LOWLITA Records was born from the union of the set of values, connections and experiences of its creators: Gonçalo Miranda, Anna Tur and Hosse. A label with an identity and foundations based on the groove of house music and its fusion with techno and industrial forcefulness. Their first release is by Gonçalo and Anna Tur, who in recent years have reached a perfect understanding on an artistic level. An extraordinary synergy that can be perceived both in their multiple performances together as well as in joint projects and in the studio. And the proof of this is in the two original tracks that make up the EP “Caught in the Club”. The homonymous track “Caught in the Club” opens the EP, an intense track with vocals that manage to lift the listener. The rhythmic base and the bass give off bursts of energy that maintain the tension throughout its more than seven minutes. The small melodic touches of the synth bring freshness to the track that will not go unnoticed in any set.

The EP continues with a remix by Spartaque that is 100% forcefulness from the first second. There is no room for respite, the acid bassline and the inclusion of the vocals support the leitmotif of the original track. The upward drop midway through the composition really blows up the track, marking a before and after in a set. The appearance of the syncopated and epic synth is as surprising as it is unforgettable, making “Caught in the Club” an essential track, perfect for the most climactic moment of the night. And finally, the second original track closes the EP: “KAP Evening”, a track that moves in areas closer to tech house. The bass line stands out, in charge of making the dancefloor move. In some parts, the synth creates clear industrial reminiscences, closer to techno. We cant forget to mention the drop which is intense and effective, resulting in another perfect tool to move the audience in any club or festival. The artwork also deserves a special mention, as it is an original piece by LUIO ONASSIS DEL ZAU, a Portuguese graphic artist who will be in charge of all the label’s visual creativities.

Underground Mainstay Jean Pierre Launches New Vinyl Only Label, Pakate

Fletch’s Actin Up EP (ft. Remixes by Franco Cinelli & Jean Pierre) Out June 18th

Artist(s): Fletch, Jean Pierre, Franco Cinelli

Title: Actin’ Up EP

Label: Pakate

Release Date: June 18th 2021

Catalogue Number: PAKATE001

Tracklisting

A1. Fletch – Actin’ Up (Original Mix)

A2. Fletch – Want Me (Original Mix)

B1. Fletch – Actin’ Up (Franco Cinelli Remix)

B2. Fletch – Want Me (Jean Pierre Remix)

Born and bred New Yorker Jean Pierre is stepping out with his own brand new label, Pakate. The vinyl-only outlet kicks off with a fantastic first EP from FLETCH featuring remixes from Pierre himself and Franco Cinelli.

This exciting new label will be an outlet for Jean and other friends to serve up mature and minimal sounds focused around unique designs and powerful grooves. Dealing in heady underground sounds that also work on larger dance floors, the label comes after Pierre has spent 15 years entrenched in the electronic scene. This is his way to carefully curate his own music exactly how he wants to, with three releases already lined up for 2021.

The first one is from FLETCH, a red hot UK talent who has released on the likes of Kaluki and Whippin’ Records. His opening tune ‘Actin Up’ is a slick and slippery minimal groove with real depth and freaky sound designs that make it pop. ‘Want Me’ then hits harder, with loopy house drums and squelchy synths all bubbling away beneath soulful female vocal sounds and cosmic synths.

The first fine remix is from France Cinelli who takes ‘Actin Up’ super deep, with punching kicks and rolling bass that gets you in a state of hypnosis., Closing out the package is a Jean Pierre remix of ‘Want Me’ that shows off his ability to lay down stripped back but compelling house grooves with deft sound design and a freaky atmosphere.

This is a standout first EP that perfectly sets the scene for what is sure to become a vital new label from this American mainstay.

