Sunrise Festival returns for 2013!

Sunrise has always been about celebration – celebrating life and the gift that it is. We are planning to keep everything that you loved best about Sunrise – its vibe, its ethos, its principles, the boundless creativity, the inspiration & innovation – but create a new vessel for it to flourish within.

Sunrise: Another World will take place on a beautiful new site, replete with forest and features, close to the border of Somerset and Wiltshire. The festival will happen on the traditional Sunrise dates of May 30th – June 2nd 2013, the last weekend of the half-term holidays (for those with kids). Any tickets bought already are of course valid for this evolved offering!

Founding of the Micronation

In the free and independent spirit of Sunrise, we're proud to announce that we are to become thefirst ever festival Micronation! A Micronation – or model country – is an independent state that is not yet recognised by world governments or major international organizations. Like all nations, the new Sunrise Micronation has the right to issue passports, currency, honors and operate an embassy. Like other nations, we can and will produce our own bill of rights, the guiding principles of our free state. Currently titled 'Another World', the Sunrise Free Nation will honor the ethos and principles of the festival, being committed to best environmental practice, to the free expression of creativity, to honoring our interdependence with each other and with all of life, to self-responsibility and non-violent communication.

More info on our new micronation as well as how to get involved will be available soon atwww.sunrisefestivals.co.uk

Whats Going On?

We're really excited to be launching Sunrise again in its new location, a gorgeous green site spilling over with natural magic. Its the ideal home for Another World and one which we hope to be on for years to come.

In honor of our rebirth, we're in the process of pulling together lots of new and exciting content – including new venues, bigger and better line-up and lots more that we hope will get your Sunrise cravings going once more, and help those winter months pass just a little faster.

First up, we're very excited to announce the format of our new main stage. This undercover 1500 capacity venue will be hosted each night by different bands, who will bring together their own music alongside those of others in their musical family, as well as upcoming, underground artists that they wish to bring exposure to. Confirmed first for this are the brilliant Dub Pistols who will be curating Saturday Night's monster mash-up with their special guests. Expect hip hop, dub, techno, ska & punk, all spat out in a renegade futuristic skank. Phew!

The ever-sunny Sunrise sunday will be overseen by firm favourites The Beat who will be hosting Rankin' Roger's Dub Reggae Party with a range of specially selected reggae, dub and ska acts chosen by Roger himself. Each night you can expect amazing collaborations, unique acts and the best in underground sounds.

Friday Night has an as-yet mystery curator! We're very excited about this but can't let you know who it is quite yet….

Second up is the launch of the new Sunrise Pub, an 800 capacity venue featuring the best in underground live-acts from the sub-cultural music scene. Headlining this venue is the outstanding Krafty Kuts, the award winning electronic music producer. As well as the all important music and the finest local and organic alcohol, the Sunrise Pub will host a sumptuous themed banquet on Saturday Night in its intimate back room, featuring exclusive entertainment for those eating. Sunday will also see that firm pub favourite, a Sunday Roast to sit down to and enjoy over sweet sunday afternoon sounds.

Moving on, we welcome back the brilliant Beyond the Stars/Ghettofunk Nightclub in a new larger venue, with underground DJs and Live Acts from Ghettofunk Records and affiliated organisations. Joining the late night action will be the new Sunrise Sounds Nightclub and Secret Cinema featuring comedy, performance and a diverse range of sounds to groove through the night to.  Confirmed for this venue is Andy Smith (Portishead) with a special themed-vintage night 'Jam Up Twist'. Finally, we're excited to announce a much revamped, fully psychedelic Dance Temple springing to life with classic and emerging acts from the worlds of psy-trance, electronica and chill.

As well as all the above, you can expect the return of the foot-stompingly folksy, rabidly rootsySpit n Sawdust Stage and Saloon Bar in the ever delightful Village Green area. New to Sunrise is the Forest of Story, a magical environment taking full advantage of nature's bounty with high-flying performance, storytelling, fire, kids activities, art trails and much much more. You can also expect back our fabulous Kids Area as well as the Serenity Field with the ever-popular Pacha Mamas.

Sunrise will be more inspirational, more innovative, more family-friendly and funky than ever before. We just know you're going to like it!
