Swedish House Mafia and Leftfield added to T in the Park

The institution dance music fans know and love as the Slam Tent will be back at Balado to celebrate its 15th consecutive year and with Leftfield confirmed as a headliner, it’s a line-up that calls for double celebration.  The stellar Slam bill of dance heavyweights also includes The Streets, Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77,
Felix da Housecat, Slam, Diplo, Josh Wink, Benga & Youngman, Silicone Soul andMathew Jonson.  That’s just for Slam starters as there’s much more to come.

swedish house mafiaThe infamous Swedish House Mafia are set to tear it up when they descend upon Balado.  Huge individually and riotous together, the superstar trio of DJ’s Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell take dance music to another level when performing as a collective.  They stormed the charts with Tinie Tempah last year providing the unofficial soundtrack to the summer with dance floor anthem ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ and now it’s time to take on T in the Park.

leftfieldLeftfield pioneered the electronic music scene of 90’s Britain with seminal debut album ‘Leftism’ which fused dub, breakbeat and techno.  The album was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and reached Q Magazine’s 100 Greatest British Albums ever.  Famous for touring with an outrageously loud sound system which created headlines in Amsterdam and caused the ceiling of the Brixton Academy to crumble, Neil Barnes is set to make the blue walls of the Slam Tent throb as he single-handedly brings the Leftfield experience to the masses this summer.

deadmau5This man is so on top of his game that he hardly needs an introduction.  Deadmau5, the 28 year old Canadian, is an electro house producer with a big difference.  There’s the large cartoon mouse head costume of course, but there’s also the artist, the technical whizzkid, the Grammy Award nominee and the outstanding reputation for being the most forward thinking person in electronic music right now. Killer clubland tracks such as ‘Ghosts N Stuff’ and ‘I Remember’ are sure to form part of a highly visual set that will go down in history.  The man has his finger on the pulse, he creates the pulse, he IS the pulse.

Hailed as one of the world’s best electronic music acts, 2manydjs bring their pounding electro for what will be their third appearance at T in the Park. Fans of the Belgian brothers’ sell out shows know to expect outstanding visual treats and electrifying chemistry between the pair, making their set an unmissable affair. Mash ups of foot stompers like Gossip’s ‘Standing in the Way of Control’ and MGMT’s ‘Kids’ have been filling dancefloors all over the world and the fields of Balado will be shaking when these two take to the decks.

The massive dance music collective confirmed for T in the Park, along with leading urban music acts currently lead by the inimitable Tinie Tempah, and the biggest names in rock and pop, further proves that T in the Park has something for everyone.  Music fans can get lost in their love of dance for the whole weekend, saturate themselves in the sweet sounds of urban and pop, rock out to the biggest festival acts on the planet or mix it up and do it all. The very best of separate musical genres, across multiple stages with carefully curated line ups for the most finely tuned festival bill of the summer – that’s T in the Park.

At the heart of T in the Park is the music and atmosphere that continually unites the crowd and creates a weekend of memorable moments that will last a lifetime. DRUMCODE feat. ADAM BEYER,
SLAM, PAUL RICH (LIVE) & JOSEPH CAPRIATI

Saturday night is all about techno and we’ve handed the keys over to Drumcode Records to bring us a monster line up featuring label boss Adam Beyer, Scottish techno legends SLAM, Paul Rich live and Joseph Capriati. Adam has had prolific releases on labels such as Plus-8, NovaMute and Cocoon before establishing his own imprints. Headlining festivals and clubs across the globe, Adam embodies all that is exciting about techno. SLAM define UK techno – from their infamous Friday night residency at The Sub Club in Glasgow – to delivering hits such as Positive Education, Eterna and Lifetimes. They set up the Soma imprint in 1991 which still runs as one of the most seminal labels in its electronic music. French techno artist Paul Rich delivers a live showcase of his music whilst Jospeh Capriati from Italy rounds things off nicely.

GLOBAL COMMUNICATION (DJ SET)

Global Communication AKA Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard can be cited as one of the UK’s most prolific production duos. With more production aliases than any other electronic artist (…probably) the South-West based duo form GC in 1991 after Tom’s work with Aphex Twin and Mark enjoyed chart success with a dodgy rave-rework of kids TV show ‘Rhubarb & Custard’ Their debut album 76:14 is one of the most acclaimed ambient albums from the early 90’s. Having taken a break briefly in 1997 to focus on a plethora of other projects the duo have reformed and back to deliver what looks set to be one of the highlights of the weekend, starting off with ambient soundscapes building up to dancefloor beats, closing the Glade Stage on Sunday evening.

