Bringing cutting edge beats, a top of the range lighting spec and the big club atmosphere straight to the heart of the Scottish countryside, Slam 2013 will see the most in-demand DJs and hottest mixing talent take to the decks over 12th – 14th July. Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have today unveiled a phenomenal line-up curated by world renowned dance powerhouse Slam, and have announced that for the second year running the Slam Tent will open on the Friday night, giving dance fans a whole extra night to party.
More than anyone else in modern electronic music, Richie Hawtin has made his mark on electronic music by being inventive and relentlessly proving himself to be a true innovator. The one-man mogul behind acclaimed techno imprints Plus 8 & Minus sends constantly evolving signals out all over the world and his DJ reputation has earned him many Best International DJ awards with fans and the music industry. His Plastikman persona has given techno a unique face with a series of four ruthlessly minimal albums of skeletal beauty and his breathtaking live sets have packed dancefloors across the globe, and helped to invent stadium techno. Having performed a rare live set as Plastikman in 2010 in the Slam Tent, he returns to DJ at T in the Park this summer for the first time since 2008.
Swedish techno master Adam Beyer has been spinning a wide range of hiphop, hiphouse, acid and techno since the early 90s. His own hard, percussive and loop oriented style and deft production skills have made him one of the world’s most in demand producer/DJs and his meteoric rise has been cited as one of the catalysts for Swedish techno’s current influence.
Voted Best DJ of 2012 in a Resident Advisor poll, Detroit-born Seth Troxler continues to ignite the world of house and techno with a constant barrage of vocal jams. Having collaborated with major dance luminaries, he is one of the most in demand DJs and producers in the world.
Flying the flag for Berlin’s infamous Berghain nightclub and Ostgut Ton record label, Ben Klock &Marcel Dettmann (b2b) are known for their uncompromising take on techno, both in production and DJing style. The pair have won plaudits for bringing a raw and authentic feel back to techno and will get the Slam crowd going with their famous Berghain sound when they play a special back to back DJ set.
In the past two decades, Slam have defined techno in Scotland, cultivated many artists of note on their Soma label, and remixed everyone from Daft Punk to Underworld. Their weekly Slam Radio show has become the most listened to techno show on Soundcloud attracting listeners from around the globe. The legendary UK duo Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, leaving scorch marks on dance floors across the world and return home to T in the Park for the festival’s 20th year.
Three of the world’s greatest DJ pioneers DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter & Mark Farina (b2b) are sure to deliver a jawdropping set. One of house music’s true pioneers, DJ Sneak’s signature funky filtered disco-influenced house and tough, jacking beats have revolutionised and redefined the genre for well over 15 years. Derrick Carter and Mark Farina are two great pinnacles of Chicago house music's '90s wave, and the three unite for a very special set at T in the Park.
Next up is minimal house and techno connoisseur Nina Kraviz. The Russian producer, singer and DJ made a name for herself through hosting her own night at Moscow’s legendary Club Propaganda before taking her own brand of deep-house and soulful techno on tour, filling the dancefloors across the globe.
Dirtybird boss and tech-funk producer/DJ Claude VonStroke has headlined almost every major club, festival and basement after-party in the world. His outdoor dirtybird parties in San Francisco's scenic Golden Gate Park have become a legendary summer destination point for music fans, and he’ll surely get the crowd going in the Slam Tent this summer.
Leading the new wave of talented producers to emerge from Bristol within recent years, Eats Everything aka Daniel Pearce has defined a whole new genre of forward-thinking underground house music. Drawing elements from classic house, UK bass music, Detroit techno, jungle and early rave, he pays homage to everything from Randy Crawford to Ray Charles and Murk to MK.
Numbers co-founder Jackmaster’s star is rapidly rising, as showcased at parties from his native Glasgow to Berlin to New York, and from superclubs such as Berghain and Fabric to legendary underground warehouse raves. With a new monthly show as part of BBC Radio 1′s In New DJs We Trust series under his belt, he’s sure to receive a local hero’s welcome at T in the Park.
Mired in British dance culture, Joy Orbison's brand of garage-house marries elements of house, two-step, jungle, techno and dubstep and has been attracting major critical acclaim. Alongside the release of the gargantuan Hyph Mngo which was hailed as the most essential purchase of the season and material on his own imprint Doldrums, notorious mixes for Radio 1 and Ministry have well and truly cemented his reputation as one of the UK’s hottest new talents.
