Over 160 acts announced for Boomtown 2017

Boomtown have just announced their first wave of acts for Chapter 9, showcasing the festival’s signature mix of expansive genres, with unique acts spearheading a vast roster of talent. Joining previously announced 2 Tone ska legends The Specials are; hip hop pioneers Cypress Hill, world infused London M.I.A., multi award winning Arrested Development, reggae superstar Toots and the Maytals, 90s legends Chaka Demus & Pliers, sounds from cult classic film with The Original Blues Brothers Band, folk-punk star Frank Turner, Bob Marley’s eldest son and founding member of the ‘Melody Makers’ Ziggy Marley and folk-rock act Newton Faulkner.

The 60,000 capacity Hampshire festival is the only fully immersive music and theatrical festival in the UK and have followed up their storyline trailer for 2017 by announcing over 160 artists spanning a huge variety of genres, including reggae, folk, jazz, world, dub, dancehall, ska, house, techno, garage and a whole lot more…

The world's biggest reggae stage, the Lion’s Den will again host some of the largest names in reggae, dancehall and hip hop. Long coveted ska legends The Specials lead the line up, alongside multi-platinum progenitors Cypress Hill, the unique sounds of M.I.A. blending world music with hip hop for an electrically conscious set. Returning to Boomtown for the first time since 2010 Toots & The Maytals will be bringing Jamaican spirit to the Lion’s Den stage and debut appearance by Ziggy Marley sees him following in the footsteps of many of his family members by making the Lion’s Den his home… Keeping things in the family with the Bonner Brothers, in the world of reggae music few families rival these brothers’ success featuring; Richie Spice, Spanner Banner, Snatcha Lion, Sheperd Bonner & Pliers, the latter of which will be bringing along his legendary sparring partner Chaka Demus! From stalwart legends to the new wave of roots reggae coming out of Jamaica, often referred to as 'the reggae revival' The Lion’s Den will be welcoming Raging Fyah, Jah9, Iba Mahr, Runkus alongside the scene's leading figure, Protoje.

"We've known about playing Boomtown for some time & it's been really difficult to keep it secret. Everybody has been saying 'it would be great if you played Boomtown' & all we could say is 'yeah'. Well, we are playing Boomtown …..YEAH!!!" The Specials

Moving on to the Town Centre stage, which pulls in genre leaders from across all the main stages into one melting-pot; Hampshire superstar, Frank Turner, will be back on home soil after his North American tour to rouse the audience with his anthemic folk-punk. Arrested Development’s alternative hip hop will again be welcomed back; there will be sunny Californian ska punk from Sublime with Rome, chest thumping gospel and uplifting sing along tunes from The Original Blues Brothers Band. Electronic dancehall infused metal band Skindred are set to whip the crowd into a frenzy, while Reel Big Fish will be throwing back some iconic ska-punk, along with the carefree, jam-centric good times from Slightly Stoopid, And lastly, but not least, one of the first ever bands to grace Boomtown’s Town Centre stage back in 2009, the much loved and admired The Wurzels will undoubtedly be a crowd pleaser among the Boomtown faithful.

One of the festival’s most visually stunning immersive street sets, The Wild West transports attendees back into a Western filled with saloons and cowboys, hosting some of the most internationally renowned folk and world at The Old Mines stage. Alabama 3 fuse country with house and spoken word, while Newton Faulkner’s percussive songwriting takes folk rock to a different level. Irish folk group Kíla leave spines tingling with seamless instrumentation and Congolese group Mbongwana Star bring Afro-house to the stage mixing percussion with bass.

Back for it’s second year, The Windmill, set in tranquil and exploratory Whistlers Green, harks back to the very first UK music festivals with a largely jazz line up consisting of some of the country's most respected new forward thinking jazz trailblazers such as: Mercury nominees GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Soweto Kinch, and The Comet Is Coming; Mobo Winners Sons Of Kemet and the simply not to be missed all-female septet Nérija. And topping this soulful and thought provoking stage will be the dub poetry of Benjamin Zephaniah & the Revolutionary Minds.

