Field Day, London’s most ambitious and forward-thinking festival, is pleased to announce more names on the burgeoning line up, which already includes the likes of Animal Collective, Bat For Lashes, Kurt Vile, Disclosure, Mulatu Astatke, Seth Troxler and many more. Freshly confirmed for 2013 is King Krule, who, previously known as Zoo Kid, is already being feted as one of the best and brightest of 2013. He brings his bleak but beautiful tales of discontent; guitar-led dub lullabies, swathed in his distinctive sneering vocals to Field Day, think Leonard Cohen, Billy Bragg and Burial meets Django Reinhardt!

Also on board are firm favourites of The Quietus, 5-piece band TOY who surf the cosmic channels of krautrock, cruising along on motoric beats, waving at pals The Horrors and tipping their hats to Syd Barrett as they chug through hypnotic, psychedelic pop songs.

Known for celebrating the return to everything that’s good about loud, ecstatic live music, are the Canadian band Metz, who give nods to the likes of Nation of Ulysses, Shellac, The Pixies, The Jesus Lizard, and Public Image Ltd.

They will be playing alongside Stealing Sheep, known for their noisily drenched voodoo-pop, in the hazy shape of psychedelic folktronica from their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Into The Diamond Sun’; expect medieval synths, hypnotic beats, spiraling whammy guitars, mystical harmonies and apocalyptic thunder drones.

Also confirmed is Bollywood musician Charanjit Singh, who’s rediscovered 1982 album Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat caused a massive stir in the world of dance and electronic music a couple of years ago, sounding just like acid house although it was recorded in Bombay three years before the first Chicago and Detroit releases. Inspired by the sound of disco imported from the west, he recorded ancient Indian ragas using Roland drum machines, sequencers and synthesisers – all set to a 'disco' beat. In November 2012 – at the age of 72 – Charanjit toured Europe for the first time with the original Roland gear to ecstatic audiences. His performances both stunned and amazed, and we can’t wait to have him at Field Day and see him make people dance like maniacs!

Rising producer Daniel Avery, curator and creator of some of the most inventive and forward thinking electronic sounds today, will be playing live alongside East India Youth, the 22-year old multi-instrumentalist William Doyle, who creates absolutely astounding music, an original mixture of dark Detroit techno, lo-fi psychedelic noise rock, deeply romantic Pet Shop Boys-esque synth pop and ramshackle avant-electronica. Meanwhile, London based Lee Gamble will use his background in experimental computer music to create exquisite deconstructions of jungle and techno.

Eat Your Own Ears favourites Dark Bells will spin a beguiling web of haunting yet melodic sounds built on the bricks of post-punk with the atmosphere of an act you might have found on 4AD in 1983; while the Australian Mt Warning will play their first ever UK show and festival, as they delicer a hazy dose of pop splendor that is reminiscent of The National, Local Natives and Broken Bells.

Also at Field Day this year are Guards, who pull from the shimmer and shine of '70's power pop groups, the big guitar choruses of Grunge, some psych rock, the straight ahead drive of '60's rock and soul, and a little bit of early '80's New Wave. Alongside them will be Gabriel Bruce who were recently described by fellow Field Day'ers Palma Violets as "one of the best performers out there at the moment, this is one of the best pop tracks that I've heard in donkey's years".

We are excited to announce that Bleep will be partnering with the BleeD/Lanzarote stage to showcase ‘The Green Series’ at Field Day, featuring the already announced producer-duo Karenn (Blawan and Pariah) alongside Berlin producer Objekt, who will take the audience on his adventures in machine music, built to make subs rattle and feet wiggle; a convoluted mess of elektrology and teknology, 3-step, bass-core, post windmill, proto-minimal wankstep, gondola, shithouse, acid wonk, ambient gabber…

We are also very happy to welcome the Red Bull Music Academy back this year, who will be hosting a stage at Field Day. Joining previously announced Amateur Best and Egyptian Hip Hop, are the freshest and hottest new acts of the electronic music world.

With Field Day following hot on the heels of this year’s Academy in New York, three artists, fresh from their stint there, join the RBMA stage at Field Day for their first post-graduation outings, namely: auteur of experimental pop tapestries Rudi Zygadlo, the soulfully serene 2-stepper Koreless and cross-genre bass wunderkind Throwing Snow.

