Shakedown confirm NERO to headline Supercharged Arena

Shakedown is thrilled to announce Nero as the headliner of the Supercharged Arena as Brighton’s biggest festival once again delivers an outstanding line-up featuring the most vital names in electronic music.  Nero bring their adrenaline fuelled, high octane show to Shakedown for what promises to be an explosive performance. Having spent the past few years storming across the globe, amassing a devoted following and enjoying international success with their #1 album ‘Welcome Reality’, the Grammy-Award winning act touch down in Brighton with a show that is bursting at the seams with incendiary drum & bass, dubstep and electro house.

Nero join a bill that features serious main stage heavy weights including hometown headliners Rizzle Kicks, urban pop superstar Labrinth, electronic aristocrat DJ Fresh who will be performing live and soul man Maverick Sabre.  Bass music superstar Sub Focus will be laying down the beats in the Supercharged Arena alongside Radio 1’s new music legend Zane Lowe and a much anticipated 4 hour takeover from drum & bass dons RAM Records.  With Annie Mac, Kerri Chandler, Toddla T Sound, MK and many more slaying audiences in the Audio Arena, Shakedown is set to finish the party season in serious style.

The Fo:rem

The Fo:rem, the garden’s popular intellectual platform, has also announced some really exciting names in the fields of science, philosophy, technology and literature that will be enriching gardeners this summer.  This summer’s line-up of movers & shakers includes Jamie Catto, Robin Ince, Josie Long, Aleks Krotoski, Chris Hatherill, Ann Daniels and Benjamin Morris.  We are also told that we can expect mind-bending talks, spoken word performance and workshops hosted by Liars League, BERG, Super/Collider, Literary Death Match, Elephant, The Lost Lectures, Fast Future and PLEB.

The Never Ever Land Theatre and Nocturnium for Lost Children

As with everything at the party, gardeners can expect oodles of participation, interaction, simulation and sheer silliness. And the Never Ever Land Theatre Tent is of course no exception. The Troubadours of Tax Deductible Theatre Company have confirmed a delectable line-up of performance to suit every palate. Gardeners can look forward to hilarious, rock n’ roll performances from Shitfaced Shakespeare, mind-blowing bowing from the all-singing, all-dancing string quartet Bow Jangles, surrealist puppetry by Colossal Crumbs and the Goodyearian National Theatre Company will be back to bemuse and baffle audiences with their nation customs and dances.  There will be psychedelic dancing by Huru Dance, big surprises from Little Bulb Theatre, mischievous revelry from the naughty, natty Victorian Tiny Wallops and of course the in-house reprobates Tax Deductible Theatre Company will be offering delightfully shambolic comedy hours.

And when the theatre closes its doors after dark, the fun does not stop. Opening at midnight the 'Nocturnium for Lost Children' will be a haunted den of debauchery, featuring award-winning burlesque act Femme Ferale, music from King Lagoon's Flying Swordfish Dance Band and La Mort Subite …amongst many others.

A few favourite picks for Family Gardeners…

There will be plenty of fun, games and activities for young gardeners too.  Look out for Sky Blue Theatre Company’s theatrical workshops, which they will be running for children of all ages in the Never Ever Land Theatre Tent.  Join The Flying Seagulls Circus for some ‘laughter therapy’, circus skills and other crazy games at Kids Camp.  Where young gardeners can also take part in the multi-coloured glittery Candy Floss Olympics with The Secret Micronation of Candy Queens, join a drumming circle, learn capoeira, explore the music maze, screen print a t-shirt, create a headdress, write a story with Writers Ink Suitcase Stories, make a pizza or watch a puppet show with The Italian Job.  And after all that, families can relax under the stars with Ready Steady Science at a storytelling workshop. And for the really young gardeners Kids Camp will be running multi-sensory workshops too.

Soul Fire Restaurant

The garden’s sensual food sanctuary, the Soul Fire Restaurant is now taking bookings for The Secret Garden Party 2012. Returning for its fourth year, this is the perfect place to relax, connect with friends and replenish a famished soul during the party. Housed in a cosy hub of deliciously dressed yurts, Soul Fire provides a retreat where you can eat and be merry. Live music will play all day and evening guests will be treated to fabulous performances.

Theme: Standing on Ceremony

The real power of the party is not just about what you are watching or doing, but the fact that you are watching and doing it together. This year, as The Garden celebrates her 10th Birthday, we explore those ceremonies, rituals, initiations, anniversaries and carnivals that bind us together, that emphasise matter over mind, that emphasise our true gifts as humans: social existence.

Stop Making Sense Festival announces full lineup

Lil' Louis / Ron Trent & Chez Damier / Benji B & MC Judah / Adrian Sherwood
A.Skillz / Move D / Steffi / Deetron / Tortured Soul (live) / Jimmy Edgar (live)
The Correspondents (live) and many more…

Going bold with a lineup that reads like a who’s who of UK and European electronic music, Stop Making Sense 2012 looks stronger than ever – where London, Berlin and Paris collide.

