Bearded Theory Festival now SOLD OUT

A record 5,000 tickets have been sold, with just under a fortnight left before the festival takes place.

Headlining the festival are Adam Ant & the Good, the Mad and the Lovely PosseThe Damned and Dreadzone alongside over 100 other live acts including Show of HandsTerrorvision, and The Selecter. Special guests Wheatus have announced they will wear false beards throughout their performance, and will also co-host the festival’s annual world record attempt for the number of people wearing false beards.

Steve Blount from Bearded Theory Festival says, “We are delighted to announce that once again Bearded Theory Festival has sold out. 2012 is turning out to be quite a tough year for festivals across the country so we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has bought tickets for Bearded Theory, making it a sell out for the fifth year running. We look forward to welcoming you all on the 18th May for our biggest and best year ever!”

Taking place between 18th and 20th May 2012, Bearded Theory has firmly entrenched itself as the first ‘proper’ music festival of the season. Currently the holder of the AIM Indepndent Music Award for Best Festival, 2012 is Bearded Theory’s fifth birthday and is a celebration of the music and musicians who either inspired the festival’s inception, or who have become fan favourites over the years.

On Saturday night, Captain Sensible’s Gothic Punk legends The Damned are top of the bill. Incredibly, the greatest number of complaints Bearded Theory’s organisers received last year on any topic, was for not booking Dreadzone for the first time the festival’s history. To make amends, this year they return to close the festival on Sunday night.

Other major acts also confirmed include The Selecter, Show of Hands, The Popes, Terrorvision, Back To The Planet, Dr & The Medics, Credit To The Nation and of course, perennial Bearded Theory favourites, 3 Daft Monkeys
The fabulous Wheatus will be performing the now-legendary Sunday lunchtime slot, and word is they will wear custom made false beards for their entire performance!

Bearded Theory has also confirmed details of a number of exciting changes for 2012. These include a creation of two entirely new areas;Tornado Town (a festival within a festival), and The Water’s Edge. Underlining their commitment to supporting local businesses, the festival have appointed Thornbridge Brewery in Bakwell, (located just 20 miles from the festival), to run their on-site bars.

Steve Blount from Bearded Theory Festival says, “We are delighted to have be named UK’s Best Independent Festival at the prestigious AIM Music Awards in recognition of last year’s fabulous event. Everyone involved in Bearded Theory is already working hard to try and deliver an even better one for next year. With two totally revamped areas and a whole range of new activities planned, 2012 is shaping up to be a vintage year for Bearded Theory Festival.

With a glint in his eye and a spring in his step Rob da Bank said: “We’re mega proud to have sold out Bestival for the seventh year running. Selling 50,000 tickets for a 100% independent festival in the current climate is no mean feat but its all thanks to our wicked crowd of regulars and new Bestivalites and music lovers who have chosen to join us on the Isle of Wight in 3 weeks… Thanks for the support and see you in the magic meadows of Bestival!”

Featuring a colossal 18 stages of live music and DJs, creative mayhem, magical experiences, our Rock Stars, Pop Stars and Divas fancy dress parade, loads of crazy fresh stuff including the Swamp Shack, Roller Disco, Wall of Death, Freesports Park, Crazy Golf, Campsite Hubs, Ambient Forest, Herbert’s Dream and much more, we’re pretty sure it’s going to be our best Bestival yet and we can’t wait!

After its success at this year’s Camp Bestival we’re bringing Kerstin Rodgers’ The Underground Restaurant to the Isle of Wight to give Bestival-goers the chance to enjoy an extravagant three-course sit down meal in the heart of the festival. An experience not to be missed! ??

There will be a wonderful set menu, gorgeous waitresses in vintage French pinnies, vintage mismatched crockery, table linen and a chance to sit down for lunch, dinner or a late supper… always welcome at a festival. Plus on Saturday night only there will be a Pyjama Party themed Midnight Feast! Wear jim-jams, nighties, bring teddies, hot water bottles, dressing gowns, comfy slippers, hair rollers, your pet blanket and have a secret feast under the cover of a supper club. Places are limited though so we highly recommend you book yourself and you friends in now. click here to book (NB: sittings do not clash with the main stage headliners).

