ANNOUNCED FOR SW4 SATURDAY…
SOLOMUN VS ÂME · SASHA · CARL CRAIG FEAT. ‘MAD’ MIKE BANKS [LIVE]
THE GALLERY 20TH ANNIVERSARY STAGE WITH ALY & FILA, ANDREW RAYEL, MARLO
Two powerhouses go head to head at South West Four this summer as we bring you Solomun vs Âme. This world exclusive set from the label heads of two of dance music’s most loved imprints, Diynamic and Innervisions, represents a performance these shores has never seen before and may never see again. Both Solomun and Âme are no strangers to SW4 having both debuted in 2013 and 2012 respectively. Since then they have gone onto shine bright as two of the leading names in underground house music. 2014 witnessed Solomun continue his trailblazing ‘+1’ residency at Pacha Ibiza and mix the first Global Underground City series compilation in four years, which he devoted to his home city Hamburg. Âme has enjoyed similar success over the past twelve months, culminating in the house juggernaut hitting the #3 spot in the Resident Advisor Top 100 DJs poll of 2014. Collectively we can expect a sublime and emotionally rousing set that will bring together two great minds for a performance none of us will ever forget…
Over the years Sasha has contributed hugely to our history, from headlining the inaugural instalment of the festival in 2004 and then again in 2009, to debuting his own ‘Last Day on Earth’ stage last summer. In 2015 he returns to our main stage for the first time in five years, where he will play directly before Faithless’ huge homecoming live performance. So far this year Sasha has thrilled his fans with the release of his first solo single in four years titled ‘Vapourspace’, which follows in the path of his widely-played remix of London Grammar and collaborations with James Teej and Joel Mull. With the man on a purple patch at present, make sure you come witness the master control his playground as Sasha returns to South West Four.
Two Detroit legends go head to head this summer at South West Four on Saturday 29th August as we present Carl Craig featuring ‘Mad’ Mike Banks Live in a full UK festival exclusive. Having been responsible for one of the standout performances at ADE 2014, the coming together of these two musical innovators makes this one of the most anticipated sets of the entire weekend. Carl is of course no stranger to Clapham Common having brought his ‘Innerzone Orchestra’ to South West London in 2009, followed by a very special DJ set in 2013. With a discography which includes many of techno’s finest moments, Carl has spent the past three decades staying true to the sound he has helped define and his sets are a reflection of the rich musical heritage of the Motor City. He will be joined by Underground Resistance founder ‘Mad’ Mike Banks, who will invoke the jazz-infused techno spirit of his Detroit collective by playing live on keys. One for the heads.
As musicians go, there are few in the world as accomplished as our next act. A true pioneer, we are excited to announce that Berlin-based Henrik Schwarz will make his South West Four debut with an exclusive live performance. As a producer, his ability to bridge the gap between classical and modern-day electronic sounds is unrivalled, whilst as a composer his eclectic approach to composition and sound design is also in a league of its own. On top of a diary bursting with dates in every continent, 2015 also welcomes the release of his latest album ‘Instruments’, which will be showcased live on Clapham Common. Having fought off fierce competition for his brilliance, Henrik is another Innervisions favourite that we can’t wait to welcome this summer.
In just a few short years, the brilliant multi-dimensional duo Pan-Pot have created a dominating presence in the underground scene. As an act we’ve always had on our hit list, we are excited to welcome the Mobilee Records artists to Clapham Common for the first time this summer. 2014 witnessed the pair play the main room at Time Warp’s 20th Anniversary, command leading slots at Awakenings and Mysteryland and deliver stellar performances at Watergate, Elrow, Hyte and Music On. At SW4 Saturday the pair will remind us of their outstanding talents, making them one of the most exciting acts of the day.
Also making their maiden voyage on the good ship SW4 this year are underground giants Pleasurekraft. Originating from Stockholm and Washington respectively, Kalle and Kaveh are two of a kind. Founders of the outstanding Kraftek imprint, the techno-driven duo are regularly found leading the charge at many of the world’s greatest parties. Highlights of 2014 included summer dates at Space’s Elrow, ANTS at Ushuaia as well as at Defected’s and Suara’s Ibiza showcases. With production at the forefront of their agenda, this year has already seen them team up with Tiger Stripes to remix Cajmere’s ‘Satisfy’, whilst their edit of Green Velvet’s ‘Genedefekt’, alongside Carlo Lio, is also set for imminent release. On course to be one of the Saturday’s must-see SW4 debuts, it is one we strongly advise you do not miss.
