Download Festival 2021 announce headliners and more

Download Festival, the world’s premier rock event, has announced KISSBIFFY CLYRO and SYSTEM OF A DOWN as its 2021 headliners, plus many more of the world’s most exciting bands in rock, punk, hardcore and metal including Deftones, KORNSteel Panther and The Distillers will return for Download 2021, with even more yet to be announced. The three-day festival takes place on 4-6 June 2021 at the spiritual home of rock in Donington Park, Leicestershire. Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday 7 August via downloadfestival.co.uk/tickets.

After an epic and well documented 45-year career that launched an era of rock’n’roll, the legendary KISS will perform in the UK at Download Festival 2021, in a UK Exclusive. They embarked on their final ever tour in 2019 under the appropriately named END OF THE ROADand known for their trademark larger-than-life blistering performances, KISS have proven for decades why they are hands down the most iconic live show in rock’n’roll, and one of the best headliners Donington has ever seen. With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, 2020 was due to be their final ever Download appearance, but due to COVID-19 they’ll be bringing their spellbinding show to the hallowed grounds in 2021 instead.

Also headlining Download Festival 2020 will be SYSTEM OF A DOWN, also in a UK Exclusive. With just five studio albums, the Californian/Armenian band have earned themselves a worldwide following, never failing to put on a mind-blowing performance.

System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian says: “We’re disappointed we weren’t able to make it over this year, but we’re looking forward to next.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder.  Mostly, we all just want to make sure everyone is provided with a safe and secure environment, so we were prepared to wait as long as we needed to.”

Returning to Donington after their fantastic headline set in 2017 are Scottish rock titans Biffy Clyro, who will headline the festival once again in 2021. With the band set to release their ninth studio album, A Celebration Of Endings, this month, the trio will be keen to show off new tracks as well as some of their most well-known hits, including ‘The Captain’, ‘Mountains’ and ‘Many Of Horror’.

In addition to the brilliant acts who have continued over from 2020, Download are delighted to announce several new additions to the line up, along with Biffy Clyro, including the mighty Steel Panther, pop punk kings A Day To Remember, the mysterious Creeper, who have recently returned from hiatus, punk legends Rise Against, internet sensation Poppy, and many more.

Returning to Donington in 2021 are Deftones. Since their inception, the multi-platinum, Grammy-Winning alternative rock band from Sacramento have released seven albums and sold over 10 million albums worldwide which include fan-favourite tracks ‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’, ‘Change (House Of Flies)’, and ‘Swerve City’.

Biffy Clyro said: “We can’t wait to return to headline Download in 2021! It’s a highlight of the festival calendar and a big part of our history as a band. Headlining in 2017 was special and now it’s time to celebrate again! Fuck on!”

With 13 albums behind them already, KORN will be back too. The two-time Grammy Award winning band have toured the world countless times and have continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans and generations of artists around the globe.

Also returning are the one and only The Darkness, LA punk rockers The Distillers, Hollywood favourites Black Veil Brides, Scottish pirate metallers Alestorm, Maryland death metallers Dying Fetus, metalcore heroes Killswitch Engage, Brazilian heavy metallers Sepultura, Welsh icons Funeral For A Friend in their last ever festival appearance, and many more.

The much anticipated launch online event comes from firm Terminal V favourite Patrick Topping, who has a long standing relationship with the city, and the party. His set from the top of the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site Calton Hill overlooking the city, which is one of Edinburgh’s most visited tourist attractions, with the city’s stunning skyline in the backdrop as well as views looking on to Edinburgh Castle, Forth Road Bridge, The Scottish Parliament Building and much more, will be broadcast on Saturday August 8th at 8pm – the same day he was due to make his Scottish Trick debut for a huge 5000 capacity Terminal V all-nighter event that has now been rescheduled to the end of the year.

Terminal V’s exciting new concept TERMINAL V CONNECT is a mixture of cutting edge, exciting platforms, ranging from stunning locations, home streams, XR augmented reality streams pushing new high-end XR technology and next level production featuring the very best international acts brought to audiences in a virtual and vital way. It is the sort of high class, high impact offering that Terminal V have become known for in recent years since their inception in 2017, with their huge festivals and raves always selling out a setting a new standard for electronic music events in Scotland. This launch also follows numerous hugely popular Terminal V Lockdown streams with the likes of Maceo Plex, Kink, Luigi Madonna and Rebuke who have all kept people dancing in the safety of their own homes whilst raising funds for charity.

