVE HUGHES is a perfect fit for BLOODSTOCK, having been in several metal bands himself before embarking on his comedy career. Starting at an open mic night in the mid 90s, STEVE has gone on to earn rave reviews for his performances both live and on TV, with credits including numerous appearances at Edinburgh festival, MTV, Stand Up For The Week, as well as being hand picked by Michael McIntyre on his Comedy Roadshow. He comments:
“As a rule, as a comedian, I usually say no to doing comedy shows at music festivals. I’ve never really enjoyed it, and as my great friend and great Canadian comic Glenn Wool once said, ‘ You never want to do comedy, when in your peripheral vision you can see Iggy pop’. But as its Bloodstock and with a line up like it is, what is a man to do but say yes and turn up with microphone in hand and jokes ready to rock. See you all there. Hail the gods of metal.”
According to Metal Hammer Magazine – who are in a perfect place to judge, being both experts on Metal and having let him host their 2009 Golden Gods Awards – Canadian JASON ROUSE is “the most Metal comedian on the planet”. Brutal, dark, twisted and hell-bent on turning the mainstream comedy world upside down, over the last decade this comedy outsider has sharpened his teeth in clubs and festivals all over the world and become the most celebrated ‘odd-ball’ in comedy today. A clever combination of devilishly crafted jokes and ‘freak-show-like’ theatrics, JASON’s stand up will pit your sense of morals against your sense of humour as this jester from hell forces you to laugh at stuff you should not find funny.
STEPHEN HILL is a London based stand up comedian and writer who started his career after becoming a finalist in Jimmy Carr’s Comedy Idol on his first ever stand-up gig. Since then Stephen has shared the stage with the likes of Andrew O’Neill (who performed at last year’s BOA), Russell Howard, Lenny Henry, Reginald D. Hunter and Al Murray to name a few, as well as contributing to Channel 4 Radio’s “4 Weekly News Show” alongside Frankie Boyle, Mark Dolan, Greg Davies, Katy Brand and Tony Law. If reviews for his sell out Edinburgh comedy shows “Adolf Hitler and Mother Teresa walk into a bar…”’, “99 Problems But Your Mum Aint One” and “Creme Eggs vs Nazi Nana” are anything to go by, his explosive no holds barred performance and stage presence is bound to go down a storm at CATTON HALL this august.
Joining them, KEITH PLATT brings his no-nonsense stand up to BLOODSTOCK. With his flat-cap, specs and moustache, KEITH may not look like your typical BLOODSTOCK attendee, but having been the frontman of Harrogate Thrashers ACID REIGN in the 80s, more than knows his metal. A somewhat crazy Yorkshire man, KEITH is irritated at most things, leaving nothing safe as he rants and raves and lets off steam. Like a Yorkshire ‘Al Murray’ he’s got bags of energy and within his act seamlessly ad libbs, deals with heckles and comes up with topical stuff, while never breaking character, and will tickle more than a few ribs at BLOODSTOCK.
With headline sets from IMMORTAL, MOTORHEAD and WASP, plus an undercard boasting exclusive appearances from the likes of DEVIN TOWNSEND, MORBID ANGEL, AT THE GATES, KREATOR, EXODUS and many more,BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2011 is an unmissable event for any metalhead. Add to this a fantastic comedy line up, fairground rides, dodgems and the infamous BLOODSTOCK karaoke, and a ticket price of just £105 for FOUR days of fierce festival fun – including camping – there really is no better value ticket for fans of heavy music this summer.
BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2011 takes place at Catton Hall August 12th – 14th.

Making their T in the Park debut on the 30th anniversary of the band are Scottish rock giants Big Country. The band has enjoyed phenomenal success with number one albums, Grammy nominations, sold out European tours and millions of record sales worldwide. They’ve shared stages with Led
Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and are one of the truly great live outfits to have survived the roller coaster ride of the Eighties. Their star continued to shine until 2001 when frontman Stuart Adamson sadly passed away. It took until 2010 before the band felt ready to perform again as Big Country with Jamie Watson and singer Mike Peters leading the band back to glory to perform at T in the Park2011.
The band said: “To be able to play at T in the park is a perfect opportunity for us to really celebrate our 30th anniversary in Scotland. Because the band was basically born in Fife, T is a fitting place to return to for this occasion. Stuart would have appreciated this, and we’re all looking forward to it.”
Jon Fratelli will appear solo on stage in Balado for the first time with brand new songs from his debut album “Psycho Jukebox”. Chock full of the kind of solid gold easy action that makes you want to smile broadly, chant loudly, dance wildly, sing sweetly, grapple sweatily, drum manically, scream breathlessly and shout raucously, it’s perfect T in the Park material.
Jon said: “T in the Park was the first major festival I ever played and the first time I’d played in front of a circus tent full of people, that first time is still etched in my memory. I’m really happy to be going back to T, it’s always a highlight”.
Roddy Woomble, frontman of legendary Scottish alt-rock act Idlewild will woo the T in the Park crowd with dreamy lyrics and fully charged folk foot stompers from his latest solo album “The Impossible Song & Other Songs”. He paints a picture of his beloved western isles with layers of tuneful instruments that complement a voice full of soul. Known to treat fans to a travelling story or two between songs and with the chance of some Idlewild classics thrown into the mix, Woomble’s performance is set to shine.