The Stop Making Sense 2012 lineup brings together the cream of dance music talent for five days and nights of partying by the sea – with Lil’ Louis, Benji B & MC Judah, Ron Trent & Chez Damier, Move D, A Skillz, Adrian Sherwood, Steffi and Deetron, plus Tortured Soul, Jimmy Edgar and The Correspondents live – and that’s only some of what you can expect!

One of the founding fathers of house music, Lil’ Louis is an internationally renowned artist, producer, DJ, songwriter and author. Epitomising the sound of Chicago house, Lil’ Louis is a true legend. Also repping Chicago house are Ron Trent & Chez Damier. The pair, who founded Prescription Records – widely considered one of the most forward-thinking electronic music labels of all time – in the early ‘90s, are reunited for the first time in 15 years!

Deviation head and Radio 1 DJ, Benji B is renowned for his eclectic and diverse collection and his broad DJ style, where genres are mixed and matched seamlessly. Pioneer dub producer, experimentalist and reggae champion, Adrian Sherwood promises a set that celebrates his three decades in the business. Remix mastermind, A.Skillz ups the ante, with his mashup party style.

German house and techno producer Move D pushes boundaries and opens new doors with his music. Experimental and exciting, his will be a set to remember. Dutch DJ, producer, label boss and OstGut Ton favourite, Steffi is one of electronic music’s most skillful DJs. She’ll mix up an eclectic set that will delve into deep, analogue and disco house. And, with sets that last the dancefloor distance, Swiss techno DJ and producer Deetron brings his bouncy, melodic Detroit-loving sound, promising to be a highlight.
Brooklyn’s Tortured Soul bring their live house music show – renowned as they are for their soulful sound and intriguing performances. An exponent of electronic eclecticism, Jimmy Edgar funks it up, and with a new album coming in June his set is sure to offer plenty of surprises. And, rounding up the live headliners, The Correspondents return to Stop Making Sense, exploring their own twisted history of music, taking in jazz, electro, jungle, dubstep and drum’n’bass – with bounding MC Mr Bruce over the top.

As well as a bundle of headliners who could hold this five-day party on their own, Stop Making Sense 2012 is serving up a stunning list of DJs and acts, including Dark Sky, Daniel Avery (Stopmakingme), Nick Höppner, Sketchy, Moxie, George Fitzgerald, Etienne Tron, Hannah Holland, Another Amit and Sven Weisemann, and a whole list of others…

Stop Making Sense 2012 presents a stellar lineup of acts from across the dance music spectrum – from jazz, Latin and Afro house, to Chicago via Detroit and techno, through reggae, dubstep and electro – a kaleidoscope of sun, sea and electronic entertainment.

The music programme runs 12pm until 1am in Tisno, with two stages, boat parties, a private beach, tiki bars, and much more… From 11pm to 7am, the late-night action continues at the local Barbarella’s open-air club. There’s nothing better than partying under Croatian stars until a steady sunrise takes revellers into a new day of the nonsensical and sublime.

Stop Making Sense is a music and dance festival, a summer haven and a sunshine getaway all rolled into one. But it’s really mostly about a true love of music. Get involved!

TICKETS: Early bird tickets have now sold out. But tickets are still only £100. http://stopmakingsense.eu/?p=628
TRAVEL/ACCOMMODATION: The closest airports to Tisno are Zadar and Split, both serviced by Ryanair and Easyjet, and approximately a 60-minute drive away. Stop Making Sense works with a local transfer company to make the trip to and from the airport a breeze. Stop Making Sense 2012 also has on-site accommodation. Not too close to the stages, yet within crawling distance to all the action. For more information and bookings check out www.stopmakingsense.eu.

Basscamp Festival takes place between 2nd and 6th April 2012. Acts already on the banging bass heavy line-up include Thomas Gandey, Benny Page, DJ Switch and Marco del Horno alongside many others. The line-up is guaranteed to have the mountains shaking. Embrace the snow, sun and musical mayhem of Basscamp Festival.

With 625km of piste, some of the most awesome snow parks in the world including the Burton Stash, the crazy Swiss Wall and some of the best music venues in The Alps, Morzine will be the place to be in April 2012.

800 tickets are available for Morzine’s first 5 day music, ski and snowboard festival and accommodation packages including a 5 day festival wristband are available from a miniscule €299. The resort is just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Geneva airport.

The festival is set to build on the success of other winter resort events such as The Brits and Snowbombing, which have gone from strength to strength in recent years. Unlike other alpine festivals, Basscamp is not limited to a package from a tour operator, making it much more flexible for attendants whilst also appealing to local residents, seasonnaires and workers in other ski resorts.

Organised by Morzine resident of 9 years Justin Bull, the Basscamp Festival is the newest contender on the international music festival scene. And Justin pulls no punches – the gloves were well and truly off during Winter 2011. Justin’s Basscamp Apres gigs redefined ‘apres-ski’ – usually on a massive terrace at the bottom of a piste, surrounded by snow and sunshine. And they were just a taste of what’s to come!

Justin is also responsible for bringing big name UK DJs over from the UK to play in one of Morzine’s largest venues, L’Opera. The Freestylers and Plump DJs well and truly brought the house down – Morzine had seen nothing like it before.