The vibrant carnival district of Barrio Loco invites attendees to lose their inhibitions in a playground of festivity. Scene shapers Ben UFO & Mr Scruff & Joy Orbison will be playing an epic five and half hour collaborative set, in a one-off outing exclusive to Boomtown’s flagship house and techno venue Vamos. The celebration of dance culture doesn’t stop there and will also be welcoming founding father of Detroit techno Carl Craig, along with one of the UK’s greatest ever techno producers, who’s been crafting classic tracks for over two decades, Dave Clarke. As well as minimal house supplied by German duo Booka Shade performing live, and fellow German, Berlin based electro producer Boys Noize heading up the jam packed line-up which also includes the House Gospel Choir, Dusky, Monki, Solardo, and many more.

Over in Barrio Loco’s other main venue, Poco Loco, versatility and quality are the order of the day, with newcomer Loyle Carner’s ‘sensitive and eloquent’ hip hop with grime rapper A J Tracey providing a seamless flow over trap music. Other headliners include Chali 2na & Krafty Kuts, High Focus Records’; Ocean Wisdom and The Four Owls, plus more to be announced.

The awe inspiring Sector 6 stage will again be captivating the crowds with its stunning architecture and pyrotechnic displays alongside a fresh new soundtrack including; genre hopping bass loving Shy FX, Radio 1 resident Toddla T spreading feelgood carnival vibes, and Shogun Audio will be bringing the underground sounds of Bristol bass scene for a four hour takeover. More acts for Sector 6 still to be announced.

Newly upgraded multimedia hub of Bang Hai Tower, the festival’s biggest and most ambitious stage to date, will welcome dubstep originator, Rusko, self-formed and unequivocally adept garage supergroup TQD (Royal T, DJ Q & Flava D) going B2B with the formidable Bristolians My Nu Leng and Dread MC in a never before seen world exclusive and Exit Records will be hosting the cream of electronic music courtesy of the label takeover featuring D-Bridge, Skeptical, Alix Perez, Fracture and SP:MC. More acts to be announced.

This first headliners release covers just a few of the acts that can be found on eight of Boomtown’s 25 main stages. Full district announcements are still to come and will be released throughout February and March.

PLUS DJ SETS FROM (A-Z)
CAMELPHAT, CLAPTONE, GOLDIE VS MY NU LENG, HYPE B2B HAZARD, JULIO BASHMORE, KC LIGHTS, KUNGS, SASASAS

CAMELPHAT
An unprecedented twelve months has seen Camelphat capture the hearts of revellers around the world with charismatic productions and invigorating showcases. As proved by new release ‘The System’ achieving Top 10 status in Beatport’s ‘Deep House’ chart and EP ‘Deets’ commended by industry champions such as Pete Tong. Expect these guys to fire things up on the Common.

CLAPTONE
Returning for a third time, this mysterious enigma prepares for another aural assault at SW4. That jazzy re-work of ‘Liquid Spirit’ was labeled last year’s feel good anthem, with widespread acclaim catapulting Claptione into the elite of electronic music. Since then a capacity show at London’s illustrious Electric Brixton, regular performances at Ministry of Sound plus Amnesia Ibiza amongst others and the burgeoning popularity of Claptone’s raucous parties under ‘The Masquerade’ banner – deem this a flagship inclusion for 2017 .

GOLDIE VS MY NU LENG
With a career spanning over two decades Goldie is regarded a true legend. His OBE recognition is instrumental in inspiring not only aspiring artists but industry peers too! Fitting then this household name makes a SW4 debut on Saturday, for one of the Capital’s most anticipated festival appearances this summer. But don’t forget the best things come in pairs!

So to form an ear splitting ensemble, Goldie is joined by My Nu Leng – current trailblazers in bass music for a B2B of epic proportions! The Bristol based duo may be relative newcomers but are cherished within the scene for production skills second-to-none and an incomparable sound. Earning regular airtime on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, this exposure has led to global recognition in record time.

