SHUTTLES
A FREE shuttle bus service will run during the scheduled train timings from Stevenage Train Station to the Sonisphere site starting at 1pm on the Thursday and ending once you have all gone on Monday. It will be a continuous service rather than at set times. More buses will be available during busy periods but you may need to wait for a short while to get the next available bus.
The shuttle bus is not reserved for just rail users. It can be used by local festival goers and people staying or parking in Stevenage. The shuttle bus will leave from the Leisure Park at the foot of the railway station bridge and takes you close to the entrance to the festival.
Rock Royalty camping customers have an additional shuttle which picks them up from the train station and takes them to the Rock Royalty reception. These buses will be specially labeled Rock Royalty.
Please note that all day on Thursday and on Friday till 9pm, the shuttles will only be available for trips in one direction from Stevenage to the festival. You will not be able to use it for return journeys back to Stevenage. This is to ensure that we turn the buses around as quickly as possible and make the trip from the station as quick as we can for everyone using this service.
BY AIR
Knebworth is in close proximity to all of the main London airports: Heathrow (30 miles), Stanstead (25 miles), Gatwick (75 miles) and Luton (12 miles). Trains run from all these airports to London where you can pick up a train to Stevenage.
BY RAIL
The nearest useable rail station is Stevenage, two miles away. There is a free shuttle service from the station (see above) plus is a taxi rank. Taxis should cost around £10 to the festival site (depending on traffic). Non-stop Inter-City and local services run to Stevenage from London Kings Cross Station around every 30 minutes. Plus, there are frequent Inter-City connections on the East Coast main line to Cambridge, York, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh and many other destinations.
Please note that there will be NO festival access from Knebworth Train Station. You must use Stevenage station.
It is STRONGLY recommended that return train tickets are bought in advance. Stevenage is on a very busy commuter line and has narrow platforms so it will not be possible for festival goers to gain access to the station till after 9.30am once the commuter traffic has died down. The free shuttle service will start at 9.15am from the site but you may need to wait
for a short while at the station before accessing the platforms.
It is therefore recommended that trains are booked for after 10am to ensure you can meet your travel plans. Please plan to arrive at the station around an hour before your scheduled train. There will be a queuing system in place at the station designed to get those who have booked advance tickets onto the platform in time to catch their train so look carefully at the signs and make sure you are in the right queue.
BY ROAD
There are two entrances to the site which are accessed via junction 7 and 8 of the A1(M) motorway, 10 miles north of the M25. Signage on the A1(M) will direct you to the appropriate entrance. If using Sat Nav systems, please use the postcode SG1 2AX to direct you till you pick up the road signage.
Ample parking is available on site.
ROCK RADIO will be delivering the first ever RSL (restricted service licence) Radio Station to broadcast at SONISPHERE Festival,SONISPHERE RADIO. ROCK RADIO Jock and host on SONISPHERE RADIO, Ted Rock said:
“The station has lined up an impressive list of some of the festival acts for on-air interviews. Part of the Apollo Stage’s big four, Megadeth and Anthrax will be dropping into the studio, along with Diamond Head, Architects, Volbeat, Cavelera Conspiracy and Arch Enemy with more to confirm. The Saturn Stage Headliners All Time Low and Opeth, along with Kids in Glass Houses, and Airbourne are just a handful of the names I’ll be getting the festival chat from and more I’m sure. Bill Baileys left some messages too about coming on the show but that could be messy!”
So while you’re making your way to KNEBWORTH, or pitching your tent, tune into SONISPHERE radio, broadcasting on 87.9FM around Knebworth and worldwide online at www.sonisphereradio.com from Wednesday 6th July. And it’ll still be there until Monday 11th July when you make your way home!

Massive In China
Like a rabbit in a raincoat in a box, Festibelly goers will be in for a surprise when they draw aside the curtains of the brand new Massive In China tent – a kaleidoscope of wrong cabaret and stand-up comedy, musically delightful soft to weird acoustic melodies, a bit of boombastic over to the light fantastic. Or get a bit vintage-crafty whilst watching circus performance and getting involved in a wonky gameshow or magic-not-magic act.