But Basscamp isn’t just about the music. There’ll be three on-piste snow sports competitions for pro skiers and snowboarders – and those that would like to be! International DJs playing piste-side will create absolute mountain madness and a unique party atmosphere in the glorious spring sunshine.

To seal the deal on our amazing Alpine adventure the festival reaches its peak (we only started at the basecamp, remember…) on the Friday afternoon following into the evening. There’ll be a thumping free après ski street party with a 1980s fancy dress theme for festival wristband holders and the rest of the resort too, slap bang in the centre of Morzine.

GLADE STAGE

Featuring the best electronic talent around, the cross-genre Glade Stage is headlined by German techno-legend Sven Vath. Having enjoyed a hugely successful worldwide career spanning over 30 years, Sven is one of the founders of German techno and a driving force behind electronic dance music with his infamous Cocoon label, parties and nightclub. Famous for his marathon club-sets at Berlin’s notorious Dorian Grey to weekly parties in Ibiza to a non-stop global tour schedule, we are very pleased to welcome Sven to Glade.

Sven Vath said of performing: ‘I'm really looking forward to performing at this year's Glade Festival! I've heard a lot about this event, that it is a serious music lovers' festival with a great line up and most of all I'm looking forward to DJing in the great English countryside.’

Joint headlining is Drum & Bass hero Andy C who presents his jaw-dropping Alive stage show. Having spear-headed the scene since the early 90’s, Andy and his Ram Records label have been at the forefront of this UK dance explosion. His Alive show will see a unique audio / visual extravaganza closing the festival on Sunday. Joining these two prolific artists and rounding off our headliners is French techno don Vitalic, a man who has been decimating dance floors across the globe since the late 90s with his unique brand of electronic funk on labels such as International DJ Gigalo and PIAS.

Elsewhere on the line up we see a quality mixture of proper electronic music taking in the progressive from the sublime Robert Babicz, techno from German scene-leaders Marc Romboy and Extrawelt. Drum n Bass is represented by UK duo Drumsound and Bassline Smith whilst Rusko brings the Dubstep and Radio 1 DJ and Sheffield’s pin up Toddla T joins Don Letts for a dub, reggae and beyond set on Sunday.

The Glade Stage also represents live music with US sensation Pretty Lights performing alongside festival stalwarts The Dub Pistols and British hip-hop, grime and dubstep super group Foreign Beggars.

With plenty more talent performing and another exclusive headliner yet to be announced, expect nothing but the best, whatever the genre – all weekend.

PSYCHEDELIC VILLAGE

The Glade is proud to call itself the UK’s spiritual home of psychedelic culture and the Psychedelic Village is a celebration of this. With the mighty Origin Stage at the heart of this area playing host to Nano Records 10th Birthday Party and much more powered by glorious Funktion 1, this stage will be banging come rain or shine. This year we are more than chuffed to welcome back the Liquid Stage, which will run from dusk til dawn in our beautiful new forest area (more on that below…) and playing host to the cream of the UK scene. Providing respite from the onslaught of EDM no Glade would be complete without InSpiral who this year focus on chillout with a superb line up to make your journey complete.

This year we also welcome the team that built the incredible Ozora festival over the past seven years to join us. They will be helping with the décor and production throughout the Village and much more.

Elsewhere expect healing areas, a psychedelic cinema, World Shift, talks, art, food and so much more… Come and join us. This is going to be proper… it really is.

NEW WOODED AREA!

That’s right… we’ve got a lovely wooded area for you to play in this year! The wooded area will play host to two stages; the Liquid Stage and our new open-air dance floor The Meteor that lies in a crater inside the forest. More on that to follow in future announcements! Elsewhere expect hot tubs, spas and many more treats.

OTHER ARENAS ANNOUNCED

OVERKILL RETURNS!

The Overkill Arena returns to play, bringing with it the brashest, loudest drum & bass, gabba, dubstep, hardcore, rave, experimental …and beyond. Last year this venue played host to some of the most exciting and just plain bonkers names in electronica and 2012 will be no different… keep your eyes and ears open for future announcements.

BETA

Our new talent stage plays host to some of the most exciting new talent in the land. We’re keeping this one under wraps at present but think outdoor, pyramid, DJ… more to come.

BASSMENT

This year Bassment is hosted by South West crews Rinse Out, Beatz & Bobz and London’s favourite bass-heavy warriors Chew The Fat. With a line up of quality drum and bass, dubstep, bass and beyond laid on by these three prolific promoters, this will be THE place to pull your bass face.

THE RABBIT HOLE

One of the highlights of 2011, The Rabbit Hole played host to chaos all weekend long. Imagine a backstage bar where anything goes, for those festivalgoers who ventured down the hole this arena was THE party within the party. Running until dawn every night and featuring live music and DJs with very special secret performances, this is the place where anything goes.

AND THERE’S MORE…

Still not satisfied…? Well there’s a roller disco, spa, healing, a feast of food courts, art and not forgetting the burn! There are lots more nooks and crannies that will be confirmed soon, applications are still being accepted for performance and our Nano venues…
