MDLBEAST has unveiled programming details and initial line up of speakers for their XP Music conference, the first of its kind in the Middle East. The three-day and night event will take place in Riyadh from 13th – 15th December and will host a large number of leading industry figures, regional and international, who will address topics that are essential for the amplification and evolution of the region’s music industry.

The conference will kick off with a live performance and a discussion panel that lays down the fundamental ingredients for success in music such as education, tech innovation and investments. The activations will also deal with cultural challenges facing professionalisation in the region, where music is yet to be perceived as a viable career path. When it comes to the role of technology in nurturing talent, the conference will feature a wide range of topics such as the latest production platforms, tools and innovations that can aid the progress of up-and-coming talent.

The Scene pillar at XP will be addressed through 19 activations that cover topics such as nightlife; creative tourism, media and the copyrights collection society. Within this category a fishbowl conversation will take place to discuss the role music can play in putting a city on the global map, exploring the power of placemaking and connecting the audience with a certain location through music. At XP, Baloo will bring back his experience to Riyadh to advocate for the nightlife scene as it grows to cater to the Saudi youth needs, enhances tourism, creates employment opportunities, and in turn, boosts the Saudi economy.

85 artists. Three stages. 24 hours of non stop music. Welcome to Unum Festival, a cultured gathering in a secret and untapped corner of Europe, nestled between pine forests, sun kissed beaches and mountainous backdrops. Last year it was the first proper underground event to go ahead post-Covid and today it announces its much anticipated 2022 edition lasts almost two days longer than previous editions from Wednesday 1st – Monday 6th June. Playing the idyllic Albanian getaway are Phase One headliners including Priku, Praslea, Raresh, Rhadoo, Ricardo Villalobos, Shonky, Sonya Moonear, Traumer, tINI, Cristi Cons, Dyed Soundorom, Fumiya Tanaka, Anthea, John Dimas, Vera, Molly, Seth Troxler and tens more. Head to unumfestival.com for full details and ticket info.

With its first few editions, Unum immediately won the hearts of underground music lovers, and the third edition last year officially restarted the European festival scene as the first event to happen safely after the initial Covid pandemic. It is a festival that is a feast for all the senses – the natural beauty of the setting, the heat of the sun, the soul enriching local culture that makes the whole event a colourful travel experience as well as forward thinking musical celebration.

The connoisseur crowd comes from all over Europe but is close-knit and friendly. Last year, in particular, the vibes were unreal given how long it had been since people had danced together with plenty of iconic DJ performances and spine-tingling moments sticking long in the memory.

Says Unum Director, Grego O’Halloran, “The experience of how Unum 2021 took place, in the context of a global pandemic, meant that thousands of people shared in a little piece of unique magic that will stay part of the festival’s history forever. This year for Unum 2022, we will be actively building on this same spirit and our ethos since day one of “become one”. On that basis, we’ve added another day at the start and the festival will run longer on the Monday also, because people just didn’t want to stop dancing! We’ll also be spicing up the Beach Stage with some new sounds this year and adding some new, fresh faces on the Pines. “

In 2022, the festival is extended by almost two days to make for an even more unforgettable trip in the beautiful Rana e Hedhun. It is a quiet corner of Europe in the town of Shengjin, on the idyllic Albanian coastline with mountainous backdrops, long gold-sand beaches and dusty landscapes that are a million miles away from everyday reality. It allows for non-stop music night and day, plus a fine array of heart-racing water sports, mouthwatering local food and drink offerings and plenty of  isolated bays and secluded woodland areas to explore.
Chief amongst them is Unum’s Pine Stage, which has become one of underground music’s most iconic settings. It is a secluded paradise surrounded by awe-inspiring nature and the sweet smell of pine, all with the finest DJs in the world laying down compelling sounds. As well as this there is music on the grand Main Stage and a wealth of beach parties that take advantage of the stunning sunsets and sunrises with DJs providing special musical memories to go with.

Providing the soundtrack this year are top-shelf selectors, returning favourites and red hot new talents including regulars and minimal kings Raresh, Ricardo, Praslea joined by Cristi Cons, Priku and Rhadoo. French house heroes Shonky and 2021’a Unum legends Dyed Soundorom, John Dimas and Jonny N’ Travis will also line up, while the ever-playful Seth Troxler headlines the Main Stage, Shimza plays the Beach Stage, new favs Vera, Molly and Anthea make a welcome debut and cult diggers including Sonya Moonear, Traumer, tINI, Fumiya Tanaka and tens more also play.

This is just the first wave with much more to come, so get the date in your diary and be sure to be part of the most exciting new festival in Europe next summer.

Rising techno star Indira Paganotto releases new “Himalaya” EP on Charlotte de Witte’s KNTXT

Order

KNTXT signs hotly-tipped techno artist Indira Paganotto for a new EP that showcases her unique sound across four compelling tracks.

Indira’s father was a DJ in the iconic Goa scene in India in the 90s, so she grew up surrounded by colourful, emotive techno and psytrance. She has brought that to her own DJ sets and productions ever since she moved to Madrid to pursue her career. Now Indira is coming out with her best EP to date.