Featuring everything from dubstep to disco, a full line-up of electronic acts will feature throughout the day and night. Taking it into the early hours Le Disco Silence will be catering for all the night owls.
Terrapin Station
An alternative to the main stage the Terrapin Station combines flavours of acoustic, folk, gypsy and jazz and is home to the notorious Festibelly Folk Off – the signer/songwriter competition where the discerning crowd will cast their vote and crown one lucky contestant Folk King/Queen, winning themselves an opening slot on the main stage for 2012.

Björk to headline Sunday at Bestival 2011
Rob da Bank says: ‘I honestly can’t believe Björk is coming to Bestival. Without a doubt one of the most iconic musicians of the last century, Björk is always one step ahead of the pack with her music and innovations and the new Biophilia show is jam-packed full of technology, great interpretations of her amazing catalogue of songs and some brand new corkers. The grand finale to Bestival 2011 just got better!’
Björk’s unique vocal flare and experimental spark has made her one of the world’s greatest artistes and her spellbinding live shows have become the stuff of legend, so it’s a complete honour that she’s coming to our Isle of Wight shindig. In a worldwide outdoor festival exclusive, Björk will be playing a host of classic tracks, bringing things right up to date with her current hugely anticipated and inspirational musical project and album, ‘Biophilia’, which continues to push the boundaries of entertainment, combining music, apps, internet installations and live shows. Making it a sure fire guarantee that Bestivalites are in for a proper treat when it comes to this year’s closing set on the main stage.
Melt Festival add more acts
Last year, we attempted a first approach with a workshop held by Modeselektor. This year, we have even more to offer. From 16th to 17th July, free workshops (e.g. w/ Ostgut DJ Tobias Freund) and lectures (e.g. w/ Karhard Architektur, architects of Berlin’s Berghain as well as Bauhaus representative Burghard Duhm) take place, establishing a connection between electronic music, Melt!, Bauhaus, and art in general. In addition, Melt! festivalgoers have the opportunity to visit the Bauhaus exhibition for a reduced price of EUR 4. Signing up isn’t necessary. First come, first serve. Shuttle buses will be provided taking you to Dessau and back. To check out the entire programme, please go to our website. We will even extend our collaborations: Melt! Festival curates a stage at Farbfest Dessau, which takes place on the Bauhaus grounds as well as Dessau University. The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble is our first confirmed act for this event on 3rd September. We’re also looking forward to opening Intro Kneipe at Orangerie. From Friday to Sunday, the magazine will present all of its pop cultural facets. The perfect way to take a break in between acts. Besides interviews with performing artists and lectures, Intro’s editors picked out a variety of films and organised various book readings. For further info, click here (http://www.meltfestival.de/
For the third time, Editors will perform in Ferropolis. In 2005, the band performed in Ferropolis for the first time presenting their debut The Back Room in the sunny afternoon. Since then, their careers took off. In 2011, Editor are about to bring us all their hits from their debut to their 2009 album In This Light And On This Evening. We also have Architecture in Helsinki on board. With their playful synth sounds, and their unconventional use of instruments like glockenspiel, tuba, xylophone, recorder and tap dance shoes as a rhythmic element, Architecture in Helsinki truly stick out of the crowd. Also confirmed are Le Corps Mince de Françoise, the Icelandic combo Retro Stefson, the Australian DJ duo Bag Raiders as well as the London-based trio Is Tropical. Techno grandmaster Tobi Neumann, Andreas Dorau and Kuriose Naturale joined our line-up as well. Before and after Melt! acts conquer our various stages, we have our lovely changeover DJ and party posse ready for you: Fieber-Tanzparty, Revolver Club, Team Recorder, Fryzeit, Radio & Fernseh, Voodoohop, Karrera Klub, King Kong Kicks and Trashpop feat. Wolke und Timid Tiger. For further info on our changeover DJs, click here (http://www.meltfestival.de/

Jessie J cancels all her festival performances
Following the statement released by Jessie J regarding forthcoming Festival performance cancellations, including T in the Park, Festival Director Geoff Ellis comments: ‘I am gutted. She was someone I was really looking forward to seeing and I’m sure a lot of T in the Parkers were too. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to welcome her next year.’
