One Love Festival details

Amongst the top reggae acts – including Aba Shanti-I, Cornell Campbell, Dawn Penn, the Disciples, Dub Syndicate, Iration Steppas, King Tubby, Monkey Mafia, Macka B, Smith & Mighty, Michigan and Smiley – there are a whole raft of top quality electronic music acts playing the Lively Up Yourself marquee at the event.

Tailoring to an extent their sets to reflect One Love's vibe, some great dubstep and dance acts will be rolling up to throw down some big anthems.

Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pistols has curated the dance tent on the Saturday night, bringing some of his peers along to join his Dub Pistols Soundsystem. Breakbeat legend Krafty Kuts, acclaimed duo The Freestylers, Mooqee & Pimpsoul, aka the Bombstrikes Soundsystem, and the Drum Monkeys will be spinning dubwise breaks, electro-house and other sounds in keeping with the event.

Meanwhile, on the Friday night, dubstep comes to the dub festival, which was set up in memory of reggae legend Bob Marley. Curated by top dubstep-inclined audio-visual crew the Urban Knights, the line-up is headed by dubstep pioneer Hatcha, one of the sound's pioneers since his days in Croydon with Skream & Benga and the like. The Kiss FM DJ will be joined by Eddie K, Fonti & Bushkin (formerly the Heartless Crew), Killsonic, and the Urban Knights themselves.

Sub Club Sound System and Soma Records set for RockNess 2012

In an announcement of cosmic proportions, RockNess today confirms a constellation of electronic acts guaranteed to unleash an unearthly level of dancefloor devastation this June. What’s more, the stratospheric celebrations are set to land on the Scottish Highlands for three days in a brand new stage concept – THE ARCADIA UFO – the likes of which Scotland has never seen!

Brought to RockNess by Arcadia, originators of the now legendary Afterburner, THE ARCADIA UFO is a 360 degree rave machine from outer space, based on a flying saucer, and guaranteed to get the party people well and truly moving! Loaded with an armoury of brand new high powered effects and a thunderous sound system, this incredible new sculpted arena, which replaces the Afterburner, will crash land into the festival radiating fire, light, lasers and intergalactic vibrations. Head there as dusk falls for a truly space age experience for 2012! And the soundtrack to THE ARCADIA UFO is suitably galaxy-spanning too.

Having thrown the mother of all birthday parties at RockNess last year to celebrate an output of outstanding electronica spanning 20 years, our friends at SOMA RECORDS are back with an almighty bang for 2012, assuming control of THE ARCADIA UFO on Friday and Saturday and with a line up set to eclipse last year’s now legendary birthday euphoria.

First up is an artist who enjoys one of the most loyal & die-hard fanbases of all, JAMES HOLDEN. Founder of the Zeitgeist Border Community label, and hugely in demand as a remixer extraordinaire, HOLDEN’s record releases – including his recent rave reviewed DJ Kicks compilation on the K7! Label – plus packed out globetrotting DJ sets are as forward thinking as house and techno gets. It is a great honour and pleasure to have him on the bill.

Known as the '3 Deck Master' and 'The Machine', BEN SIMS is an unstoppable force on the global electronic circuit. His Theory Recordings imprint, much of which enjoys cult status, is highly regarded by the scene’s mightiest players, and the skill and dexterity of his mixing knows no bounds. With a signature of tough funk and hard grooves, it is with much excitement that RockNess and SOMA RECORDS welcomes BEN SIMS to play his first ever set in the Scottish Highlands.

ANDREW WEATHERALL is one of the world’s most respected and dedicated DJs, an exponent of consistently cutting edge, genre defying music. Throughout the decades he has been a driving force at the heart of the most seminal movements. Where WEATHERALLleads others follow. His set last year as part of the SOMA RECORDS birthday party was of such blistering repute that, by popular demand, he’s back for more. And what a treat we have lined up as ANDREW WEATHERALL & SEAN JOHNSTON present ‘A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE’ – a five hour set incorporating cosmic disco and house in its many different guises but never exceeding 122 BPM. Having started life in an intimate East London basement (The Drop) to showcase "an oasis of slowness in a world of increasing velocity", ‘A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE’ has built its reputation as London’s best mid-week club night. Now in a Scottish festival exclusive, SOMA RECORDS bring the maestros to Dores for what will be the perfect start to the party.