The track is a mash up of Throwing Snow's Lingerwell and Prince's When Doves Cry, the brainchild of Throwing Snow's brother (soundcloud.com/tonesmusic) who had the idea after the tracks came into his head en route to the show from Bristol and immediately texted Throwing Snow who tried it out on the night.

Known for their entrancing vocals and kraut experimentation, the adventurous Sydney based Jagwar Ma merge guitar rock with club music and will be playing new tracks of their highly anticipated debut album out in May.

New electrofunk wunderkind Bobby Tank, who makes music that sounds like a mosaic of every great electronic dance style of the past 30 years, fusing dubstep, drum’n bass, glossy soul and high tech funk, will play alongside rising producer and musician Kwes, known for his collaborations with The xx, Hot Chip, Leftfield and DELS, and who will play his critically acclaimed avant-pop at Field Day 2013.

Rainy Milo will bring the chilly atmospherics of her beautiful EP ‘Limey’, which takes us through her wise-beyond-years literate world, skipping jazzy vocal lines over OFWGKTA-esque beats and features collaborations with the likes of Chet Faker and Ariel Pink producer Cole MGN; the centre of it all belonging to Milo’s startling voice. While Duologue will immerse listeners into a hauntingly atmospheric world, combining soaring strings and guitar melodies with electronic glitches in a contrasting way that will leave the audience rapt, alongside Leed’s finest export Happa.

Also playing the Red Bull Music Academy stage will be newcomer DJ J Marinetti. His first release ‘Dive’ beckons and entices with its perpetual beat and rich sumptuous vocals and was handpicked by Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich for his first show supporting Atoms for Peace. We’re sure this is the start of something big for Marinetti.

The brilliant website Caught By The River, home to excellent writing by first class contributors on music, nature, ale and…fishing, has carved itself a unique place on the web since its beginnings in 2007 and will be hosting a fine area at Field Day 2013. We are really excited to announce showcases on the very best in spoken word, field recordings, readings and inspirational discussion by an eclectic mix of excellent contributors, including sound recordist Chris Watson, Irish author Peter Murphy, Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanley, the British Library’s Wildlife Sounds curator Cheryl Tipp and many more.

On the new aditions, Eat Your Own Ears’ promoter Tom Baker says: “I’m truly excited by these new additions to the Field Day line up: everything from King Krule (what a massive, massive talent – and so young!), to the pop sounds of Jagwar Ma, prolific producer Kwes, the hugely influencial 72 year old Bollywood musician Charanjit Singh to the hypnotic and psychedelic pop of TOY…”

Entering its seventh year, Field Day will be returning to the leafy green surroundings of Victoria Park with its unique formula of pioneering line-up coupled with village fete mentality, all in the heart of East London. Field Day will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 25th May.

Hosted by forward-thinking promoters Eat Your Own Ears, Bugged Out!, BleeD/ Lanzarote and proudly partnering with The i Paper, The Quietus, FACT Magazine, Last FM, Resident Advisor, The Line of Best Fit, Abeano and Dummy Magazine, Field Day is a festival that has become synonymous with imaginative and progressive bills hosting the likes of Franz Ferdinand, SBTRKT, Afrocubism, Grimes and Django Django last summer; 2013 is certainly shaping up to be no exception to this rule.

As with years gone by, Field Day will be providing ample entertainment for those looking for respite from the music in the Village Mentality area on The Village Green. Expect traditional side stalls inspired by country pastimes and weird and wonderful fete games, from classic tug of war, sack races and egg and spoon race to more unexpected and fantastic ones like tea bag tossing and the world famous winkle picking contest.

 

Jessie Ware to headline Lounge on the Farm

The next wave of exciting acts has today been announced for Lounge on the Farm Festival, taking place on 26th-28th July at Merton Farm in Kent.

Leading the way is pop-songstress Jessie Ware, who will join main stage headlinersSeasick Steve and Soul II Soul at the top of the bill. Expect ethereal, sultry vocals and her own brand of down-tempo elecronica, as South London’s finest export treats festival-goers to a headline performance to remember.

London indie-ska boys, Man Like Me, will also be ditching London for the fresh Canterbury air and will join Jessie on the burgeoning bill. Grit-glam boys Tribes, are also confirmedalong with rising hip-hop star, Willy Moon, Kent based Broken Hands and the hotly tipped Blaenavon.

