Jungle and more set for Secret Garden Party 2015

Jungle, the celebrated London funk collective, and probably the hottest band in the UK right now, are set to join the Secret Garden Party 2015 line-up. Described by Time Out as a band who ‘make electronic music with a human heart, marry underground cool with main-stage appeal, and do it with vision and conviction,’ they released their self-titled debut album through XL Recordings in the summer to widespread acclaim.

Kate Tempest, who really needs no introduction, is officially added to the line-up this time round having busked at the Secret Garden Party a few years ago. Winner of the Ted Hughes Poetry Award for her narrative poem, ‘Brand New Ancients,’ she was also nominated for the Mercury Prize for her album ‘ Everybody Down.’  She will be performing her new poetry collection ‘Hold Your Own’ along with the current album.

French ensemble extraordinaire and long-time Garden Party favourites also join this first wave of bands. Renowned for their outstanding live shows Caravan Palace bring together elements of jazz, gypsy and dance music in a vibrant, upbeat and exhilarating fashion.

Rising stars Jack Garratt and Marika Hackman are also confirmed along with Flyte, Iyes, Jagaara, Elder Island and Menace Beach. New artists, who all possess excitingly unorthodox and distinctive styles.

Secret Garden Party announce 2015 theme and new website

The Secret Garden Party is very pleased to announce the launch of its new website today, illustrated by Dave Little www.secretgardenparty.com and its theme for 2015 which will be, ‘Childish Things.’

The Secret Garden Party has also been shortlisted for ‘Best Medium Festival’ and ‘Extra-Festival Activity’ awards at the forthcoming UK Festival Awards. It won Best Medium Festival’ at the UK’s Live Music Business Awards last month.

In addition, grant applications are now open for creative submissions and luxury camping is now on sale.

‘Childish Things’ theme…

Head Gardener, Fred Fellowes explains the thinking behind the ‘Childish Things’ theme for 2015……

‘Why are we encouraged so much to grow up and leave, what adults call, the best days of our lives? Not that we needed that much encouragement; we spent our time hurtling towards the 'next stage', determined to be bigger, more grown up, older, more mature and tall enough to take the ride. And what have we found? Certainly not all of the freedoms we thought we would.

"WHEN I WAS A CHILD, I SPOKE AS A CHILD, I UNDERSTOOD AS A CHILD, I THOUGHT AS A CHILD: BUT WHEN I BECAME A MAN, I PUT AWAY CHILDISH THINGS." Corinthians 13:11

Join us this summer as we’ve decided it's time to get those ‘Childish Things’ out of the box again and embrace them as this year’s theme. Escape the world that wants us to grow-up (and behave); and explore what we all left behind. Next July we will create for you a 100-acre toy box of a party, complete with jelly, ice cream and sprinkles, so you can release and realise your inner child. Remember youth is wasted on the young; so here’s your second shot at it.’

Secret Garden Party announce Art & Expression Theme for 2014

As the warmth of a wonderful summer begins to fade and the afterglow of the Secret Garden Party 2013 is still a visceral memory, we offer you this: a missive of joy, musical memories and hope for the future because……The Secret Garden Party is pleased to announce its Art & Expression Theme for 2014 will be…

 "Goodbye Yellowbrick Road"

Sickened by commercial gigolos and the false promise of fame and Fortune achievable only through wearing the right deodorant? Well then, join us in saying "Goodbye (to the) Yellow Brick Road" and its promise of (social/financial) redemption. Within the shelter of the Garden, where the dogs of society's howl is inaudible, we are exploring the more positive visual imagery in our favourite songs – so dust off your old LPs say an oh my and a boo hoo to the 9 to 5…   Dance with us beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free; because, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

New official video…..

As a reminder of last summer here is the wonderful brand new official video – hot from the editing room  – by our friends at Ju Ju Films. Relive those magical moments and come dance with us again next summer.

First artist announced…..

1930s rave culture? Oh yes, long long before Spiral Tribe (or even Wigan Pier) there were all-nighters that were 'threatening to the very fabric of society'. But these were not taking place in a field somewhere in Hampshire nor on a draughty ballroom over the North Sea; rather they were in the music halls of the Weimar Republic. Suppressed by society, criminalised by the Nazis, yet beloved by the Bright Young Things, the music and style of this time has been painstakingly researched and recreated by Max Raabe & The Palast Orchester.

And after chasing them for almost two years we are proud to announce that they will be bringing you this most original of counter-culture music:

Whether it is producing an art installation, running an action camp, curating a parade, building an art boat or a tree house, devising a fire show, hosting a workshop, making an art car  …we want to hear from you and help your wildest dreams come true.

Our number one rule is that the party must facilitate participation. To ensure that this principle is upheld, Secret Garden Party gives over half of all programming money back to the gardeners, in the form of arts and expression grants.

Tauron Nowa Muzyka has also revealed a host of alternative excursions for festival-goers to take advantage of as well as exhibitions and an incredible one-off sound installation set up by Red Bull Music Academy that will premiere at the Closing Down Concert on Sunday 25th August. Running from 22nd-25th August, Tauron Nowa Muzyka is an unmissable experience for electronic music fans everywhere with one of the most pioneering electronic music line-ups on the festival calendar. Limited one-day, two-day and three-day tickets and travel packages are available now from the Tauron Nowa Muzyka website starting from an incredible £30.

Voted the ‘Best Small Festival’ at the European Festival Awards 2012, Tauron Nowa Muzyka is getting ready for another amazing year as the festival rapidly approaches. With an already mind-blowing calibre of leading electronic artists on the line-up, the Polish festival still has a few surprises left up its sleeve as it reveals three exciting excursions, designed to give revelers the opportunity to explore the culture and history of Katowice and the surrounding area. Trips run during the day on Friday and Saturday and include an insight into life of 19th and 20th century coal miners in the eerie 320 meter deep GUIDO coal mine in Zabrze, a guided journey around Katowice on the city's special melex electric carts, and a trip to the Tyskie and Civic Brewery's for a taste of beer history and production, with a well deserved pint at the end of the tour. Excursions are affordable and start at just 10 Euros. For further information and tickets head here.

Tauron Nowa Muzyka will display an incredible series of exhibitions and design projects curated by European creatives. Premiering over the weekend will be KOD/Y, the collaborative photography project by photographer Pawel Fabianski, graphic designer Michael Okraj and modern artist Natalia Mleczak, looking at symbols and the human form. Julia Dauksza challenges perceptions of art with the Grey Motors exhibition, displaying her vivid and unfinished paintings, and elsewhere the Design Silesia Cafe, specially built for Tauron Nowa Muzyka, will centre around the world of modern design with talks, book meetings and movie screenings. There will also be a screening of a 48 hour film project, which will see film makers writing, shooting, editing and scoring an original movie in just two days.

As well as hosting a stage at Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Red Bull Music Academy is collaborating with two local Silesian musicians and producers to create a unique and one off sound installation that will focus on the Upper Silesian Region. Exploring music concrete by taking recordings from the region, the project is an hour long musical picture of Silesian culture and premieres at the Katowice Evangelical Church, on the final evening of the festival.

Tauron Nowa Muzyka now heads back to the impressive Dolina Trzech Stawow as government funded construction on the proposed 2013 coal mine site continues. Determined not to let this spoil the amazing experience and line-up that Tauron Nowa Muzyka has in store, organisers are hosting the festival at last year's site. A handy ten minutes down the road, Dolina Trzech Stawow is a huge park boasting three lakes and its very own beach.