Also heading to the Slam Tent this summer are Glasgow’s own DJ/production duo Silicone Soul. They are set to release an album on Soma to mark ten years since their subterranean parallel project and label Darkroom Dubs first unleashed its uniquely idiosyncratic take on house music. Charged with the purest distillation of the edgy early hours spirit from which house music was originally forged, Darkroom Dubs has become renowned for Silicone Soul’s walks on the dark side; the ultimate bastion of deep electronic dance music.
Back for its 17th year at T in the Park, the Slam Tent has an atmosphere second to none, with many more artists to be announced. The unveiling of another top-notch line-up set to rumble the walls and raise the roof of the tent comes hot on the heels of the announcement that electronic pioneers Kraftwerk will play the festival’s 20th year in July, meaning T in the Park truly is the ultimate destination for discerning dance music fans.
Organisers are set to unveil yet more top acts for the T20th bill next week, with headlinersMumford & Sons, Rihanna and The Killers, plus Kraftwerk, Emeli Sandé, The Script, Two Door Cinema Club, alt-J, Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg, Of Monsters and Men and Azealia Banks already confirmed.
Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival returns for a 7th consecutive year – the ONLY 3 day fully independent and boutique green field festival held in the UK.
Set inside the great halls, the beautiful grounds of and against the stunning backdrop that is the stately and family home Burton Agnes Hall – the most perfect of settings and that which was featured in the Daily Telegraph’s top UKfestivals for 2012.
The festival will once again showcase some of the UK’s finest jazz and blues acts in the most stunning, magnificent and serene of surroundings creating a beautiful and intimate festival experience for all.
A varied line up of funk, traditional jazz, blues, dreamy vocals and everything in between will adorn the courtyards and stages and festival goers will be mesmerized with its diverse and premium bill that will combine jazz greats, international legends alongside cutting edge and new artists.
The Halls front lawn hosts the festival’s main stage with rolling fields behind and pristine woodland to the side.
Inside the Hall, intimate acoustic performances mix with original Elizabethan carvings and French Impressionist art to create an inimitable festival experience.
The courtyards are also alive with intimate performances throughout the full weekend too.
Local food and drink feature heavily at the festival and festival goers can indulge in home-baked treats, barbecued local meats, freshly prepared meals and salads grown in the neighboring walled garden.
In the beer tent, the award winning Wold Top beer is on tap, brewed just five miles away from the festival site.
A campsite in the field adjacent to the Hall offers welcome hot showers and panoramic views of the Yorkshire Wolds for those wishing to pitch a tent for a night or the whole weekend.
With its safe and easy going vibe, there is plenty on offer for children including a Children’s Corner with play area, 15 acres of magical gardens to explore including a walled garden with maze, jungle garden and giant games and a woodland walk with forest creatures to find. Free face painting and balloon artistry keeps the children amused whilst the grown-ups enjoy some of the finest Jazz and Blues music in the UK.
This all goes towards creating a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly experience that will see Burton Agnes Hall once again welcome some of the finest Jazz and Blues artists from all across the UK and beyond.
Among the leading traditional jazz trumpet players on the eastern side of the Atlantic, arguably the most successful is Kenny Ball, a true legend.
Born in 1930 in Ilford, Essex, he began his career as a sideman in bands before forming his own in 1958. Moving away from the overworked traditional repertoire, the band sought out tuneful songs from all sources, gave them the ‘Kenny Ball’ treatment, gained hit after hit, and took the band to worldwide renown during the heyday of the traditional jazz boom of the 1960’s.
Probably the greatest test of an artist’s success is his durability. Along with his Jazzmen, Kenny is now in his 50th year and, as a band, they continue to put on a musical, swinging show, performed with energy and enthusiasm. A tour of Australiaand New Zealand in 2000, and a string of continuous gigs throughout Britain and Germany were typical among the average 150 dates per year the band fulfilled, up until 2002. At the start of the year recording began on the new album; in April Kenny was taken ill and battled with his illness to recover, complete the album, and return to performing in July.