Picking up the pace after the sun sets with their deep and warming house sound will be Glasgow legends SILICONE SOUL aka Craig Morrison & Graeme Reedie. Expect an abundance of new tracks dropping at RockNess as the duo will have just released their Soma20 Remixes album complete with reworks from the biggest names in house music, plus a much anticipated new EP this summer.

This sublimely curated line up join the other recently announced SOMA RECORDS acts; ‘Baron of Techno’ DAVE CLARKE, Dirty Bird and Mothership boss CLAUDE VONSTROKE and the fast rising forward thinking ANIMAL FARM.

Speaking about this year’s proposition on the brand new UFO, Soma Records boss DAVE CLARKE said "it's almost time for more unforgettable experiences around the Soma stage at RockNess. Last year was truly special and we aim to make this year's shenanigans even more so. Bring your stomping boots. Make no mistake, this is going to Rock."

Twenty five years ago the SUB CLUB opened in Glasgow. Since then, it has carved a reputation as one of the greatest clubs on the planet, always at the forefront and never compromising on its ethos of exceptional music. Now, following its inaugural landing on Dores last year, the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM is back as we celebrate the club’s 25 YEARS with a line up oozing quality and class and more incredible names still to be revealed.

Formerly known as Ramadanman and head honcho of the esteemed Hessle Audio label, PEARSON SOUND pushes the boundaries from garage to deep house vibes with a masterful execution and clarity that has seen him hailed one of the most influential producers around. A regular at Fabric where his blinding sets never fail to demolish the dancefloor, PEARSON SOUND at RockNess is not to be missed.

Credited as one of the key figures to have pushed the NYC house music scene of the 00’s into a new era with a consistently unmatched vitality and coherence, LEVON VINCENT’s star continues to rise. Although anything but a newcomer. VINCENT’s recent fame can be seen only as welcome payoff. Through his outstanding imprints, Novel Sound and Deconstruct Music (with Anthony Parasole) and alongside Jus-Ed’s Underground Quality stable, VINCENT’s raw sound epitomizes the very essence of house music. Early arrival strongly recommended. LEVON VINCENT will smash the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM.

Hailing from Paris, and one of France’s most wanted radio hosts and selectors, IVAN SMAGGHE has the ability to play music like a raw conduit between his famously obscure records and the dancefloor’s strobe-soaked bodies. Belonging to a top table often described as “The DJ’s DJs, SMAGGHE’s genre defying/defining production work originally in Blackstrobe and now in ‘It’s a Fine Line’, sees him injecting something of himself seamlessly into every mix. Having held residencies at both Fabric and The Rex Club in Paris, IVAN SMAGGHE commands respect of the highest order and RockNess is extremely pleased to be welcoming him this year.

Bristol boy EATS EVERYTHING (aka Dan Pearce) loves solid booty shaking beats and basslines, house "with a little more grunt". Continuing to set the pace for heavy releases in 2012 through San Francisco’s tech funk Dirtybird label, and winning support from the likes of Seth Troxler, Claude VonStroke, Pete Tong along the way, EATS EVERYTHING will descend all guns blazing on the SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM this summer.

Regarded as one of the most forward thinking club nights in the world, the Sub Club’s weekly SUBCULTURE residency is an institution that reigns supreme. HARRI and DOMENIC are revered by the electronic music fraternity the world over and week in week out bodies are well and truly jacked at this over two-decade-strong residency. Expect a storming party at RockNess as we celebrate 25 years of exemplary house music from the much respected duo, and toast the prospect of many more future treats.

Serving up lashings of deep, soulful house against a tech laced, percussion driven set, the brilliant SENSU comprises of Barry Price, Esa Williams and Chris ‘Junior’ Ingram. The trio nearly blew the roof off last year’s inaugural SUB CLUB SOUND SYSTEM as they unleashed a sensational live performance to a packed out audience. This year promises to be every bit as special, remaining true to theSENSU motto of good music, good people and good times.