ANDREW WEATHERALL

Andrew Weatherall co-founded UK-underground fanzine Boys Own in the late 80’s which documented the Acid House boom. His productionwork included the remix Hallelujah by Happy Mondays and World In Motion by New Order. After leaving Boys Own he formed The Sabres Of Paradise, Two Lone Swordsmen and Rotters Golf Club. He has gone on to produce Beth Orton, Primal Scream and remix Bjork, The Orb, FSOL, Manic Street Preachers and many more.

PHOTEK (LIVE)

UK drum n bass pioneer Photek is set to perform live at this summers Glade and anyone who’s experessed even a vague interest in the scene since the mid 90’s will know we’re in for a real treat. Rupert ‘Photek’ Parkes has been instrumental in shaping the mid 90’s experimental d’n’b sound with seminal releases including ‘The Water Margin’, ‘Into The 90’s’ and ‘Mine To Give’ (featuring Robert Owens) With new music out, Radio 1 support and a whole lot of hype surrounding his new live show, we extremely excited to have this man at our event.

AND THE REST…

Over the weekend we’re pleased to welcome performances from a whole host of talent – from festival favourites such as Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Krafty Kuts, Hybrid and Dirty Vegas - to the superfresh, bass-heavy sounds of SkrillexEngine Earz Experiment andDirtyphonics, without a doubt three of the most exciting artists around. Add to this a very special performance from UK beatbox / vocalist Dub FX and The Flower Fairy (not to be missed) alongside Glade veteran DJs Ben & Lex and with more announcements to come, this years Glade Stage is looking pretty tasty.

ORIGIN STAGE:

The UK’s spiritual home of psychedelic trance, this amazing and colourful outdoor arena welcomes the biggest and best names in the scene. Featuring UK psy trance pioneers TristanDicksterMan With No Name and Prometheus alongside a whole host of fresh live acts and DJs from across the globe including Headroom Room and The Commercial Hippies (South Africa) Logica (Brazil)Edoardo (Italy) and Emok (Denamrk?) representing all spectrums of the psy trance scene as well as a special live performances fromAtmos and UK electro and dubstep outfit Atomic Drop

OVERKILL

The Overkill Stage is Glade Festival’s bastard offspring bringing together a collection of IDM’s leading lights taking in breakcore, gabba, dubstep, rave, glitch, drone and beyond. If you like your beats more left of centre then ladies and gentlemen, step right up. Headline Live acts include three very rare UK performances from Richard DevineEprom and Eskmo, three producers from the USA all of which are considered geniuses within their own field. Wrong Music main man Shitmat makes a welcome return alongside new talent in the form of Young Montana?, Loops Haunt, Baconhead and many more melting the parameters of music and sound.

INSPIRAL

We can’t do a festival without these wonderful and creative people. Their Chill Out Lounge has been a firm fixture at the Glade since we launched providing a wonderfully relaxed environment for festival-goers to sit, relax and recharge with the best in organic sustenance wrapped up in their own warm and friendly style. This year the lounge morphs into its own arena with all the usual fine trappings and provding a space to chill by day but as the evening progesses as does the music featuring grooving techno and progressive treats. Highlights include Guadi live and DJs sets from Dick Trevor, George Barker and Naked Nick.

Rockness announce Sub Club Sound System

It is therefore with feverish excitement, and following the inaugural sonic assault by this mighty Glasgow institution on the Arcadia Afterburner at last year’s festival, that we can today proudly announce a brand new arena for RockNess 2011 –  SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM.

For three days only, underground goes overground. SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM will see our friends bring their totally unique and much loved ‘Subbie’ vibe to its new home-from-home in Dores…along with a line up guaranteed to deliver 100% dancefloor devastation all weekend!

modeselektorSUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM starts day one with a big walloping chunk of techno on Friday courtesy of headliner MODESELEKTOR.  These East German producers excel in throbbing slabs of machine music and this rare set is sure to explode with energy. Joining MODESELEKTOR is a DJ credited with bringing forward-thinking, bass-heavy music into the public consciousness; JACKMASTER. Voted by DJ Magazine as the Best British Breakthrough DJ of 2010, this Glaswegian customarily obliterates festivities with his unrelenting panache and embraces guilty pleasures and forgotten classics in the same set as unreleased dubplate heaters. The world-renowned NUMBERS operative which he co-founded includes a packed out residency at the Sub Club, a highly prolific label and a recently curated CD for the legendary FabricLive mix series.

