Kraftwerk set for T in the Park

With Kraftwerk currently wowing audiences and critics alike with their run of hugely in-demand shows at Tate Modern (which have gained a slew of 5-star reviews), festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are thrilled to announce that they have joined the line-up for T in the Park’s 20th year, which takes place over 12th – 14th July.

The band remain at the cutting edge of contemporary music after over 40 years of musical experimentation. Celebrated for their ground-breaking albums including Autobahn, Trans-Europe Express, Radio-Activity, and the most recent Tour de France, their live shows are renowned for their exhilarating fusion of music, art and visuals. From their legendary Kling Klang studio in Düsseldorf, they arguably created the soundtrack for the digital age with their innovative looping techniques and computerised, robotic rhythms. Kraftwerk will make a welcome return to the UK forT in the Park’s 20th year in what will be their first ever performance at the festival, accompanied by the same stunning 3D visuals, animation and projections that have been wowing audiences at Tate Modern.

Geoff Ellis, Festival Director, said: “Kraftwerk are a truly seminal band. Their revolutionary sound altered the face of contemporary music, and paved the way for so many artists across so many musical genres. Autobahn was the first album I ever acquired and I witnessed them perform it live in its entirety at the Tate Modern last Wednesday when I was in the audience for the first of their run of shows there. They were absolutely amazing and I was blown away – it really was a life-affirming night. They are a massively influential group and an incredible live act, and we are hugely excited to welcome Kraftwerk to T in the Park for the first time this July, in what will be a very special moment in our 20th year celebrations.”

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager, said: “Since we joined forces with DF Concerts as the founding partner of T in the Park in 1994, we’ve seen some the world’s finest artists perform at the festival. The festival continues to attract the very best in musical talent, and I’m sure Kraftwerk will treat fans to a memorable performance. Anticipation is already building for what is going to be a tremendous weekend and we’re very much looking forward to the 20th year event.”

Organisers are set to unveil yet more top acts for the T20th bill next week, with Kraftwerk joining a glittering array of already announced artists including headliners Mumford & Sons, Rihannaand The Killers, plus Emeli Sandé, The Script, Two Door Cinema Club, alt-J, Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg, Of Monsters and Men and Azealia Banks.

There is a warm, inclusive welcome, synonymous with the small festival experience, an ethos of fun and participation, and an incredible array of entertainments. With over six stages and many nooks, crannies and secret wooded glades to discover Nozstockers are invited on a journey of discovery through the dingles and the dells of this magical site

Line up

In a career spanning 40 years, Chas & Dave are without doubt one of Britain’s longest running and most cherished acts. Chas Hodges (piano, vocals, banjo, guitars) and Dave Peacock (bass guitar, vocals, banjo, guitars) began playing together way back in 1972.  With hits like Gertcha, Rabbit, The Sideboard Song and Margate, they created a sound that was uniquely British and rockin' to boot. And it’s those songs that have ensured that the boys have continued to tour for over five decades to audiences across the world, enchanted by their East End charm and witty song-writing

Their contribution to popular culture was recognised recently by BBC Four with an hour-long documentary detailing their career and influence. The critically acclaimed show was based around the 2011 tour and featured input from Jools Holland, Phill Jupitus, and Pete Doherty to name a few. Also just announced are festival favourites The Dub Pistols (fronted by the enigmatic Barry Ashworth), teenage buzz band The Strypes (tipped by NME as one of the most exciting new bands of 2013), The Beat, Benny Page, The Computers and Ava Leigh plus the legendary RAM Records takeover of The Cubicles dance arena. Jessie J and Example to headline Sundown Festival

DJ Fresh – the man behind hit dance tracks Gold DustLouder and Hot Right Now – is the second artist to be confirmed for Saturday’s main stage line-up

Jessie J

Sunday’s main stage headliner is none other than one of the biggest female singers in the UK today… the sensational Jessie J is coming to Sundown Festival 2013! The Do it Like a Dude, Who’s Laughing Now and Nobody’s Perfect singer – whoseDomino video has racked up more than 100million views on video sharing site YouTube – has been repeatedly called for, by Sundown Festival audiences, to perform at the huge end-of-summer event