THUNDER DISCO CLUB provide a stylistic disco-infused aphrodisiac to Glasgow’s brimming scene that clubbers will have been hard pressed to have missed. As one of the most recognisable brands in the city, and now a monthly fixture at the SUB CLUB, the collective brings a succession of on-point bookings, inspired themes and an ever-lasting lust for all things devious to its audience. Expect a set brimming with sunshine grooves come June.

Armed with Serato, two quick hands and the most diverse crate of dance floor fillers you’re likely to hear, BOOM MONK BEN is a frenzied fanatic of all things bass. From hip hop, dancehall, funk and breakbeats to house, dubstep and drum and bass if it makes theBOOM BEN move you’ll be hearing it this summer at RockNess. His monthly HYP? night at the Sub Club welcomes the foremost exponents of all things electronic and his Mixed Bizness music promotion agency is much respected.

Sub Club director MIKE GRIEVE commented “Rockness 2012 provides the perfect platform for the Sub Club to take the underground overground. With 25 years under our belt and a line-up of exceptional quality ready to represent in our anniversary year, we are raring to go – can't wait!!"

Finally, for now at least, taking to the ARCADIA UFO decks on Sunday as part of MYLO’s very special one off EPP PARTY will be mysterious duo TIGER and WOODS. The pair have been causing a commotion of late through the strength of a series of hand-stamped white labels and outrageously groovy mixes largely pulled from the disco boogie universe, so it with much excitement we await their sonic treats.

Joining the EPP PARTY is French DJ and producer YUKSEK. Ladled with sumptuous, buzzy electronic vibes, heard in all their glory on excellent recent album ‘Living on the Edge of Time’, a sublime soundtrack of top notch tunes await the RockNess crowd.

And bringing Sunday night’s UFO experience to an almighty superlative-defying climax will be MYLO. Expect a full scale hip wiggling, nu disco inferno mixed up with trademark genius throwbacks as we welcome Scotland’s beat loving electro wizard back to RockNess for his first appearance since the very first RockNess seven years ago.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Festival Director JIM KING said, “It’s birthday greetings all round at RockNess this year and there are some must see DJs coming to celebrate with Soma and the Sub Club. The Arcadia UFO Stage is brand new and takes off from where the Afterburner left last year. The Arcadia have promised it’s even better than the Afterburner and we know it’s one of the best stages at the festival and the perfect place for Weatherall to return with ‘A Love from Outer Space’. Tiger & Woods and Ivan Smagghe are super hot and I can’t wait to see them as well. Sub Club is already looking really great and good news is there is still more for them to announce.”

Today ATP announce some fantastic new additions to all three days of the event – highlighted by the reformation of THE MAKE-UP who play on the Sunday…

On Friday 25th May the incomparable Slayer present their classic Reign In Blood LP live in it's entirety during their headline set to celebrate it's 25th anniversary. They're joined by a diverse bill of heavy music highlighted by the legendary Sleep and Melvins, black metal heroes Wolves In The Throne Room, Oregon doom metallers Yob and we can now also announce DEATH GRIPS – one of the most acclaimed new hip hop acts of the last year and an amazing live act. Friday day tickets are available for 39 pounds.

On Saturday 26th May Mogwai will headline and curate the rest of the day's line-up – this will be their only show in England in 2012. Alongside their previously announced choices of Mudhoney, reformed slow-core group Codeine, the amazing Dirty Three, cult alt rock band Chavez, Floor (feat. members of Torche) and Balam Acab, today we can add noise rock group HARVEY MILK, the fantastic BILL WELLS & AIDAN MOFFAT who released an amazing LP in 2011, and also San Francisco's post-punk influenced THE SOFT MOON and Berlin based composer/DJ ANTONI MAIOVVI with more to be confirmed. Saturday day tickets are available for 59 pounds.