As the countdown gets well and truly under way we’ve joined forces with Rapanui Clothing, a brilliant Isle of Wight based eco-fashion company, to create a limited edition pre-event T-shirt for this year’s Bestival. This Organic Cotton T-shirt is made in a wind-powered, Fair Wear Foundation audited factory and is printed on 100% organic cotton. They were transported by ship, not air, are printed with phthalate-free inks and were hand-finished in the UK. A strictly limited edition run, these T-shirts will ONLY be available to order up until 26th August. They will not be on sale at Bestival itself. You can order yours here
Finally, if you were lucky enough to get yourself a Bestival ticket but your circumstances have changed and you can’t make it down to the Isle of Wight now the ONLY place we recommend to re-sell your ticket is www.thetickettrust.com

Likewise, if you would like to purchase a Bestival ticket, the ONLY place we recommend that you go to is www.thetickettrust.com

The Ticket Trust has been created by the Association of Independent Festivals and Sandbag to offer a safe and secure ticket exchange to help correct the secondary ticketing problem. Comprising a group of promoters, artists and music industry professionals embarrassed by what they see happening to tickets to their events – the exploitation of fans’ pockets! The Ticket Trust has created a place where music lovers can exchange unwanted tickets at face value, providing a platform for safe, secure and legitimate ticket exchange – without the over inflated mark-ups. This is the promoters’ and artists’ answer to the secondary ticketing market which seeks to make big profits – taking hard earned cash away from the fans, the musicians and the live events we all love.
Remember to keep on checking www.bestival.net for full line up details and all the up to the minute news.

Saturday Day Tickets sell out at the Just So Festival

The Just So Festival was the brainchild of two mums with a love of the arts and a desire to create a shared experience for families through participation, discovery, wonder and play.

Director Sarah Bird says ‘Day tickets for the Saturday have now completely sold out but we still have weekend camping tickets available as well as day tickets for the Sunday. Our programme of events has more than doubled since last year and there are many performers, workshops and events taking place on both days as well as a great many which are exclusive to the Sunday. Tickets will not be available at the gate, so we would recommend that families planning to come along this year snap them up quickly!

Co-Director Rowan Hoban continues, ‘The response to this year’s festival has been truly amazing. Our early bird tickets and glade camping tickets sold out incredibly quickly after last year’s festival and we are unspeakably excited about welcoming our families into the festival to share what promises to be an extraordinary line up of events.

Some of the many varied highlights of this year’s festival include music from the Zen Hussies and Polly and the Billets Doux; workshops by bestselling authors Adele Geras and David Lucas; a beach installation; circus and pirate training; a midnight feast; digital camera workshops; baby yoga; multisensory and food sculpture as well as appearances from both The Gruffalo and Elmer the elephant.

Rowan Hoban says, ‘This time last year Just So Festival had only existed inside our heads and we couldn’t quite believe it was really happening. We’re so happy that we’re here again; that we’re allowed to call this festival organising lark our job. We think 2011 is going to be even more magical than last year and are ever so grateful to our festival families for coming along and making it what it is.’

Boomtown Fair 2011 SOLD OUT

The organisers released an extra 2,500 tickets just a month ago and now all the passes have been snapped up by bass hungry ‘Boomtowners’ who are revving themselves up for a solid four-days of pure escapism, entertainment and intrigue! With the 2011 festival doubling in size and ambition after the highly successful 2010 festival, this year is promising to be the best yet.

Lak Mitchell, co-director and co-founder of Boomtown says:
“We are over the moon at the support and enthusiasm we’ve had for this year’s festival. Thanks to everyone who has bought a ticket and helped keep the Boomtown dream alive! We can’t wait to open the town gates, the crew have been working solidly for the past 5-weeks to create this alternative, interactive and immersive world and now we just can’t wait to share it with everyone!”

On top of the excellent news that the festival has sold out, it is with sadness that Boomtown also have to announce the cancellation of Barrington Levy, as he has pulled out of several upcoming scheduled dates. Barrington Levy is now unable to keep to his confirmed shows for both Boomtown Fair and Outlook festival. Both festivals have tried everything in their power to ensure the booking was committed to but due to circumstances out of the festival director’s hands the shows have been cancelled. The good news in all this is that Gentleman’s Dub Club, who smashed their show last year and left the crowd pleading for more are now bumped up the bill and will be headlining the Lion’s Den on Saturday night for some high-octane, knee bashing skanking moves!
