The mighty Filth on Acid kicks on with label head Reinier Zonneveld joining forces with Kiki Solvej to release their very first EP together, “Keine Liebe, Kein Rave”! It features two new tracks to blow up your next party.
Kiki Solvej is a German DJ, producer and vocalist with a lifelong connection to music. She has performed on mega stages like Tomorrowland and debuted on this label late last year. Reinier Zonneveld is on a fine run of form having revitalised hard techno and acid over the last couple of years with his faithless label, DJ sets and unique live shows.
Says Kiki:
‘Keine Liebe, Kein Rave’ is about the love you feel, when you are – let’s say it like this (laughs) a ‘real raver’. Without true emotions there is no real rave. And this is always something that Reinier and I have in common so much. Our love for each other, our love for the music, the scene, the rave. This is why we’re here.
Says Reinier:
What we tried to pack into this so special track is what being at a rave is giving us: feeling the extreme, the lightness, the powerful, the hedonism (in a good way), the realness and most of all the connection to other people. Having the connection to each other while touring the world, making music together and sharing our passion and then also being connected to so many other people is what feeds us every day new energy.
‘Keine Liebe, Kein Rave’ kicks off with rock solid drums and a machine beat that will lock in the crowd then blow its mind with mind alterings synths that fizz with real energy. Dark vocal loops add more intensity to this funky banger. Royal then brings the laser lit rave sounds with flashes of acid and bright synths over quick techno beats.
This is another triumph from this label.

French 79 Drops Exclusive Video for his Second Single ‘Life Is Like’ of his Upcoming ‘TEENAGERS’ LP

The video is directed by the the French duo The Cauboys
Stream and download the exclusive music video here
The Cauboyz duo has always been in charge of French 79’s visual art direction. For Simon
Henner, “They are part of French 79’s project. We spent our childhood and teenage years
together. We understand each other at a glance. It’s crazy to be that much on the same
page.” An incredibly rare work-life relationship.
“Life is Like tells of a musician’s journey or itinerary. If the music video embodies three phases
of his life, it helps us give a glimpse at the intimacy of a character through a window. Here,
architecture and time seem to intertwine and create a monolithic sequence. The perception of
time evolves with age. The tender age was yesterday and yet, it is already so far away. What
is left of our childhood? From the time when dreams were as powerful as life. Where building
an ego was as much as when the architect completes a bridge. What is left of our
adolescence? Our first experiences, our fleeting loves… ? These creative moments resonate in
us as adults, with nostalgia driving our creation instincts. This music is so heady that the
synths’s reverb seems to echo in these private places. The story of a piece, from its first dream
to the release of the album. The position of the musician, at the center of our lives through
his.”

PIV Records boss Prunk drops new “Le Funk” LP

Artist: Prunk
Title: Le Funk
Record Label: PIV Records
Cat.Number:
Release Date: 27th January 2022

Tracklist:
1) Mushroom Jazz
2) Friday Night feat. Mr V
3) New Genesis
4) Incredible (with Ruze)
5) Story Of House feat. Jovonn (with M-High)
6) French Toast
7) Drive (with Dennis Quin)
8) Back In The Dark (Prunk Remix) (with DJ Deep)
9) Incredible (Club Mix) (with Ruze)

Influential contemporary house tastemaker Prunk is to serve-up his new album Le Funk on his own PIV Records in 2023. The nine track record showcases his mastery of sublime and seductive sounds from across the house spectrum.

Dutchman Prunk has slowly but surely become a real underground mainstay. He has built a fine collective of talents on his own label and spearheaded a new take on house music that is all about real feelings and effortless grooves. His standout solo and collaborative material has seen releases via the likes of Djebali, Key Records, Ewax and of course PIV, while he has headlined clubs and festivals all over the world. Next to this his own often sold out label showcases that have taken place everywhere from fabric (London) to Shelter (Amsterdam) vis The BPM Festival.

