BLOODSTOCK 2023 – Final band news & RAM Gallery details

As this year’s event gets ever nearer, BLOODSTOCK is thrilled to announce that Sunday day tickets for 2023 are now SOLD OUT!! Standard weekend tickets remain available but are going quickly, plus a limited day allocation for Friday and Saturday.  Read on for more band news, plus all the details on the RAM Gallery exhibitors, the return of the T-Shirt/CD Amnesty and Planet Rock Signing Tent, plus how to do a one-stop-shop for all your festival essentials.

There’s just 4 weeks to go before the metal hoardes thunder their way onto Catton Park’s hallowed turf! This week the Metal 2 The Masses scheme is closing out this year’s initiative with the final batch of 10 lucky bands who won local heats to score a slot on the New Blood stage.

Friday’s New Blood line up will include the Oxford heat victors, SHOOT TO KILL, who’ll be bringing their metalcore breakdowns and 90s riffs, showcased on their recent video for ‘Crimson’. Also appearing will be modern metal squad, APATHY, whose brutal downtuned guitars and psychedelic soundscapes won out in Devon & Cornwall. Check out their official video for ‘Gravewalker’.

Bournemouth’s winners, TO OBEY A TYRANT also grab a Friday slot. Their blackened deathcore has won many admirers – appraise yourself via their video for ‘Vermillion Moon’. DEVIL’S HENCHMEN picked up the Merseyside prize – watch them bring the retro riffage in the video for ‘Built By Hate’. Grabbing the last Friday slot are South Wales outfit, TORCHBEARER. The four piece dropped their ‘Warrior’ EP just last month, featuring the blistering ‘Catharsis In Karma.’

Grabbing a Saturday New Blood slot will be Cheltenham’s SKORA.  The band’s progressive hardcore sound has made them mainstays of the South West underground scene. Find out why via their video for ‘Harakiri.’ Northampton’s PICTURE THE SCENE also win their place. Having picked up Radio 1 airplay and won Arts Council England support, find out what the fuss is about via this live set from North Acre Studios.  THE DEAD XIII picked up the prize in the Burnley heat. With a couple of albums and Kerrang! Radio airplay under their belts, they’re no strangers to the touring circuit – watch their video for ‘Killers’ here. Picking up Saturday’s final space are Stoke’s winners, BLOODMORES. This four piece take their influences from all corners of the metal realm, leaning heavily in a melodic death direction. Check out their video for ‘Virulence’ taken from their second album, ‘Too Close To The Sun’.

Sunday’s New Blood line up welcomes Nottingham’s winners, BEYOND YOUR DESIGN. The East Midlands four piece blend massive metalcore riffing with melodic hooks and snarling vocals. Watch them take on an assault of marauders in their official video for ‘United We Fall’.

On Sunday morning, over at the Sophie Lancaster Stage, the party also gets started by the winner of Planet Rock Radio’s band competition. Chosen from hundreds of entries, PHOENIX LAKE came out on top. With comparisons to Evanescence, Parkway Drive and Paramore, their debut EP, ‘Beyond The Flames’ has been picking up a ton of attention. Check out their single, ‘Faithless’ to see for yourself.
Due to extenuating circumstances, a number of alterations to the bill have been necessary.  Due to some unforeseen logistical issues out of ZEAL & ARDOR‘s hands, ZEAL & ARDOR are unfortunately not able to perform on Saturday at BLOODSTOCK. Rather than BLOODSTOCKers lose out entirely on what will be a spectacular set, festival management have managed to move the band to Sunday’s Sophie Lancaster stage line up. ZEAL & ARDOR will now play their full 75-minute set, with their full production, directly before headliners, BIOHAZARDKING 810’s set will now move to Thursday and TRIBE OF GHOSTS to Saturday. In addition, EYES have had to withdraw from the festival and will be replaced by AMBRIUS in the Saturday morning opening slot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage.

BLOODSTOCK is also thrilled to announce the exhibitors in this year’s RAM GALLERY, the festival’s unique, purpose-built art space curated each year by festival founder and globally renowned fantasy artist, Paul Raymond Gregory.  Showing across two whole walls of the space will be KILLSWITCH ENGAGE’s bass player & founder of Dark Icon Design, Mike D’Antonio. Mike’s work is featured on many albums from his own band, but you may not know his work litters the heavy music spectrum and also extends to merch including posters, t-shirts, skateboard decks and more, for the likes of 36 Crazyfists, Armored Saint, Crowbar, and Harley Davidson, among numerous others.