After the recent sell out success of their Deeper Sessions event at Brixton’s superb auditorium Electric, we can announce that Tube & Berger’s next trip to the Capital will be at South West Four. Playing the festival on Saturday 29th August in their exclusive London summer play, the German-duo will be joined by Kittball label-mate Paji, who plays live. The past twelve months have seen the house and disco favourites continue to add to their arsenal of peak-time weapons with further releases on Defected, Get Physical and their own imprint, all receiving critical acclaim.
THE GALLERY 20TH ANNIVERSARY STAGE WITH
ALY & FILA, ANDREW RAYEL, MARLO + MORE TBA
Ever since its inception back in 1995, The Gallery has become nothing short of a Great British institution. Having started its journey at Farringdon’s infamous Turnmills, 2008 witnessed the UK’s longest running Friday night club event move south of the river to Elephant & Castle’s world famous Ministry of Sound. 2015 marks The Gallery’s twentieth birthday, a milestone seldom reached in clubland. A series of events have been curated to celebrate this achievement which will culminate in spectacular fashion at South West Four on Saturday 29th August, as The Gallery hosts its own arena. Having spearheaded the UK trance movement for two decades, this carefully programmed stage will feature ten of the very best and freshest names in the scene, three of which can be revealed now…
Hailed as The Kings of Egypt, Aly & Fila have become internationally recognised as leaders of the contemporary trance sound. Unrivalled at fusing vintage synths with poignant vocals and tough basslines, their commitment to the genre’s more traditional roots has garnered a dedicated army of global followers. That has been illustrated in the Capital, where they hold court at the Ministry as one of The Gallery’s all-time favourite guests. Last August Fadi delivered a spectacular set to a sun-kissed Clapham Common, whilst 2015 marks Aly & Fila’s return for an even bigger performance.
Tagged as a modern-day Mozart and a leading talent in today’s trance scene, South West Four is delighted to welcome back Armada’s Andrew Rayel. Since finding a solid home on the A State of Trance and Armind Recordings imprints, Rayel’s worldwide demand has grown ten-fold. His last UK performance was at a roadblocked Gallery in December, so we knew we had to get him back to SW4 for a summer display of his much-lauded sounds. With support flocking in from all his peers including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and W&W amongst others, Andrew is well on his way to adding himself to the trance hall of fame. SW4 please rise…
Signed to Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music, we are pleased to welcome one of trance’s hottest rising stars to SW4 for a rare UK performance. Having made an outstanding impression at The Gallery in early 2014, we can’t wait to welcome MaRLo back to London. Voted Australia’s #1 DJ thanks to a string of popular euphoric productions that have ridden high in the Beatport Top 10, Dutch-born, Australian-raised MaRLo joins the SW4 bill on the best form of his career. With standout deliveries at ASOT 700, EDC Mexico and Ultra already under his belt for 2015, we simply know he won’t disappoint.
As part of the evolution from Lytham Proms into Lytham Festival the event is welcoming broader genres to the proceedings, and there are fewer more qualified to bring dance music to the plate than Faithless. Vocalist Maxi Jazz and multi instrumentalists Sister Bliss and Rollo are founding members of the group who have enjoyed huge success in the UK and beyond. Top ten singles and dance floor anthems are found throughout Faithless’ back catalog such as the tracks ‘Insomnia’, ‘God is a DJ’ and ‘We Come 1’. Faithless recorded six gold and platinum selling albums during their glittering career and picked up the Best Dance Act award at 2007’s UK Festival Awards. In 2011 the band announced a hiatus but four years later the news of their return has been heralded as one of this summer’s hottest tickets. Faithless will appear at Lytham Festival as headliners of the Lytham Green stage on Thursday 6th August.
Ahead of their Lytham Festival appearance Sister Bliss said:
"We look forward to playing our only date in Lancashire this summer and to celebrating our 20 years together as a band with as many of you as possible."
Commenting on the booking Lytham Festival Director Peter Taylor adds:
“Dance music is increasingly gathering its own rich history and we’re very happy to be part of celebrating that fact with the ‘Faithless 20’ show. Raving days may be a thing of the past for some but the surroundings of Lytham Festival and the Green stage are the perfect place for people to revisit the classic tunes that Faithless are so well known for. We’re also excited that with the addition of dance music the festival can open its doors to a more diverse group of music fans this summer.”
Having expanded to a two day camping even for its 5th birthday High Definition festival returns in July with the biggest lineup yet. Headlining the Sunday will be groundbreaking collective Rebel Sound.
