Magnetic Man

The 3 day event held in June will see old favourites and musical institutions Hospital Records and Rinse 106.8 FM showcase their finest MC’s and producers alongside new additions; The Red Bull Music Academy who are quickly establishing themselves as the preeminent voice in nurturing British breakthrough talent. What better way to convey their success than with a thirst quenching line up featuring the sounds of Hessle Audio’s Pearson Sound, Ben UFO & Pangaea, plus Mele, Brenmar and BBC Radio 1’s Benji B.

Be sure to join the party early on Friday as East London’s most popular radio station, Rinse 106.8FM sets the benchmark for the rest of the weekend with performances from Magnetic Man, the debut live show from Zinc+, Boy Better Know, Redlight, P Money, Brackles and Supplier.

Also on Friday, Lovebox readies Victoria Park for a horn-blowing, whistle-frenzy in the Digital Soundboy Eastside Carnival will give Londoners license to dance until the speaker’s blow as Sub Focus, Rusko, Shy FX, Breakage, Toddla T Sound, Youngman and B-Traits dish up a zealous serving of bassomatic sound-waves, vibrant carnival treats, samba collectives and much more.

Not content with that, Hot Chip return as Friday main stage headliners following their storming set in 2010. French wonder kid Madeon will hypnotize crowds with his electronic pop wizardry and warped Canadian indie stars Crystal Castles are set to whip the crowd up with their on stage antics as they raise the curtain on a weekend just getting started.

Then on Saturday, Hospitality, one of the countries fasting selling club nights swaps Brixton Academy for the new Lovebox Big Top as they deliver an enviable line up too big for even it’s 6,000 capacity South London home. Netsky, High Contrast, David Rodigan, Camo & Crooked and Danny Byrd are just a few of the acts which will leave clubbers salivating at the prospect.

The Crosstown Rebels bring the Rebel Rave to Hackney on Saturday as well, as Maceo Plex, Art Development, Amirali Live and label boss Damian Lazarus spin a volley of Fabric and DC10 favourites. Demand has never been higher for a collection of DJ’s at the very top of their game.

The final dance arena on Saturday goes to London promoters du jour, Warm & Electric Minds, following on from the success of their storming parties all over the capital the two promoters welcome the likes of international stars Dixon, Prosumer, Joy Orbison, Move D, Gerd Janson and more to the infamous NYC Downlow structure.

One of the most globally in-demand electronic live acts in recent years, Booka Shade will also feature on Saturday spearheading one of the biggest dance-a-thons the capital has ever seen.

Andrew Weatherall, Tim Sweeney and Optimo lead the charge on Sunday as Lovebox institutions Horsemeat Disco supervise a mêlée of electronic DJ’s worthy of their formidable reputation as the ‘UK’s finest operators of Disco’. Cross over to Trailer Trash and Gutterslut as they guarantee to make hairs stand up on the arms of even the most ardent of clubber as Germany’s godfather of Techo, DJ Hell tops a jaw dropping bill alongside James Murphy and Pat Mahoney marking their highly anticipated return to the UK dance scene, plus Tiga, Ivan Smagghe and more.

Also across Sunday catch band of the moment Azari & III, Chicago house impresario Felix Da Housecat, Dan Beaumont, The Lovely Jonjo and many, many more.

Long after the gates have closed festivalgoers are invited to party late into the night as XOYO (Friday) and Ministry of Sound (Saturday) host the official Lovebox after parties.

With tickets starting from under thirty quid per day there is little doubt that this legal high won’t be available for long.

Grace Jones to headline Lovebox 2012

Grace JonesHailed as showcasing one of the greatest ever performances from the past decade of Lovebox, the outrageous diva is back to recreate a stage masterpiece and maintain her love affair with Lovebox.

Grace Jones has been saluted as the best ever performer to take to the stage over the 10 year span of London’s Lovebox.  Grace, famously known for her unique and explosive style, took to the stage in 2010 where she spun out tracks from her critically acclaimed greatest hits, going down in history as one of the greatest Lovebox sets, never to be forgotten by the 20,000 that witnessed her on stage. Now, in 2012, she will go ‘all out’ once again and go down in London’s history as she brings the biggest disco ever to a crescendo.

Commenting on her performance, Grace says: Brace yourself!”

Along with Grace Jones, this year’s headliners Hot Chip and Friendly Fires return to the Lovebox stage bringing their respective magic back to the hottest summer East London festival. What better way to celebrate a decade of love with three of the most talked-about and explosive performers who truly represent the past 10 years of the beating heart of Lovebox.