BLOODSTOCK is thrilled to be the first ever art space to showcase selects of Mike’s body of work from the ‘other side’ of his impressive career. Also exhibiting at the gallery will be a familiar face to the RAM Gallery, Oliver Andrew (who created the incredible array of handcrafted ‘guitars-as-art’ for the gallery over the years under his Cynosure Guitars moniker). Oliver will be showcasing his new project, ‘Bloodworks’, which sees him using his own blood as the medium for hyper-realistic artworks.

The RAM Gallery also welcomes Dan Seagrave, who’ll be showing 20 outstanding pieces of work, including creations for the likes of ENTOMBED, SUFFOCATION, PESTILENCETHE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and more. Also exhibiting is sculptural artist Paul Cutting, who’ll have a winged masterpiece on show and a metal guitar themed around one of the headlining bands. Another familiar face in the gallery is Liam Brandon Murray, whose incredible, sculptural throne will once more make an appearance for all your gallery selfie needs!

BLOODSTOCK is also pleased to announce the return of the very popular T-SHIRT & CD AMNESTY this year. Dig out your unwanted shirts & discs in good, clean condition and hand ‘em over at the INFORMATION/ROCK SOCIETY tent in the main arena. Then head to the PLANET ROCK SIGNING TENT from 10am-12 Noon, Friday thru Sunday, to grab yourself a pre-loved bargain, as they’ll be selling off donated items to raise money for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Also, stay tuned to BLOODSTOCK’s socials for details of who you’ll be able to meet in the PLANET ROCK SIGNING TENT this year!

While you’re planning your packing, don’t forget that BLOODSTOCK has introduced a dedicated one-stop-shop featuring all those festival essentials. All Hail The Queens: EXIT Festival announce two awe-inspiring, all-female concepts for its 2023 edition

Gender representation on the festival billing has been a big topic in the music Industry for the past few years, and every year, EXIT is working closer towards gender equity in their lineup.
The colossal  Dance Arena will kick-start with an awe-inspiring, all-female lineup, mixing the best and the brightest local female artists with the mighty queens of the international electronic music scene. The famous trench in the medieval Petrovaradin Fortress, dubbed by many as the best dance floor in the world, will welcome Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, Indira Paganotto, Vylana, Tijana T, Miju, and Lanna on July 6th.
Along with the all-female day electronic concept on Dance Arena, EXIT’s Gorski List Main Stage will bring all-female hip hop day on Saturday July 8th, led by the powerful women of the Balkan scene – Senidah, Sajsi MC, Mimi Mercedez, and Kejt.
Many slots on various festival’s stages will feature female artists or bands led by females. Main stage will feature fabulous Charlie Tee, Soki Tukker, Lady Lee/iLee as well as local heavy metal act Jenner and world famous Epica. Dance Arena will also present supertalented Layla Benitez and Gioli & Assia live. Fusion stage is bringing regional stars such as Zoe Kida, Bojana Vunturišević, Freekind and Dina Jashari, while alternative electronic oasis NSNS stage will feature acts such as Anetha, Avalon Emerson, Carlita, Desiree, Raven, Cici, Katalina, Asari and Jovana Takač. One of EXIT’s emerging stages, Gang Beats, dedicated to regional trap scene will feature perfomances by MC’s and vocalists Macha Ravel, tam, Jymenik, Mlada Beba, Thea, Bejbi Motorola, Micka Lifa, Zevin and Pachamama stage will present amazing Vylana Marcus, Hearts Liberated, Laura Escude, Shi Cu, Julija Castellucci, Dragana Balić (Sarasvati Druna Bend) and Klo Klo.
In the world where women are “far less likely to be picked by A&R, far less likely to invest in”, EXIT once again leads the change by signing festival’s youngest ever performer,  Lanna, as the first artist of newly launched Music & Talent Office – EXIT Echosystem. Lanna’s journey to stardom began when she first performed at EXIT at the age of 13, as the youngest-ever act to take the stage at the multiple European festival champion, and she has already performed alongside the most prominent global music stars, including Paul Kalkbrenner and Indira Paganotto. Her ascent will continue as part of the unique all-female concept on Dance Arena on July 6, alongside with the most powerful women of the global electronic music scene – Nina Kraviz, Indira Paganotto, and Amelie Lens!
This years’s edition of EXIT Festival is taking place at Petrovaradin fortress, Novi Sad, Serbia from July 6th to 9th.

