Established in 2000, LOCUS has long been setting the benchmark for drum ‘n’ bass events and this now annual trip to Mexico is another reason why they lead from the front with a line-up that represents the past, present, and future of drum ‘n’ bass. It is an unrivalled four-day musical culture and travel experience in a sun soaked tropical haven paradise, surrounded by sun beds, towering palm trees and gorgeous jungle greenery.
The magic plays out across three stunning venues, including the incredible Buuts’ Ha’ Cenote Club. Located just outside Tulum, it is an organic open air space with a boho feel, wooden decking and surrounded by green-blue water that allows you to spend a day swimming, eating amazing food and listening to some of your favourite drum ‘n’ bass artists in paradise, with free shuttle transportation from Tulum’s main town. Then there is Tatich Beach Club, another gorgeous venue directly on the beach with a pool and incredible restaurant, which will host drum ‘n’ bass for the very first time. Finally, each evening finishes at the hottest new venue in Tulum, Tehmplo, going into the early hours of the morning.
Each of the four days is packed with talent from top to bottom. Day 1 features godfathers of the scene such as UK legends Fabio & Grooverider next to key Metalheadz artist Doc Scott, plus Workforce from Must Make Music, who was previously half of SpectraSoul, and more like LSB, Mark System, Monrroe & Emily Makis, Dom & Roland, Dave Owen, IYRE and Flaco.
Day 2 welcomes enduring scene kingpin and Hospital Records founder London Elektricity alongside the man who constantly revenants himself, Exit Records boss DBridge. Dutch Metalheadz artist and underground hitmaker Lenzman of The North Quarter, Ram Records star Harriet Jaxxon and red hot producer Rohaan also line up with Submotive, who struck real gold with his Subjective collaboration with Goldie, and many more.
Day 3 brings originators and chaos makers Ed Rush & Optical while Kemal & Rob Data (aka Konflict) reunite at LOCUS for their first show in over 20 years. All styles from neurofunk to liquid are covered, as they are joined by the influential veterans Teebee, Klute, Hospital artists Makoto, Etherwood and Degs and several others.
The final day ends LOCUS with a world class bang as the one and only Goldie stops by for a masterclass. He is joined by four-time winner of the World’s Best DnB DJ award, A.M.C, who plays a first ever live Deep Digging set – usually saved for recorded mixes – and Brazilian scene godfather DJ Marky also plays with DJ Flight, Dub Phizix & Strategy, Phaeleh and more.

Follow Filth on Acid on Soundcloud / Instagram / Facebook

Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid snaps up BK for a huge new EP which features three new tunes including one with the boss himself. BK has taken his inimitable production style into clubland and immediately translated it into a DJ performance that has made him an overnight success. He runs his own Nukleuz Records and brings all new energy to techno.

Reinier Zonneveld & BK’s Suis Moi opens up with cantering drums and flashy synth work. The synths light it up in futuristic fashion while the dark vocal demands you to dance. BK’s Rampage then has hefty drums, skewed leads and the sort of raw and brain frying techno energy that cannot fail to blow up the floor. Indecision ups the pace and races along on slick and sleek drums with pent up trance-techno energy and a big vocal up top to really blow the roof off. Control the Music is last up and is another all consuming, peak time techno weapon.

This is a standout EP that will make you want to lose control and rage on the dance floor.