There is plenty to look forward to musically across the many stages including sure to be spectacular headline sets from game changing hip hop legends Naughty By Nature and globally renowned, chart topping dance innovators Basemement Jaxx, a dub and reggae masterclass from the influential David Rodigan, disco dazzlers from Scandi-king Todd Terje, all shades of house from Graeme Park to a live performance from K Klass as well as the usual eclectic thrills and spills from firm Moovin favs like Craig Charles , Freestylers , DMC champion  DJ Woody, The Mouse Outfit, Honeyfeet and many more covering House ,funk, afro, disco, soul, dub hip hop, brass, drum & bass and everything in between. Unum Festival, First Unrestricted Festival Happened Last Weekend in Europe

Thousand of Revellers Attend First Festival in Albania – Backed by Albanian Government

Albania’s Unum Festival took place this last week as the first unrestricted festival in Europe with no hiccups and just pure joy coming from all the clubbers. The whole festival was supported by the Albanian Government through the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Ministry of Health.
Over the whole event, close to 14,000 people turned up from all over England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and even Israel, the USA, with 3,300 people from Kosovo,2,600 from Albania and 2,050 from other Balkan places such as Montenegro, Serbia, Romania and Macedonia. The country of Albania dropped all restrictions because of the low overall contagion rate in the country, recording only two new infections on Saturday. At the event, 100% of staff – both local and overseas – were fully vaccinated. Gloves and masks where mandatory for the cleaning team and toilets and mass-access areas were disinfected regularly. As a result, so far everyone who had to do a PCR test on their way back home has tested negative.
The happy smiling faces at the event were a thing to behold – everyone in attendance was beaming from ear to ear, delighted to be hugging each other and in close, cuddly proximity to other dancers. After such a long time away from the communal experience that is a dance music festival, many people were literally hopping with joy as things got underway. People climbed on each others shoulders, high-fived and made new friendships quickly and freely right from the first beat.
Says the Director of UNUM Festival, Kushtrim Sahiti, “In the wake of one of the worse years for the music industry, UNUM Festival came as ship of hope in the sea of don’t and do’s for Festivals and events of this size. It was a huge success and we’re exhausted but glad that we managed to give music back to the people. And even better, it sure was hella good music!”
After debuting in 2019 and missing 2020, Unum finally got to build on its impressive early momentum with heady techno sounds, a gorgeous setting on the Albanian Riviera and a crowd so up for it they’d have dance for a week let alone a weekend. After some warm up sets for those who arrived on the Thursday, Friday really finds the festival hit its stride. There are three stages in all with music on the Main Stage, the Pine Stage and on the Beach Stage all playing late into the night. Each one is a mass of writing bodies, dancing energetically from the first to the last beat.

The beautiful Pine Stage, set amongst the tall, sweet smelling trees was a real standout and is fast becoming one of the most iconic in the European scene. The music runs on for 24 hours straight with standout performances from Frenchman Dyed Soundorom who played a deep, groovy set of house music that was as warm and balmy as the sun kissed day time had been. Raresh also lit up the place with a solo set before he went back to back with Praslea as Pralesh which was one of the festival highlights for five hot and unforgettable hours later on the Sunday morning. It is fitting that such a special stage was brought to a close by a suitably special DJ with the one and only Ricardo Villalobos closing it down with a left of centre masterclass on Monday morning. The world class underground sounds were in fine flow for the whole weekend, with master minimalists Cap, John Dimas, Digby and Cesare Merveille all getting particularly good crowd reactions as they waved their way through slick, stripped back sounds, the odd playful party classic and plenty of deeply dug out delights.
The crowd is made up of eager locals and few people from various spots around Europe who had navigate restrictions to make their way here. They were in loud voice on the Main Stage when techno titan and Cocoon chief Sven Vath drew the biggest crowd and really served up a huge set on Friday and Saturday. Berghain’s Ben Klock also brought his heavyweight techno sounds on Friday and Saturday next to party-ready cuts from Leon. The Beach Stage was a great place to hang during the day. The views out to sea are epic, the open beaches inviting and the soundtrack first class from the likes of Jamie Roy and Traumer who really found a perfect musical sweet spot to match the atmospheric vibe.
All in all this was a fantastic first dance back for many people after so long away.