Debuting last year at London’s legendary Earl’s Court, bass superstars Chase & Status, legend of the mic MC Rage, original digital soundboy Shy FX and soundclash king David Rodigan made history with their debut Rebel Sound performance. Unleashing a slew of big name dubplates, their show was unmatchable and not to be missed when they rock up at High Definition for what promises to be one of the defining sets of the weekend.
Set in the stunning surrounds of EridgePark in Tunbridge Wells and featuring only the best in live electronic music and some of the finest DJs on the planet, High Definition has gained an enviable reputation as one of the most progressive electronic music festivals on the planet.
Calling Festival unleashes its inner beast as Modest Mouse and Wolf Alice are announced to join Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Ryan Adams and the Shining, The Hives and Echo and the Bunnymen on the 2015 bill. Calling Festival takes place on Saturday 4 July in London’s Clapham Common. Tickets are on sale now available at www.livenation.co.uk.
Modest Mouse will make a debut performance at this year’s Calling Festival. The US rockers have packed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, showcasing their incredible live performances which feature a cacophony of guitars, violins, horns, keyboards and drum kits, creating an unforgettable, electrifying live set. A new album, Strangers To Ourselveswill be released later this month.
Wolf Alice, led by the stunning Ellie Rowsell, are also confirmed. Get ready for thunderous riffs and sweat-drenched moshing to tracks like ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, plus moments of utter bliss and velvety tones on the tune ‘Blush’.
Y Not has added some indie, rock and pop legends in the form of ex-Smiths man Johnny Marr and Ocean Colour Scene, as the Derbyshire-based festival celebrates its 10th year in style.
Following last month's announcement, which included Snoop Dogg, Primal Scream and Basement Jaxx as the festival's three headliners, the festival has thrown in yet more iconic talent to the mixture for the weekend of July 31st-August 2nd.
Marr comes to the festival fresh from receiving an NME award for 'Godlike Genius', and while he made his name with 'The Smiths' and to younger audiences as guitarist with 'The Cribs', his solo catalogue is bursting full of punchy tunes. Ocean Colour Scene themselves have been celebrating their 25th anniversairy, and will finish their summer at the festival.
Other additions to the line-up come in the form of Florida's ska-punk faves Less Than Jake, and another American act, indie trio We Are Scientists. Y Not favourites, Reverend & the Makers return after a few years away, while hard rock bands like Don Broco, Augustines and Young Guns add another element to the line-up.
Nottingham's very own Indiana adds a tinge of electro-pop, with The Lancashire Hotpots bringing comedy folk to the stage. Japanese psychedelic act Bo Ningen, alt-R&B and 'Game of Thrones' actor Raleigh Ritchie, with Hacktivist adding their own brand of rap and metal to proceedings.
Mancunian grunge band Nine Black Alps and Sheffield stars Rolo Tomassi keep things alive and kicking, while The Bohicas, rockers LTNT and Solemn Sun add more rock to the line-up. Blues singer Kim Churchill and the soulful Jake Isaacs add a softer touch to proceeders, while Zoax round off the latest line-up announcement with their brand of hardcore metal.
Y Not Festival 2015 also has acoustic stars Saint Raymond and Nick Mulvey, rockers We Are the Ocean and Pulled Apart By Horses. BBC Sound of 2015 shortlisters, Slaves are also on the bill, as are Rae Morris, Honeyblood, Gengahr, Allusondrugs and KIng Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys among other acts. Tickets are priced from £89.50 and can be found at Ynotfestivals.co.uk.

The UK’s premier underground music event Eastern Electrics Festival is proud to reveal the first phase of headliners for 2015 along with all 8 stages that make up this epic day of electronic music and sunshine revelry. In the coming months, each stage will reveal their own specially curated line-ups in full, showcasing a selection of artists more stellar and eclectic than ever before. Bringing over 50 DJs and live acts to the majestic grounds of Hatfield House plus all the usual glittery high jinks, Eastern Electrics Festival is once again the most unmissable date in the UK festival calendar for the most adventurous and mischievous of house and techno lovers.
