Sigala, Kiko Bun and more added to Sundown Festival

Taking from all corners of pop, urban and dance music, Sundown Festival returns in 2016 with its biggest lineup yet. With huge names already announced including headliners Chase & Status and Jason Derulo, pop superstars Jess Glynne and Fleur East and grime godfathers Dizzee Rascal and Kano, even more names are joining the party!

Since toppling Bieber off of the top spot in the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart with his smash hit ‘Easy Love’, Norwich’s own Sigala has become one of the country’s most in demand DJs and producers. His current single, the Nile Rogers and John Newman collaboration ‘Give Me Your Love’, is a summery slice of tropical house and his set on the main stage is not to be missed. Also joining the main stage lineup are purveyor of sun-soaked, infectious reggae Kiko Bun, BRIT nominees Stooshe and chart-topping pop starlet Becky Hill.

With Sundown teaming up with Defected, Ministry Of Sound, UKF and Drum & Bass Arena this year to bring two dance-dedicated tents to the festival full of some of the biggest names in house, dnb, garage and more, those looking to party the weekend away need look no further. Joining the Defected In The House stage is Italian house master Crookers and over in the Drum & Bass Arena, Ram Records’ Culture Shock joins the already stacked lineup.

Expanding in 2016 to three stages for the first time, Sundown Festival is the essential closing party of the summer festival season for revelers looking for one last dance in the sun.

Bestival and Common People present: The World’s Biggest Bouncy-Castle!

The Bestival family has a long and august history of going that extra mile, making the world of festivals bigger, better and brighter. And this year is no exception, pushing the boundaries of bobbing up and down to the very limit, we’ve teamed up with our old muckers, Cardiff-based Something Creatives to make what we think is the world’s biggest bouncy castle! Aiming to add to our accolades for the world’s largest fancy dress party, the biggest busk ever and our colossal disco ball, this could well be the greatest inflatable on Earth, and it’s making its debut at Common People in Southampton this coming bank holiday weekend!

Rob da Bank says: “We do love breaking a record and this is one of our funnest builds so far. Me and my mate Matt from the infamous Inflatable Church had a pipe dream about five years ago of building the world’s biggest bouncy castle, and this summer we’re making that a reality. So polish your socks and step up for what will be one of the most innocent of pleasures – bouncing up and down with gay abandon with your mates, family or friendly strangers. See you on the castle!”

Something Creatives’ Matt the Hat commented: “I’ve always been the first kid in the sandpit and consider play a fundamental part of everyday life. Everyone should find the time to play. The playful spirit of creating joy and fun is shared by Rob da Bank and all of the Bestival family and has made this brilliantly bonkers idea a reality. Whether you’re young or old, what could be more fun than jumping around inside the biggest bouncy castle in the world?  Just watch out for the ‘bouncers’, and remember if you’re wearing shoes then you can’t come in!”

Everyone loves a bouncy castle. That’s a fact. And we’ve got even more facts about our blow up bastion that could see us heading for the record books once again. Smashing an almost 20-year-old record and measuring a frankly epic23.8 metres long and 20.7 metres wide our bouncy castle stands 12.8 metres tall at its highest point; the side turrets are equal in height to the walls of Cardiff Castle, making it taller than the Great Wall of China and roughly three times the size of the Berlin Wall! Filled with 1143 cubic metres of air it can comfortablyaccommodate 100 pleasure-seeking festivalgoers at one time.

Quite simply massive, it’s an inflatable legend in the making, don’t miss the chance to have a jump around on our historic bouncy castle at Common People, Southampton this 28th & 29th May, and then at Camp Bestival 28th-31stJuly and Bestival from 8th – 11th September.

Bouncy Castle Comparison:

                                                            Length          Width           Height

Word’s Biggest Bouncy Castle:          23.8m          20.7m          12.8m

Previous Record Holder:                    19m             19m             12m

Bloodstock beef up and prepare for battle!

There’s less than 100 days until BLOODSTOCK 2016!!  While we’ve been revealing many killer bands for you to mosh to all festival, there’s plenty more on-site to see and do besides watch the awesome bill (and for regulars, we don’t mean bin-jousting or Deli Kate)!  BLOODSTOCK knows the meaning of both heavy and metal…!

While you might be feeling a little weakened at times over the weekend (especially if you’ve been taking advantage of the real ales on site), BLOODSTOCK are delighted to welcome some of the strongest people in the world to the festival!  For the first time, BLOODSTOCK and the 100% CA team will host 2 special strongmen events. On Saturday, 20 top athletes from across Europe will compete for the title of ‘Europe’s Strongest Man Under 90kgs’. Then on Sunday, see what pure strength is all about, in the ‘BLOODSTOCK’s Strongest Man’ challenge, showcasing some of the biggest and strongest competitors handpicked from around the world.  Don’t worry, they’re not planning a face-off with festival attendees, but we wouldn’t recommend spilling their pint.

