Beach Break Live returns to its spiritual home of Cornwall this year and organisers will be ensuring that festival goers get to see all the area has to offer via local talent showcases and working closely with the local community. Beach Break Live will be championing a myriad of local musicians, including the reggae-funkatron sounds of Cornwalls' Backbeat Soundsystem, Devon bass-head Hidden Riddim and Newton Abbot's hotly tipped Alice Jemima who has already earned herself a strong following with plays on BBC Radio 1 and 6Music. Organisers have also set out to find the next big thing this year in the Battle to the Beach competition, which will give one lucky act the chance to perform on the first ever Fistral Beach Main Stage. Three finalists have already been picked, with Cumbria indie-rockers Missarioty, Hip Hop, Soul, Folk band Scott James & The Revolution and funk hip-hoppers Sounds Of Harlowe, who will all receive VIP passes to the festival to thrash it out in front of an industry judging panel. With Newquay hosting this year's game-changing event, festival organisers are keen to give back to the surf-town and local community. Beach Break Live will be working with over 30 local businesses including the local council, Newquay BID and the town's clubs and pubs. 2013 will see an estimated 2 million pounds put back into the community via food, drink and accommodation which is all being provided by Newquay's businesses; even production staff have been sourced from Cornwall ensuring that not a penny is overlooked when giving back to the area. 

To get an idea of the scale of this years bash, Beach Break Live predicts that over 30,000 pasties will be eaten on-site, over 25,000 ice creams will be consumed and surfers will take to the waves a whopping 25,000 times!

Jane Hawkey, Fistral Beach Bar said: "Beach Break Live will be great for the town as it's happening within established premises, rather than out of town in a field. It's not just bars and clubs that will benefit either as people will be wanting a pasty, fish and chips, or a cup of coffee. We should welcome the festival with open arms."

Local Beach Breakers will be happy to hear that they can get half price tickets for the festival. Organisers are offering a 50% discount on Silver Tickets for anyone living in the Cornwall area – that's just £20 for the entire 4 days! Those with Sailors Card, Salt Card or Berties Card are also eligble for the discounted offer.

Today boffins reveal that there are more amazing things to do at Beach Break Live 2013 than there are stars in the universe, in fact there is 1259, a number which isn't even comprehendible to most! Extreme Games lineup set for Beach Break Live

Today Beach Break Live announces the Extreme Sports taking place at this year's event set in the surfing paradise of Newquay. Returning to their spiritual home, the four day festival extravaganza is making use of its stunning location. Revellers can compete in Windsurfing,Kitesurfing, Surfing and Wakeboarding as well as a host of beach based activities from beach rugby to beach football. Well known for being the surfing capital of the UK, Newquay has attracted hundreds of thousands of surfers and water sports fans for the past 40 years. From 20th – 24th June, Beach Break Live will take over the town, beaches and waves to bring the best in new music and extreme sports. Taking place over two of the most famed beaches in England, Beach Breakers can take to the water at either Watergate Bay or Fistral Beachbetween 20th – 24th, competing against hundreds of semi-professional, professional and country wide societies for the title of Extreme Sports Champion. Last year's winner and Professional Kitesurfer, Ali Barrettsays "I'm stoked about the move down to Newquay, it's such a perfect setting for Beach Break. Music on the beach, kiting competitions at Watergate bay and we've got the wake board pool gap right next to the campsite! What more could you ask for!"

This year The Pool Gap returns and festival goers will be able to watch the danger filled Wakeboardingcompetition right from their tents as Beach Break Live brings the two pool set up to the Golden Ticket campsite. 2013 sees Watergate Bay play host to the most incredible Windsurfing event ever, The Student Windsurfing Association – SWA will be putting on an awesome show with both a team racing competition and an Expression Session style competition where competitors will be judged on wave riding, jumping and freestyle moves. Kitesurfing returns to Beach Break Live at Watergate Bay this year, through both a spectacular competition and free beginner taster sessions all weekend! The famous Fistral Beach will be a wash with Surfers throughout Beach Break Live as they compete for the title of Surfing Campion, all whilst listening to the likes of Jake Bugg, AlunaGeorge and Lucy Rose on the first ever main stage on Fistral.

The Cuban Brothers and more added to Beach Break Live lineup

Today Beach Break Live announce a monumental array of artists to add to their already bulging carnival line-up. Featuring everyone from the globally renowned Cuban Brothers to the phenomenal Dizraelli & the Small Gods. This year Beach Break Live brings ticket holders its best offering yet, taking over the surfer paradise of Newquay from 20th – 24th June. The new music holiday will be creating a carnival extravaganza like no other with ticket holders enjoying everything from cliff-top choirs to cave performances, 2013 is set to be better than ever before. Cuban BrothersBeach Break Live announce over 100 artists to join the already astonishing line-up, confirming the new music holiday as one of the best places to hear new music and breaking talent this summer. Featuring the likes of Passport To Stockholm, the London based trio who have been pumping fresh air into the lungs of the acoustic genre since forming at the beginning of 2012 they are set to take the festival season by storm this summer. The wonderful Cuban Brothers will no doubt be entertaining the masses at the beach side paradise alongsideShadow Child, originally a side project for Simon Neale, Shadow Child has gone from strength to strength attracting thousands of international fans. 