With a musical dexterity that belies their tender years, young techno upstarts CLOUDS are on fire. The Scottish duo are attracting massive support with Boys Noize, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Annie Mac, Proxy and Sinden all fans, and their incredible ‘Liquid/Mauful Sir’ was the debut release on Fake Blood’s Blood Music label. Indeed, upon first listen the recently-announced-for-RockNess FAKE BLOOD commented, “CLOUDS…this is all kinds of awesome”.  Armed with Serato, two quick hands and the most diverse crate of dance floor fillers you’re likely to hear, BOOM MONK BEN is a frenzied fanatic of all things bass. From hip hop, dancehall, funk and breakbeats to house, dubstep and drum and bass if it makes the BOOM BEN move you’ll be hearing it this summer at RockNess. His monthly HYP? night at the Sub Club welcomes the foremost exponents of all things electronic and his Mixed Bizness night at Glasgow Art School is much respected. Also on the Mixed Bizness roster and confirmed is HAHAHA…but there ain’t nothing funny about the skill deployed by this new Glasgow producer every time the snare hits. He’s one of the most exciting out there.

magdaNo compromise, no restrictions is the order of the day in Saturday’s SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM. It is a philosophy that flows through the music of MAGDA who headlines the arena.  Encouraged into the early Detroit underground scene by Dan Bell and Claude Young, a co founder of the Run Stop Restore project along with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce, and past force of the all female DJ collective Women on Wax, MAGDA’s name is never far from the lips of discerning clubbers and fellow DJs alike. Signed to Richie Hawtin’s M_nus label, such is the respect MAGDAcommands she is now Hawtin’s sole choice as opening DJ on his European and Stateside tours. Citing Chicago Jack, Acid and Techno as equal ingredients in her sound, MAGDA at RockNess will be BIG!

Exuberance, joy, intense grooves and the perfect mix of house, techno and minimal, Romanian-born RARESH is on a stratospheric trajectory. Garnering the acclaim of the great and the good including Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano and Richie Hawtin, and shaking dancefloors across the globe, RARESH is one of the hottest young names out there. Together with friends Rhadoo and Pedro he founded the label [a:rpia:r] with the purpose of conquering not the chart, but the pure feeling and sensation on the dancefloor, in the club.  His debut Scottish gig at the Sub Club and subsequent appearance at The Wee Chill – both splendidly curated by the SENSU and SUB team – demonstrated just what all the fuss was about. Now he’s Scotland-bound again and heading to ‘Ness. RARESH…prepare to be suitably impressed!

Regarded as one of the most credible and forward thinking club nights in the world, the Sub Club’s weeklySUBCULTURE residency is an institution that reigns supreme. HARRI and DOMENIC are revered by the electronic music fraternity the world over and week in week out bodies are well and truly jacked at this two-decade-strong residency. Deeply rooted in the early Chicago and Detroit sounds responsible for today’s clubbing and electronic music culture SUBCULTURE is also a night which rarely looks back. Expect a storming set and a serious good time party.

Serving up lashings of deep, soulful house against a tech laced, percussion driven set, the brilliant SENSU comprises of Barry Price, Esa Williams and Chris ‘Junior’ Ingram. The trio are set to return to RockNess with a new incarnation of their LIVE performance and the guarantee of it being a highlight of the entire weekend. Laptops, 303s and 909s are employed as the weapons of choice to create a unique live sound that captivates as well as entertains. As co-promoters of The Wee Chill, an extravaganza that has earned a place in the heart of many a discerning clubber, good music, good people and good times is the SENSU motto. It is this philosophy that is carried through into their monthly SENSU club night at the Sub Club, which recently featured in Mixmag’s ‘Top Ten Club Nights of 2010’ . And quite rightly so, with bookings such as Loco Dice, Magda and Ricardo Villalobos making their events a highlight of every month.