Now he makes his most completed coherent statement yet with his adventurous new album Le Funk. It is a distillation of all his influences and many years of house history with plenty of his own fresh signature touches.

Opener Mushroom Jazz is a stylish downtempo cut with lush lounge chords that immediately soothes the soul. Friday Night features Mr V and picks up the pace with the sort of vibey and dynamic house that Prunk has made his name with. The chords are balmy and bring real musical warmth while New Genesis pumps the party with well-swung drums and knotted bass under steamy and whispered female vocals.

Prunk & Ruze combine to great effect on Incredible, a brilliantly fresh and contemporary cut with seductive and bouncy drum loops and future facing cosmic synths. Prunk & M-High’s Story Of House (ft. Jovonn) is defined by its brilliant vibraphone melodies which recall the great Roy Ayers. They stay busy over soulful house grooves and after Prunk’s delightful, pad-laced deep house cut French Toast comes Drive with Dennis Quin. It’s a carefree house cut with neat jazz keys and steamy sax lines that bring the good times. Prunk’s driving remix of Jovonn & DJ Deep’s Back In the Dark is another track awash with magic synth work and heartfelt chords before a crisp club mix of Incredible closes the album down in style.

This is a timeless exploration of house music that manages to be as emotive and heartfelt as it does dynamic on the dance floor.

Says Prunk – “This album is a tribute to my entire music career. My first DJ name was ‘Prunk Le Funk’ mainly because I only played funky house in the early years. ‘Le Funk’ has been removed from my entire dj name because I didn’t want to be connected to just 1 genre. With this album I want to show that there is still enough ‘Funk’ in Prunk with a nod to the past.

My album really had to be a house album and I wanted to do this with a warm, soulful, funky sound. I have tried to make this album with young and old talent. One of my dreams was to make a track with house legend Jovonn and I succeeded because he did the vocals of ‘Story of House’. In the vocals he pays attention to how house originated with an important lesson for the new generation. In addition, I was also allowed to remix one of my favourite records of his called ‘Back in the Dark’, a classic together with DJ Deep, which can only be found on the vinyl of my album.

I also collaborated with another house legend Mr V. This track is a bit deeper with a warm disco bassline called ‘Friday Night’, of course with the vocals of the man himself.

Besides these legends I have made music with the talented Ruze, Dennis Quin and M-High. All 3 had a great year musically last year and that’s why I think it’s great that they’re also on my album.

I hope to not only appeal to DJs with my album, but also to house lovers because this album was made with a lot of love. I hope you enjoy it ‘for the love of house music’.”

BNR kicks off 2023 by making good on a past promise. “Love & Validation,” BOYS NOIZE and KELSEY LU‘s sex-paced industrial ballad, never received an uptempo club treatment – until now. The “Love & Validation Remixes” EP offers three new flavors of elevated atmosphere, syrupy vocals, and body-tuned rhythms from ELAXMARCEL DETTMANN, and the elusive JACKSON.

The recording of “Love & Validation” was an international affair, written and recorded in LA where Lu is based. The remix EP, however, begins with a double dose of Berlin courtesy of MARCEL DETTMANN, a central figure in the city’s Berghain era.  DETTMANN keeps the vocals and atmospheric refrain intact but surgically implants a thumping techno backbone so loosely-quantized it’s almost tribal. The new rhythm and arrangement are transformative, as if a track meant for (ahem) horizontal listening suddenly stood up vertically, taking it from the bedroom to the big room.

They are layered up over the drums and bring a sense of spiritual awakening that will make a truly impressive impact in the club when the whole thing finally peaks. Motorstellar sinks into an equally deep vibe with more smooth drums and icy percussion. Another smart breakdown gets the hairs standing on end before the tune carries you away once more.

