“I am very pleased to unveil the first announcement for The Big Chill, ushering in the festival’s impressive 17th year. Having been at the forefront as a ‘boutique’ event we have put together a programme that reflects The Big Chill’s heritage whilst offering up new and exciting developments for our audiences old and new alike. To be able to offer such well respected and diverse performances, from our headliners to our international artists and breakthrough names is a true pleasure and we are thrilled to be able to evolve the musical content of the festival. What’s more, we are very lucky this summer as two of our headline acts are UK festival exclusives which is brilliant. In turn, The Big Chill 2011 will welcome the return of some key elements that have defined the festival over its 17 years including a much enhanced The Big Chill Radio, which will see it having its own stage, and Tom Middleton who, having played at every Big Chill since the very beginning is more involved in the festival than ever this year curating his own stage. Of course The Big Chill extends to much more than our musical line-up and festival goers will once again be able to enjoy the Art Trail in full and we are extremely pleased to be working with the local community to radically expand aspects such as our family and children’s entertainment through the creation of The Little Chill; a festival within in its own right. 2011 is a celebration of all that The Big Chill has been throughout its history and a bold step forward to what will be a very bright future. We look forward to seeing you there.” Melvin Benn, Festival Republic

Felix da Housecat, Slam, Diplo, Josh Wink, Benga & Youngman, Silicone Soul andMathew Jonson.  That’s just for Slam starters as there’s much more to come.

swedish house mafiaThe infamous Swedish House Mafia are set to tear it up when they descend upon Balado.  Huge individually and riotous together, the superstar trio of DJ’s Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell take dance music to another level when performing as a collective.  They stormed the charts with Tinie Tempah last year providing the unofficial soundtrack to the summer with dance floor anthem ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ and now it’s time to take on T in the Park.

leftfieldLeftfield pioneered the electronic music scene of 90’s Britain with seminal debut album ‘Leftism’ which fused dub, breakbeat and techno.  The album was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and reached Q Magazine’s 100 Greatest British Albums ever.  Famous for touring with an outrageously loud sound system which created headlines in Amsterdam and caused the ceiling of the Brixton Academy to crumble, Neil Barnes is set to make the blue walls of the Slam Tent throb as he single-handedly brings the Leftfield experience to the masses this summer.

deadmau5This man is so on top of his game that he hardly needs an introduction.  Deadmau5, the 28 year old Canadian, is an electro house producer with a big difference.  There’s the large cartoon mouse head costume of course, but there’s also the artist, the technical whizzkid, the Grammy Award nominee and the outstanding reputation for being the most forward thinking person in electronic music right now. Killer clubland tracks such as ‘Ghosts N Stuff’ and ‘I Remember’ are sure to form part of a highly visual set that will go down in history.  The man has his finger on the pulse, he creates the pulse, he IS the pulse.

Hailed as one of the world’s best electronic music acts, 2manydjs bring their pounding electro for what will be their third appearance at T in the Park. Fans of the Belgian brothers’ sell out shows know to expect outstanding visual treats and electrifying chemistry between the pair, making their set an unmissable affair. Mash ups of foot stompers like Gossip’s ‘Standing in the Way of Control’ and MGMT’s ‘Kids’ have been filling dancefloors all over the world and the fields of Balado will be shaking when these two take to the decks.

The massive dance music collective confirmed for T in the Park, along with leading urban music acts currently lead by the inimitable Tinie Tempah, and the biggest names in rock and pop, further proves that T in the Park has something for everyone.  Music fans can get lost in their love of dance for the whole weekend, saturate themselves in the sweet sounds of urban and pop, rock out to the biggest festival acts on the planet or mix it up and do it all. The very best of separate musical genres, across multiple stages with carefully curated line ups for the most finely tuned festival bill of the summer – that’s T in the Park.

At the heart of T in the Park is the music and atmosphere that continually unites the crowd and creates a weekend of memorable moments that will last a lifetime. Brit Award and Grammy winners, multi-million selling artists, music icons and legends….T in the Park 2011 has them all. Bring it on Balado.

L.E.D Festival Review

L.E.DL.E.D Festival held it's inaugural 2 day event at London's Victora Park on Friday 27th August and Saturday 28th August 2010. Brought together by heavyweights Cream, Loudsound and Goldenvoice, the lineup spoke for itself which included friday headliner David Guetta and Saturday headliner Leftfield.

With a bit of rain during the week and on Friday morning, we were happy to see it dry up a little before we arrived there.

Audio Bullys L.E.D We walked in just in time to catch the Audio Bullys with Simon Franks on the mike. As the crowd slowly builds out by the main stage, a massive roar is heard when the Audio Bullys play "Shot You Down".
Afrojack L.E.D FestivalNewcomer Afrojack is one of the hottest talents coming out of Holland at the moment and he took to the decks for the next hour. He took things up a notch with a very energetic performance. As the sun starting to shine out through the clouds, Afrojack dropped his new tune "Take Over Control" featuring the lovely vocals of Eva Simmons and to finish, tune of the moment Swedish House Mafia's "One", to see the crowd run to the main stage to join in made for a great end to a very impressive and enjoyable set.
Calvin Harris L.E.D FestivalCalvin Harris took to the decks next performing a DJ Set. Its been a while since I have seen Calvin DJ however his skills on the decks are second to none. Geting the crowd going with his latest tune "You used to Hold Me" Calvin played a uplifting house set before making way for the exceptional SoulWax.

Soulwax took to the crowd with a full band setup and rocked it like they do. Soulwax are well known for their energetic and non-stop performances and didn't disappoint at L.E.D.

Soulwax L.E.D Festival

Moving to the Planet Turbo tent we catch the end of Zombie Nation just as they drop the always brilliant Kernkraft 400. Headlining the Planet Turbo tent was none other than Turbo Recording label boss Tiga. With a loyal following Tiga kept the tempo up with a typical uplifting Tiga set.

David Guetta L.E.D FestivalHeadliner David Guetta takes to the Main Stage with a massive stage setup. Perched high above the crowd in a stage built full of led lighting, he kicked off with his latest successful collaboration with Fergie (from the Black Eyed Peas), Chris Willis and LMFAO "Gettin Over You" Going through his plethora of tunes we also heard his new collaboration with Kelly Rowland "Commander". For me David Guetta was the highlight of the day, closely followed by Afrojack.

Overall we quite enjoyed the first edition of L.E.D Festival in London, we look forward to seeing it back at Victoria Park next year.