Sunday’s proposition in the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM is a stunner. For anyone yet to experience the essence of pure Sub Club magic this is THE place to be. Having taken a sabbatical from the Mercury Music Award-winning ensemble The xx, JAMIE XX has gone deep underground to indulge his love of bottom heavy beats. So far he’s DJ’d at FWD>> and on Rinse FM, released a mix for Parisian arbiters of taste Colette and a 12-inch on Numbers, warmed up mosh pits for OFWGKTA and remixed Gil Scott-Heron’s comeback masterpiece I’m New Here to widespread acclaim. Now he’s heading to Ness to drop an exemplary and effortlessly cool DJ set fitting of this year’s SUB CLUB SOJND SYSTEM finale. Get in early.

MATTHEW DEAR epitomises the sound of the Sub Club and the epic news that he and his band are confirmed for aLIVE set is seriously off the scale!  Straddling multiple musical worlds and belonging to none, MATTHEW DEARinhabits a rarefied corner of the underground universe: respected by his peers and blessed with a bottomless well of creative energy, now is his moment and it sounds like nothing else. Miss this at your peril.

OPTIMO. The very word ignites a fanatical reaction such is their repute. As diverse as ever in their music selection, the first ever OPTIMO was at the Sub Club with club co owner Mike Grieve declaring “this is going to be a revolution”. How right he was. OPTIMO’s 13 year residency at the Sub Club was one of the most important musical contributions Scotland has made to this century. Sunday’s are alive and kicking though! JD Twitch and JG Wilkes recently took up where their old night left off with new Sub Club residency HUNG UP, this time with added input from some of Glasgow’s finest. How appropriate that come June the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM and RockNess will be welcoming back OPTIMO for a blast of euphoric excess delivered in radical signature style.

Hailing from urban-experimental royalty, and with a vast array of vinyl at his disposal and an unbridled passion for every kind of music under the sun, PRO VINYLIST KARIM of Glasgow’s stellar Rub-A-Dub hits Ness with one message…expect the unexpected!  As a long standing champion of high quality music and technical mixing, KARIMknows a tune when he hears it.  And finally, but in no way least, we are over the proverbial moon, to reveal that Kilmarnock disco legend DAVID BARBAROSSA will be electrifying the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM with his unique brand of record playing. Running his own nights including Curious Curious, Damaged Goods, Fun Size and Wild Combination, occasionally turning out as part of the Huntleys & Palmers gang and having played alongside James Murphy, Todd Terje, Black Devil, Optimo, Roedelius, expect serious levels of funky booty-shaking to be hitting up the arena.

MIKE GRIEVE, Director, Sub Club ”RockNess is by far the most spectacular setting for a festival in the UK and it feels better every time we do it. Having a dedicated SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM arena over the whole weekend gives us the chance to take the Subbie experience to The Highlands in full effect and promises to be the most exciting club event of the summer.”

JIM KING, Festival Director, RockNess “I first went to the Sub Club back in 1990. It was a pilgrimage to see what was already a leading light in the underground club scene and the fact that I see this as one of the most exciting announcements we will make this year demonstrates just how good these guys are at what they do. Hopefully it also shows our dedication to having the very best in underground music at RockNess. Their line up is phenomenal and it’s a guaranteed lock out all day and all night.”

HARRI, Subculture “The Sub Club is an institution, which is handy as most of the staff and punters should be in an institution!  First time I went to the Sub Club, they wouldn’t let me in, now I can’t get out. Best looking DJs in Jamaica St.”

JONNIE WILKES, Optimo “We always use this daft word to describe that certain atmosphere the club has or the approach the guys (Mike, Paul and Barry) have as owners and promoters. This atmosphere and approach to running the place is what sets it apart from other clubs. The word is “subbiness”. It is daft and I laugh every time I hear it but if you go along to The Sub Club you’ll know exactly what we mean. The place is unique. It has something about it. Subbiness.”

DOMENIC CAPPELLO, Subculture
“The best place to play ,the best crowd to play to and when a track really goes off it feels as if the whole club bounces three feet in the air.”
KEITH McIVOR, Optimo “The Sub Club is one of the best places to DJ in the world with a little rivalled soundsystem that makes dance music sound how it is meant to sound.”

JACKMASTER ”Numbers at the Sub Club is my favourite place to play in the world.
BARRY PRICE, Sensu “the best club to work for, play for & dance in. There is nowhere quite like it anywhere in the world.”

JUNIOR, Sensu – “With Harri, Domenic and Optimo as teachers, every day is a very enjoyable school day, at the best school ever.”