Over the 2 days, the athletes will complete 2 events in each title, including a max deadlift event, and we hope to see 400kgs pulled on Sunday!  Plus, an overhead log-press for reps, a loading medley consisting of 5 objects, 2 which weigh 19 stone!  Not to mention, a gruelling back-to-back tug of war. Joining us, will be World’s Strongest Man and Arnold’s competitor, the South of England’s Strongest Man Rob Frampton, and Dave Meer, the local Tamworth multi-record-breaking strongman who has competed in the UK’s Strongest Man numerous times.  With the support of XplosiveApe, USN, and Rebel Strength, we will be bringing you the best in the country!

If swords and armour are more your thing, don’t miss the ferocious BATTLE OF THE NATIONS UK historical fighting team, on site from Friday-Sunday!  BLOODSTOCK is thrilled – if slightly trepadacious – that they can lay waste to Catton Park again this August. The UK Federation regularly compete around the world, and are ranked among the very best.  Look out for their regular “demonstrations” (by which we mean, a no-holds-barred full-contact scrap with broad swords, maces, and an array of other brutal Medieval weaponry) in the main arena.  We wouldn’t recommend spilling their mead either.

Field Captain Rob ‘Moose’ Morris comments, “BLOODSTOCK is always the most popular event we host in the tournament calendar.  The unique atmosphere and amazing music always combine to a complete unreal experience.  Showing the music fans what being a real metal-head involves; wearing 16kg of armour and caning the hell out of your opponent in August!”  Wish them luck with their BLOODSTOCK warm up this month, taking on the Battle Of The Nations World Championships in both the classic 5v5 Bohurt and female fighter categories.

On the musical side, already announced for 2016 are our three headliners, TWISTED SISTER (in their last ever UK show), MASTODON and SLAYER, plus special guests BEHEMOTH, GOJIRA and ANTHRAX.  Also on the bill are FEAR FACTORY, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SYMPHONY X, SATYRICON, PARADISE LOST, DRAGONFORCE, METAL ALLEGIANCE, STUCK MOJO, ROTTING CHRIST, MISERY LOVES CO, GHOST BATH, VENOM, UNEARTH, DIAMOND HEAD, GOATWHORE, ACID REIGN and many, many more.  Additional bands are being announced regularly so keep up to date via BLOODSTOCK’s official sites at www.facebook.com/bloodstock and www.bloodstock.uk.com, or via Twitter on @BLOODSTOCKFEST.

Ministry of Sound announce M25 Festival

Celebrating 25 years at the heart of British club culture, Ministry of Sound announce a new all-day event M25 Festival, taking place at Trent Park in North London on Sunday 7th August 2016.

M25 Festival will reunite some of dance music's most legendary names with arenas hosted by A Night In Paradise in honour of Paradise Garage, and Shoom.

From 1977 – 1987, NYC music institution Paradise Garage nurtured house music from it's disco origins and launched the careers of seminal figures such as Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles and Nicky Siano. Alongside peers such as The Loft and Studio 54, Paradise Garage set the mould for club culture as we know it today and established dance music's enduring ethos of vibrant inclusivity.

As Paradise Garage closed it's doors for the last time in New York, London's Shoom was just getting started as a young Danny Rampling returned from Ibiza, bringing Balearic club culture to the UK. First opening it's doors in 1987, Shoom Club became a launching point for acid house, spearheading one of the UK's most recognisable social movements in recent history.

Representing the northern corner-stone of club culture, M25 Festival will host the Haçienda Classical for their only UK festival performance this season. With a forty-piece orchestra in tow, the Haçienda Classical will reinterpret classic club anthems, bringing a truly unique music offering to the show.

Two further acts revealed ahead of the full lineup announcement take the form of Eric Morillo, a vanguard of house music since the early 90s who relaunched his revered imprint Subliminal Records last year. Original house gangster, DJ Sneak is also confirmed. Famed for his playful, high-energy sets, Sneak's performance at M25 Festival is sure to prove a highlight of the day.

As the home for last year's inaugural 51st State Festival, the stunning surrounds of Trent Park in Cockfosters offers a gleaming gem of urban countryside, providing the perfect place for Ministry Of Sound's all-day celebration.

Taking place on a Sunday as a nod to early British rave culture, the North London location is situated a stone's throw from the M25 motorway, aiming to recapture the magic and integrity of the M25 rave scene and invite festivals goers from all generations to enjoy the free-spirited atmosphere and revelry on offer.

Amnesia Ibiza comes to SW4 in 2016

Bank Holiday Sunday 28th August will represents a landmark date in British electronic music history as one of the world’s greatest dance institutions, the seminal Amnesia Ibiza, arrives at a UK festival for the very first time.

Taking place on Clapham Common at South West Four 2016, Amnesia will take charge of the festival’s 10,000 capacity indoor arena. The arrival of one of the most important and defining clubs the world has ever seen, signifies one of the most important moments of this summer’s festival season.