HYPE B2B HAZARD
Known for CDJ wizardry and a jaw dropping dexterity behind the decks, DJ Hype is amongst the most respected ever ambassadors for D&B. His trend setting label ‘Playaz’ has gone from strength to strength with a standout residency at Fabric, crowned by a jump-up style and technical ability which mystifies the dance floor.

Joining our main man will be the protégé himself! In just a few years, Hazard has knocked out anthems aplenty and is now recognized as an outstanding producer. A force to be reckoned with, this exclusive London back to back a proud addition to this year’s roster.

JULIO BASHMORE
Julio’s distinctive sound dictates he always stands tall from the crowd, taking influence from icons such as Daft Punk and Cassius. Managing to hone his sound down the years to produce some of the most accomplished house music tracks of recent times. Pushing a unique sound to earn endorsements from Annie Mac and Carl Cox, as well as headline shows throughout Europe on a regular basis. So onwards and upwards as Julio joins an array of the scene’s stalwarts to make his long awaited SW4 debut on Saturday 26th August.

KC LIGHTS
In 2015, KC Lights illuminated the house music genre as ‘No No No’ became the definitive Ibiza anthem of that year. The smash hit soared to No.3 and No.10 respectively in the dance charts for Radio 1 and Shazam, leading to Annie Mac proclaiming ‘Yes Yes Yes’ for inclusion in her namesake compilation ‘AM Presents…’ A career defining moment then, which has continued to grow with frequent collaborations and performances alongside heavyweights MK, Rudimental, Danny Howard and Hannah Wants. We are super stoked for this Glaswegian producer to bring his melodic and fresh beats to South West Four!

KUNGS
The last twelve months has been a whirlwind for the fledgling producer, as Kungs continues to forge a unique and distinct niche. His remix of ‘This Girl’ erupted into the charts, claiming top spots in Germany, France, Russia, Switzerland and receiving prestigious ‘Platinum’ status in both Britain and Australia. At just twenty years old, this young age belies a tour itinerary which has included playing alongside David Guetta, NERVO and Robin Schulz. Plus with the excitement which surrounded debut album ‘Layers’ still very much lingering, Kungs at SW4 will be class.

NETSKY
Adored by fans worldwide, Netsky’s talents both in the studio and whilst performing knows no limits. From humble beginnings to selling out stadium sized shows in all four continents, Netsky has become a mainstay at South West Four. Recently announcing his own stage at ‘Tomorrowland’ and selling out a series of tours with both his live and DJ concepts, the man from Antwerp has never seen so many accolades! A favourite with the Clapham Common faithful we can’t wait to welcome him back.

SASASAS
What do you get when combining six of the slickest MCs and DJs in Drum and Bass? Think a sonic boom of energy and explosion of intense sound, an unrivaled experience that’s not to be missed! The collective consisting of Harry Shotta, Stormin’, Shabba D, Skibadee, Macky Gee and DJ Phantasy have already performed a host of recent sell out shows and specifically chose SW4 as next on the hit list. An ever-growing fan base and unbelievable buzz meant we had no option but to duly accept.

Scotland’s announces new festival Trnsmt with Radiohead, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro and more

Taking place at Glasgow Green from 7th – 9th July, 2017, TRNSMT will feature headline performances from Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro. The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Belle & Sebastian, London Grammar, George Ezra, Two Door Cinema Club, Twin Atlantic, The Kooks, Blossoms, Rag‘n’Bone Man, Circa Waves and many more to be announced, form the line-up for one of the most highly anticipated music events of the Scottish summer. This truly award-winning line-up, with a mighty 72 BRITs, Grammy Awards, Ivor Novello and Mercury Music Prize award nominations bestowed to the artists on the bill, is unyielding in its quest to provide the greatest experience of the summer for music fans.