The Sunday spectacular – with Grace Jones headlining alongside already announced very special guests Lana Del Rey and Holly Johnson – welcomes the Brit and Grammy winner, multi million record sales recording artist, Mika. After a recent collaboration with Madonna, Mika will now take to the Lovebox Sunday ‘This Is Circus’ stage hosted by Jodie Harsh, to bring pop to life and to perform his worldwide hit ‘Grace Kelly’.

Ahead of his performance, Mika says: "I've spent many amazing, lost nights at Circus and I couldn't think of a better way of taking part in Jodie's night than doing this performance.”

Also joining the Sunday spectacular is legendary American DJ/Producer Felix Da Housecat, famous for his Chicago ‘Electrikboy’ beats; Felix will bring his distinctive flare to Vicky Park to seal an eclectic musical Sunday fest.

Across the three-day weekend, Victoria Park, East London will be shaken to its core this June with an array of sound, colour and vibes combining the old and the new for the ultimate 10 year birthday party.

Lovebox Festival will take place on June 15th, 16th and 17th June 2012.

Lana Del Rey joins Lovebox 2012 lineup

Across the three-day weekend, Victoria Park, Hackney will come to life as a hat trick of NYC’s finest exports, Lana Del Rey, Azealia Banks and Kelis perform tracks from some of the most notable records in recent times.

Lana Del Rey

Skream and Benji B add to an already explosive Friday line up of British DJ’s currently dominating some of the scene’s most hyped sets whilst Blondes unleashes a volley of electro beats reminiscent of the 90’s rave scene cementing Victoria Park’s status as the capital’s most enviable dance floor. The Rinse 106.8 FM Arena looks set to burst with the addition of Redlight featuring Dread MC and North London’s favourite female, Ms. Dynamite.

Saturday’s “Music Safari” will submerge itself in a sea of hip hop drum beats and rhythmic basslines as the outdoor stage casts Nextmen into the mix whilst Booka Shade’s addition will guarantee to keep revelers dancing long after the gates have closed.

Lovebox Festival will take place on June 15th, 16th and 17th June 2012.

Jessie J, Beth Ditto and more added to Lovebox 2011 lineup

FRIDAY
Curated by Lovebox’s boisterous younger sibling Bang the Box, Friday will see appearances from Ed Sheeran and Architecture in Helsinki on the Gaymers Stage. With a ticket for Friday‘s shenanigans costing from only £28.50 it’ll be hard to find a better night out for such good value.

2011 is set to be 20-year old Ed Sheeran’s year. The singer-songwriter has achieved phenomenal success with minimal airplay, securing a no. 1 album on iTunes earlier this year with No.5 Collaborations Project, featuring tie-ups with Devlin, JME and Wiley. Now signed to a major after multiple self-funded indie releases and due to release his debut album this Summer, Ed is stunning critics and fans alike with his incredible raw talent and individuality.

A band all about creating the perfect pop/indie rock rush, Architecture in Helsinki use multiple instruments including synths, saxes and even their toes. The six-piece are constantly challenging themselves to keep their enthusiastic live shows bursting with energy and maintaining an addictive happy-go-lucky, made-for-dancing vibe.

In the Vice Arena, taylor-made for London’s hippest bright young things, Friday’s festival-goers will be treated to a very special appearance from Warp Records’ Hudson Mohawke and their cornerstone artist Flying Lotus. The avant-garde L.A. native and producer of otherworldy, experimental, multi-genre sounds has been heavily influenced by his family’s jazz heritage as well as his love of drum and bass, West Coast gangsta rap and G-Funk melodies. A unique and pioneering electronic artist, his most recent album, Cosmogramma, has been described by Mary Anne Hobbs as “A completely new sonic language. Lotus is like Hendrix – he’s completely torn up the rule book in electronic music… I hear his sound echoing in every corner of the planet.”

The Bang the Box crowd will also be privy to a very special first ever live appearance from Photek, aka Rupert Parkes. One of drum and bass’s earliest adopters, this true player in the scene is one of the most respected artists in his genre. Herve, known for his rave-oriented productions and high energy DJ sets, also features on the bill.