On 1st August, 2015 a sizeable chunk of house & techno’s elite will descend on Hatfield House in Hertfordshire for a hedonist day of playtime, music and dancing. As always the festival will have its own branded stage Eastern Electrics providing a focal point for the day and serving up some of the finest selectors on the global circuit.Headlining that stage this year is none other than UK homegrown superstar Jamie Jones, a regular fixture in the illustrious warehouse days of Eastern Electrics and one of the highlights of EE Festival 2012. Jamie Jones, under his varying guises of DJ, producer and label owner is a relentless talent and quite rightly one of the most successful and omnipresent artists in the business. One quarter of Hot Natured and head of the Hot Creations imprint as well as off-shoots Hot Trax and now new sister label Emerald City, Jamie Jones is the pioneering force for funk laced dance music. Joining him on the main stage is Argentinian techno artist Guti, bringing his all conquering live show to the proceedings. A fusion of techno, jazz and his latin roots, the classically trained Guti and Desolat favourite is sure to captivate the crowd.
Skreamism will be taking over the Big Top stage, showcasing a line-up of epic proportions starting with Floorplan (aka Detroit techno god Robert Hood), Hot Creations affiliate Richy Ahmed and of course, Croydon dubstep pioneer Skream, who having embarked on a love affair with house and disco is hotting up those circles with a new album in the pipeline for Crosstown Rebels and some dedicated DJ sets. Over at the Switchyard, everyone’s favourite stage, tINI and the Gang will preside with the queen herself tINI leading the pack. One of Germany’s most highly acclaimed female house and techno artists and a protege of Loco Dice and the Desolat crew, tINI is assembling a particularly special line-up for Eastern Electrics.
Black Butter Records make their debut at the festival with their own stage, leading topping their bill with UK garage legend DJ EZ. An undisputed party starter ever since his pioneering hey day, a set from EZ generates about as much fun as is commonly decent, get ready to be taken on a nostalgia trip with some extra bang for your buck. Having seen a meteoric rise in recent years, Black Butter Records is the blueprint for future-facing pop infused dance music. Taking a mix of underground sounds and chucking in a blender with stand out vocalists and undeniably hooky cuts, Eastern Electrics is super proud to have them on board for 2015.
Gloria’s stage, situated on the edge of the Electric City will be helmed by Sink The Pink and XOYO and they proudly present the founding father of house music Lil’ Louis as their first headliner. A pinnacle of the Chicago scene from as young as 16 yrs old, Louis In 1977, organised the world’s first “rave” and there’s still no question of his relevance today. From his groundbreaking house records to his crazy energy behind the decks, you couldn’t be in safer hands for a rave up. To round things off in classic style, UK club institution Sankey’s will be joining with a stage headed up by another UK institution, Steve Lawler. From his highly coveted Cream residency at the age of 22 to his countless high-calibre residencies in Ibiza and around the world, Steve Lawler has been a mainstay on the scene since the dawn of the UK house explosion and will no doubt be bringing the heat to Hatfield House.
Lovebox are proud to announce two incredible headliners: Rudimental and Snoop Dogg. Rudimental are the Hackney quartet and Black Butter records breakout act that defined the sound of current UK music with their debut album Home, which featured the massive singles 'Feel the Love' and 'Waiting All Night'. Their set at Lovebox will see them performing tracks from their eagerly-awaited, incoming sophomore LP and they'll be sure to start the party off right when they headline on Fri-day: "We are so happy to announce we're back on the Lovebox stage this summer. London, are you ready?!"
Saturday sees the one and only Snoop Dogg headlining. A hip hop icon, the inimitable Snoop will be showcasing tracks from his forthcoming Pharrell-produced album BUSH, which Snoop himself describes as blos-soming with a "funkadelic glow". With BUSH set to channel feel-good, retro-futuristic funk and R&B, it's sure to charm the Lovebox crowd as effortlessly as his classic tracks 'Gin and Juice' and 'What's My Name' will. Snoop says: “London wats craccn!?! I’m looking forward to come to my home away from home and rock that ish like I do best. It’s going down don’t meet me there beat me there. ugot2doit”
Across the entire weekend, the Lovebox masses will be treated to an ex-clusive set from Despacio, the innovative, custom-built soundsystem brought to you by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and 2manydjs. This is going to be an unmissable experience.
Another Lovebox exclusive is an extra-special A/V set from the revered Bonobo. His appearance is set to be immersive and unforgettable, as is Squarepusher's – his pioneering, experimental shows have wowed crowds the world over, and now he's set to stun Lovebox following a sold out show at the Barbican and the release of his highly-anticipated sixteenth album Damogen Furies.
