Tiësto & Avicii to headline London’s Electric Daisy Carnival

Electric Daisy Carnival, the world-famous electronic music event, will be heading to London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Saturday 20th July 2013 for one of the biggest shows to hit the UK this summer, featuring some of electronic music’s biggest and most globally recognised talent, including headliners Tiësto and AVICII, as well as Steve Angello, Alesso, Hardwell, Madeon and many more, across one main stage and three arenas.

Partnered by Insomniac and Cream, Electric Daisy Carnival London will combine the world’s leading electronic artists with the epic production and visual experience that Electric Daisy Carnival has become famed for.

An epicenter for the world’s leading dance music stars, the Electric Daisy Carnival London Main Stage is headed up by Dutch megastar Tiësto and Swedish prodigy AVICII. Tiësto brings a touch of world class to the Main Stage; a one-man music machine, he is a global powerhouse, with his own iPhone App, a weekly podcast, tour dates around the world, and a recent collaboration with AIDS charity (RED) – November 2012’s ‘Dance (RED) Save Lives’ demonstrating his influence. Avicii is an incredible addition to the line-up. The young producer and DJ is currently ranked Number 3 in the ‘DJ Magazine’ Top 100 DJs list, and was nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Dance Recording.

Avicii

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as Steve Angello – who dropped an Essential Mix of epic proportions on BBC Radio 1 in March – is a star attraction. Having just launched his label imprint X, he aims to give music “freedom, fuel and new life”. Young DJ genius Alesso has been far from shy to the Beatport Number 1 spot, and comes to Electric Daisy Carnival London ready to prove just what the fuss is about. Hardwell is known for his mind-blowing sets, and looks to deliver something unbelievable at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in July. He’s boss at Revealed Recordings, and his Hardwell On Air podcast is a regular in the iTunes Top Ten.

Electric Daisy Carnival London hosts the Hard Arena, supplying a heavier electro-infused dance music style. French producer Madeon is a teenage producer whose star is in the ascension, whose most recent collaboration is with Ellie Goulding on ‘Stay Awake’. Fake Blood brings his collection of tunes so anthemic, so huge, his set will rattle the arena to the rafters. Porter Robinson joins Electric Daisy Carnival London in the midst of his Circle Assembly Tour. His upcoming MInistry of Sound collaboration with Mat Zo, April’s ‘Easy’, is already being proclaimed one of the tunes of 2013, such is its floor-filler potential. Crookers also gets behind the decks, fresh from his remix of deadmau5 and Imogen Heap’s ‘Telemiscommunications’. Big time producer, DJ and promoter of HARD, Destructo is also in effect. And very special guest Rusko hits heavy, making this one mind-blowing arena.

One of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s most-loved DJs, Mistajam comes to Electric Daisy Carnival London, hosting his very own Speakerbox Arena. Speakerbox has had a fantastic year, pulling together some of the best scenes and skills in urban and bass music. BBC Radio 1 face Jaguar Skills brings his electric-quick mixing and his own eclectic tune selection. Household name Caspa jumps on board. His big and bassy free download ‘Freeze’ is available now, taken from his ‘Alpha Omega’ album due in April. And no arena is complete without its legends. One of the original pioneers of jungle, SHY FX teams up with Stamina MC, and drum’n’bass innovator Goldie joins the ranks. The Speakerbox Arena will be bouncing all day long.

Taking full advantage of the vast space of the former Olympic Park site, expect the full carnival experience with carnival rides, art installations and hundreds of costume-clad performers. As Insomniac’s first venture onto UK shores this event is set to be the show of 2013.

Insomniac has built an international reputation for hosting some one of the biggest shows on the planet, producing more than 250 music events for more than 2,000,000 concert goers across America including a ground-breaking 320,000 revellers to Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas annually.

Equally Cream, one of the UK’s longest running and frontline promoters of electronic music, have built an unprecedented reputation for hosting some of the best events the UK has to offer, including the mighty Creamfields festival.

Croatia’s Echo Festival adds new acts to lineup

With just over 2 months left before its new location debut, Echo Festival welcomes a third round of acts to its already forward thinking and progressive line-up. Set on one of the most beautiful bays in IstriaEcho Festival will present four days and four nights of perfectly programmed electronic frequencies.

The legendary Italian producer Davide Squillace brings his unique and unparalleled groove to Echo this year. With tracks released on Ovum, Sci+Tek and Desolat amongst others, he is highly respected by producers around the world, both for his technically impressive sound-design and forward thinking, outside-the-box approach to creating music. Holding his residency at Circoloco (DC10) for 5 years, an accolade held by luminaries such as Loco Dice, Luciano and Petre Inspirescu, gives an indication of his pedigree and has made him a highly sought after commodity at some of the biggest festivals across the globe. Leave your expectations at home with this guy, he’ll only blow them out of the water.

Located in Kanegra, near the picturesque town of Umag, the brand new site promises an as-yet-untouched festival setting, combining the elegant beauty of the Adriatic coast with wild woodland backdrops. With a careful selection of artists recognized for their longevity and substance, it looks like there’s nothing better in Croatia throughout the 2013 festival season.