Glasgow Green will play host to this truly metropolitan, non-camping festival, which stages global superstars alongside the very best of local talent. Glasgow, the UNESCO City of Music and cultural and artistic hub, will provide the backdrop as TRNSMT interrupts Glasgow’s summer air with an electrifying celebration of music, bringing people together to enjoy the acts they already love, discover the new, and undergo life-affirming experiences.

Fresh on the heels of the release of their ninth LP, the critically acclaimed A Moon Shaped Pool, Radiohead make their return to Glasgow, playing on Friday 7th July. One of the most iconic and innovative bands in the world, Radiohead have evolved continuously since their inception, having created an eclectic back catalogue of albums and songs now widely regarded as classics. No other British band of the past 30 years continuously tops “Greatest Album Ever” or “Most Influential Artist” polls curated by fans and critics alike, are cited as influential to countless other bands of today, and have the unique ability to command respect from a live audience, no matter the scale of event they play. Radiohead last played Glasgow in 2008, so their return to the city in 2017, a year which has already seen them BRIT Award nominated for Best British Group, is long-awaited and highly anticipated.

Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2004, Kasabian have gone on to become one of the biggest rock bands in the country and will headline TRNSMT on Saturday 8th July. They’ve continued to fly the flag for British guitar music ever since, releasing a further four critically acclaimed albums, all of which reached number one. Their new record will be released in the spring. The Leicester four-piece are known for their blistering live shows, with their unique blend of colossal dance beats and rock turning whole festival fields into dancefloors. Equally at home on the festival stage, in stadiums, arenas or in a small intimate setting, few bands can unify a crowd of thousands in quite the same way as Kasabian.

Biffy Clyro are three childhood friends from Ayrshire, Scotland who formed a band, delivered three albums of abrasive youthful exuberance and finally cracked the big time when their fourth – 2007’s Puzzle – hit the charts at number one. With a further three albums under their belt, they are now bona fide stars who can headline festivals, fill arenas and deliver hit singles in an era in which rock bands rarely trouble the charts. Currently nominated for Best British Group at this year’s BRIT Awards, Biffy Clyro’s evolution from the jagged post-hardcore of their early material to the huge alternative rock sound of recent years has won them a fervent and fanatic fan base, whose cries of “Mon the Biff!” will be heard for miles across the city when they headline TRSNMT on Sunday 9th July.

The 1975’s album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It proved they were here for a long time, and a good time, topping the charts in the UK and US and becoming one of the defining albums of recent years. The band is nominated for Brit Awards this year including Best British Group and Album of the Year and will no doubt be one of the many highlights of TRNSMT on Sunday 9th July.

Welsh four-piece Catfish and the Bottlemen will play TRNSMT hot off the back of a world tour for their critically acclaimed sophomore album, The Ride, which saw their anthemic sound reach number one in UK album charts. TRNSMT’s Glasgow crowd will be sure to welcome the band on Saturday 8th July, as charismatic frontman Van McCann revealed his own love for the city on album track Glasgow, which fans will be hoping to hear this July.

Indie figureheads, Belle & Sebastian, bring their critically acclaimed back catalogue to Glasgow Green to join Radiohead on Friday 7th July. Emerging in the late nineties, part of the band’s appeal was their apparent obliviousness to fame, which they were thrust into in 1998 with the release of The Boy with the Arab Strap and their 1999 Best Newcomers Brit Award win. Their ability to share their affinity for culture in songs written almost personally to their fans is how they’ve become lovingly imprinted into the music industry today.

Artists also announced today, London Grammar, George Ezra, Two Door Cinema Club, Twin Atlantic, The Kooks, Blossoms, Rag‘n’Bone Man and Circa Waves, have amassed a number of award wins and nominations throughout their careers, from London Grammar’s Ivor Novello win in 2014 to Rag‘n’Bone Man’s Brits Critics' Choice Awards in 2017. The musical talent on offer at TRNSMT, led by Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro, is the best of the best, the cream of the crop; from your new favourite to most-played artist, the line-up is yours to enjoy thanks to flexible early bird ticket packages.