Today, the love of music inspires Kenny to continue to record. With part of that original band, John Bennett (Trombone), and other members of his current band, “Jazzical Class” is on the verge of release. Kenny is a very content man, who still continues to produce some timeless, yet refreshing pieces of great jazz!
Predicted to be the next Irish blues guitar hero following in the footsteps of Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore, former Young Guitarist of the Year Simon McBride has undeniable guitar artistry combined with a fine voice and a real knack for creating memorable hooks and great melodies.
Having turned pro at 16, a UK tour opening for guitar wizard Joe Satriani, a set at Glastonbury Festival 2011, performing at Don Airey’s Soul & Blues Festival as well as supporting Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa, 2013 will see Simon headline the Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival – the sound of a world-class talent.
The announcement of new names for VOLT Festival was timed for Valentine’s Day, starting –stylishly- with Bullet for my Valentine. Since the appearance of the band we know that heavy metal exists in Wales and this genre is still among the most popular ones. They know everything about heavy metal that they adopt perfectly in their music by mixing styles of their ancestors and adding aggressive and fast beats with melodic chorus.
The biggest name in this current list is probably Hurts. The romantic and melancholic British synthpop duo has been popular from the very start. Their new album, Exile, will be out 11th March, so in Sopron the duo can test the fanbase live with their new songs.
Canadian punk rock band, Billy Talent, is on the stage for 20 years now being continuously successful for playing massive rock with a hint of punk pop. This year they are not only touring the world with their big hits but playing new songs from their album ‘Dead Silence’ released last autumn.
Papa Roach are true icons of nu metal and this time they will show the crowd in Sopron why they belong to rock history. Their gig is probably one of the most awaited events at this year’s VOLT, where the biggest hits of a generation will be heard.
French DJ Martin Solveig is an outstanding representative of his nation all around the world by making easy-going, sensual and witty dance music. And he’s ready to say Hello to the crowd at Sopron this July.
Dub Fx is not coming to prove anything. He has already shown his unique and outstanding production two years ago at a full-house gig, so it was high time for him to re-visit.
Godfather of techno, Sven Väth, not only makes the audience crazy at underground venues and trendy clubs but this year promises a huge party for VOLT Festival as well.
Fritz Kalkbrenner follows the steps of his techno icon brother by performing at VOLT this summer. The audience and the industry not only knows the German DJ for being the brother of Paul, but for breaking downloading records in online stores and for being a well-known name in the party scene.
Drum’n’bass is back and its most popular name is DJ Fresh who came out with his album Nextlevelism two years ago. The British DJ is not new in clubs. He knows everything about this genre, so we will see what he brings to VOLT: a huge drum’n’bass party or a more danceable night with his well-known tracks.
The Australian Parkway Drive is familiar not only among HC fans but also teen skaters for being heavy and aggressive. It has to be seen and heard with the possible chance of the volume blowing your mind.
Music that comes from Iceland in 2013 is cool. Representing this new trend, Gus Gus will play their sophisticated pop hits this year at VOLT. Their melancholic and frozen-romantic style will probably be very refreshing in the July heat, creating a unique atmosphere at the festival.
Besides the big names, many are interested in the exact location of the 21st VOLT Festival, starting in 4 and half months. The main organizers did not reveal any new information but have confirmed that VOLT will be held in Sopron in 2013 for sure.
For now, check the video for the new names: http://youtu.be/HcrtG0vP4Ls

The Berlin-based electro label Get Physical will take over the Sleepless Floor with a label special and the following acts: M.A.N.D.Y., Wankelmut, Catz 'N Dogz, Andhim and Smash TV (live).
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper festival without Ellen Allien's Bpitch crew ringing in the final hours at our nonstop stage with a Bpitch Special. We're also glad to have the Crosstown Rebels with us, celebrating 10 years of label history with a 'Rebel Rave' at the Big Wheel Stage: Damian Lazarus, Art Department, Jamie Jones, and further special guests are scheduled to appear.