Crafting away in the dusty, static-coated and most unpredictable pockets of electronic music, Kassem Mosse is one of the most talked about artists of the last couple of years. The German DJ/producer, real name Gunnar Wendel, has been behind some of the most curious and invigorating house and techno records, first coming to the spotlight with his seminal contributions to the Workshop series, and more recently, to Boddika’s Nonplus+ label. Forever experimenting with the cheap equipment that defines his damaged, imperfect aesthetic, his sound is characterized as a warm, hazy mechanical funk that evolves slowly over time.

Beloved Detroit DJ, producer & J-Dilla affiliate Andrés – whose hit "New For U" topped many end of year lists as the #1 track of 2012 – will also set sail to Croatia for a highly anticipated performance. The former DJ of J-Dilla’s hip hop outfit Slum Village (as DJ Dez), he’s been releasing some of the funkiest house music around since the late 90’s; music where every lick seems to drip with golden soul. With releases on Moodymann’s Mahogani Music and his own imprint La Vida, his sets tease the borders of house, hip hop, funk & downtempo boogie, with a turntablist skill & singularly deep vibe aimed straight at the party!

Dutch producer Ion Ludwig has been impressing dance floors from New York to Berlin with his unique ‘must-see’ live set. Influenced by African percussions and living legends Ricardo Villalobos, Zip and Johnson, his sound is an intricate and sophisticated hybrid of minimal, jazz, house and techno. Joining him is Madteo, real name Matteo Ruzon, who cites New York nightlife and Detroit as major influences in his musical upbringing. As a result his style represents a blend of deep, spacious house, with elements of hip hop, new wave and Italo. Recent productions have seen releases on Workshop and Joy Orbison's Hinge Finger imprint and amongst the many accolades he received last year, Little White Earbuds named him their #1 Artist Who Defined 2012.

Boasting a cutting edge line-up and intimate setting, this year also welcomes the presence of 4, 5 & 6 bedroom on-site apartments providing grateful partygoers with a sheltered haven from the sun. Add to its charm a very affordable ticket rate of£65 and the potential lure of boat parties, and Echo is well on its way towards becoming the young cool cat amongst its older, bass-bashing brothers.

My Bloody Valentine, Grimes and many more added to Flow Festival

The legends of alternative rock, My Bloody Valentine, hot on the heels of their praised comeback album, electro artist Grimes and many other acts have been added to the lineup of the Flow Festival. All tickets come on sale today on Friday the 5th of April.

Founded in the early 1980s, Irish band My Bloody Valentine returned from a 22-year break from recording in February, and will now perform at Flow this August. Their previous record, 1991's Loveless, has become one of the most highly praised, undeniable classics in its genre with its uncompromising buzz. This year's m b v is one of the most impressive comeback records ever.

My Bloody Valentine

Other new additions to Flow's lineup are New York's Parquet Courts with its garage-sounding ruckus and roll, the new star of alternative pop, Grimes, and Junip, the band fronted by the master of timeless folk José González. Last year's Visions from Canadian Grimes was at the top of countless best of the year lists and Pitchfork picked Oblivion as the best song of 2012. Grimes follows-up her success with a fourth album expected in autumn 2013. Junip is also set to release new material in April.

Local additions to Helsinki's Flow Festival are jazz acts Dalindèo and Verneri Pohjola & Black Motor, two acts from the top of Finnish hip hop, Loost Koos and Laineen Kasperi ja Palava Kaupunki, as well as the bunch of reggae artists brought to Flow's backyard by the Reggae Sundays club including Bitty McLean, Gappy Ranks and Christopher Ellis.

All Flow Festival tickets will come on sale today on Friday April 5th and the day-by-day schedule of the festival has been released. More acts will be added to the lineup during the spring.

Earlier, artists such as Kraftwerk 3D Show, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Knife, Bat For Lashes, Beach House, Kendrick Lamar, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Haim, Solange, Azealia Banks and Of Monsters And Men have been announced in the lineup.

Summer Sound Festival announces Kids In Glass Houses, Chloe Howl and more

Gloucester City Council is delighted to announce its refreshed one-day music festival will return for a second year, under another new name. Introduced in July last year as Park:Live, the event has been forced to rebrand following a legal challenge, and will now be known as Summer Sound Festival.

Organiser Joe Schiavon explains more about the name change ‘Obviously it’s a bit of a shame we’ve had to change it after making such a strong start with Park:Live last year, plus we all really liked that name. But there’s a festival in Manchester with a very similar name, and they’ve got a trademark, so we didn’t want any trouble, and said we’d look at something different. Plus, we’d only been going a year with the old one, so it’s not a massive loss. The most important thing for us is about keeping a consistent level of quality with the lineup, and I’m more than confident we’ve achieved that.’