TRNSMT will offer entertainment over two stages – with a line-up that will highlight talent across the musical spectrum, from the most influential band in fans’ lifetime to their favourite new, under the radar artist on the King Tut’s Stage – powered by Utilita. Fans will enjoy music, arts, culture, bars and restaurants as they customise their individual festival experience across the 3 days.

Knife Party to headline Sunday at South West Four 2017

Absolute giants of the scene, Knife Party have bulldozed through the dance music landscape with relative ease in the last few years. Consisted of two members of the iconic group Pendulum, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen have put their touch of genius to this hugely successful project. Since their inception in 2011, the domineering duo have been a mainstay on the top of huge festival line ups and have sold out the most prestigious venues across the globe, most notably a huge sell out show at the 02 Academy Brixton last Halloween. Their explosive and high-octane sound have made them favourites in all corners of the globe with fans eagerly anticipating the pair’s return wherever they go! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome one of the most influential acts in dance music right to Clapham Common, for 14th installment of South West Four.

Celebrating creativity, community and freedom – Standon Calling offers a genuine weekend escape that’s seen over 12,000 festival-goers return year after year – with 2017’s 12th edition only set to continue that story.

Originators, visionaries and vital in defining an era for an entire generation, Orbital sit on the head-table of electronic royalty with a catalogue and legacy packed with forward-thinking music. Since emerging at the start of the 90s, the Hartnoll brothers have consistently evolved and innovated, with rapturous live sets of infectious techno beats and peerless anthems such as ‘Belfast’, ‘Halcyon And On And On’ and ‘Chime’ standing in a class of their own. One of the most infectious and dynamic pop groups of the 21st century, Clean Bandit’s fusion of classical strings, electro beats and vintage pop hooks have made them a treasured and adored part of British pop culture. Their worldwide smash ‘Rather Be’ paved the way for a career which consistently finds them creating and developing, with hits such as ‘Real Love’, ‘Tears’ and last year’s Christmas number 1 ‘Rockabye’ all becoming go-to anthems in music collections around the country. Guaranteed to bring the sun-soaked vibes, Clean Bandit are ones destined to seize the moment when they headline Standon Calling 2017.

Talking about their headline set at Standon Calling 2017, Clean Bandit said:
“Having spent so long in the studio working on the new album, it’s incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to play our new music to fans this summer. It’s a really exciting opportunity to be headlining a festival in the UK and we hope to bring the party to Standon this summer!”
Both Orbital and Clean Bandit head up a staggering wealth of talent making their way to Standon Calling, continuing a long-standing passion for emerging talent that has been the backbone of the festival for many years.

Heading back to the fields after a breakout set in 2015 is youthful punk royalty Slaves, bringing a live show amped full of blistering intensity, unquenchable energy and unmissable presence. One of the defining live bands of recent years, the Mercury Prize-nominated duo are sure to leave their mark at Standon Calling 2017. Fellow Mercury Prize nominee Laura Mvula knows all about show-stealing moments, and her set at Standon Calling is sure to be a stand-out, bringing the infectious rhythms of latest album ‘Phenomenal Woman’ to the fields. One of the fastest rising British bands of recent times, Nothing But Thieves will bring their anthemic and explosive live presence to Standon for a heavyweight offering of future riff royalty whilst dark-pop heavyweight Gary Numan will delve into his synth-laden cabinets of punk for a stunning trip down memory lane with an artist right at the forefront of individuality and independence.
Continuing the festival’s rich history of bringing some of the most critically celebrated acts to the forefront at Standon Calling, The Laundry Meadows stage (in association with The Independent) is set to play host to a myriad of game-changing talent. These include Beta Band frontman Steve Mason who is destined to lay out a dazzling set with choice cuts from his recent solo return ‘Meet The Humans’ full of revitalising modern experimentation. !!! Standon Calling once again brings the most talked about names in new music into one weekend, with UK MC Nadia Rose, shimmering indie-pop slickers Fickle Friends and Manchester anarchists Cabbage confirmed for the festival, whilst renowned party-lighters The Cuban Brothers will turn on the charm for a festival moment bound to trigger pure joy around the site. Manchster’s art-pop groovers Dutch Uncles will be spinning through latest album ‘Big Balloon’ at this year’s festival, with respected UK hip-hop wordsmith Akala also touching down for a set of explosive and vital portraits of a nation. With even more spectacular sounds emanating from electro genre melders Kero Kero Bonito, dreamers Plastic Mermaids and proto-punk hitters Idles Standon Calling 2017 is laying out the red carpet for the future of exciting new music.