Perel, Krystal Klear, and gome offer special treatment for Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s hit tune «YAP» on Not Sorry Music

Kollektiv Turmstrasse presents a beautiful remix package of his last year’s hit tune ‘YAP’, including remixes by Perel, Krystal Klear and gome.
Last year’s hit tune ‘YAP’ returns with a fresh new twist, as Kollektiv Turmstrasse presents three remixes from fellow DJs and producers he personally admires. The ‘YAP’ tune gained a lot of attention when it was originally released, and now it’s back to light up the dancefloor once again.
YAP stands for ‘You Are Perfect,’ and Turmstrasse also launched a vibrant event series under that brand, which he hosted in various cities across Europe, rooted in the core foundations of dance music culture – inclusivity, diversity, open-mindedness, community, and love.
Perel’s remix kicks things off with an uplifting blend of house and techno, giving ‘YAP‘ a refreshing upgrade. According to Perel, “The main theme of YAP feels to me like an emotional wave that goes up and down, like life itself. So, I decided to build my remix using this section as a centrepiece of it. I can’t wait to play this remix in front of a festival crowd – super excited for the release!

Says Perel The remix evolves around the melody theme that comes up in the middle of the original – an emotional wave that goes up and down, like life itself. So I took this section as a centrepiece of my remix and built around new elements such as beat, percussions, bass-line and a little synth sequence. Since I personally love uplifting house and techno, I also decided to speed up the original track so it would fit into my sets. I can’t wait to play this remix in front of a festival crowd – super excited for the release!”

Next up, is Krystal Klear, who’s lately releasing one hit after another on Gerd Janson’s Running Back, giving ‘YAP’ a brand-new face with his pumping disco dance sounds. As a true fan by himself, Turmstrasse was thrilled to get Krystal Klear on board for this remix EP, and he did not disappoint.
Kollektiv Turmstrasse also wanted to showcase some fresh blood – and the DJ and producer duo gome is one of his favourite new artists in the house music circuit. Their various releases on Toy Tonics and other labels impressed Turmstrasse a lot – and so did their remix of YAP. The version of gome is rounded off with a strong old-school house bassline and a bouncy, warm groove that’s perfect for the summer season.
Says gome We felt very honoured when Kollektiv Turmstrasse asked us to remix YAP. We have been big fans of his music since we were young kids discovering the electronic music scene in Germany. Kollektiv Turmstrasse was a name you could not miss. When we sat down in the studio, we tried to give the melancholic yet very driving original a 90s house-inspired twist as the vocals and beats reminded us of this era. We hope you like it.”
The YAP remix EP showcases the versatile, multifaceted profile of Kollektiv Turmstrasse, with influences from house to breaks to techno, and old-school rave to modern electronic sounds, ready to dance the days and nights away this summer.

Berlin’s Community-minded Reflex Festival Announces New Venue for 2023 Edition

This summer, the Reflex Festival will take place for the second time in the heart of Berlin in a brand new location. From 16-18 June 2023, visitors are invited to a unique experience of electronic music culture and performative arts in various forms indoor and outdoor at CLUB MUENZE and ELSE. Both locations will be connected via Bassliner shuttle buses. The two venues offer visitors an organic and special backdrop for the genre-fluid combination of energetic trance and dynamic techno for around four days.

The Reflex Festival was born out of an intimate passion for electronic music culture and aims to inspire people to question predetermined identities, roles and behaviours and to feel free from social conformity for a few days. The festival presents diverse forms of artistic expression, emphasizing tolerance and creativity. Paul Kalkbrenner, the German DJ, and producer known for his unique blend of techno and house music, will be taking the stage at the festival alongside Black Coffee, Maceo Plex, and Stephan Bodzin, who were previously announced.
In addition to these impressive names, DJs from all around the world are heading to Cyprus for the festival to transform the island into something never seen before. Get ready to dance all night with Anna, Brina Knauss, Innellea, Jan Blomqvist, Joplyn, Joyhauser, Kadosh, Karla Blum, Luna Semara, and Oliver Huntemann. Overall, BEONIX will present three different stages, 50 DJs, and more than 30 hours of electronic music.
Located at ETKO, which previously was an old winery, in Cyprus, BEONIX offers a unique combination of music, culture, and technologies. The location has a stunning setting and a rich history, and the festival team will integrate modern technologies and an art installation into the location, making it the perfect destination for those who want to combine their love of electronic music with a cultural experience.
“Everyone is used to closing their festival season in August, but weather conditions in Cyprus make it possible to extend the season until the end of September. We want people to come to the island to relax near the sea by day and dance with us all night long. We want BEONIX to be a safe and inclusive space for everyone willing to show their true colors and be free, but at the same time, be respectful of other people’s boundaries,” commented the BEONIX team.
This year’s concept for the festival is a trip to the 9th planet, based on people’s feedback from last year. The festival was so out of the ordinary for Cyprus events that people started to refer to it as another world or even another planet. So, grab your tickets, and get on board – your journey begins soon.