The first TERMINAL V CONNECT event is a special one with global tastemaker Topping headlining from the iconic Calton Hill, Edinburgh. Calton Hill is the location of several iconic monuments and buildings such as the National Monument, the Nelson Monument and the Robert Burns Monument as well as the City Observatory. It all unfolded in blazing heat and the full two hours will be broadcast to the world via Beatport, Terminal V and Patrick Toppings social channels on Saturday August 8th.

Patrick went to Uni in Edinburgh so has lots of history with the city and Terminal V events. He had a capacity full stage at Terminal V festival Easter 2019 and later this year arrives in Edinburgh for his special Trick all-nighter. It was originally scheduled in August this year before the pandemic hit but has now moved to Dec 19th and is set to be a spectacular affair with a giant line up that will keep you dancing from dusk till dawn with Floorplan, Mella Dee, Cynthia, Elliott Adamson, Ewan McVicar and Reinier Zonneveld.

Just one month after releasing its game changing new technology, VirtualDJ announces today a new version that significantly improves upon the quality of its real-time track separation technology.

In today’s update, VirtualDJ significantly improves the sound quality of the separated stems. It also gives additional control to the DJs to adjust in real-time a bleeding parameter, and to fine-tune even more the quality of each track.

VirtualDJ is the only pro DJ software that allows DJs to access in real-time, on any computer, separated acapella, instruments or beats of any track. This new technology has been described as a game changer, and has long been the holy grail for professional DJs.

Stephane Clavel, CEO of VirtualDJ, said:

“The release of this new technology last month has really put us in the spotlight, and we saw an incredible number of customers switching over from competitors. That gave all the team a boost of energy and pride, and got us to work double-time to improve on this already amazing feature. And we’re not going to stop there. We all see that what we’re doing here is really impacting the DJing world, and it’s an immensely satisfying feeling. “

VirtualDJ is the most popular DJ software, with over 150 million downloads, and is sold in more than 180 countries. It is used from superstar DJs to curious music enthusiasts all around the world, and has been helping to make DJing better and more accessible for over 20 years.

It is free for non-commercial use, and can be downloaded on www.virtualdj.com

Latitude announce Bastille, Lewis Capaldi & Snow Patrol for 2021

Today marks what should have been the start of a glorious Latitude 2020.This summer may not be as expected, but festival fans can rejoice as the multi-award-winning festival will return to the picturesque grounds of Henham Park, Suffolk, on 22nd-25th July 2021 with headliners Lewis CapaldiBastille and special guests Snow Patrol topping a diverse bill where music meets the arts in a full on cultural explosion.Weekend and day tickets are on sale on Monday 20th July at 9am here.  Things have been a little quiet this year. It’s been tough without the music, without the laughs, without the wonder. So Latitude is getting ready to make 2021 the best year yet!  Festival organisers are thrilled to announce a refreshed programme and emboldened vision retaining everything you loved about Latitude and much more.

Double BRIT Award winner Lewis Capaldi makes his Latitude debut as one of the UK’s biggest music success stories. In just one year after its release in May of 2019,  Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was certified triple platinum in the UK and has spent a whopping 60 weeks in the Top Ten. The album spawned such singles as Grace, Hold Me While You Wait, and Someone You Loved, which topped the charts in the US and the UK. It also earned Capaldi accolades on both sides of the Atlantic, including two BRIT awards and a Grammy nomination. A festival superstar, his live performances are legendary and, with the possible premiere of brand new material from his highly anticipated second album, this is going to be unmissable!!

Brit Award winners Bastille also make their Latitude debut as headliners. The cinematic performance will see the band perform a selection of songs from their three UK Top 10 studio albums Bad Blood, Wild World and Doom Days and material from their eagerly anticipated fourth album. Pioneers of hook-heavy hits such as Pompeii, Marshmello collaboration Happier, and Quarter Past Midnight, the four-piece continue to cement their reputation as one of the world’s most captivating live bands renowned for their cutting edge multi-sensory shows.

Snow Patrol  make a momentous return to the Latitude in the coveted Sunday afternoon slot. The band who headlined the inaugural Latitude back in 2006,  were forced to cancel their slot at Latitude in 2019 due to illness.  2021 will see the band perform back on The Obelisk Stage. This momentous performance will celebrate 25 years in the business. Expect festival-sized anthems with hits such as Crack The Shutters, Run, and Chasing Cars.