Over on the ‘FarmFolk’ stage, things are just as exciting with the arrival of Ethan Johns, headlining Saturday night. Known for his work producing Kings of Leon, Tom Jones, Laura Marling, don’t miss the chance to see this musical troubadour in action. Singer-songwriterDuke Special and Farewell JR will also take to the ‘FarmFolk’ stage.

Elsewhere on the bill, Lounge on the Farm favourites Scratch Perverts – DJs Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One have also been confirmed. Expect a roof-raising, fist-pumping set as the break-beat legends give it some serious welly.

Over on The Farmhouse Lounge on the Farm are really mixing it up with Hidden Orchestra. This quartet from Edinburgh make music that incorporates and redefines elements of jazz, classical, rock, hip hop and electronic to form a deeply original and cohesive whole. Prepare to be amazed!

Fatboy Slim confirmed to headline Jersey Live Festival

This year’s first Main Stage headliner can now be revealed as the legendary dance producer Fatboy Slim, who will top the Main Stage bill on Saturday 31st August.

Tatton Park announce The Human League, Katherine Jenkins and more

Tatton Park today announced the spectacular headliners for their Picnic Concerts 2013. Synth pop international superstars The Human League, plus special guests, will be performing in the stunning grounds of the park on Saturday 20 July and Britain’s most famous mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra will be performing on Sunday 21 July. The Human League, one of the most influential groups from the 1980s will be joined by special guests for an astounding evening of much loved electro classics. The electronic New Wave band from Sheffield shot to fame in the early 80’s with Don't You Want Me which was a No. 1 hit in the UK, US and many other countries. Over the years they have been cited as an influence by a host of superstars from Madonna to Moby and the Pet Shop Boys to Lady GaGa. Off the back of their sold out tour at the end of last year this show will feature a selection of all their well-known hits such as The Lebanon, Mirror Man, Open Your Heart and Fascination. The concert will conclude with an amazing fireworks display across the backdrop of Tatton Park.

Katherine Jenkins is one of Britain’s favourite singers and has introduced to the world a new genre of classical superstar, selling millions of albums across the globe. Katherine will be performing a selection of much-loved Last Night classics such as Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. In addition, the concert will feature some of her favourite pieces including Les Filles de Cadiz, Someone To Watch Over Me and I Could Have Danced All Night. This fantastic finale to the weekend comes complete with the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anthony Inglis and culminates with a stunning fireworks display.

Kendal Calling Festival announce a wapping 85 new acts

Kendal Calling is proud to announce legendary and controversial American Hip-Hop group Public Enemy will be touching down in the fields for a rare UK festival appearance. With Chuck D’s forcefully enlightening rhymes, and the chaotic, comic of Flavor Flav’s cuts (not to mention his oversized clocks!) this is simply not to be missed.

 Also flying the flag for the US in the festivals latest line-up additions is Steven Gene Wold, commonly known as Seasick Steve. Born in Oakland, California and now in his seventies, Steve has been singing the blues and playing guitar since the age of eight. Steve began playing music for a living in the early 1960s, in bands and as a solo musician, but it was not until he played on Later… with Jools Holland on New Year’s Eve in 2006 that he made his breakthrough in the UK.
 
Johnny Marr formed The Smiths in 1982 when he was just 18 and they went onto become one of the most important bands in the history of music and Johnny Marr one of the greatest guitarists the UK has ever produced. Post The Smiths, Marr has spent his time playing guitar in a succession of great acts such as The Pretenders, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribsbringing a shimmering majesty to their recordings and live shows and finally released his debut solo album The Messenger which has been met with huge critical acclaim.
 
The D.O.T is a collaboration between Mike Skinner (The Streets) and Rob Harvey (the Music), the relationship was formed when Mike and Rob’s former bands would cross paths on the touring circuit and solidified when Mike asked Rob to accompany him on the final Streets tour. Mike and Rob soon then put in some studio time and revealed in the freedom to make music for it’s own sake. With no need to conform to a specific style, or satisfy a record label’s scheduling demands, there gradually evolved the sound you hear now in their second album Diary (out 6th May). As well as The D.O.T set the critically acclaimed urban poet laureate and The Streets frontman Mike Skinner returns to the fields for a very special DJ set in the Glow Dance Tent.
 