Festival in Ancient Roman Quarry Gates of Agartha Reveals Addition of Joseph Capriati and more, plus Bespoke Projection Mapping Collaboration with OUCHHH

Gates of Agartha
Cave Romane, Pula, Croatia
June 23 – 24th, 2023

Gates of Agartha – a two day odyssey to the city of Pula, Croatia – today adds Joseph Capriati, Aldo Morro, Lea Kdoch, Marcel b2b Marin Biocic, Mene (who’ll play b2b w/ Pablo Panda) and Zoe Dona to the line-up for the first event from June 23rd – 24th. It is set to be an immersive party that blends the past and the present in Cave Romane, a historic Roman quarry that will also feature  Marco Carola, Damian Lazarus, Dennis Cruz, Chris Stussy, Echonomist, Pablo Panda, The Ace Brothers and more.

The festival has also revealed a bespoke projection mapping show in collaboration with cutting edge media collective OUCHHH, with a visual fusion of history and innovation set to illuminate the towering walls of Cave Romane.

Gates of Agartha comes from the same minds behind the wondrous Echoes from Agartha experience in Cappadocia, Turkey. It is the first of their new destination series events which explore mystical and mythical places around the world where art, culture and history collide.

Joseph Capriati is a bona fide techno tastemaker who has been a resident on the legendary BBC 1 Radio and always shows the breadth and depth of his sound across his sets and productions. He plays a wide range of house, techno, groovy, personal influences and much more having made a big impact in Ibiza at Amnesia with his carefully curated Metamorfosi parties. They were immersive showcases of his skills named after his wide-ranging debut album Metamorfosi on his own Redimension label.

This all goes down in a spectacular location – Cave Romane is a roman quarry that was used for centuries by the Romans to extract a type of stone called Istrian limestone. It was a vital material in the construction of many important buildings in the Roman Empire, including the Colosseum in Rome and features immersive and cutting edge lighting technology as well as world class sounds systems.

As well as the music, the historic city offers a wealth of local culture to explore from ancient architecture to modern marketplaces, local cuisines and so much more.

This is a magical escape to an ancient world but with a contemporary soundtrack from the very sharp end of the melodic house and techno spectrum. Tickets available here.

Best Pics from TRIIP Fest

World renowned Australian DJ Fisher has just curated his first festival of the year in Europe.

TRIIP festival was a magical three day getaway in Malta at the start of June with a superb outdoor and open air Main Stage as well as boat, pool, castle and beach parties.

It had a superb line up, great weather and next level production with mesmeric lights, lasers and great organisation throughout.

Here are the five best sets we loved the most.

356 Group

Solardo

This tech house pair have taken their sound from Manchester to the world. They do it all from deep to jacked up and never let the energy levels drop. They played plenty of classic sounds and really made their mark.

Claptone

This deep hose shaman cast his fine spell once more from behind his legendary bird mask. The grovers were deep, with plenty of soul and many of his own tunes weaved in with some classics. A real spine tingling set.

Nora En Pure

There are few more emotive Das than South Africa’s Nora En Pure, who waves mesmeric melodies that really fill you with special feelings. Her mixing is tight and smooth and the set seamless.

Paco Osuna

Span’s Paco Osuna is one of the biggest draws in Ibiza each summer so it was great he nipped over to Malta to serve up his loopy techno sounds. They are dark and heady and really got the crowd locked in for the duration.

Eats Everything

If you want a big, playful set full of bass from across the spectrum, look no further than East Everything. The Bristol man went big and didn’t disappoint with huge drops and lots of epic vocals. It was a real standout that got massive reactions.