On Sunday 27th May, as well as our being headlined by the first show in 13 years from Cincinnati's rock legends The Afghan Whigs, much loved and recently reformed American indie-rock group Archers Of Loaf, San Francisco's Thee Oh Sees, the mysterious Demdike Stare, Canadian psych-folk group Siskiyou and Yuck, today we are happy to announce an exclusive reformation…

THE MAKE-UP, signed to America's legendary Dischord records and made up of ex-members of the highly influential Nation Of Ulysses, were one of the most exciting indie/post-rock groups of the 1990s, blending soul, garage rock and gospel into an incomparable mix, and through their energetic and participatory shows quickly creating a reputation as an unmissable live act. Their bio describes their shows as "characterized by the freneticism, catharsis and spirituality of what can only be described as GOSPEL MUSIC. They are a total departure from the boring pantomime of rock 'n' roll as we know it, inflicting a sublime theatre on their audience which resembles a baptism, or perhaps an orgy." The band split in 2000 after just five years and a series of much loved albums – and return at the request of ATP for I'll Be Your Mirror London as a UK exclusive.

Another recently reformed group will also play the Sunday – led by the legendary Kool Keith and hailing from New York City's Bronx, ULTRAMAGNETIC MCs will play a rare UK exclusive show at this event playing from their classic LPs including 1988's amazing Critical Beatdown. Also added to the Sunday are cult UK producer FOREST SWORDS, California's SLEEPY SUN who return with their third album this Spring, Denver indie pop group TENNIS, and alt-folk duo TALL FIRS, with more to be confirmed.

Irish rock band The Saw Doctors will take to the stage on Sunday 10th June. Having achieved a spectacular nineteen top 30 singles in Ireland, including three number ones, and developed a reputation for their barnstorming live performances, crowds will go wild for their Irish charm.

The Saw Doctors

Storming onto the British scene, this year’s international act of the moment, Francois & The Atlas Mountains will be performing at this year’s Wychwood Festival. A multi-talented songwriter, musician, animator and artist, Francoise Marry’s French roots combined with his British influences have created a swell of rhythmic piano chords, shimmering electric guitars and a blend of styles unique to any other act releasing new material at this moment. Francoise’s fluctuation between French and English lyrics is both charming and hypnotic. A must see act for 2012.

Hawkind are one of the earliest space rock groups and since forming in 1969 they have been recognized as the precursor to punk rock and are considered a link between the hippie and punk cultures. Expect the bizarre with an urban and science themed set to thoroughly entertain at this year’s festival.

Britpop English power pop rock trio Dodgy are welcomed to this year’s Wychwood bringing classic crowd pleasers, ‘Good Enough’ and ‘Staying Out For The Summer’ that will undoubtedly create quite a stir and stick firm in the minds of revelers for years to come. Accordionist Sharon Shannon has music at her fingertips with her multi-maligned accordion playing bringing songs influenced by her Irish roots but also stretching across all musical genres including Hip-Hop, Cajan, Country, Classical and Rap. Past collaborators include Bono, The Waterboys, Sinead O’Connor plus she’s entertained the likes of Bill Clinton and The Sultan in Australia and is no stranger to the stage, having become a genre-defying star with multi-platinum album sales.

Today’s final announcement arrives with the champions of Pop music, Oxford band Alphabet Backwards. With their infectiously catchy tracks, their punctuated and irresistible synth buzz and a thoroughly entertaining live show, Alphabet Backwards will make you their number one fan. Already receiving airplay from 6Music’s Tom Robinson, Steve Lamaq and Huw Stephens’, they will delight crowds at Wychwood Festival 2012.

Wychwood Festival is shaping up to be the most exciting line-up since it’s birth in 2005. With a hugely saturated festival market fans will flock to the Gloucestershire countryside to experience the best in world and folk music in an utterly delightful atmosphere enjoyed by all who choose to place it in their summer calendar. Today Wychwood announces new acts to ensure festival lovers make Wychwood their number one stop this summer.

Graham Coxon, Baxter Dury and more set for Live at Jodrell Bank 2012

Live From Jodrell Bank sees artists performing large-scale outdoor concerts in the shadow of the iconic Lovell telescope, one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world and the Blur lead guitarist and solo artist is a welcome addition to what is shaping up to be a spectacular bill.  Graham releases his highly anticipated 8th solo album ‘A + E’ on 2nd April and his records mix alt-rock, folk and lo-fi with consummate ease.  Graham Coxon is revered by his musical peers being described by Noel Gallagher as ‘the most gifted guitarist of his generation’ and has previously collaborated with Paul Weller on the single ‘This Old Town’.

