US Rap phenomenon J Cole will make a welcome return to Barclaycard Wireless Festival. The first ever artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, J. Cole made a name for himself with mixtape ‘The Warm Up’, he also guested on ‘A Star Is Born’ on Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3. His debut album ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ went straight in at number one on the US Billboard Top 200 chart last year whilst his November UK tour was a total sell out.
Brighton duo Rizzle Kicks have had an incredible six months. Their debut album “Stereo Typical” was released late last year and went straight into the top ten whilst singles ‘Down With The Trumpets’ and ‘When I Was A Youngster’ were instant chart smashes, they also scored a number one single featuring on the Olly Murs hit ‘Heart Skips A Beat’. Their latest single, ‘Mama Do The Hump’, is currently at two on the UK Top 40 and A-listed at Radio One.
Voted “America’s Best DJ” by DJ Times late last year Kaskade is a welcome addition to Sunday’s line-up, Barclaycard Wireless Festival will be his only UK festival performance of 2012. With a string of hit singles to his name including ‘I Remember’, his collaboration with Deadmau5, Kaskade will bring his uplifting sounds to the Hyde Park stage. Flux Pavilion (aka Joshua Steele) has been a dubstep pioneer in the UK since early 2009. His undeniable musicality and gift for production was recently verified en masse when his single ‘I Can’t Stop’ was sampled for the standout track ‘Who Gonna Stop Me’ on Kanye West and Jay-Z’s epic ‘Watch the Throne album’. His recent collaboration with Doctor P ‘Superbad’ was R1 Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record in the World Right Now’ whilst R1 Fearne Cotton made it her ‘Record of the Week’. Taking a place on the prestigious Sound of 2012 BBC poll in January Flux Pavilion is certain to have an epic year.

With her outrageous flair and undeniable coolness, Jessie will no doubt put on an explosive set.

Pumped up with high-octane punk energy Ke$ha is a hot addition to Saturday 2 July’s line-up which is headlined by dance pioneers The Chemical Brothers. Signed when she was just 18 her breakthrough came in early 2009 after featuring on Flo Rida’s number one track ‘Right Round’. Her debut single ‘Tik Tok’ reached number one in 11 countries and by September 2010 the feisty popstar had sold two million albums worldwide. California Electro rap duo LMFAO are one of this year’s biggest pop success stories. Their massive hit ‘Party Rock Anthem’ held the number one spot on the Official UK Singles chart for four weeks. It’s still in the top five and continues to dominate airwaves across the country. The band made their major-label debut in 2008 with the release of single ‘I’m In Miami Bitch’, they also featured on David Guetta’s song ‘Gettin’ Over You’ which hit number one in the UK last year. The duo are set to release their second album, ‘Sorry For Party Rocking’ in June.
Mike Posner, Natalia Kills and StooShe join the sensational line-up on Friday 1 July, headlined by global superstars The Black Eyed Peas (this will be their only UK festival performance), with other acts including Plan B, Tinie Tempah, David Guetta and Bruno Mars.
Alex Metric, Alpines and Luke Bingham will join dance pioneers The Chemical Brothers on Saturday 2 July, a day which also boasts Chase & Status, Aphex Twin, The Streets and Janelle Monáe.
The Hives, Yuck and Vintage Trouble will join headliners Pulp along with the likes of Grace Jones, TV On The Radio and Foals on Sunday 3 July. Swedish garage rock group The Hives first garnered attention in the early 2000’s as leaders of the garage rock revival. With hits including the infectious ‘Hate to Say I Told You So’ and ‘Main Offender’ they’re guaranteed to give a must-see performance.
Chipmunk, Alexis Jordan, Jodie Connor and Dot Rotten join an already sensational line up on Friday 1 July, with Black Eyed Peas headlining and other acts so far confirmed including Plan B, Tine Tempah and David Guetta. Widely considered as one of the best UK grime acts around Chipmunk burst onto the scene in 2009 with his platinum selling debut album ‘I Am Chipmunk…’. He has amassed five top-ten hits on the UK Singles Chart, including the chart topping ‘Oopsy Daisy’, and his highly anticipated second album ‘Transition’ is out soon. One of 2011’s explosive new arrivals, Alexis Jordan, is an 18-year-old pop powerhouse currently tearing up the club & airplay charts in the UK. The former America’s Got Talent finalist, who has the backing of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, has already scored two top ten UK singles with her insanely catchy pop hits ‘Happiness’ and ‘Good Girl’. Mancunian singer songwriter Jodie Connor and hotly tipped South London MC Dot Rotten are also set to join Friday’s fantastic line-up.
J.Cole is now confirmed to join headliners The Chemical Brothers on Saturday 2 July, a day which already boasts Chase & Status, Aphex Twin and Janelle Monae amongst others. New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica will also hit the stage, a fellow Roc Nation recruit, he has gained widespread critical praise for his lyrically dense performances and soulful tunes. Michael Franti and Spearhead also join the bill, well known for their moving politically charged tunes, they were at the forefront of hip-hop’s renaissance, mixing hip-hop with a unique blend of funk, reggae, jazz, and rock. Also added to Saturday’s enviable line-up is North London’s Modestep, electronic dance act Her Majesty and the Wolves featuring former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, Maverick Sabre, who appeared on Professor Green’s latest single, and acclaimed DJ James Holroyd.
Having recently announced Grace Jones as support for Pulp on 3 July, Wireless with Barclaycard have announced a string of new acts bursting with talent to join the Sunday line up. The Pretty Reckless have already netted a top ten album here in the UK (for 2010’s Light Me Up), featuring Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen they are set to give an amazing performance. Utah rockers Neon Trees will blast out their hard-hitting anthems of adolescent angst with heart-on-the-sleeve passion. Hotly-tipped Nottingham singer songwriter Liam Bailey, who recently hooked up with fellow Wireless with Barclaycard performers Chase & Status on their hit single Blind Faith also joins the bill, along with Californian trio Funeral Party who will deliver their dance inducing spirit. Irish synth-pop rockers Fight Like Apes, London’s electro-pop maestros Clock Opera and Belfast based Cashier No.9 also join Sunday’s storming line-up.
Joining Pulp and Grace Jones along with the already announced TV On The Radio, Foals, The Horrors and Metronomy Kiwi quintet The Naked and Famousare winning serious praise. One of the most exciting, vibrant and interesting Antipodean acts to the hit the UK scene this past year their debut single ‘Young Blood’ became the first debut single by a Kiwi band to reach number one in their home country for 16 years. In the UK they were recently awarded a highly coveted place in the BBC’s Sound of 2011. Denver based group DeVotchKa also join Sunday’s line-up. Having developed a powerful distinctive sound, blending a variety of eastern European, Latin and US Southwestern music, with more mainstream rock and punk sounds. Their swelling powerful and reflective ballads, married with the tender crooning of Grammy-nominated front man Nick Urata, has seen the band create the evocative soundscapes for a growing list of films including four-time Academy Award nominated film Little Miss Sunshine, I Love You Phillip Morris and The Joneses. DeVotchKa’s latest studio album, 100 Lovers was released this month.