After setting the bar pretty high musically last year, the pressure has been on to match or better the lineup. Headlining this year will be Welsh rockers Kids In Glass Houses. One of the biggest names in UK rock music, this is the first time the band have played in the area, and they’ll no doubt be premiering a lot of new songs from their hotly-anticipated fourth album, due out later in the year.

Main support is the fantastic Chloe Howl, a rising star poised to join the ranks of household female pop names like Ellie Goulding with her sassy beat-driven songs.

We’re delighted to be giving a massive opportunity to local heroes Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun, who have really moved up a level in the last six months after massive tours supporting Frank Turner and Dropkick Murphys in the UK and US respectively. This will be their biggest ever UK show and a well deserved, triumphant homecoming.

Making up the support bill are The Struts, who write massive stadium pop-rock anthems, Propellers, whose sound will remind you of the vintage era for NME-type indie guitar bands (2002-2006, in case you were wondering), Sons and Lovers, who also know their way around a chorus, and have the same manager as Ellie Goulding, and Drive By Night, purveyors of songs bigger than American highways. Kitten and Bear are the other local band on the bill, and they’re about as far removed musically from Jim Lockey’s band as it’s possible to be, but no less talented.

Full lineup:

Kids In Glass Houses
Chloe Howl

Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun
The Struts

Propellers

Sons and Lovers

Drive By Night

Cee Lo Green, Eric Prydz and more added to Exit Festival lineup

The EXIT Festival line up is shaping up nicely with even more additions added to the already stellar line up including; Cee Lo Green, Eric Prydz and more!

Cee Lo Green, Eric Prydz, Ame b2b Dixon, Scuba live, Ana Popovic band, Prong, Delilah and Kate Boy. Taking place from 10th – 14th July in the magical Petrovaradin Fortress, the 2013 edition is extended to five days, offering even more value for money, adventure and excitement. It's a revolutionary rave!

Cee Lo Green

Five time Grammy Award winner and star of TV show The Voice, Cee Lo Green will make his debut performance in Serbia at this years EXIT Festival. Becoming an overnight sensation as part of the Gnaris Barkley duo, which he earned two of his Grammies, for "Crazy" and the album "St. Elsewhere" Cee Lo went onto an even bigger success arrived in his solo career. "The Lady Killer" album, which spawned such hits as "Forget you/F..ck you", "Bright Lights Bigger City" and "Fool For You", which added three new Grammies to his collection, as well as the renowned Brit and Billboard awards. His impressive collaborations list includes Madonna, Santana, Christina Aguilera, Rod Stewart, Bruno Mars, Black Eyed Peas, Chase & Status, which shows us his ability to balance a multitude in genres, handled by not that many authors.

Eric Prydz make a welcome return to the EXIT Dance Arena. Growing ever more popular, swedish DJ and producer gained worldwide fame after his remix of 1980?s hit 'Call On Me' smashed music charts around the globe staying at number one spot in UK, France and Germany for weeks. Grammy-nominated Prydz was also the only dance music producer to remix Pink Floyd?s 'Another Brick In The Wall', which brought his music to even wider fan base. Besides DJing and production Eric also manages three highly respected labels – Mouseville, Pryda & Pryda Friends which are positively brimming with cutting edge underground club hits.

Exciting back to back shows have become a trade mark of the EXIT Dance Arena. This year Ame and Dixon, makers of the huge hit 'Where We At' will serve up some quality Chicago House and Detroit techno.

Straight from Berlin's finest clubs, Scuba will perform his first live performance for the EXIT crowd at the Petrovaradin fortress. His third album 'Personality' gives an insight into his art of mixing techno, house and trance with dubstep, a recipe he has perfected more than anyone out there.

One of the newest and coolest electro pop bands out there Kate Boy are also among new Dance Arena artists. With the public and media such as Billboard magazine saying that they are the best new live act this summer Kate Boy is about to show to Dance Arena that they mean business.

Eric Prydz

Ana Popovic or 'the female Jimi Hendrix' is considered one of the best blues players in the world. She was the only non-American musician ever nomination for Best New Artist Debut at the W.C. Handy Awards, the blues equivalent of the Oscars. Possibly the greatest recognition came from the king of soul music, Solomon Burke who specifically requested Ana to join him on stage at one of his concerts and to support him for the rest of his tour. Ana is also honoured by the world's leading guitar makers Fender as one of their exclusive promoters.

After several years of absence from the metal scene, Prong will be rocking the Fusion stage with their wild energy and ruthless riffs. The audience of EXIT festival will have the opportunity to hear Prong?s latest album "Carved into Stone" as well as all of their legendary metal anthems.

One of the stars of this year's Fusion stage is Delilah, lady with the voice of an angel. Many compare her sophisticated sound with Massive Attack and Portishead and the subtle soulfulness of her voice with Sade and Aaliyah, but none of these are more than hints: Delilah sounds like no one as much as herself. At first, she gained popularity as a hook singer on Chase & Status's huge 2010 anthem "Time" and then it all took off with the release her first album 'From The Roots Up' which provided recognition from wider audience.
