Finnish metallers HIM to play exclusive show at Sonisphere UK

Flying in from Helsinki, Finland for an exclusive one-off performance, love-metallers HIM make their debut at Knebworth this summer. Last year’s “Tears On Tape” saw the triumphant return of HIS INFERNAL MAJESTY after a three year gap, with many citing it as their greatest work since 2003’s breakthrough “Love Metal” album. Anyone fortunate enough to catch them on their subsequent tour would have witnessed a band genuinely savouring their every moment on stage, as they showcased their unique fusion of forlorn balladry and heavy, synth laden sounds.

Possibly the last opportunity to see them in the UK before they start work on their next album, don’t miss the chance to see hits such as “Buried Alive By Love”, “Funeral Of Hearts”, “Wicked Game” and “Wings Of A Butterfly”.

Not content with already performing on the APOLLO stage on the Saturday, thrash legends ANTHRAXare taking advantage of a day off on the Friday to give those in BOHEMIA a special treat they will never forget. Scott Ian and co will be stomping their way through their classic “Among The Living” album in full, in a sweaty, heaving tent. “Among The Living”, “Caught In A Mosh”, “I Am The Law”, “NFL”, “Indians” – the list goes on, the hits don’t stop – this will be simply unmissable. Says Ian:

“We love to play these songs and people love to hear them so we're really fucking excited to be doing this special show the day before our main-stage performance at Sonisphere Knebworth playing (for the first time ever) just the Among The Living record for you, our UK faithful!
It's gonna be sick. See you soon my friends. Cheers, Scott”

With four albums under their belts and a fifth on the way, COMEBACK KID are undeniably a staple of the modern hardcore scene. Having performed on all four corners of the globe, including some of Europe’s premier festivals, this is a well oiled machine to say the least, with a reputation for incredible live shows.

“Can't wait to get back to the UK and be able to play Sonisphere! Last time I had the opportunity to see the Prodigy was at a festival in Serbia but I missed them because I had to spend the night in jail” confesses Andrew Neufeld. “Let’s hope I can make it to see them this time!”

Expect chaos in BOHEMIA as COMEBACK KID belt out anthems such as “Wake The Dead “, “Defeated” and “Should Know Better” at their only UK festival this summer.

One of the pioneers of the NWOBHM, Belfast’s SWEET SAVAGE join the line up at the request of one Mr Lars Ulrich. Formed in 1979, the band had called it a day by 1985, but reformed 90s after a new surge of interest in the band off the back of Metallica’s cover of their song “Killing Time”.

Having played at last year’s SONISPHERE festival in Spain, OCTOBER FILE make their way to Knebworth this year. Blending punk, hardcore and industrial metal and lacing it with a political edge, expect a ferocious set from the Wallingford four-piece. “October File are stoked to playing an awesome festival with some great bands already announced, put on by great people and a great organization” says Bassplayer Steve Beatty. “See you in the pit.“

Brilliantly catchy, EUREKA MACHINES come armed with huge, lavish power-pop perfection. Formed by Chris Catalyst (occasional guitar/bass wrangler for The Sisters Of Mercy, Mariachi El Bronx and Ginger), the four piece feel their most apt description is the promising: ‘Imagine if the Beatles and the Beach Boys met Motorhead, jammed with the Cardiacs and created the best band you’ve never heard. Until now.’

Many teenagers dream of being rockstars when they grow up, but for brothers Mikaiah and Anaiah Lei the dream became a reality before they could even apply for a driving license. Recording their first album aged just 15 and 12 respectively, the duo who make up THE BOTS have taken their garage punk across the world, supporting the likes of Refused, Bad Brains and Tenacious D, as well as at numerous high profile festivals.

After rocking the Strongbow stage at the 2010 SONISPHERE, Pontypridd’s STRAIGHT LINES return this year to rock Knebworth once more. Armed with a new EP, this Welsh Quartet come armed with big riffs, bigger melodies and an exhilarating live show. Says the band: “Straight Lines are very happy to be returning to their favourite UK festival. We've all attended the last 3 Sonispheres and are very much looking forward to playing this year, instead of being the super drunk people on the other side of the barrier.. well, for at least the duration of our set. See you in the pit!”