Also joining the bill is breakbeat aficionados Freestylers, who have been dominating the genre since their inception in 1996. Flying the Beach Break Live flag in 2013 will also be Coda, the amazing Gentlemens Dub Club, house icon George Fitzgerald and Eddy Temple Morris' number one producer of 2012, Maribou State. A host of additional artists are also announced today, including Abigail Hubbard, Alice Amelia, Battle of You, Boddika,Laura Flethcer, Lazy Habits, Only Joe, Planes, Second City, Submotion Orchestra, Urban Folk Quartet, Tom Bradley and many more.

Taking over Newquay to become the first UK Music Holiday, Beach Break Live has announced a plethora of entertainment including a main stage on the award winning Fistral Beach for the first time ever, secret sets in greasy spoons, feverish DJ’s in classic clubs, hidden rooftop raves, beach discos, boat parties and more. Jake Bugg, the BRITS-Award-nominee and Harry Styles’ nemesis has seen a phenomenal rise to fame, not to mention critical acclaim, throughout the last year. The Nottingham born singer-songwriter has been tipped to become the sound of 2013 and Beach Break Live is thrilled to announce him as the Sunday headliner for the very first music holiday. As one of Buggs only festival dates in 2013, no doubt revellers will flock to Newquay to hear him perform live. Jack Bugg joins duo AlunaGeorge who’s recent single Attracting Flies is a sure fire hit, blending their unique melodic electro pop with lead singer Aluna Francis’s beautiful vocals. 
Other artists announced today include the sultry Lulu James, London rapper Devlin, Seminal DJ Format, Scratch Perverts, and hotly tipped Lucy Rose also join the eclectic line-up, establishing Beach Break Live as a festival for new and emerging artists. Having supported the likes of double BRIT's winner Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran, Beach Break Live has always been a platform for the new and fresh, this years line-up is no different, introducing the likes of Alice Jamima whose soft vocals are set to wow crowds and Jack Wallen's easy going melodic sound coupled with his frank vocals will no doubt accompany the surfer paradise of Fistral Beach. 
 
Beach Break Live is set to bring significant income into Newquay  and is working closely with the local council, Newquay BID and all Newquay businesses, clubs, pubs and community to ensure the event is beneficial to everyone involved.

Beach Break Live 2013 builds on the overwhelming success of last year, which played host to a phenomenal music line-up. Headliners, Chase & Status, Dizzee Rascal and Friendly Fires were among the artists play to the crowd of 20,000 people. Even the drizzle, which plagued the first two days, couldn't stop the revelers from embracing everything the festival has to offer and eventually glorious sunshine prevailed.
 
Nestled in the beautiful Pembrey Country Park, Beach Break Live embraces the versatility of this outstanding eight mile stretch of award winning golden coastline. The festival also boasts a dry ski slope making it the ideal location for the Extreme Student Games. All this has been organised by Beach Break Lives dedicated team who even had the pleasure of turning down an offer on the BBC’s ‘Dragons’ Den.’ Beach Break Live is a highlight of the year to thousands of students around the UK, 2013 will yet again offer a plethora of extraordinary experiences and musical stars! 

 

Beach Break Live announces Alternative lineup!

Beach Break Live is so much more than a music festival, programming over 500 performances across 13 venues from 10am-4am. No festival goer will ever suffer from boredom from the moment they arrive on site to the moment they pack up their tent, whether they’re flexing their sporting prowess or soaking up the rays on the beach! Revellers will have the chance to experience burlesque to beat box, woodland theatre to world food, all within the stunning Pembrey Country Park in South Wales.
 
Adventure knows no bounds at the Student Extreme Games where athletes from 50 different universities compete against each other in extreme sports including kite surfing, wake boarding, skiing and snowboarding for the chance to be crowned the Student Extreme Games Champion as well as winning top prizes donated by sponsors. Beach Break ship in a multi-hit, multi-line run that both freestyle skiers and snowboarders can rip into throughout the festival, plus a huge Pool Gap is being built amid the Welsh sands and professional demos and teams from across the country will be offering guidance and throwing down some serious moves across the weekend. As one of the only festivals in the country to offer such a substantial sporting programme, Beach Break Live attracts thousands of watersports and snow enthusiasts every year, providing not only some great opportunities to participate but also some awesome viewing. 

One sports showcase is not enough for Beach Break Live in the Olympic year.  The festival team are working with BBL staples Bearded Kitten to programme the rather more tongue-in-cheek Celtic Games. Causing havoc is the name of this Olympic-themed game as festival goers are invited to get involved in everything from human curling and blind folded long jump to the more serious cheese rolling…  With all this sport and activity taking place, it's no wonder that Beach Break Live's theme for 2012 is 'VIVA LA GAMES', a true homage to the Olympics and all the encouragement that the revellers will need to arrive in togas, spandex and any other sporting clobber at their disposal.