Following a sensational sell out performance last year, which marked their UK comeback after a 20 year break, the Festival is delighted to welcome back Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, one of America’s most successful pop and rock group from the 1960s. The group will give fans another chance to hear many of theirclassic hits such as Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby Goodbye) and December 1963 (Oh What A Night)
The UK’s best ever selling classical artist Russell Watson will also be performing with his orchestra. Having won four Classical BRITS, Russell will perform many of his well-known songs including those from ‘Anthems’, his most recent album release. Russell’s special guests will be Amore, the stunning classical vocal quartet. Beth and Joe will feature songs from their highly anticipated second album due to be released in May, alongside selections from their critically acclaimed debut duo album, Don’t Explain. Beth and Joe are very excited by their new project and plan to bring their individual virtuoso strengths to a grand live stage in the beautiful setting of Hampton Court Palace.
We are also thrilled that the internationally acclaimed Björn Again, will bring a night of ABBA fun to theFestival. Designed as a rocked-up, light-hearted show, it rapidly achieved world-wide cult status and was acknowledged for single-handedly initiating the ABBA revival which brought about ABBA Gold, Muriel’s Wedding and MAMMA MIA! The enduring appeal of ABBA is reflected in the ongoing success of the Björn Again show, having amassed 5,000 performances in 71 countries in 25 years. The show was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne by Australian director and musician Rod Stephen. Recently acknowledged by ABBA’s blonde vocalist Agnetha Fältskog, Rod aims to keep his typically Australian production at the top and will continue for as long as people want to hear the much-loved ABBA repertoire performed the Björn Again way.
Now a veteran of the Hampton Court Palace Festival, Jools Holland will be one of the highlights of our summer concerts. His passion for music has made him a doyen of the music scene, and he was awarded an OBE in 2003 for his services to the British music industry. Jools’ phenomenal success has seen him sell millions of records throughout the course of his career and he holds the unique status of performing with musicians who have achieved success in every decade of the 20th Century. Special guests include the fantastic former Squeeze drummer Gilson Lavis, Roland Gift (the voice of Fine Young Cannibals) and Ruby Turner who together withJools and his fantastic Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will raise the roof of the magnificent Palace once again.

Last October Solange released her single ‘Losing You’ – an infectious, mid-tempo break-up anthem evocative of early 80’s R&B that became an instant viral success, with ‘Sleep in the Park’ featuring Of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes on the B-side. She thenreleased her highly anticipated seven-track EP ’True’. Headed by ‘Losing You’, it is released via Terrible, the label co-owned by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear and entirely co-written and produced by Solange and Field Day veteran Dev Hynes aka BloodOrange. ‘True’ has further set Solange apart – one we truly look forward to seeing at Field Day 2013.
Also confirmed is the winner of Resident Advisor’s 2012 DJ Poll, Seth Troxler, whose impressive career started in Detroit back in 2002 at the young age of 16. Since then, Seth has gone to ignite the world of house and techno with a constant barrage of vocal jams, winning over legions of fans for the singularity of his vision and inimitable bravado, which have made him one of the most captivating characters of modern dance music.
We are honoured to have performance poet John Cooper Clarke at Field Day this year. His biting, satirical verse delivered in his rapid-fire performance style hasresonated since the punk movement of the late 70s. After touring with most of punk’s seminal and ground breaking bands including the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Buzzcocks, The Fall, and Elvis Costello, to name but a few, he began to draw large crowds in his own right. Joy Division were proud to open for John on numerous occasions and New Order later supported him on their first joint Australian tour. One of Britain’s best loved and most important poets and performers, John is as vital now as he was then.
Also confirmed is Kurt Vile, who, once compared to Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty and Animal Collective in the same review brings to mind anything from Suicide to My Bloody Valentine and Nick Drake. He pieces together these disparate elements so seamlessly and unpretentiously that such reference points are rendered pointless by the singularity of his sound, reflected in his latest brilliant and critically acclaimedalbum ‘Smoke Ring For My Halo’ (Matador 2011).
Meanwhile, Virginia dream pop act Wild Nothing will bring their heavily 80’s rooted indie-pop of gentle harmonies, orchestrated synths and wandering voices that make up front man Jack Tatum’s ‘ideal world’ of pop music, portrait in their just-released, exceptional second album ‘Nocturne’.
Topping the Ones To Watch lists of 2013 are the ferocious four-piece Savages. With their highly awaited debut album still to be released in 2013, Savages' songs aim to remind us that music can still be straight to the point, efficient and exciting, while their live shows are truly electrifying. Also topping the lists for 2013 are Palma Violets, whose first single ‘Best of Friends’ was just voted NME’s song of the year and whose highly anticipated debut album ‘180’ is to be released next month. Often compared to The Libertines, 2013 will be a big year for this band and we are excited to have them at Field Day.
