Recondite returns to his Plangent label in January 2022 with a hugely personal seventh studio album, Taum.
The 11 expansive tracks were written between his Berlin home and the Lower Bavaria hinterland of his youth. In capturing the array of emotions he was feeling during the pandemic and mixing up both pastoral and urban influences, the album is his most diverse to date. It takes in classic Recondite tracks that are deep, melodic and meditative as well more edgy, darker beats inspired by his lifelong love of hip hop, grime and trap.
With Taum, Recondite takes his signature sounds further than ever before.

On 6th April, 2022 the Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM) will be ceremoniously opened in Frankfurt. Located directly in the heart of the main city at the Hauptwache, the museum will present the exhibition “Sven Väth – It’s simple to tell what saved us from hell”; a collaboration between close friends Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger.
“There is no better opening exhibition for MOMEM, because Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger have each, in their own way, taken electronic music culture from Frankfurt to the world” Alex Azary, director of MOMEM, is pleased to say.
Together, DJ and electronic art producer Väth and visual artist Rehberger are now curating MOMEM’s opening exhibition, in which they will jointly explore Sven Väth’s private archive. The records, photographs, flyers, films, sounds, and Väth’s private art collection form the centre and starting point of this journey into the shared past of electronic music culture since the late 1980s.
A very personal view of this most important piece of cultural history emerges, in which electronic music culture formed socially in a few European cities such as Berlin, London, Manchester and, of course, Frankfurt am Main, and from there began its triumphal march around the world. “We are very much looking forward to working together on this exhibition and are ourselves excited to see where this joint journey will take us”, Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger show themselves joyfully motivated. The opening of the MOMEM, which is dedicated to the documentation, processing and switching of this cultural history of electronic music, will be celebrated naturally with a large public party with Sven Väth on 08.04.2021.
The Hauptwache will become an extraordinary open-air venue with MOMEM at its centre, and the museum will also provide a spectacular impulse for the further development of Frankfurt’s city centre. This would not have been possible without the great support of the City of Frankfurt and Mayor Peter Feldmann, who, in turn, honoured both Sven Väth and Tobias Rehberger with the Goethe Plaque.
About Sven Väth
Sven Väth was born in 1964 in Offenbach am Main and made his first experiences as a DJ in his parents’ dance club. In 1982, the 18-year-old Sven Väth became a DJ at the legendary discotheque Dorian Gray in Frankfurt Airport and became an international pop star between 1985 and 1987 with the project OFF and the single Electrica Salsa. After a break, he opened Omen, one of the most important German techno clubs of the 1990s, and runs the pioneering labels Eye Q Records, Harthouse and Recycle or Die.
As a DJ, Väth has toured the globe ever since. In 1997, Sven Väth founded the Cocoon party series, which conquered all of Europe from Frankfurt and shaped party life in Ibiza for over 20 years. The party series was expanded to include a label and a booking agency before Sven Väth opened the Cocoon Club on July 18, 2004, a lavishly designed party location in Frankfurt that was to set new accents in terms of interior, sound system and gastronomy. In 2016, Väth was honoured with the “Goetheplakette” of the city of Frankfurt and in 2021 looks back on a 40-year career, which is also the reason for the exhibition at MOMEM. Sven Väth’s 14th studio album “Catharsis” will be released in spring 2022, accompanied by an extensive world tour.

More than just a Beach Party, Plages Électroniques has established itself as one of the major summer events in France and in Europe as it welcomes 60000 people across three days. The past two years have enabled the Allover Productions team to concoct a very special edition for the big 2022 reunion. Coming from all over Europe to dance with their feet in the water, in the sand, or in the Palais des Festivals, the public will be able to enjoy the multiple stages which include the beach, a rooftop and on the terrace of the Palais des Festivals, a stage on the water, an after party inside the Palais des Festivals and daily boat parties on a catamaran, for a non-stop party that runs from 2pm to 5am.