LooseFest Returns in 2023 with their Biggest Line up Yet

Sean Paul, Craig David, Chase & Status, Patrick Topping and more headline
The North East’s largest and most ambitious music festival is back again on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August at Newcastle’s unique and expansive inner-city green space, the Town Moor.
Once again, 30,000 people are expected to attend each day of the already legendary LooseFest weekender who have put together their biggest line-up to date, with headline artists including Sean Paul, Chase & Status, Craig David, Patrick Topping, Ben Hemsley, Joel Corry, Andy C, Sub Focus, Dimension, Example, Sigala and Tinie Tempah as well as some of the biggest DJs around including Franky Wah, Alan Fitzpatrick, Hot Since 82, Kettama, Jax Jones, Sigala and many more, all lined up across five spectacular arenas.
Tickets go on General Sale on Friday 17th February, but sign-up now at www.loosefest.com to get early access to all tickets and payment plans 2 hours before general release.
In 2022, LooseFest became the largest festival in history to take over Newcastle’s Town Moor. The location is one of the largest inner-city greenspaces in Europe, spanning over 1,000 acres, making it larger than New York City’s Central Park (843 acres). The LooseFest team have entered into a long-term partnership with the Freemen of Newcastle and the City Council to secure the future expansion of the site for many years to come, firmly cementing the North East on the UK festival map and beyond.
Last year’s event was truly historic, transforming the area into an adult wonderland and for 2023, the LooseFest team are taking things another step further, with 5 incredible arenas, a carefully curated street food village, funfair, a range of bars and vendors and unique immersive activations including a Bentley and Ferrari experience in VIP and in the festival’s very own digital Metaverse. Although the festival does not currently offer on site camping, with the location being so close to the city centre, there is a huge range of accommodation options nearby, from hotels to Airbnb’s, as well as excellent transport links, making LooseFest one of the most easily accessible large-scale events in the country.
The music of course is the centrepiece of the festival, playing out across five bespoke stages each with their own bold look and stunning sound, covering everything from house, DnB and disco to techno, RnB and dance classics. The production is right at the cutting edge, with state of the art sound and lighting rigs, special effects and decor that is literally out of this world.
A vital mix of international talent as well as local and UK stars from across the musical spectrum all line-up again this year. Chief amongst them is global superstar Sean Paul, international drum & bass pin-ups Chase & Status and Andy C, R&B sensation Craig David with his TS5 show, chart topping party starter Example, UK grime star Tinie Tempah and Newcastle’s very own Patrick Topping, who will be hosting one of the arenas under his ever popular Trick imprint.
Also performing across the line-up are some of the biggest artists spanning the full breadth of electronic music, including DnB and bass selectors Sub Focus, Dimension, Bou and Kings of the Rollers, house, tech and techno maestros, Ben Hemsley, Joel Corry, Hot Since 82, Alan Fitzpatrick, Jax Jones, Schak and Syreeta as well as dance legends Judge Jules, Artful Dodger, Ultrabeat, Phats & Small, Flip & Fill and for the soulful house and disco lovers, Horse Meat Disco, A-Track and many more, with arenas hosted by Capital, Trick, Worried About Henry, What The Funk, Let’s Get Loose, Utopiar and Mixtape.
LooseFest has grown at an incredible rate since its debut in Herrington Park in 2021. Last year it set an all new standard for events in the North East and 2023 will be bigger and better than ever. The team behind the festival is made up of experienced industry experts, having created and curated some of the region’s best events, venues, and festivals over the past 10 years. Last year’s event created hundreds of jobs for the local community, working with as many local suppliers as possible, bringing in over £12m to the local economy and delivering an amazing experience to tens of thousands of party goers from across the UK.
LooseFest 2023 is the ultimate way to spend a summer’s weekend in one of the UK’s most vibrant cities, without the hassle of out-of-town travel and camping in the mud. Make sure it’s on your to do list this year. Sign up now at www.loosefest.com and we’ll see you in the Toon!

This tour gives them the opportunity to warm-up, headline and cool-down all in one night.

“It’s a special experience for us,” says Dori. “We get to play music we haven’t played in years to fans around the world who have supported us from the beginning.”

“These nights create a really strong bond with our audience,” says Niv. “They’re with us all night long, and we get to play old stuff as well as new stuff, and cover our entire history.”

Red Axes have brought all new musical perspectives and influences to their sets and productions since day one. The highly acclaimed pair has released on the likes of Phantasy Sound – including new The Phantasy Collection Part 1Shall Not Fade and !K7 Records as well as their own Garzen Records. Joshua Brooks Announces Winter and Spring Lineups for 2023

Darius Syrossian, Shogun Audio, Whipping with Mele, T57 + Zero, Luuk Van Dijk, Yousef and more to perform

Joshua Brooks continues to cement its position as the UK’s best small club with another cultured series of parties this February, March and April. Moxy Muzik with Darius Syrossian, Shogun Audio, Whipping with Mele, T57 + Zero, Luuk Van Dijk, Yousef, Free From Sleep, Horse Meat Disco, Mason Maynard, several All Night Long parties with Hannah Wants, Seb Zito, Hannah Laing, Nick Warren, Fleur Shore and Rebuke, plus Sam Divine, Max Dean and a special three hour set from Toman plus much more all make it an irresistible run with tickets available now at.