Faithless Remix Theme Tune From The Crown To Mark Seasons 5’s Iconic 90s Era

Season 5 of The Crown returned to Netflix earlier this month with an incredible new cast including Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. This season signals a new era for the Royal Family, as they enter the 90’s and follow the events that unfolded within the period of 1991 – 1997. To mark the relevance of this culturally defining era, The Crown has partnered with 90’s powerhouse Faithless to remix Hans Zimmer’s iconic theme tune. To accompany the track, video producer Alice Isaac creates an accompanying music video featuring iconic 90s imagery in her signature style of collage and animation.

The 90s signified a huge turning point for sentiments surrounding the Royal Family. From scandal to defiance, the 90s were iconic, carrying a rebel spirit with Princess Diana as its leading lady. At the same time, the hypnotic beats and hedonistic culture of electronic music had burst into the scene, injecting a level of abandon and intensity across the country. From warehouses to abandoned factories, car parks and airfields, the counter cultural energy was spreading just as fast as the scandals that surrounded the story of the Royals.

It’s impossible to ignore some of the similarities we’re going through in the country right now, particularly in regards to the questioning of long established leadership and power, the integral role the media has come to play in this and the influence this has on the perceived counterculture. When authority is weakened, we see a rise in anti-establishment views that are expressed through new voices, movements and art forms that have previously been held down.

The 90s were revolutionary across the board – whether royal or rebel. So who better to enlist to soundtrack “The Nasty 90s” than the pioneers that were often central to the sound of this revolutionary time. Enter Faithless. Pioneers of the scene.

Faithless’ Sister Bliss commented:

“I could hear in my head how this mix could work around Hans Zimmer’s iconic and dramatic strings. I dug around in the vaults and found lots of sounds and samples we actually saved from the 1990s when we were making our albums. I thought “these are genuinely good”, so I loaded them up for this remix of Hans Zimmer’s score.”

“We wanted this to be unapologetically Faithless and use some of the very original sounds that myself and Rollo made together.”
The Crown Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix

Henri Bergmann’s trajectory in 2022 has been nothing short of stratospheric; whether remixing for, or by, Echonomist, Mia Mendi, Johnathan Kaspar, Dee Montero and Murat Uncuoglu (to name but a few); collaborating with Biesmans or touring the globe, she’s swiftly moved to the apex of dance music’s creative illuminati.

Now she delivers her first mixed compilation for Renaissance, a clubbing bastion who are synonymous with the format. “It’s a pleasure and honour to take on this mix for Renaissance,” she says, “They know a thing or two about what makes a comp’ work in this style and genre so the pressure was on to deliver. The mix is an eloquent snapshot of recent favourites, current and future bombs and, of course, a few of my own productions for good measure!”

True to her word, Henri kicks the mix off with her gorgeous rework of Dee Montero’s ‘Solena’ and then proceeds to swiftly shift through the gears over the course of the next hour. Along the way she features Adriatique, Denis Horvat, WhoMadeWho, Toto Chiavetta, Final Request and more; even her very latest single, the Tale Of Us championed ‘Simulacrum’ is woven into the deft soundscape. “It’s always a challenge and self-debate over what, and what not to include, but overall, I had real fun putting it together. I hope people enjoy it,” she happily concludes.

Tracklist:
1 ) Dee Montero – Solena (Henri Bergmann Remix)
2 ) White Label
3 ) Toto Chiavetta – Automation

With every edition of SOUNDSTORM, we further blow these doors wide open. It’s incredibly special to see music lovers enjoy this new reality, in a safe space with the highest standards of music entertainment.

“Talent is at the heart of everything we do at MDLBEAST. As well as bringing superstar global headliners to the Kingdom, it is also essential to us that we center our efforts on showcasing unseen talent from across the region.

“Feedback from the artists has been great so far. The buzz is real and is driving us to put on an even bigger and better show in 2022 for the whole world to come and enjoy.”

Organizers of the festival revealed that this year’s festival experience has almost doubled in size with more enhanced food & beverage offerings, open seating spaces to relax and parking on site for all General Admission ticket holders.