London rockers ZICO CHAIN join the line up this year. Having held their own supporting giants such as Velvet Revolver, Halestorm and supporting SONISPHERE headliners IRON MAIDEN at the O2 last year, the trio should have no problem dazzling the crowds at Knebworth.

BLACK DOGS are about to take the UK metal scene by force and SONISPHERE is not going to know what hit it. This unstoppable pack of northern bastards deliver a raw and intense live show that’s got the industry taking notice in a big way. With backing from Radio One’s Rock Show and support slots with the likes of Hatebreed, Stray From The Path and Bring Me The Horizon to boast, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world sits up and takes notice.

Recently seen supporting Alkaline Trio, and performing at last year’s VANS WARPED TOUR, Transatlantic quartet LOVE ZOMBIES bring their infectious power pop to the SATELLITE stage on the Friday to spread some California sunshine.

Flying the flag for traditional metal, STORMZONE (who you may have seen recently supporting Saxon) come armed with wailing guitars, galloping bass and huge choruses. “We have toured with many great bands over the years and performed at a lot of European festivals, but being given the opportunity to rock the stages at Sonisphere is definitely the highlight of the Stormzone career so far.” They proclaim. “This is what being in a band is all about!!”

Math rockers SHRINE look set to devastate the crowds with their technical, dynamic assault on both mind and ear. Blending the aggression of hardcore, the grandeur of post rock and the synchopated characteristics of math rock, the Brighton four piece are impossible to pigeonhole and are definitely ones to watch. Says SHRINE:“We are so stoked that we will be playing this years Sonisphere Festival along with some of our favourite bands!”

Coming all the way from New Plymouth, New Zealand, RIVAL STATE make their first UK festival appearance at SONISPHERE. Variously labeled rock, punk, grunge and everything in between, these Kiwis specialize in loud, catchy music with a hard edge.

Formed in the home counties, THE WILD LIES peddle in hard rock, fused with intricate, grinding riffage, colliding with stadium rock chorus melodies. If you like stomping riffs, ear melting solos and choruses to make the walls sweat, don’t miss their Saturday set at SONISPHERE.

Also joining the line up are London melodic metalheads THE RAVEN AGE and EMPIRE KILL.

Hotly tipped breakthrough acts join the T in the Park line-up

T in the Park festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are excited to reveal that some of the most hotly tipped breakthrough acts around have joined the bill for this summer’s festival, which will take place in Balado over 11th – 13th July.

Kiesza, Billy Lockett, MNEK, Fatherson, Dan Croll, James Bay, Catfish and the Bottlemen, John Wizards, Raleigh Ritchie, Jaguar Skills and All About She are Balado-bound this July, joining the ever-growing T in the Park bill.

Canadian-born, London-based singer-songwriter Kiesza hit the top of the charts with the sophisticated house-tinged pop gem Hideaway. A talented and hugely in-demand songwriter, she’s also written for Rihanna, Kylie and Icona Pop and will make her T in the Park debut this summer.

Having played his way from the basement to the studio, whilst captivating fans at shows up and down the country, Billy Lockett’s distinctive style brings together piano and guitar aided by a soulful voice, charming lyrics.

The hugely in-demand producer and vocalist MNEK was being tipped by the likes of The Guardian, NME, Dazed and Confused and Popjustice when he was aged just 15. He featured on and co-wrote four songs on Rudimental’s platinum selling Home, co-wrote Need U (100%) with Duke Dumont and A*M*E – which earned him a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Dance Recording’, has remixed for Bastille and Tinie Tempah, wrote and featured on Gorgon City’s massive top 5 hit Ready For Your Love, and produced Feel So Good from Kylie Minogue’s new album. 2014 looks to be his busiest year to date, with his hotly anticipated debut album set to firmly establish him as a solo artist in his own right.

Glasgow-based four-piece Fatherson hail from Kilmarnock and made their T in the Park debut on the T Break Stage in 2011. They’ve been making waves in the Scottish music scene with their anthemic indie tunes, following a string of supports with bands such as Frightened Rabbit, Feeder, Twin Atlantic and Idlewild. Their latest single I Like Not Knowing is currently receiving major airplay by Radio 1 DJs Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe and Greg James, with the track being voted Most Loved Track on BBC Radio 1’s Review Show this week.

British singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dan Croll combines folk elements and classic Paul Simon-like melodies with electronic beats, African polyrhythms and guitar hooks. He released his debut LP, Sweet Disarray, in March.

Singer-songwriter James Bay has been captivating audiences with his raw pop melodies and gravelled voice at appearances at Communion's monthly night at Notting Hill Arts Club in London. A hugely successful run of support slots with fellow T in the Park acts John Newman and Kodaline have won him yet more fans.

Catfish and the Bottlemen’s energetic guitar-driven rock and roll is winning them legions of fans across the country. The band signed to Island Records earlier this year, and their latest single Kathleen has been receiving heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1, XFM and on MTV, with the Llandudno-based four-piece widely tipped for great things in 2014.

Cape Town-based John Wizards released their eponymous debut album to major critical acclaim last year, with The Guardian featuring the record at no.8 in their top 10 albums of 2013. They played a series of UK dates supporting Jagwar Ma and will bring their infectious mix of South African house, R&B, shangaan electro, reggae, afropop, soukous, rumba and afrobeat to the fields of Balado this summer.

Bristol-born Raleigh Ritchie – aka Jacob Anderson – is also known for his role as Grey Worm in Game Of Thrones. He’s supported the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Angel Haze, and his recently-released second EP, Black and Blue, is a stunning mix of urban pop and raw storytelling.

The original ninja-DJ Jaguar Skills burst onto the scene with his extraordinary DJ talent and ability to produce awe-inspiring mixtapes, leading to a coveted BBC Radio 1 ‘In New DJs we Trust’ slot. With numerous sold-out UK tours under his belt, he was further propelled into the global spotlight with roof-raising sets at festivals and super-clubs around the world.

UK production trio All About She have between them worked with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, VV Brown, Wookie, Roses Gabor and Wretch 32. They wrote Intro for Tinie Tempah’s debut album Discovery, with singer Vanya Taylor writing and lending vocals to his 2011 hit Simply Unstoppable. Having recently released a brand new EP Go Slow, they’re being widely tipped as ones to watch, with Radio 1 & 1Xtra DJs MistaJam, Zane Lowe and Toddla T all giving airplay to their single Higher (Free).

SW4 2014 lineup adds Pusha T, Just Blaze, Tiga, Wilkinson and more

Check out the latest additions to London's premier electronic music festival South West Four which takes over Clapham Commin this August bank holiday weekend.

The latest additions include Tiga, rapper Pusha T, Wilkinson, Gorgon City, rap producer Just Blaze, & Second City.

After destroying dance floors worldwide with their hypnoticprimal techno track ‘Let’s Go Dancing’, the demand to see Tiga go head-to-head on the decks with Audion has soared. Many festivals have similarly battled it out for their sought-after services but it is SW4 that will deliver a stellar UK festival exclusive. March marked their return to the studio with the mammoth release of ‘Fever’, another deliriously soothing techno jam which has again illustrates theirtechnical brilliance and has since made its way onto every dance floor imaginable. This clash of their mind-seducing sounds will be a red hot highlight of SW4 2014.

After exhilarating the UK crowds last year as part of Chase & Status’ arena tourUS hip hop sensation Pusha T returns to the Capital at SW4 for his exclusive London festival performance of 2014. Recently signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, Pusha will arrive in London off the back of the critical and commercial success of his debut album ‘My Name Is My Name.’ With the recent news emerging that the Bronx rapper is currently working alongsidePharrel and The Neptunes and that his new album ‘King Push’ is in production, we can’t wait to welcome Pusha to Clapham Common and his armoury of freshly produced beats.

Signed exclusively to Ram RecordsWilkinson has spent the last year establishing himself as one of drum & bass’ greatest assets. Having caught the ear of label boss Andy C back in 2010, Wilkinson has enjoyed unconditional support from BBC Radio 1, with releases such as ‘Afterglow’‘Automatic’ and ‘Need to Know’ propelling him to the very forefront of the scene. Having delivered an outstanding performance at O2 Brixton Academy over Easter, it’s clear there are very few acts in the world that can rival his electrifying live performances. Forming one of the weekend’s most exciting debutsSW4 get ready for arrival of the unmistakeable Wilkinson.

