The Cribs, The Kills and more added to Isle of Wight Festival 2016 lineup

The Isle of Wight Festival today announces five acts for the 2016 festival, taking place 9-12th June at Seaclose Park. Joining the line up are returning indie brothers The Cribs, rock’n’roll duo The Kills, Britpop alumni Ocean Colour Scene, legendary rockers Status Quo and festival favourites Mike + The Mechanics.

Queen + Adam Lambert, Stereophonics and Faithless will all perform across the weekend along with Iggy Pop, Twin Atlantic, Busted, Jess Glynne, Sigma and The Corrs at what is the first festival of the Summer – weekend tickets are available now fromwww.isleofwightfestival.com.

Renowned for their energetic brand of indie-rock, The Cribs released their sixth album ‘For All My Sisters’ last March which peaked at Number Nine in the UK Charts. In the year of their 10th anniversary the band were honoured with the ‘Spirit of Independence’ award at the Q Awards and ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ at the annual NME Awards.

Comprised of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, The Kills have been described as rock ’n ’roll’s best-kept secret. Together the duo have released four critically acclaimed albums, including the 2011 release  'Blood Pressures’ which reached the Top 40 in both the US and UK. The band will be playing US shows including Coachella Festival in April.

Ocean Colour Scene will be returning to the festival for the first time since they wowed crowds in 2010. Following a sold out tour in January to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their ‘Moseley Shoals’ album, the band will be performing this classic release at The Isle of Wight Festival in its entirety. ‘Moseley Shoals’ is just one of three of the band’s albums which reached the Top Five in the Official Charts and contributed to their nine successive Top 20 hit singles.

One of Britain’s best loved rock bands Status Quo will be performing classic hits such as ‘Whatever You Want’ and ‘Down Down’ in a special performance which will be one of the last opportunities to see the band in their full set up following a recent announcement that after 2016 they will be hanging up their electric guitars for good.

Isle of Wight Festival veterans Mike + The Mechanics will once again be delighting crowds with hits such as ‘Over My Shoulder’ and ‘All I Need Is a Miracle’. Genesis founding member Mike Rutherford will be joined by one of the UK’s most prolific R&B singers Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar, who has previously toured with the likes of Rod Stewart and Paulo Nutini.

Y Not Festival adds indie rock legends Johnny Marr and Ocean Colour Scene to 10th birthday line-up

Y Not has added some indie, rock and pop legends in the form of ex-Smiths man Johnny Marr and Ocean Colour Scene, as the Derbyshire-based festival celebrates its 10th year in style.

Following last month's announcement, which included Snoop Dogg, Primal Scream and Basement Jaxx as the festival's three headliners, the festival has thrown in yet more iconic talent to the mixture for the weekend of July 31st-August 2nd.

Marr comes to the festival fresh from receiving an NME award for 'Godlike Genius', and while he made his name with 'The Smiths' and to younger audiences as guitarist with 'The Cribs', his solo catalogue is bursting full of punchy tunes. Ocean Colour Scene themselves have been celebrating their 25th anniversairy, and will finish their summer at the festival.

Other additions to the line-up come in the form of  Florida's ska-punk faves Less Than Jake, and another American act, indie trio We Are Scientists. Y Not favourites, Reverend & the Makers return after a few years away, while hard rock bands like Don Broco, Augustines and Young Guns add another element to the line-up.

Nottingham's very own Indiana adds a tinge of electro-pop, with The Lancashire Hotpots bringing comedy folk to the stage. Japanese psychedelic act Bo Ningen, alt-R&B and 'Game of Thrones' actor Raleigh Ritchie, with Hacktivist adding their own brand of rap and metal to proceedings.

Mancunian grunge band Nine Black Alps and Sheffield stars Rolo Tomassi keep things alive and kicking, while The Bohicas, rockers LTNT and Solemn Sun add more rock to the line-up. Blues singer Kim Churchill and the soulful Jake Isaacs add a softer touch to proceeders, while Zoax round off the latest line-up announcement with their brand of hardcore metal.

Y Not Festival 2015 also has acoustic stars Saint Raymond and Nick Mulvey, rockers We Are the Ocean and Pulled Apart By Horses. BBC Sound of 2015 shortlisters, Slaves are also on the bill, as are Rae Morris, Honeyblood, Gengahr, Allusondrugs and KIng Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys among other acts. Tickets are priced from £89.50 and can be found at Ynotfestivals.co.uk.

Galtres Festival 2012

Widely regarded as the UK’s foremost folk singer songwriter, Mercury Prize nominee, Seth Lakeman is Sunday co-headliner, alongside Adam Ant, Billy Bragg and The Men They Couldn’t Hang. Friday night delights include Buzzcocks, and an acoustic set from Ocean Colour Scene and we are thrilled that BRIT Award nominated indie rock band Guillemots headline on Saturday.

The ‘local’ talent in support of our headliners this year is amazing, and we are lucky to have Leeds guitar maestro Jon Gomm hosting a master class – Jon’s talent was recently ‘endorsed’ by Stephen Fry on twitter, causing a media frenzy! – Ellen And The Escapades are topping a Leeds stage, The Talks headlining the Hull stage and York’s Chris Helme, Littlemores and the inspired Arts Barge Project make a welcome return.

This year, sees another first: Galtres Festival falls on the final weekend of the York Mystery Plays, and we have got together with Script Yorkshire and the York Settlement Players to bring modern versions of the plays to the festival.

Continuing the festival’s medieval theme of Dragons & Knights, there will be jousting, archery and a whole range of creative family activities centered upon a medieval village, including falconry and a Dragon Ball!

As ever, dozens of workshops and activities will hopefully keep families and children happy and within the festival is a Yorkshire beer and cider showcase with more than 100 different varieties – from Ampleforth Abbey Cider to Black Sheep Ale.

Galtres is a festival with admirable environmental and conservation policies that continues to pride itself as among the greenest, run by volunteers and raising money for local charities, it appears to have found the perfect balance featuring major headliners and making room for local artists – never too big for its boots and unlikely to sell-out to the music promotion equivalent of Tescos.