Drawing in dance innovators on every level, Standon Calling’s late-night lineup boasts a staggering array of electronic names and unparalleled stage takeovers. Leading the first reveal of must-see DJ sets is Joe Goddard (of Hot Chip fame), influential favourites Faithless, Jax Jones, DJ Yoda and Maxxi Soundsystem with a plethora of beat-maker and party-shakers. The Cowshed will once again trade in infamous and standout takeovers from the likes of the glamour-soaked glitz-filled extravaganza of Sink The Pink, the drum’n’bass gurus from Hospital Records with their Hospitality live spectacle, The Streets figurehead Mike Skinner and Manchester rap-rave heroes Murkage bringing their Tonga night to the fields and sombre club night Feeling Gloomy presenting their own distinct Bowie Disco – the spectacular and the unique are celebrated in style with the late night highs of Standon Calling.
Speaking about the first line-up announcement, Founder and Festival Director Alex Trenchard said:
“Standon Calling has always been about jaw dropping performances, whether that be from crowd favourites or emerging talent. For me, the very first Orbital Glastonbury show is something I will never forget but Standon is also about the now and I'm very excited to be announcing Clean Bandit straight off the back of nine weeks at number 1. When it comes to breaking acts, something that has been such an important part of Standon’s gone-by, I'm really excited about Cabbage, Nadia Rose and Fickle Friends. We've got loads more to announce including a very special Sunday night headliner, and I can't quite believe this is only the first wave. But what I do know is Standon 2017 is going to be the best ever.”

Over at The Lawn, there’s entertainment at every turn – lead by the incredible new comedy programme headlined by rising star and TV stalwart James Acaster, bringing an extremely special hour long Edinburgh preview to the festival as one of the nation’s leading new comedians heads to Standon Calling. With emerging star John Robins also confirmed for a set, expect to hear the belly laughs ringing from the comedy programme of stand-up and sketch performers across the weekend. Along with the gather-round thrills of the Pub Quiz, the sipping of smooth concoctions from the Cocktail Masterclasses, the unwinding Acoustic Sets or the in-depth talks – Standon Calling has it all and The Lawn will be its beating heart.
Whether it’s adults letting their hair down until 4am to the rings of late-night dance or dipping in the outdoor swimming pool, kids aged from teens to toddlers enjoying a daytime array of unique activities and celebrated entertainment or even dogs – participating in the renowned Standon Calling Dog Show – there’s something unmistakably new at every corner of Standon Calling. The Matthew Bourne Re:Bourne programme of modern ballet performances and workshops will appear at the festival this summer, choreographed by the five time Olivier award winning choreographer himself – Sir Matthew Bourne – in what’s sure to be a truly stunning experience of modern dance of the highest order. From Rockaoke to the Groove Garden, the wellness area boasting hot tubs, Yoga, meditation and more to the Real Ale Festival and the stunning array of curated street food, one-off delicacies and beyond – Standon Calling brings every turn of modern culture into one unforgettable weekend.
Unparalleled and unmissable, Standon Calling 2017 will once again open its gates for a weekend that defines the British festival experience.

Today, The Isle of Wight Festival 2017 announces ten young and upcoming acts for the 2017 festival: Catfish and the BottlemenZara LarssonClean BanditThe VampsThe StrypesThe Amazons, Germein Sisters, Judas, The Novatones and The Second Sons.