Having established themselves amongst the hottest duos in electronic musicGorgon City bring their infectious funk-laced house sounds to South West Four. After marking their territory in 2013, the duo have fused varied electronic genres to create a sound that has quite literally taken the world by storm. With an impressive arsenal of peak-time weapons including ‘Real’, ‘Intentions’ and ‘Ready For Your Love’, Gorgon City combine hip-swinging rhythms and butt-shaking bass, the end result of which is a salubrious yet sordid sound. With South West Four representing their exclusive London festival performance of 2014, this is a must attend event for all their fans.
Throughout the past ten years, Stanton Warriors have honed a uncategorized sound that has been championed everywhere from London warehousesMiami boat parties and illegal Detroit raves to the stages of Glastonbury,Burning Man and Coachella. With a freshly rejuvenated sound for 2014, the Bristol-based duo will return to South West Four for the first time since 2006 for a thrilling main stage performance. Their indefinable sound has led toreleases on XL RecordsFabric and Universal and official remixes for Daft PunkFatboy SlimM.I.A and Gorillaz. This phenomenal output and remarkable longevity has ensured the Stanton’s celebrated status as they manage to remain freshoriginal and relevant.

Hailing from New JerseyUS producer Just Blaze has worked with the biggest names in hip hop including Snoop DoggUsherKanye West and Busta Rhymes to name just a few. With a distinctive knack for using old-school soul samples in unique ways to create hooks that are cherished worldwide, the arrival of the established beat-maker at SW4 is huge. As the go-to man for newfresh and innovative ideas, his recent collaboration with Baauer, ‘Higher’, has blown up across the globe and is sure to cause unforgettable scenes as he arrives in London for this exclusive performance.

Born in Chicago and raised in the UK it’s no surprise that our next addition has rhythms and grooves running through his veins. Over the last twelve months SecondCity has quickly established himself as one of the most talked about breakthrough names in electronic music thanks to two outstanding EPs on Dirtybird and Saints & Sonnets. With his latest track ‘I Wanna Feel’, a 90’s throwback classic with a firm foot in the future, set to storm the UK chartsfollowing its imminent release on Ministry of Sound, we are delighted to confirm that SecondCity will join us for his exclusive London festival play on Sunday 24th August.

Wychwood is also proud to support and partner with  World Vision, the world's largest children's charity bringing real hope to millions of children in the world's hardest places. Their dedicated 'Hope House' will allow festival-goers to take part in ‘Calabash’ and be transported to Sierra Leone and hear remarkable and inspirational stories of children living from these areas. Wychwood festival also partners with Toybox for the first year, a charity on a mission to end the injustice of street children, one of the world's most vulnerable groups. Presenting a marquee packed with fun activities for the whole family, creative muscles will be flexed and pop up piano played out with a tree of life, story telling, workshops and entertainment.

Anyone who has been to Wychwood before will know that the festival offers an unrivalled selection of activities for children, and this year is no exception. As former National Street Theatre champions and regulars of Jools Hollands' yearly Hootenanny celebration, Electric Cabaret will bring their always exciting, and often surreal mime performance to the Cheltenham Racecourse. Utilising anything that they can get their hands on, Stomp-inspired SoundSketch create high energy and exhilarating pieces of music using brooms, kitchen sinks and dustbin lids, with their own imaginations being the only limitation. While young and old alike can learn the basics of Bhangra dancing, become a 'bubbleologist' with SamSam the Bubbleman and join the Brazilian/tribal inspired 'Glamba' drumming band, Wychwood really offers something truly memorable for the entire family.

Festival revelers are invited to visit the healing and sculpture areas to relax with a soothing hot stone massage or reflexology session. Superspa DJ will also return to Wychwood this year, allowing festival-goers the chance to catch their favourite acts from the comfort of their own hot tub located directly opposite the main stage. It really is the best seat in the house.