Glaswegian boys Twin Atlantic are poised for greatness – the group of fans who once held them as their little secret is growing rapidly and this number is set to multiply when they appear at T in the Park this year. Word of mouth buzz about their intense live shows has built a rock solid base and the band has scored a sellout gig in Glasgow’s Barrowland this Friday 6th May. Ambitious debut mini-album, “Vivarium”, is packed with enormous sweeping riffs, moods that flit from light to shade, and impassioned vocals dripping with gorgeous Scottish vowels.
Emma Gillespie AKA Emma’s Imagination has rarely done things the conventional way – she’s had two singles in the top ten at once, then shortly after, she signed her first recording contract. This summer she’ll make her debut at T in the Park to play to thousands of fans who voted her the winner of Sky One’s talent show “Must Be the Music”.
Elusive Glasgow outfit The Phantom Band released their debut album “Checkmate Savage” in 2009 and recently released current album “The Wants”. Fans can expect to hear a myriad of different genres and hits from both during their much anticipated slot at Balado.
Also appearing at T in the Park this summer is Edinburgh based band Found. Recently signed to the Scottish musical institution that is Chemikal Underground, the group began life as an experimental arts collective putting on many weird and wonderful events in art galleries, warehouses and even storage containers. Their unusual mix of garage rock, melodic pop and glitchy electronica has propelled them to the forefront of Scotland’s alternative music scene.
Teenage rock gods in the making Jack Townes were snapped up by record label giants Columbia on the merit of just one song and already have a tour with The View under their belt – good going for a band who have been together less than a year. The teenagers will join a roll call of legends and idols when they appear in Balado this summer.
Big Country, Jon Fratelli, Roddy Woomble, Twin Atlantic, Emma’s Imagination, The Phantom Band, Found and Jack Townes will join fellow countrymen Primal Scream, The View, KT Tunstall, Calvin Harris, Slam and Silicone Soul as well as Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters and a whole host of mega star talent on a knock out bill and the good news is – there’s more to come.
At the heart of T in the Park is the music and atmosphere that continually unites the crowd and creates a weekend of memorable moments that will last a lifetime. Brit Award and Grammy winners, multi-million selling artists, the best breakthrough talent, new music icons and legends….T in the Park 2011 has them all. Bring it on Balado.
A limited number of T in the Park Residence packages are still available to buy. The Residence offers festival goers a bespoke, luxury experience where all their accommodation needs are taken care of. Guests are welcomed into an oasis of indulgence to enjoy a unique festival experience in their luxury accommodation of choice. Once they have settled into their home for the weekend, festival goers can relax in the Residence Lounge Café & Bar or treat themselves to a pampering session in the spa before heading to see their favourite bands as well as accessing the festival’s hospitality area. There is no harmony like brotherly harmony, and few do it better than North Carolina’s incredible Avett Brothers.
Discovered by the legendary Rick Rubin, siblings Scott and Seth Avett will keep the Green Man family vibe going in the beautiful Brecon Beacons this August.
Major label debut I and Love and You, produced by Rubin, is packed with raw emotion and naked honesty and finds the brothers poised to breakthrough to the wider audience their songwriting deserves.
The unbridled energy of their self-styled “punkgrass” live show is a must-see – expect raw emotion, some stomping singalongs and the odd snapped banjo string!
Destroyer – aka multi-talented master craftsman and arranger extraordinaire Dan Bejar – headlines the Far Out Tent at Green Man on Saturday.
The Canadian’s ninth album Kaputt is an opulent, lyrical, game-changing masterpiece – elaborate, funny and funky early ‘80s pop songs brought to life by an eight-piece touring band. With a flurry of five star reviews and comparisons to Roxy Music and David Bowie, this astonishing record has rightly been hailed as “a retro dance soundtrack for disco fans”.

Josh T. Pearson’s acclaimed solo debut Last Of The Country Gentlemen is quite possibly the bravest album you’ll hear in 2011.
A collection of seven songs drawn from the lessons of what he describes as “a rough year”, this is personal, powerful, painful, music to melt the heart of the most hardened cynic. If you managed to catch Josh’s spellbinding appearance on Later With Jools Holland last month, you will be licking your lips in anticipation…
Alessi’s Ark is the stage name of West Londoner Alessi Laurent-Marke, whose 2009 debut was produced by Bright Eyes member Mike Mogis in Conor Oberst’s own studio. Now the prodigious 20-year-old is back with the follow-up Time Travel, released last week on the ever-excellent Bella Union.
Matthew And The Atlas have played in some of the UK’s most iconic venues thanks to a support slot last year with Mumford and Sons – not least the Green Man Boat party! Led by gravel-voiced singer Matt Hegarty, the band are now emerging in their own right as one of the brightest stars on the UK folk scene.
Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog – brothers Iwan, Aled and Dafydd Hughes – continue the family theme. Formed in 2006 between the predominantly Welsh-speaking villages of Botwnnog and Llaniestyn in the Lynn Peninsula, the band’s beautiful, rootsy, country-tinged sound is quickly attracting an ever-growing following.
You can discover Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog and scores of other amazing, upcoming new acts lovingly hand-picked by Green Man himself in the Brecon Beacons from August 19th to 21st.
And if you’re lucky, we might even have some more exciting news on the welcome return of one of Green Man’s very good friends up our sleeves for a rainy day…