The Woodland area returns for it’s second year but this time round it will feature the cream of the regional crop with rising stars from Morecambe The Heartbreaks, Preston’s Techniques, Kendal band The Feud, Lake District starlet Fiona Clayton plus many more of the regions hidden gems to discover.
 
More acts across all 12 stages are to be announced as well as attractions, the Real Ale Festival, Comedy, spoken word & arts, Ladybird children’s area and much more over the next few months – all for only £115!

South West Four is delighted to confirm the addition of Afrojack to our 10th Anniversary lineup. Debuting on Clapham Common on Saturday 24th August, the Dutch phenomenon’s skills are some of the most sought after in the world. He has worked alongside Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga and David Guetta, whilst his own tracks each amass millions of views on YouTube. With all this success it has allowed him to form his own imprint ‘Wall Recordings’ giving him a platform to release his own material and provide a stepping stone to upcoming artists. Our advice to you? Take this rare chance to catch Afrojack perform in the capital, his first since last summer and his only London festival performance of 2013.

With a career spanning three decades and showing no signs of slowing down, Paul Oakenfold is the elite statesman of British electronic music. From residencies in Las Vegas to jaw dropping spectacles on each and every continent, Oakie’s colossal fanbase travel the world to catch one of his sets. Luckily for you, we have him back at South West Four for the first time since his emotional homecoming back in 2010. Never afraid of pushing boundaries, Paul has enjoyed countless standout moments during his incredible career including help shape the infamous ‘Madchester’ scene of the late 80s, produce an album for U2 and pioneer the explosion of dance music in America. At one point Paul even lived in Clapham, making his return to South West Four for our 10th Anniversary more significant than ever.

Mark Knight makes a welcome return to South West Four in 2013. This will be his fourth performance at SW4 in the past five years in fact, with the Toolroom Records governor and Grammy nominated producer one of the first names on our 10th Anniversary hit list. In 2010 Mark hosted a Toolroom Knights stage at SW4, whilst in 2009 and 2012 he drew massive crowds to the main stage. In 2013 Mark returns to one of our indoor arenas to present some of the finest names in house music. As a DJ Mark constantly sets the pace and is recognised worldwide for his long standing residencies at cherished haunts such as Space Ibiza and Ministry of Sound. A key fixture at the festival in recent years we are delighted to welcome Mark back to South West Four.

Orjan Nilsen is a Norwegian DJ and producer who grew up well north of the polar circle, far away from most things. His cultured productions however would suggest he grew up somewhere with a far more accessible music scene. The talented young Scandinavian shot to the worlds attention in 2011 when he stormed into the DJ Mag top 100 chart at #49 and a IDMA nomination for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ soon followed. Since then has gone on to gain support from SW4 favourites Gareth Emery and Armin van Buuren, with the aptly named ‘Belter’ a collaboration with the latter. Known for his flawless ability to bring life to any dance floor, we welcome him to South West Four for the first time in 2013 as he plays to the biggest dance floor of them all.

Hailing from deepest, darkest Cologne, Roman Boer has been making deep and tech house for the best part of fifteen years. Better known by his stage name Tocadisco, the German maestro has remixed over one hundred artists including Laidback Luke, Steve Aoki, Moby and Tiga to name a few. You would have unquestionably heard Tocadisco’s music featured on TV ads, whilst his radio show is broadcasted to over fifty countries. His own imprint TOCA45, showcases the freshest sounding club tracks available today and with this appearance being his only London festival show this year, make sure you get to his tent with plenty of time to spare.