ESA aka MERVIN GRANGER, Sensu “Sub Club has inspired me to think forward musically, it’s made me choose Glasgow as home now and it will forever be my number one club in the world.

Primal Scream to headline Sunday Camp Bestival 2011

Rob da Bank says: “Screamadelica is undoubtedly in my top 5 albums of all time. It came out just as i was launching myself into raveland, soundtracked so many late nights and early mornings and is at heart one of the best combinations of dance, soul and rock n roll ever. Screamadelica and Primal Scream have stood the test of time better than most and I can’t wait for Camp Bestival-goers old and young to hear it either again or for the first time. Come together!”

One of the greatest albums to have emerged during the heady days of the 1990s, ‘Screamadelica’ is effortlessly timeless, so we’re truly ecstatic to announce that Primal Scream will be joining us at Camp Bestival headlining the Sunday night playing their seminal album in its entirety. From the sublime ‘Movin’ On Up’, through the blissful bass of ‘Don’t Fight It Feel It’ and the euphoric ‘Come Together’, Primal Scream presents Screamadelica is a cast-iron guarantee for an epic last night at Camp Bestival. But that’s not all because Bobby Gillespie and co have also agreed to perform their greatest hits too, making for a truly unmissable Sunday headline set!

We’ve already announced that the sensational English National Ballet will be joining us at Camp Bestival exclusively this year but we’ve got even more exciting news from them, as on Sunday afternoon we want everyone to go ball(et)istic in the Castle field when English National Ballet will get you plie-ing and pirouetting en masse in our first Camp Bestival Ballet Flashmob! With Rob da Bank on decks and English National Ballet showing you the moves, this is ballet fun on a grand scale. Don’t forget your legwarmers!

More melodious merriment throughout the weekend comes courtesy of BRIT nominated finger picking tour de force Newton Faulkner. With his purist’s love of music and a burning desire to share his songs with people, Newton will be playing the penultimate set in the Big Top on Saturday night. Hotly tipped fellow singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich also joins the throng to wow the crowd with his diaphanous harmonies and enchanting guitar playing, while tongue in cheek country & western concerns are addressed by Clint Westwood who will be on hand with tales of round ups, rustlers and the 7.36 from Victoria.

BBC Sound of 2011 nominees Nero are set to take Camp Bestival even higher with their euphoric dubstep vibes. Weaving elements of old school house and trance into their low frequency oscillations Nero will blast the late night crowd into submission. Electro governor Doorly will be unleashing his dumbfounding deck manoeuvres cutting searing riffs and bass-quaking beats all with lashings of his trademark relentless energy. And the White Wedding crew will be making the trip to the Jurassic coast supplying classic tunes to fuel all the choas of the best wedding you’ve never been to including first dances, confetti-hurling, mother-in-law hats, bouquet tossing and more bad dad-dancing than you can handle.

Oxegen 2011 lineup announced!

Check out the video below to see who else joins the Oxegen 2011 lineup!

Here are the full lineup details!

Oxegen is back for 2011 and once again boasts a stellar bill crammed with the biggest and best musical talent on the planet, including some of the world’s most loved festival headliners. Fifty million album selling, Grammy and BRIT award winning band Coldplayjoin The Strokes, The Script, Deadmau5 and The National in today’s big announcement. They will appear at Oxegen alongside The Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters on a bill that also includes Arctic Monkeys and Paolo Nutini and an ultra-impressive bill of ‘must see’ acts at Punchestown Racecourse across the weekend of8-10th July 2011.

coldplayIt’s an Oxegen festival first for Coldplay, who will delight their devoted army of fans with their renowned powerful performance at Punchestown.  This is a band who are well used to packing out stadiums the world over and are also headlining Glastonbury this year, but they will be in for a treat when they play to a packed main stage crowd and experience the unrivalled and electric atmosphere at Oxegen. Coldplay are set to deliver a spine-tingling show that will undoubtedly be a seminal musical moment of the summer.