Key to each party is the club’s subtle but immersive lighting but also the famous VOID sound system. It is perfectly tuned and tweaked to suit the venue and delivers every hi hat and kick drum as intended. The club is famously warm with exploded brick, an up close and personal DJ booth and crowds who know their music. For that reason, it offers a superior small club experience where tight connections are made between music, dancers and artists every night.

This run is another one that looks firmly to the cutting edge of house and techno with the return of Darius Syrossian’s Moxy Muzik party on Feb 4th. This one routinely sells out. On Friday 3rd, March when he plays an extended three-hour set, expect another masterclass. On Friday 10th February, the bass bins will be tested by their Shogun Audio crew and Pol & Bryson, Duskee and Monroe, then Venus Classics will bring the good times on the 11th; raw house specialist Mele plays Whip with a special guest on Friday 17th, T57 + Zero stop in as part of their UK tour on the 18th and after an All Night Long session from Luuk Van Dijk on the 24th, Circus founder and all-around scene figurehead Yousef play a special three-hour set.

Into March before Free From Sleep rolls in on Saturday 4th, with Ilan Bluestone seeing up his mesmeric melodic grooves. Friday the 10th is the always colourful Horse Meat Disco with Supernature DJs and more, and on Saturday the 11th, the local, new school hero that is Kaluki, DFTD, and Repopulate Mars associate Mason Maynard takes his place in the JBs basement.

Friday, the 17th, is the first of three consecutive All Night Long parties – the first with bass house queen Hannah Wants, the second on Saturday 18th, with longtime Fuse resident and dub house and garage-techno man Seb Zito and the third on Friday, the 24th with Dundee’s party starter Hannah Laing. The night after, it’s the fast-rising Max Dean, and the month ends with another three-hour special from Amsterdam’s slick house innovator and PIV artist Toman on the 31st of March.

Highlights in April include Just Snack with Mele and more, Rebuke, Fleur Shore, and Nick Warren all playing their one All Night Long parties, the monthly Moxy Muzik party, a set from Sam Divine, Whippin’ with The Mason Collective, Full Circle with Route 94, Retro with Paul Taylor and K-Klass and more.

There is nowhere in the country that offers an underground experience as authentic as Joshua Brooks, so get down for this next fine month of parties.

French 79 Drops the Exclusive Video for the First Single ‘Burning Legend’ of his Upcoming “TEENAGERS” LP

The video is directed by the the French duo The Cauboys

Stream and download the exclusive music video here

The Cauboyz duo has always been in charge of French 79’s visual art direction. For Simon
Henner, “They are part of French 79’s project. We spent our childhood and teenage years
together. We understand each other at a glance. It’s crazy to be that much on the same
page.” An incredibly rare work-life relationship.

The central idea (of TEENAGERS’ artwork) began with a young teen holding a flag as if he
wanted to make it come to life. Adults would have wondered what the point was. But the
child doesn’t care. He’s so proud of it, he creates his own world around it… “This image
perfectly fits into my idea of adolescence and its adventurous, experimental side. It’s naive,
spontaneous, simple and beautiful… I yearn for moments like this in my adult life.”

The Cauboyz duo explains their vision: “As the first single of French 79’s new album, ‘Burning
Legend’ evokes the jubilant period of adolescence. With age, we tend to move away from
it. But the memory of the first experiences and the ardour remain in us, as we want to
preserve it. Founding moment in the search for identity, the musical choices then participate in
defining us socially. As an extension of the visual of the album, this music video introduces
the audience to several situations in which French 79’s is embodied by human characters.
Like a emblem, they carry the musician’s identity, they claim it and support it. Music is a part
of us ; it accompanies us in our daily life and evokes in us the memories of an age where
everything was yet to be discovered and where nothing was for sure.”