“We’ve been waiting a VERY long time to bring the full Amnesia Ibiza experience to a UK festival and we’re very excited about making this a debut none of you will ever forget! We have a great affinity with London and are old friends with the team behind South West Four so it feels like the natural choice for us. We can’t wait to showcase many of our resident DJs and favourite artists at SW4, as well as all the trimmings you have come to expect from Amnesia. If we don’t see you on the White Isle we will see you in August!” Amnesia Ibiza

Ranked as one of the most popular clubbing destinations on the planet, the multi-award winning Ibizan superclub has been long established as a mecca of dance music with thousands making the pilgrimage to San Rafael every summer. Boasting an outstanding weekly programme of the greatest parties on the White Isle, coupled with incredible production, there really is no better place to experience electronic music quite like at Amnesia Ibiza.

After choosing South West Four for their UK festival debut, the dance music powerhouse will present the unique spirit of Ibiza by bringing the full Amnesia experience exclusively to Clapham Common. Everything from their iconic dancers and uncompromising Co2 cannons will be flown over to ensure that this is delivered in a way never before seen on British soil. To complete their inaugural takeover, a leading cast of extremely special guests have been invited to join us in celebrating this very special showcase. Ranging from legends of the main room to kings of the terrace, this group of esteemed Amnesia ambassadors guarantee to leave us with a catalogue of truly unforgettable memories in of the most important dates in London’s 2016 clubbing calendar.

Hailed as the ‘King of Amnesia’, there is no better man on earth fit to headline their first ever UK outdoor experience than Sven Vath. Having dominated both the main room and terrace through his remarkable Cocoon residency now in its seventeenth year, Mondays at the club have become synonymous with his treasured party. In the past SW4 has seen Sven perform at his very best and 2016 will be no different, as the wax-wielding wizard arrives for his exclusive London festival performance in hugely familiar surroundings.

In addition to Papa Sven we’re extremely excited to showcase the twisted techno alias of Eric Prydz aka Cirez D. Here Eric explores the darker end of the electronic spectrum by joining us as the stage’s very special guest. Last seen in the UK at SW4 in 2011, this will be Cirez D’s first appearance in London in half a decade, making this without doubt one of the most exciting bookings seen at a festival this year. 2016 will see the global icon’s techno-driven sounds shake Clapham Common to its very core as Cirez D looks set to write a new chapter in South West Four’s and Amnesia’s acclaimed history.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest bookings of our entire two-day Bank Holiday Weekender, two Ibizan stalwarts will go head-to-head for the first time ever in the UK. After witnessing the coming together of two of the underground’s most celebrated DJs last summer, we’re pleased to reveal that Jamie Jones vs Joseph Capriati will arrive at South West Four this summer in a full UK festival exclusive. Responsible for the greatest Ibizan highlight of 2015 at DC10, the demand to see Jamie and Joseph play back to back is phenomenal. Each at the very top of their game, this is simply unmissable.

Considered amongst the true greats of electronic music and ranked within its most influential characters, SW4 is honoured to welcome back Danny Tenaglia for his first performance at the festival in eight years and in another UK festival exclusive. This will form his first show on London soil in over a year, making his return all the more special. Danny’s relationship with Amnesia dates back over twenty years where his sets have become the stuff of legend and joins them in a hugely anticipated return to Clapham Common.

Having been heavily involved in Amnesia’s programming over the years and holding an outstanding residency at the club since 1999, Mar-T has become a firm fixture in making the White Isle’s #1 club what it is today. He will arrive for his SW4 debut alongside breakthrough Spanish talent Cuartero who also joins us for the first time following superb sessions at Amnesia throughout last season.

Laura Mvula is joined by two promising talents on July 10, Gallant and Jodie Abacus. Christopher Gallant has been labelled “the voice that will redefine R&B" by NME – high praise, backed up by his performances at Coachella and SXSW this year. South London musician Jodie Abacus has been busy recording his debut album with an impressive line-up of artists, producers and writers including Julio Bashmore, Tobias Jesso Jnr, Duke Dumont and Fred Gibson.

Claudia Kane’s vivid gothic electronica will fill the courtyard ahead of Caravan Palace’s pioneering electro-swing. Expect an intensely personal sonic cocktail that blends hard-hitting lyrical material influenced by Massive Attack, Bjork and Portishead.

On July 13, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Bill Ryder-Jones supports Courtney Barnett. Ryder-Jones is a remarkable musician and former member of the band The Coral. Recorded in his childhood bedroom, his third album West Kirby County Primary offers insight into his world by taking intimate stories and setting them to glorious molten melodies.

Other highlights include: beautiful vocal arrangements from young songstress JONES’, who has received acclaim from the likes of Jools Holland, Calvin Harris and Sam Smith; London-based five-piece band Pumarosa; the soulful stylings of Samm Henshaw and flamenco-infused Latin talent Gizmo Varillas whose disarming vocals and genre-hopping rhythms will take over the beautiful courtyard.

The festival will close with a unique, one-off performance from UNKLE: REDUX, as James Lavelle collaborates with Philip Sheppard and a number of special to guests to present a night to remember.