Following a long live break, The Strokes will bring their Stateside style to the musical centre of Ireland.  Their 2001 debut album ‘Is This it’ was widely regarded by music critics and fans alike as one of the best indie rock albums in a decade and their forthcoming fourth album ‘Angels’ is the ultimate proof that these NYC music and style icons are still as strong. Demand to see them live is even stronger, they lead the line-up for California’s Coachella festival this year.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for The Script, whose new No.1 album ‘Science & Faith’ and top five single ‘For The First Time’ has led to the announcement of a massive UK arena tour for 2011 and a highly anticipated set at Oxegen.  The Script’s new album is the follow up to 2008’s 1.8 million selling self-titled, No.1, global smash of a debut. In their own words, “First and foremost we are a live band. We’re gonna give it everything, we just can’t wait!!”

deadmau5Also from across the pond comes Deadmau5 - the 28 year old Canadian born electro house producer with a big difference.  There’s the large cartoon mouse head costume of course, but there’s also the artist, the technical whizzkid, the Grammy Award nominee and the outstanding reputation for being the most forward thinking person in electronic music right now. Killer clubland tracks such
as ‘Ghosts N Stuff’ and ‘I Remember’ are sure to form part of a highly visual set that will go down in history.  He’s so in demand he is now headlining his own super-shows and is due to play to 35,000 in London in June. The man has his finger on the pulse, he creates the pulse, he IS the pulse.

American supergroup The National have released some of the most important albums of modern times with huge hitters ‘Boxer’ and ‘Alligator’ making countless “album of the century” lists. Frontman Matt Berninger’s deep voice lends itself perfectly to raw, reflective lyrics, sending listeners on an epic journey with each track.

foo fightersThe phenomenal bill already includes rock gods Foo Fighters who are set to release their highly anticipated seventh studio album ‘Wasting Light.’ Frontman Dave Grohl (NME Godlike Genius 2011) recently revealed he wants to play it live at night in front of tens of thousands of people – “It’s a festival album because it f**king rocks!.” Grohl will do exactly that as the Foo Fighters put in yet another stadium calibre performance, debuting new material alongside anthems from their multi-platinum, multiple Grammy-winning catalogue, which includes the likes of The Pretender, Best of You, All My Life, Learn To Fly, Everlong and more. This will be the final chance for Foo’s fans to see their music heroes live and loud in Ireland for a long time, so must not be missed.

black eyed peasThe Black Eyed Peas are back by huge public demand and will bring their spectacular stage show to Oxegen.  The band have secured their reputation as one of the most popular, innovative and exciting live acts of the last decade and will arrive fresh from their all-conquering headline slot at the Wireless Festival in London.  With huge dance infused beats and anthemic hit tracks, 2009’s album ‘The E.N.D’ pushed boundaries in pop music, selling more than 11 million copies worldwide and driving the group well ahead of the pop pack.

Also on the bill and top of festival fans’ wish lists for favourite festival acts are
Arctic Monkeys.  They released their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ in 2006 and haven’t looked back since.   In 2009 ‘Humbug’ became their 3rd consecutive Number 1 LP and Oxegen fans will be in for a treat when they debut songs from forthcoming 4th studio album. Arctic Monkeys are a band of the people, totally in tune with a new generation of live music lovers.  With two albums still in the top 40 in Ireland, Paolo Nutini’s return to Oxegen is also in much demand. The Scots troubadour now tops the bill at festivals all over the world.

It’s a ‘fans favourites’ feast of talent for 2011 – an overwhelming overload of the biggest established and best breakthrough bands, ONLY at Oxegen. With the fan input and experience firmly at the heart of the event, it seems only fitting that the announcement was made direct to the fans last night at 8pm, via the artists themselves at   www.oxegen.ie

John Probyn, Festival Director said“I’m overwhelmed at the excitement from the bands who are playing Oxegen and very pleased to unveil the line up to the fans who helped us create it. We have pulled out all the stops to deliver this A List line-up. Some of these bands won’t be back playing Ireland for quite some time, which is going to make their appearances all the more special.  We have decided to announce it direct to the fans this year via the artists themselves at oxegen.ie. To be part of a festival that unites the fans and the bands in this way is unique.  With a line-up like this, I’m certain 2011 is going to be the most memorable Oxegen yet.”

The list of newly announced bands further proves that Oxegen is the must attend music event of 2011.

swedish house mafiaThe infamous Swedish House Mafia are set to tear it up when they take to the Oxegen stage.  Huge individually and riotous together, the superstar trio of DJ’s Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell take dance music to another level when performing as a collective.  They stormed the charts with Tinie Tempah last year providing the unofficial soundtrack to the summer with dance floor anthem ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’.