We are thrilled to welcome the unstoppable Mount Kimbie back to Field Day. With familiar beats underneath otherworldly productions, the electronic duo is arguably responsible for the birth of the term ‘post-dubstep’. Their debut album and live shows have garnered a cult status; recently signed to Warp, their second album isimminent. Expect a packed tent of devotees dancing to Mount Kimbie’s mesh of left field electronics, post-rock textures and bass weight – and new tracks to be aired for the first time at Field Day 2013!
Meanwhile Shed, the Berlin-based producer, and firm believer in the power of techno, will be the living example of how to reinvent oneself again and again within the boundaries of electronic music. Perfectly shown in his latest album ‘The Killer’ (2012), he melts and merges rough and demanding dance floor skeletons with shockingly detailed melodies, harmonic structures, irresistible hooks and airy arrangements, creating a never-ending climax of the groove.
Psychedelic pop artist Connan Mockasin has the kind of deliciously off-kilter and gloriously idiosyncratic worldview that rapidly proves addictive. Having toured with Charlotte Gainsbourg as her live band, as well as with Radiohead last November, and with new material planned for 2013, we can’t wait to have him on our stage.
After their debut EP ‘Some Reptiles Grew Wings’ produced by no other than Hudson Mohawke back in 2009 and two years of lying low, Egyptian Hip Hop finally released their anticipated debut album ‘Good Don’t Sleep’ last October. Be ready to be taken to a sonic world of their own, setting indie, prog-rock and 80s pop in between hypnotically pulsing rhythms and Elizabeth Fraser’s spine-tinglingly moving vocals which, at times, evoke the lush beauty of Cocteau Twins.
Also on board are Minneapolis band Dark Dark Dark. Fans of Beirut and Grizzly Bear will find plenty to appreciate in this chamber-folk quintet, with their spectral interludes, moments of muted drama, and backing vocals that sound like a Balkan choir, portrait in their beautiful new album ‘Who Needs Who’ (Supply & Demand/ Melodic, 2012).
With their just released eponymous debut, the duo Stubborn Heart emotes heartbreak over broken beats and dark, atmospheric space – a stunning and surprisingly poignant electronic soul record. Recently compared to The xx, SBTRKT and Four Tet, expect a clean, ghostly production coalescing with mournful vocals to positively ooze a bruised melancholy.
Also confirmed is Amateur Best, Joe Flory’s project that emerged from the ashes ofhis genius synth-pop proposal Primary 1, who will take us to the surreal world of his debut album/comic book ‘No Thrills’, out next month on Double Denim, featuring a collaboration with piano virtuoso Chilly Gonzales. Meanwhile, SPLASHH will showcase their myriad of floating, fuzz-laden grunge pop tunes, a result of leaving the beaches of the South Pacific behind and coming together to record in a small bedroom in Hackney.
Entering its seventh year, Field Day will be returning to the leafy green surroundings of Victoria Park with its unique formula of pioneering line-up coupled with village fete mentality, all in the heart of East London. Field Day will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 25th May.
Hosted by forward-thinking promoters Eat Your Own Ears, Bugged Out!, BleeD/ Lanzarote and proudly partnering with The i Paper, The Quietus, FACT Magazine, Last FM, Resident Advisor, The Line of Best Fit, Abeano, Dummy Magazine andStool Pigeon, Field Day is a festival that has become synonymous with imaginative and progressive bills hosting the likes of Franz Ferdinand, SBTRKT, Afrocubism, Grimes and Django Django last summer; 2013 is certainly shaping up to be no exception to this rule.
As with years gone by, Field Day will be providing ample entertainment for those looking for respite from the music in the Village Mentality area on The Village Green. Expect traditional side stalls inspired by country pastimes and weird and wonderful fete games, from classic tug of war, sack races and egg and spoon race to more unexpected and fantastic ones like tea bag tossing and the world famous winkle picking contest.
The excellent website Caught By The River, home to excellent writing by first class contributors on music, nature, ale and…fishing, has carved itself a unique place on the web since its beginnings in 2007 and will be hosting a fine area at Field Day 2013