They join recently announced headliners David Guetta, Run DMC, Arcade Fire and Rod Stewart, as well as Kaiser Chiefs, Texas, The Shires, Example + DJ Wire, Jonas Blue, Nothing But Thieves, The Sherlocks, Ward Thomas, The UndertonesThe Alarm and Elle Exxe. As well as George Ezra, Bastille, Jack Savoretti and Rag’n’Bone Man.

John Giddings said: “We've always supported fresh, new and exciting talent at the at the Isle of Wight Festival. It’s what music festivals are all about. We had Blossoms in 2015 and they've just been nominated for a BRIT award! Looking forward to seeing what the Isle of Wight 2017’s talents have in store for us!”

The most exciting new guitar band to come out of the UK this decade, Catfish and the Bottlemen released their debut album ‘The Balcony’ in September 2014 and went on to win best newcomer at the BBC Awards later that year. The platinum selling album debuted in the Top Ten in the UK, yielded hit singles aplenty and saw the band win a BRIT Award for best British Breakthrough Act. Known for their incendiary live shows, Catfish and the Bottlemen have toured extensively on both sides of the Atlantic and in May 2016 released their eagerly anticipated second album ‘The Ride’. It went straight to the top of the charts on release, and has sold an astonishing 150,000 copies to date. After a summer of sold out open air shows and festival appearances across the world, the end of 2016 saw the band embark upon an 8 week tour of the US before finishing up with arena dates across the UK. 2017 sees Catfish and the Bottlemen play dates in Australia, Japan and South America, and embark upon a major stadium tour of the USA in the summer with Green Day.

Over the past twelve months, Zara Larsson has achieved what most artists can only dream of, becoming one of the biggest and most exciting breakthrough artists of the year.  To date, she has graced the cover of NME, featured in the Time Magazine’s 30 most influential teenagers and become unmissable across our screens and airwaves.  Factor in a V Festival performance, two 2016 MTV EMAs wins, two BRIT Award nominations and the small matter of opening for Beyoncé on both dates of her Formation World Tour at Wembley Stadium, it’s been non-stop for the Swedish sensation. With a string of global hits already under her belt, Zara’s previous single, ‘I Would Like’ continues to sit firmly in the UK Top Ten, six weeks after being released and peaking at Number 2 in the UK Officials Singles Chart, while her debut single, 'Lush Life’ has gained over half a billion streams on Spotify and gone double Platinum here in the UK.

Zara Larsson said: “So Excited to play the Isle of Wight Festival! UK festivals are always so much fun! You guys always bring 100%.”

Genre-defying Clean Bandit first emerged on the scene in 2012 with their matchless blend of electronica, pop, r’n’b and string arrangements, and have gone onto become global Number One stars. Landing their first UK Number One single in 2014 with ‘Rather Be’ feat. Jess Glynne (the track stayed as the UK Number One for four consecutive weeks), it won a GRAMMY Award for ‘Best Dance Recording’ in 2015, not to mention two Ivor Novello nods for the band’s multi-instrumentalist/producer, Jack Patterson, in the same year for his work on the track. Currently in the studio working on their new album – the follow-up to 2014’s Top Three debut ‘New Eyes’ – Clean Bandit released their mighty single ‘Rockabye’ at the end of 2016; staying at Number One for nine consecutive weeks in the UK and featuring vocals from woman-of-the-moment, Anne-Marie, and the mighty Sean Paul, it was also 2016’s official Christmas Number One in the UK.