Here at SW4 HQ we have had our feathers ruffled by the fact that Groove Armada are at long last making their South West Four debut. Marking this as their first London festival performance outside of Lovebox in over a decade, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay are the Cambridge-come-London brigade who have certainly seen it and done it all over the last eighteen years. In that time they have managed to run club nights, conceptualise festivals and not to mention release eight studio albums. Those LPs  have been jam-packed full of bonafide hits, like the Grammy nominated ‘Superstylin’, which was shortlisted on Mixmag’s ‘Greatest Dance Track of All Time’ poll, to the harmoniously utopian ‘At the River’ which comprehensively appears on every chill out compilation known to man. File this appearance under ‘for the history books’…

Groove Armada`

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED if you feel the need to abbreviate) is one of the most fascinating, over-the-top British talents to emerge in recent years. Having released an EP through Greco-Roman (partially run by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip / The 2 Bears), TEED subsequently got picked up by label giant Polydor to release his first full length album ‘Trouble’ last summer. Orlando Higginbottom, as he is known to his nearest and dearest, is an artist who’s always on point in the studio, with productions that fluctuate between jungle rhythms and dance floor anthems with pop sensibilities. His unique style has perked up the ears of club goers and producing peers alike, so join us at South West Four for his spectacular live show. Expect glitter, dancers, extravagant head-wear and of course, dinosaurs.

Pete Tong: the world’s undisputed ambassador for electronic music. It’s quite a title, but one that is whole heartily deserved. Having been broadcasting on BBC Radio 1 since 1991, he has become widely acclaimed across the world as the tastemaker for dance music. Pete fell in love with a fresh new sound coming out of USA in the late 80’s and blazed a trail championing the sound. Fast-forward 20 plus years and things have come full circle, with nothing more relevant right now than electronic music – and Pete's position as anchor for brand new USA radio station Evolution, with a show that's broadcast daily across the country is testament to that. Pete has an astounding flair to break new talent; he’s helped kick start the careers of hundreds of artists, giving them the infamous ‘Pete Tong Push’. Now in 2013, with a brand new high profile Ibizan residency soon to be announced, regular trips to the states for high profile gigs, and a global touring schedule to make your eyes water, not to mention single, remix and compilation releases abound, Pete has never been more important. A real favourite at the festival, we welcome him back to South West Four for another essential performance!

The 2 Bears comprises of Joe Goddard, one fifth of the inimitable Hot Chip and Raf Rundell, a man who has played an integral role in running London’s clubbing scene for many years. Formed in 2009, the pair shared a musical vision and decided the next logical step was to start producing tracks together. Their debut album ‘Be Strong’ came out last year on Southern Fried Records, a hugely enjoyable homage to UK garage and Detroit flavours and filled to the brim with playful melodies and love-able lyrics. With Joe back on Hot Chip duties last summer, this year marks the bears coming out of hibernation, with Clapham Common the only woods you’ll find them in London this August.

London based producers Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman are the eclectic pairing known as Dusky. The duo already have a long list of accolades to their name including their 2011 LP ‘Stick By This’ being named Pete Tongs album of the year and ‘Flo Jam’ being given the crown of iTunes Dance Single of the Year. Last year they remixed Justin Martin’s seemingly untouchable ‘Don’t Go’ and put out a buffed out version that sent blogs and forums into chaos. Needless to say it was hands down the soundtrack of the winter. With their latest offering ‘Nobody Else’ out now on Will Saul’s AUS imprint shaping up to be just as much of a hit, the future sound of London seems safe in Dusky’s more than capable hands.

Love Saves Sunday announce Nile Rodgers and Chic as headliners

It’s got to be the perfect Sunday headliner booking. The phrase ‘Good Times’ kinda belongs to CHIC, and there’s nothing you can say about Nile Rodgers that hasn't already been heard by billions of people, in thousands of cities, in hundreds of countries. The career of Nile Rodgers is one of the most enduring and prolific in music. Nile's signature is scrawled across an amazing array of music – from Madonna to Diana Ross, from David Bowie to Eric Clapton, and his influence with emerging artists is as strong today as it’s ever been. But CHIC has always been Nile’s spiritual home. If you haven’t seen CHIC live, you need to.  Who can fail to lose it to “Le Freak”, “I Want Your Love”, “Everybody Dance”, “Dance, Dance, Dance”, “My Forbidden Lover”, and "Good Times”?

We are excited to announce that Rita Ora and Chase and Status have been confirmed as very special guests to appear at KISSbeach 2013.  Rita Ora will join Dizzee Rascal, Katy B, Lawson, Conor Maynard and K Koke on Saturday 29 June whilst Chase and Status joins Tinie Tempah, Rizzle Kicks, Rudimetal, Iggy Azalea and Angel on Sunday 30 June. Many more artists are still to be announced in the coming weeks.