Lovebox founders, Groove Armada return back to Victoria Park. The leg-endary dance duo will be behind the decks in a very special setting, and are delighted to be back. "First it was an album title. Then club nights in a strip club on Tottenham Court Road. Then it became a festival when we threw an outdoor party on Clapham Common,” they say. “Finally, on Victoria Park, we found ourselves running a 65,000 person weekender. For the first time since handing over the keys to Lovebox in 2012, we're coming back to the park. Friday 17th July, on the Elrow turntables along-side Jackmaster, Acid Mondays, PBR and others. House music GA style, a London debut of a new house album, and trademark elrow circus may-hem."
Meanwhile, acclaimed composer and experimentalist Nils Frahm will al-so be making an appearance fresh from selling out the Barbican and two nights at The Roundhouse. This will also be his only festival appearance other than Wilderness, where he’ll be warming up for the one and only Björk.
The rest of the line-up is equally as incendiary. Electro pop mavericks Hot Chip will be showcasing material from their highly anticipated sixth album “Why Make Sense?”, as well as fan favourites such as “Over and Over” and “Ready for the Floor”. The bewitching Jessie Ware will be gracing us with her elegant, heart-melting ballads, whilst Mark Ronson, fresh from conquering the charts with the epic disco grooves of “Up-town Funk”, will be making a return appearance. Hip hop heavyweights Cypress Hill will be making their Lovebox debut, performing iconic tracks from their extraordinary 20 year (and counting) career, Swedish art pop quartet Little Dragon will be bringing their brand of wonky but delirious-ly catchy art-pop to the Lovebox masses, and award-winning Australian electronic artist Flume will also be getting the crowd moving.
Elsewhere, oddball rapper Danny Brown and New York MC Action Bron-son will be representing the cream of US hip hop, while the pop contin-gent will be satisfied by the presence of the rapidly ascending Ella Eyre and Australian sensations Flight Facilities. The dance mobs meanwhile will be sated by a stellar run of acts, including wunderkind bedroom producer Kaytranada, the ever influential Annie Mac, who has just tak-en the reins from Zane Lowe at Radio 1, and house legend MK, who says "I realize that I have more friends in London than at home, so it's kinda like I'm having a Lovebox house warming party ;)”.
There is so much else besides as well, with Lovebox presenting a magnif-icent assembly of acts both on the rise and well established, from all across the musical spectrum. We have the heroic likes of Goldie, Jimmy Edgar, Kerri Chandler, Boddika, Shy FX & Stamina MC and Gilles Peter-son rubbing shoulders alongside nascent talent such as Lion Babe, Jackmaster, Little Simz, Raury, Dusky, Dornik, Novelist and Preditah, among others. There are also live collaborations between the hottest names in dance, with Joy Orbison B2B with Ben UFO, and Heidi B2B with Kim Ann Foxman.
Lovebox is thrilled to welcome 1Xtra and Radio 1 Essential Mix to the proceedings who will be hosting the hottest dance stage on Friday and Saturday respectively. From legends to new stars this is a stage set to take Lovebox by storm.
Music aside, Secret Productions' magical extracurriculars will provide an exciting itinerary of audiovisual delights for festivalgoers to sample and experience. Chris Tofu (AKA the Shangri-La superstar) and Global Local Productions will once again preside as Master of Ceremonies at the Bandstand, whilst Little Gay Brother will be bringing a bit of Vegas glamour to Victoria Park. Meanwhile, art/ technology “data visualisers” Fish Island Labs will be getting the crowds thinking and interacting.
This year will also see elrow hit London for a special Lovebox edition of their legendary, wild, chaotic Barcelona club night that interacts with its crowds in a very unique way. Explosive DJ sets will soundtrack playtime featuring inflatables, fancy dress, arcade games and so much more. It's a complete riot of fun, confetti, and offbeat characters and Lovebox can't wait to see elrow bring some sunny Spanish vibes (with a Bollywood twist) to Victoria Park for the first time.
There’ll be more sunshine from The Corona Sunsets Stage, which will bring the sounds of the Balearics to Lovebox, heralding the setting of the sun in the time honoured fashion and heightening the energy as the night progresses into darkness. They’ll be bringing the sound of the beach to Victoria Park in a magical setting.
A new project between The Roundhouse and Secret Forum will also be making its debut at Lovebox. The Voicebox will be a celebration of the human voice, with poetry slams, storytelling, beatboxing and more. Lovebox-goers will experience a variety of orators, poets, slam champi-ons, beatboxers and more that will hypnotise you with the power of speech. The Roundhouse says "We are thrilled to be launching a new venue dedicated to upcoming spoken word artists at Lovebox this sum-mer…. !".