“I got to know Indira Paganotto when we opened up for demo submissions earlier this year,” says KNTXT label boss Charlotte de Witte. “She immediately caught my attention with her unique take on psy/techno music. It feels very good to have her on board and I’m curious to see what the future holds for her.”

Indira adds, “I understand music as a state of trance where each track develops a journey and a story. Himalaya EP is the reflection of everything I learned since my childhood until today, the heritage and passion for Psytrance, the experiences in India, the connection with nature, as well as the feeling of freedom and strength like the gallop of a horse, the synths of Goa music, the love and the truth, which is what fills my life. Thank you Charlotte for understanding my language in such a true way. Ours is a real connection in such a sincere mental embrace, and I am proud to be part of your KNTXT family and to be able to show everyone who I am.”

The EP´s opening track, ‘Takeshi’, is a slick techno roller that is rippled with psychedelic melodies and bright acid lines. They bleep and squeak up top to create a hypnotic effect as the drums march on. ‘Sultans Of Mountains’ contains intense psychedelic synths waning about the mix. The drums are stripped back and urgent, and crashing hits and smart filters bring real tension as this one unfolds in an arresting fashion.

On the other hand, ‘Himalaya’ has a deep and sleek techno atmosphere where astral pads and heavenly vocal coos make for a cinematic sound that will cast a real spell on the crowd. Last, but certainly not least we have the edgy and heavily textured ‘Cobra’ with its unrelenting drums, slapping hits and futuristic, psytrance-tinged melodies all designed to mess with your mind.

This is an EP packed with fresh techno, straight from the breakout star Indira Paganotto.

Istanbul artist KRCL delivers the first release on new label Empyrean

Titled ‘You Said So’, the first single of the label is a synth, percussion and vocal led groover sitting between different influences of the underground and a puissantly dramatic body of work that demands heedful listening.

The rises and falls in this celestial sonic experience represent KRCL’s creative approach in which cinematic melodies and gently sculpted rhythms come to the fore along with gripping vocals.

The gradients of resonance in ‘You Said So’ are melancholically radiant, allowing tender synth licks and accompanying aural elements to penetrate deep as well as letting listeners’ souls find solace in motion.

The One In The Woods festival adds further names – A.M.C, The Prototypes, TC, MEL join DJ Hazard, Kings Of The Rollers & Dillinja

https://www.instagram.com/theoneinthewoods_

A.M.C, THE PROTOTYPES, TC, MEL & MANY MORE ADDED TO THE ONE IN THE WOODS LINE-UP

They join DJ Hazard, Kings Of The Rollers, Dillinja, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and more as the UKs biggest DnB & Techno festival returns with another monster line-up

Liverpool’s community minded The One In The Woods festival keeps on getting bigger and better with the news that heavyweights A.M.C, The Prototypes, TC, MEL and more have been added to the bill alongside previously announced DnB titans DJ Hazard, Kings Of The Rollers, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Matrix & Futurebound, Kenny Ken, Dillinja and Randall. Secure your limited early bird ticket now at https://theoneinthewoods.com

2021 was the debut for The One In The Woods, but it set a dizzyingly high standard with next level production, sound and a warm, friendly and up for it crowd. It is the work of The One Promotions, an experienced and accomplished group of friends who promoted many events across Liverpool and Manchester. Now they bring together the two cities at this titanic event with four stages covering all aspects of techno and drum and bass in real style.

The location is one that takes you away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life and to a lush green setting in Orrell Hill Woods with easy transport links from both Liverpool and Manchester. Surrounded by tall forests and with secluded woodland areas, it has a magical feel that adds something special to the occasion.

The latest additions supersize the already huge DnB side of the festival, with Titan Records head honcho A.M.C, Brighton duo The Prototypes, influential selector TC and DnB rising star MEL added to an already heavyweight line-up, with a monster headliner as well as a host of additional names still to be announced in the new year. These come on top of a who’s who of the techno world, with Nastia, Luke Slater, Daria Kolosova and FRAZI.ER joining Dax J, Fatima Hajji, Perc, SPFDJ and more.

Next to the music, you can expect a vibrant mix of pop up merchants and mouth watering local food vendors catering to the masses, with both vegetarian and vegan options on offer.

The clock is now ticking for the countdown to this perfect summer getaway. Make sure you move fast to book your tickets.

Premiere / Denis Ago – Don’t Stop via Mother Recordings / Release Date: 19/11

Artist(s): Denis Ago
Title: Don’t Stop
Record Label: Mother Recordings
Cat.Number: MOTHER133
Release Date: 19th November 2021

Tracklist:
1) Don’t Stop

Don’t Stop is the brand new tune from Denis Ago on Berlin’s most cherished party label, Mother Recordings. In a short time this artist has become part of the underground scene thanks to his fine grasp of house, tech and minimal on labels like Habitat and Toolroom. Now he shows why.

Don’t Stop is the sort of full flavour house cut to get any club going. The fat synth bass props up the squelchy beats, while rising chords bring the colour. What really finishes it off in style though is the vocal – the steamy, soulful female coos up top that will get hands in the air and smiles on faces.

This is another classy tune from all.