Graham recently picked up the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award with Blur at the NME Awards and his set will be the perfect prelude to the Modfather taking the stage.

Baxter Dury showcases the expertly constructed psychedelic pop joy of his ‘Happy Soup’ album.  His sharp portraits of odd ball characters and hook laden storytelling have marked him out as a wordsmith of some renown and his self professed ‘seaside psychadelia’ is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Collaborators of choice to the A-list, Little Barrie have also been added to a sonically charged line up.  Having worked with Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, Spiritualized and Paul Weller himself, the band’s lead guitarist Barrie Cadogan is often referred to as the greatest guitarist of his generation and his band bring their undiluted rock n’ roll swagger to Jodrell Bank for what is set to be an unforgettable live performance.

Currently residing at Number 1 in the album chart with ‘Sonik Kicks’, Paul Weller is an internationally acclaimed star whose song-writing is a huge part of British Culture, throughout his musical career from his early days in The Jam, to his much loved hits with The Style Council, as well as a solo career spanning over 20 years. With Brit Awards, Mercury Nominations and an Ivor Novello Award, Paul Weller has provided music lovers with hits such as The Changing ManYou Do Something To Me and Wake Up the Nation.

Elbow’s show at Live From Jodrell Bank on 23rd June sold out in 90 minutes and tickets for Paul Weller’s date are selling fast so early booking is essential to see artists performing in this amazing setting.

The Live From Jodrell Bank series sees some of the most innovative artists performing in this unique and dramatic setting, marrying science and music and bringing the audience superlative sounds from earth and beyond. The bands will even project visuals onto the 76 metre Lovell telescope. For over five decades, the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been part of the Cheshire landscape and an internationally renowned landmark for astronomers.  Since the summer of 1957 it has been exploring the depths of outer space in a quest for knowledge. It remains one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world, spending most of its time investigating cosmic phenomena that were undreamed of when it was first conceived.

Evile, Marionette and more added to Bloodstock 2012

Guitarist Old Drake comments:

"It was great to wake up to the confirmation of our appearance at the one and only Bloodstock Festival. With the release of our "Five Serpent's Teeth" album we dedicated the track "Centurion" to the festival, and for them to have us back with a great slot on the Sophie Lancaster stage, it's bound to be a show to remember. We may just even have a special, first time live-airing, of the previously mentioned track for the BOA masses. Come along for your Evile fix! Long live Bloodstock!"

Making their UK festival debut, Gothenburg’s MARIONETTE will help get the party started on the Thursday night on the SOPHIE stage. With their roots in melodic death metal, last year’s “Nerve” album saw the band evolve into something truly unique, combining industrial laced metal with stunning soundscapes, earning them rave reviews across the board. "Our sights are firmly set on the UK following our recent run there with Dead By April, "Slay The UK tour" in May and our upcoming appearance at Bloodstock Open Air in August.” Says guitarist and mainman Aron Parmerud. “ BOA is a festival we have heard great things about from fans and bands we have toured with and we look forward to tearing up the East Midlands again!"

They are joined by Brighton rockers FURYON, who’s recently released Gravitas album is currently earning them praise and adoration across the world of rock. Iconic riffs, jaw dropping solos and one of the tightest rhythm sections this country has ever produced, the SOPHIE stage is in for a treat. The band checked in to say:

“Furyon are delighted to be booked for the immense bloodstock for our second year and are proud to be able to contribute to the sophie lancaster stage and foundation.”

They are joined by UK metal mongers DERISION, who will deliver a furious set of 80s inspired thrash bound to go down a storm at the UK’s most metal festival.

At only £115 for a four day ticket with camping included, BLOODSTOCK offers incredible value for money and more exclusive appearances than any other festival. With headline sets from BEHEMOTH, ALICE COOPER, plus a very very special mystery headliner – to be revealed at 6pm on the 6th June – comedy, fairground rides and a genuine real ale bar, there is no better place for the British metalhead this summer.