Beyond this preparation, we took advantage of this time to test things. We started streaming, in particular with a set of FOLAMOUR on a yacht in the Lérins Islands, we piloted beach cleaning operations between Nice and Cannes and last summer we launched Villa Plages, a new concept for live concerts with your feet in the fresh grass of the gardens of Villa Rothschild in Cannes. We are continuing the production of international festivals with the Electronic Dunes in Tunisia, the MOGA Festival in Morocco and more recently a first version of the MOGA in Lisbon. The three-day music conference aims to bring together the right minds to drive cultural and economic change in the Middle Eastern music industry. MDLBEAST has unveiled programming details and initial line up of speakers for their XP Music conference, the first of its kind in the Middle East. The three-day and night event will take place in Riyadh from 13th – 15th December and will host a large number of leading industry figures, regional and international, who will address topics that are essential for the amplification and evolution of the region’s music industry.

The Talent pillar at XP will be addressed through 12 activations that cover topics such as original content, professionalisation as well as technology. The conference will kick off with a live performance and a discussion panel that lays down the fundamental ingredients for success in music such as education, tech innovation and investments. The activations will also deal with cultural challenges facing professionalisation in the region, where music is yet to be perceived as a viable career path. When it comes to the role of technology in nurturing talent, the conference will feature a wide range of topics such as the latest production platforms, tools and innovations that can aid the progress of up-and-coming talent.
Among the speakers covering original content at XP will be Chaz Jenkins of Chartmetric, while the Kuwaiti duo, Sons of Yusuf, will be covering professionalisation. As for music and technology, Dr Peter Evans of Let The Music Pay, Janet Sawari of Sinofy Group and Eric Reithler-Barros of Let The Music Pay (dba RCRDSHP) will share their knowledge and experience.

This category will also witness discussions between representatives of cities around the world that have successfully transformed their cities into music icons, in addition to a deep dive into the potential economic impact of the music industry on Saudi Arabia. With its first few editions, Unum immediately won the hearts of underground music lovers, and the third edition last year officially restarted the European festival scene as the first event to happen safely after the initial Covid pandemic. It is a festival that is a feast for all the senses – the natural beauty of the setting, the heat of the sun, the soul enriching local culture that makes the whole event a colourful travel experience as well as forward thinking musical celebration.
The connoisseur crowd comes from all over Europe but is close-knit and friendly. Last year, in particular, the vibes were unreal given how long it had been since people had danced together with plenty of iconic DJ performances and spine-tingling moments sticking long in the memory.
Says Unum Director, Grego O’Halloran, “The experience of how Unum 2021 took place, in the context of a global pandemic, meant that thousands of people shared in a little piece of unique magic that will stay part of the festival’s history forever. This year for Unum 2022, we will be actively building on this same spirit and our ethos since day one of “become one”. On that basis, we’ve added another day at the start and the festival will run longer on the Monday also, because people just didn’t want to stop dancing! We’ll also be spicing up the Beach Stage with some new sounds this year and adding some new, fresh faces on the Pines. “
In 2022, the festival is extended by almost two days to make for an even more unforgettable trip in the beautiful Rana e Hedhun. It is a quiet corner of Europe in the town of Shengjin, on the idyllic Albanian coastline with mountainous backdrops, long gold-sand beaches and dusty landscapes that are a million miles away from everyday reality. It allows for non-stop music night and day, plus a fine array of heart-racing water sports, mouthwatering local food and drink offerings and plenty of isolated bays and secluded woodland areas to explore. Chief amongst them is Unum’s Pine Stage, which has become one of underground music’s most iconic settings. It is a secluded paradise surrounded by awe-inspiring nature and the sweet smell of pine, all with the finest DJs in the world laying down compelling sounds. As well as this there is music on the grand Main Stage and a wealth of beach parties that take advantage of the stunning sunsets and sunrises with DJs providing special musical memories to go with.
Providing the soundtrack this year are top-shelf selectors, returning favourites and red hot new talents including regulars and minimal kings Raresh, Ricardo, Praslea joined by Cristi Cons, Priku and Rhadoo. French house heroes Shonky and 2021’a Unum legends Dyed Soundorom, John Dimas and Jonny N’ Travis will also line up, while the ever-playful Seth Troxler headlines the Main Stage, Shimza plays the Beach Stage, new favs Vera, Molly and Anthea make a welcome debut and cult diggers including Sonya Moonear, Traumer, tINI, Fumiya Tanaka and tens more also play.