Brandon Flowers will be wearing his solo hat for the first time at Oxegen this year.  The charismatic frontman of rock and roll supergroup The Killers released his debut solo album ‘Flamingo’ to wide scale acclaim from critics and fans alike, with both album and hit single ‘Crossfire’ claiming UK number ones.  A fashion icon, talented songwriter and performing genius, Ireland welcomes a legend in the making.

It’s raw rock’n’roll one minute, and classic pop the next from Beady Eye, as they confirm their appearance at this year’s Oxegen. Beady Eye will be performing songs from their debut album, released next week entitled “Different Gear, Still Speeding”. Beady Eye is the band formed by ex Oasis members Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

Fresh from picking up two NME Awards for Best International Band and Best Video for ‘Na Na Na’,       My Chemical Romance are currently on a massive UK and American tour with album ‘Danger Days’.  Frontman Gerard Way has become the icon of the punk rock generation with legions of adoring fans.  Renowned for soaring live performances and electrifying guitar riffs, their summer set in Ireland is sure to burst a few ear drums.

Influential multi-platinum, Grammy winning alternative rock band Weezer will wow the crowd at Oxegen with their series of hits and new tracks from their forthcoming album ‘Hurley’ – a return to their indie roots with a highly personal and sonically exploratory album guaranteed to delight their fans. It seems only fitting that one of the most accomplished and genre defining modern rock bands on the planet come to Punchestown.

pendulumHailing from Perth, Australia, Pendulum already have two platinum albums already under their belt and they are back with their most enthralling work to date, with forthcoming third album ‘Immersion.’  They will quite literally immerse the Oxegen crowd in one of the most visceral and exhilarating live experiences on the planet when they play Punchestown.

BRIT award winner for British Solo Male Plan B and winner of British Single and British Breakthrough Artist Tinie Tempah are two of the UK’s biggest success stories and their respective performances at Oxegen are sure to show why. With the release of his multi-platinum selling second album ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’, dapper lyrical geniusPlan B proved he is the ultimate package and one of the most talented and versatile artists in UK music.

tinie tempahTinie Tempah is breaking records and boundaries in British music and hit single ‘Pass Out’ was the smash hit of 2010, recently resulting in the BRIT award for British Single. He has also worked with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Ellie Goulding and Kelly Rowland and will undoubtedly pass out all the hits and pull out all the stops at Punchestown.

With an  extraordinary 26 year history Primal Scream have got all the stories and all the hits and this year, they will present one of their very biggest ‘Screamadlica’ to the Oxegen crowd in its entirety.  For a man who’s been making music for over quarter of a century now, it’s reassuring that Bobby still has passion for what he does and for performing one of the most thrilling and important records of the modern era, live at Oxegen.

From some uber cool boys to one seriously hot girl, Oxegen will welcome a sizzling set from BRITs Critcs Choice award winner Jessie J – just one of the many other triumphant and talented acts confirmed for Oxegen 2011.

Magentic Man to join SW4 Sunday 28th August 2011

magnetic man

Playing a London Festival Exclusive, this is what Magentic Man had to say:

SW4 is an important gig for us! It’s on our home turf, the atmosphere is always incredible and we can get a taxi home at the end. We can’t wait to tear it up in front of our friends and family. This will also be the only chance to catch us in the great outdoors, in the capital this year. So it’s going to be very special indeed – see you there!” (Skream)

magentic manAfter pioneering the dubstep sound from their Big Apple Records HQ in Croydon, Skream, Benga and Artwork formed Magnetic Man. As with many a superhero, their lair no longer exists. But the trio have moved onto bigger conquests, creating an inimitable dark and bassy sound that has rumbled its way to core gigs worldwide. Having played Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds and Manchester’s Parklife last year, they were handpicked by Deadmau5 to support his sell out UK tour – with mind bending shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Coventry and London’s Earls Court.

Studio wise, Magnetic Man are a dominant force. Debut release ‘I Need Air’ was followed up by massive collaborations with Katy B, Ms Dynamite and John Legend – affirming their creative nous and versatility. With October’s debut album released to rave reviews, they have earned a reputation amongst the production elite. With ongoing support from names such as Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Mistajam and Pete Tong, Magnetic Man’s live show is simply devastating. Set to destroy SW4 2011 with their brand of mutant basslines, don’t miss the magnificent Magnetic Man as they blow up our Main Stage this summer.