Basking in Britain's games glory is very much the order of Beach Break Live this year.  No festival goer will go untouched from the frenzy of what is set to be a menagerie of mayhem with an Olympic twist.  Set on eight miles of award winning, Welsh beach with a woodland backdrop the festival has it all. Chase & Status, Dizzee Rascal and more for Beach Break Live

Taking place from 14th – 18th June in Pembrey Country Park the four-day extravaganza will welcome the mighty Chase and Status, who will be performing live on Friday, grime maestro Dizzee Rascal who will be topping Saturday's bill and Friendly Fires, who will raise the roof on Sunday, closing what is without doubt the most exciting festival line-up of the summer. With tickets priced from just £109, Beach Break Live will be buzzing with festival goers enjoying the epic line-up and four fun-filled days in the sun which will see everything from Roller Disco's to The Celtic Games.   

Chase & StatusAfter Beach Break Live gave Chase and Status their first ever headline show in 2010, the duo have risen to global stardom pioneering drum and bass in the UK singles chart and bringing the genre to the forefront of the music industry. They will be joined by multi-talented producer and artist in his own right Labrinth, who shot to fame in 2011 with his numerous collaborations and hugely successful singles 'Let The Sun Shine' and 'Earthquake'. BRITs Critics Choice-nominated Maverick Sabrewill stun the crowds with his beautiful voice while hotly tipped London bandClement Marfo & The Frontline will be skanking down in their uniquely urban style. The coveted Delilah will no doubt be performing her single 'GO' which has received huge critical acclaim and resonated with fans across the UK. Dubstep chart toppers Nero will bring hits such as 'Me And You' and 'Promises' to the Beach Break Live Dance Stage.

As with Chase & Status, Beach Break Live is hugely excited to be welcoming the return of another festival favourite, BRITs awards winner Dizzee Rascal who will headline The Dell Main Stage on Saturday. Having stuck with Beach Break through the infamous 2009 site move to perform his first ever headline festival show, Dizzee returns as the notorious icon of the UK grime and urban scene to blow the minds of 20,000 festival goers in Wales. Festival goers will be going 'Bonkers' for everything Beach Break this year, from Zorbing down the 8-mile beach to horseriding through the waves, this festival offers everything fun in one place. 

Dizzee RascalDJ Fresh, who has just reached No. 1 in the UK singles chart, will be showcasing his new live tour, which includes a full band and a tonne of technology as a back drop to his hard hitting bass lines. Since 2010 Wretch 32 has been steadily rising up the charts thanks to breakthrough singles from his hugely successful album 'Black and White'. 2012 is set to continue that trend, if not garner even more success for the grime MC when he performs at this year's Beach Break Live 2012. Embarking on UK tours this February, Beach Break is delighted to be welcoming both Manchester indie rockers The Whip and lyrical genius Ghostpoet to the festival for the first time while the newly appointed BBC Radio 1 contingent Benga [live] and Skream will be offering up the kind of cutting edge drum 'n' bass that has seen them become two of the most talked about DJs and producers in the business.  

The infamous Ghetto Blaster stage is returning yet again to Beach Break Live, true to form artists will be keeping festival goers up into the small hours with a mash up of unique dubstep from Toddla T, Rinse FM's very own Oneman and Glasgows champian DJ and Numbers label founder, Jackmaster, will be spinning the decks with a frenzy of electronic bass and beats. Blawan will also be joining the boys on the Ghetto Blaster stage, hotly tipped producer of 2011 will no doubt be bringing even more to the dance table in 2012. Festival circuit pros DJ Parker, DJ Cheebaand DJ Moneyshot will be spinning the decks in Chai Wallah whilst rising talentsMystery, SDM, MTD and Dutty Dan will also be performing around the site. Propaganda will be starting the post main stage party in the ActionAid tent every night, with some secret DJ sets to top it off!

With the highly anticipated second album from Friendly Fires tantalisingly close to being released, there's little doubt that the St. Albans trio will be a festival highlight for many a Beach Breaker in 2012 when the boys close proceedings on the Dell Main Stage on Sunday. They will be joined by Beach Break regular and rapidly rising singer songwriter Ben Howard while Merlin's Forest is set for the ultimate drum 'n' bass takeover when the one-and-only Hospitality unleash their collective on Sunday.  High Contrast, Netsky, Camo & Krooked, Danny Byrd and more will take to the decks for what promises to be a unforgettable show.

Any university city in the UK has the chance to win the explosive Beach Break Live Line-up Launch Party, this year headlined by the one and only BBC Radio 1 Mistajam. Festival goers around the country can vote for their university city on the Beach Break Live Facebook page here between 1st – 10th February. The winning university city will be announced on 11th February, they will be playing host to a huge party for their students on 22nd Febuary, setting the tone for what is set to be the best Beach Break Live yet. The party will be hosted by maestros of mischief and BBL friends Bearded Kitten who have brought their fun filled antics to every festival from Glastonbury to Secret Garden Party. The widely known promoters will be whipping the crowd into a frenzy with crowd participation antics and the biggest floor fillers around.