Sonus Festival announces 2022 dates

https://www.sonus-festival.com/

Because of the global ongoing uncertainty around the Coronavirus pandemic, it is with a heavy heart that we cancel Sonus Festival 2021. Given all the limitations and restrictions we expected to encounter, we do not believe that we could have presented an experience worthy of what Sonus stands for. Safety comes first and so we have made the tough decision to postpone to the week from August 21st – August 25th 2022

When the time finally comes, you can expect a typically world-class Sonus line-up – a high calibre selection of the house and techno talents who have helped make Sonus one of Europe’s most essential summer festivals.

Says Sonus’s Robin Ebinger, “This is a hugely difficult decision but it is in everyone’s best interests and we are optimistic that soon we will all have the Pag Island sand between our toes again. To all 2020 ticket holders: please check your inbox for more details regarding a refund or the ticket transfer process.”

Because a lot of fans have kept hold of their 2020 tickets, and with high demand expected for the 2022 ticket sale, make sure to sign up for the limited Early Bird Private Pre-Sale starting on 18th of June to secure your chance to dance next year!

Mikey Lion Releases Debut Studio Album, For The Love

Featuring collaborations with Justin Martin, Sacha Robotti, Lubelski & more

LISTEN HERE

Love—it’s one of the strongest and most universal connectors in our world. It’s also the driving force behind everything Mikey Lion does, from the music he crafts to the events he runs as the leader of Desert Hearts, to the circles he keeps. To honor this all-encompassing force, the artist today releases the full rendition of For The Love, his debut studio album, and the 100th release on Desert Hearts Records. A patchwork of nine tracks depicts Lion’s saga spanning from the day he discovered his true purpose, to the highs and lows of realizing it, and up to the present where he ponders on reaching the next chapter for himself and his community.

Before nurturing his brand and record label into the behemoth that it is today, a young Mikey Lion had been living with his parents and questioning the direction to take his life. Mesmeric album closer “Talking To The Trees” with its lush synth layers and gossamer vocals, sketches out how his path was revealed to him. During a fateful psychedelic trip, he was guided to spread love and community under the banner of House, Techno, and Love that fans know today. Desert Hearts was officially launched in 2012, and the rest is history.

Elsewhere in For The Love, Lion reminisces on the moments and feelings that reaffirmed his direction. “When I’m With You,” a breezy vocal jam crafted alongside Lubelski and Jackson Englund, pays homage to blissful times spent with loved ones in and out of the rave. The peak time ready “Spot Freak” represents cheeky dancefloor moments with the crew via off-kilter synth effects, licks of acid, and hard-hitting percussion. “Above The Clouds,” which leads For The Love with dulcet melodies, is Lion’s interpretation of house music heaven—a feeling he seeks to emulate at each Desert Hearts event.

Trial arrived in Mikey’s journey in 2020, when the pandemic brought his and Desert Hearts’ momentum to a screeching halt. Written in minor key with tense buildups and heavy synthwork, “For The Love Of What” is the label head’s expression of this doubtful time, where existential crisis set in and he was left questioning what the point of it all was, and how the mission of spreading love would continue in the absence of shows.

Luckily, reprise was found within the dedicated community he built over the years. As Mikey led Desert Hearts into the virtual world, launching a TV station on Twitch, followers swiftly hopped on for the ride. He found himself reaching even more people across the globe with DH’s message of House Techno Love, receiving donations and pledges of support from across the globe, and interacting with the DH community on a virtual dancefloor. It was an affirmation of a different sort, but no less powerful, convincing him again that love and music would sustain him, regardless if the dancefloor was digital.

For The Love is ultimately a culmination of the triumphs and tribulations Mikey Lion has faced through the years since he first set out to bring the mantra of House, Techno, Love to a global scale—and is also a marker of an artist just beginning to step into his own sonically. Its timeless influences and multifaceted, yet polished sound design point to an artist who’s put in the work to master his craft. Through painstaking detail, instrumentation, and arrangement, Mikey manages to tell years worth of stories in just nine compositions.

At the end of the day, the lesson remains: community comes first always, and the decisions we make should be guided by, if not entirely, For The Love