The Vamps following continues to grow rapidly. Since they burst onto the scene in 2013, they have had five UK Top 10 singles, two smash hit albums and their YouTube and VEVO channels have topped ½ billion views and 2.7 million subscribers. They often trend around the world on Twitter, and have over 3.3 million followers. The band are also regulars on Facebook where they have 6.3 million Facebook fans. The band have sold out London’s 20,000 capacity O2 four times, with a fifth on sale now, and have hit the road for multiple world tours visiting over 25 countries. The Vamps have won Best Breakthrough, Best British Single and Best British Group (twice!) at the Radio 1 Teen Awards, as well as being nominated for Best Love Song and Best Breakout Group at the Teen Choice Awards. Their current single, All Night, is rising up the charts around the globe and has picked up over 100 million streams worldwide, making it currently the 21st most streamed song on Spotify in the world.

The Vamps Brad Simpson said: “We all can’t wait to play the Isle of Wight Festival! We love playing festivals!”

The Strypes are a four piece rock'n'roll band from Ireland. They began playing together at primary school and signed a record deal in 2012. Their debut album Snapshot was produced by Chris Thomas (Sex Pistols/Beatles) and made the top five in the UK album charts. Their follow up Little Victories cracked the UK top 20 and reached number One in their home country. Their TV appearances include Later with Jools Holland, Late Night with Letterman and Conan O'Brien.

The Strypes’ Ross Farrelly said: “We love the Isle of Wight Festival. It’s one of our favourite festivals, so being invited back to play is incredible news! We can’t wait. Roll on June!”

Reading four-piece, The Amazons, took the new music scene by storm when they released ‘Stay With Me’, produced by Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood and The Maccabees). They have already been championed by BBC Music Introducing, featured on the BBC Sound of 2017 shortlist and the MTV Brand New for 2017 shortlist.

The Amazon’s Matt Thompson said: “We’re very excited to be escaping the mainland to play Isle of Wight Festival for the second time. We had a blast last year at the Jack Rocks tent and can’t wait to join a line-up of some of our favourite artists"

Australia’s Germein Sisters have been turning heads across the globe with their indie pop tunes. Sibling trio Georgia (guitar, keys), Ella (electric cello, bass) and Clara Germein (drums) have got music critics raving worldwide with their flawless harmonies, catchy melodies, and euphoric live show. Described as “my soundtrack to summer” by Music in Time UK, the trio’s organically crafted pop sensibility, intriguing element of electronicism, topped off with that distinctive sibling magic has been making waves ever since they started jamming together on their family’s bushland property in South Australia. Their debut single ‘Da Da Doo’ was nominated for ‘Best Song’ at the South Australian Music Awards, where the girls also scored nominations for ‘Best Pop Artist’ and ‘Best Band’. Germein Sisters have performed across Australia, New Zealand, China, and Europe; and not forgetting supporting Ronan Keating on his tour of Germany, and representing Australia at the Hue Festival in Vietnam, and the Women of the World Festival in Germany.

British Four piece ‘Judas’ have quickly managed to gain a reputation as one of the best new emerging rock and roll bands in the UK, with a fearsome live reputation to boot. Led by charismatic frontman and chief song writer John Clancy, having previously gigged with indie heavyweights such as The View, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The Mystery Jets, he has certainly picked up their knack for writing bona fide indie anthems.

The Novatones are fast becoming a festival favourite. Since first playing at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2014, they have risen up the stages year on year with a huge performance in the Big Top last year. They seem to be the support band of choice in 2017, and are now getting played on 6 Music.

One of London’s most exciting new bands, The Second Sons have risen to international acclaim in 2016 after releasing their debut single “Best Of Me” featuring the late, legendary Bobby Keys and have recently followed up with the bands electrifying collaboration with iconic record producer Chris Kimsey on their most recent single “Can’t You See”. Always able to get people off their feet and dancing, the Second Sons are one of the most entertaining live acts in music to date. "The Second Sons are the best thing to happen to rock n roll since Booker T fell in with the MG’s. It drives like a freight train and punches like a very young Mike Tyson. This band gives me hope for the republic of rock n roll." Rich Cohen – Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone

The Second Sons’ Nick Harding said: “We are thrilled to be back this year, the Isle of Wight Festival is one of the world’s finest and we are happy to be playing it again for a second time.”