The Relentless Energy Drink Arena will run across all three days of the festival and be host to three of Lovebox’s most exciting crews. On Friday, iconic Parisian dance stable Ed Banger Records will launch a full-blown attack on Lovebox patrons ears by presenting enfant terrible SebastiAn, French house duo Cassius, electropop Lolita Uffie and DJ superteam Carte Blanche. Ed Banger head honcho Busy P will be teaming up with graphic designer and illustrator So Me to form Busy Pictionary. In a feast for the eyes and ears, So Me will be creating live artwork on stage whilst Busy P spins the decks.

SATURDAY
jessie jThe Essex born and bred megastar with a songwriting talent to match her astonishing voice, Jessie J, will perform just before Snoop + Tha Dogg Pound on the main stage on Saturday. The winner of a Brits Critics’ Choice Award and the BBC’s Sound of 2011 has recently experienced a meteoric rise to critical acclaim in 2011, and is set to play the main stage on Saturday. With a debut album certified Gold after just one month, which includes the anthemic Do it Like a Dude and number one smash Price Tag ft. BOB, Jessie is set to bring her energetic and passionate live performance style to one of her biggest audiences yet. Whilst American artist Santigold will be mashing up dub, punk, and electronics to make an energetic, anger-fuelled set that blurs the lines between the dancefloor and the moshpit.

Saturday’s Music Safari will also feature Gaymers Stage appearances by three-piece North Wales indie rockers The Joy Formidable, Bolton’s Americana-influenced CherryGhost, the “new MGMT” Foster The People, New Yorkers Violens and folk-tronic Malpas. Encompassing an eclectic line-up of underground club collectives, cool indie kids and international mega stars in the shape of Snoop Dogg and Warren G, Music Safari will have a strong party vibe.

Fresh from sell out shows all over the UK, independent Drum & Bass label Hospital Records will be bringing Hospitality to the Relentless Energy Drink Arena on Saturday for their first ever London festival appearance, including DJ and producer, High Contrast, influential reggae DJ David Rodigan, live collaborative act London Elektricty (featuring Elsa Esmerelda), DJ, producer and musician Danny Byrd, new wave Drum & Bass producer Netsky, pioneers of jungle Drum & Bass Shy FX, Austrian Drum & Bass duo Camo + Krooked, hard-edged grunk composer Starkey, prolific Drum & Bass producer Logistics, highly respected producers, Nu:tone (featuring Natalie Williams), Drum & Bass DJs and producers Sigma and definitive label Wah Wah 45’s Soundsystem. Hosts include drum & bass, dubstep and hip hop MC‘s Wrec, Dynamite, Stamina, A.D. and SP:MC.

Meanwhile, Lovebox founders Groove Armada will return to the festival with Groove Armada Presents Red Light, the Mulletover crew featuring main man Geddes will bring a techno- house affair and their deep and sexy style, whilst Seth Troxler will bring his atmospheric bliss to this year’s festival.

SUNDAY
beth dittoLead singer of The Gossip and NME’s “Coolest Person in Rock,” flamboyant indie-rocker Beth Ditto will play the main stage on Sunday. The Love Magazine cover star, rock goddess and queen of indie is made for Sunday’s Out and Out Fierce programme – a collection of the weird, wonderful, and fantastically fabulous; showing diversity, and being a true reflection of our wild, polychromatic, polysexual capital.

Also added to the Out and Out Fierce line up for Sunday for the Gaymers Stage are Italian Disco duo Retro/Grade, Disco House posers Monarchy and model/singer/songwriter/stylist Viktoria Modesta.

Sunday on the Relentless Energy Drink Arena will be taken over by Jodie Harsh’s Circus, where she will be bringing her famous parties out of the warehouse and into the park. The London icon and life and soul of the party will be joined by an immense line-up of friends, including  “Sultan of Scando techno” Style of Eye, DJ Fred Falke, synthpoppers Filthy Dukes, DJ/Producer Kris Di Angelis (live), twisted house–master Tom Stephan, Bowski, Warboy and performances from Eat Your Heart Out and host Scottee.

Futher arenas confirmed for the weekend include a who’s who of some of the most important labels, DJs and promoters out there. East London radio station Rinse FM, recently granted an FM license after over a decade of underground service, will be bringing their FWD>>Rinse club night to Lovebox as arena hosts, marking their first London festival performance. Sticking to familiar territories of Hackney and Tower Hamlets where the widely acclaimed statio Rinse first came to prominence, FWD>>Rinse will be bringing a selection of prime acts from the grime, dubstep and UK Funky scenes that the station anc club night helped birth. The Horse Meat Disco will also bring a heavy dose of Disco house.
