Coldplay, Foo Fighers, Arctic Monkeys for T in the Park 2011

The lineup for T in the Park 2011 was scheduled to be announced today at 11am, however possibly due to high traffic on the T in the Park website, nothing was revealed, however the lineup started showing up via Twitter.

We can let you know that Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters will be headlining.

arctic monkeys t in the park 2011Arctic Monkeys released their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ in 2006.  That same year, the phenomenal four-piece made another stunning debut on the Main Stage at TITP (T in the Park).  They followed this with a headline slot in 2007 and released their 2nd LP ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’.  In 2009 they released ‘Humbug’ their 3rd consecutive Number 1 LP.    Arctic Monkeys are a band of the people, totally in tune with a new generation of live music lovers and top of festival fans’ wish lists for favourite festival headliners.

Coldplay made their TITP debut in the King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent in 2000 and returned to headline in 2003 when Chris Martin changed the lyrics of ‘God Put a Smile upon Your Face’ to “God gave you light and gave you dark, God gave you tickets for T in the Park”.  8 years later they are back as one of the biggest bands in the world. Having sold over 50 million records worldwide, Coldplay have been packing stadiums the world over, treating their army of fans to powerful performances and there’s another spine-tingling set instore when they take centre stage in Scotland.

foo fighters t in the parkFoo Fighters are set to release their highly anticipated seventh studio album and frontman Dave Grohl (NME Godlike Genius 2010) recently revealed he wants to play it live at night in front of tens of thousands of people – “It’s a festival album because it f**king rocks!.” Grohl will do exactly that as the Foo Fighters put in yet another stadium calibre performance at this year’s T in the Park, debuting new material from their forthcoming album alongside anthems from their multi-platinum, multiple Grammy-winning catalogue. The TITP crowd is sure to go home satisfied and exhausted, and nursing throats sore from singing along with the likes of The Pretender, Best of You, All My Life, Learn To Fly, Everlong and more.

blink 182 t in the park 2011Hailing from Southern California, pop punk trio blink-182 have notched up over 25 million worldwide album sales since forming in 1992.  They released five studio albums including multi-platinum selling breakthrough album ‘Enema of the State (1999) between 1994 and 2005, before breaking away from the music scene.  The 51st Grammy Awards in 2009 brought the band back together and with a new album planned for release in 2011, blink-182 will be at Balado for an unforgettable T in the Park 2011.
Pulp make a return to this year’s TITP for what is sure to be one of the musical events of the summer. The show will involve all the original members of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber) and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career. They previously headlined TITP’s Main Stage in both 1996 and 1998 and played King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent at the inaugural TITP in 1994.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for The Script, whose new No.1 album ‘Science & Faith’ and top five single ‘For The First Time’ has led to the announcement of a massive UK arena tour for 2011 and a highly anticipated set at TITP.  The Script’s new album is the follow up to 2008’s 1.8 million selling self-titled, No.1, global smash of a debut. In their own words, “First and foremost we are a live band. We’re gonna give it everything, we just can’t wait!!”

BRIT award winner for British Solo Male Plan B and winner of British Single and British Breakthrough Artist Tinie Tempah are two of the UK’s biggest success stories and their respective performances at TITP are sure to show why. With the release of his multi-platinum selling second album ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’, dapper lyrical genius Plan B proved he is the ultimate package and one of the most talented and versatile artists in UK music.

Tinie Tempah is breaking records and boundaries in British music and hit single ‘Pass Out’ was the smash hit of 2010, recently resulting in the BRIT award for British Single. He has also worked with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Ellie Goulding and Kelly Rowland and will undoubtedly be one of the biggest hits at T in the Park 2011.

It’s raw rock’n’roll one minute, and classic pop the next from Beady Eye, as they confirm their appearance at this year’s T in the Park Festival. Beady Eye will be performing songs from their debut album, released next week entitled “Different Gear, Still Speeding”. Beady Eye is the band formed by ex Oasis members Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

The legend that is Tom Jones will also grace the green, green grass of Balado. During his 40 year career, Jones has sold in excess of 100 million records worldwide and collaborated with the likes of Chicane, Wyclef Jean, Stereophonics and Robbie Williams as well as unreleased material with Elvis Presley.  His powerful voice and smooth moves are sure to deliver a performance that will go down in T in the Park history.

Fans can expect more T in the Park 2011 highlights from an array of festival favourites including My Chemical Romance, Deadmau5, Pendulum, Brandon Flowers, Weezer, Manic Street Preachers, Jimmy Eat World, Chase and Status, All Time Low, White Lies, The View, Jessie J, KT Tunstall, Blondie, Ke$ha, Cast, You Me At Six, Crystal Castles, Ocean Colour Scene, The Saturdays, Eels, Hurts, Bright Eyes, The Streets, The Vaccines, Noah and the Whale, House of Pain, Slam, Imelda May, Josh Wink, Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Miles Kane, Vitalic, Eliza Doolittle, Diplo and Stornoway The Slam Tent is also back to celebrate 15 successful years at TITP.

And boy do we have a breath-taking feast of treats lined up for your delectation. Spread across theCastle Field, Kids Garden, Big Top, Bollywood, Black Dahlia, East Lulworth Literary Institute, Freestyle Sports Park and more, this year will be even more jam-packed with entertainment, from stellar musical morsels and cultural delights to mind-melting sideshow attractions and lashings of family fun, including over 100 Free Things For Kids To Do. Camp Bestival Curator Rob da Bank Says:  ‘This year’s Camp Bestival is going to be the best ever – we’ve geared up Lulworth Castle to be a total festi-holiday experience, bringing back the spirit of the Great British Camping holiday with bells on. All this plus headline performances from Blondie and Mark Ronson, the return of the legend that is Mr Tumble – and even Sooty, Sweep and Soo are back to bring a bit of nostalgia to the weekend. We can’t wait here at Camp Besti HQ, so get your medieval costume in the bag and we’ll see you at the end of July to kick of the school summer holidays in style! Hi De Hi.’

Fronted by one of the world’s most iconic pop stars, Blondie are the first headliners out of the bag for Camp Bestival 2011 topping the bill on Friday night. With an almost endless canon of chart storming hits including ‘Rapture’, ‘Hanging on the Telephone’, ‘Heart of Glass’ and ‘Maria’spanning their 30 year career, Blondie will, without doubt, be the sing-a-long highlight of the weekend.  Mark Ronson and The Business Intl, who are currently riding a wave of love for the acclaimed ‘Record Collection’ album, which spawned the singles ‘Bang Bang Bang’, ‘The Bike Song’ and the sublime ‘Somebody To Love Me’, will be headlining the Saturday night at our Dorset jamboree. So, expect a cavalcade of top-drawer turns as the master himself performs his genre-defying alchemy. And we’ve still got one more headliner to announce which we’re really excited about, keep checking www.campbestival.net for more info.

A crowd-rocker par excellence, slapstick superstar Mr Tumble will be returning to his favourite festival for the third year running! One of the indisputable highlights of Camp Bestivals-past, Mr Tumble has caused paroxysms of pleasure every time he’s set foot on Camp Bestival’s main stage, entertaining one and all in his joyously inimitable style.
Mr Tumble said: ‘I am really excited about returning to Camp Bestival 2011! This will be my third year and I just love it! The whole event is fantastic and I can’t wait to meet everyone again.  Roll on July!!’

The first wave of live acts joining our two announced headliners will include the recently reformed House of Pain who are sure to make you jump around, Sheffield funksters ABC, the hotly tipped Claire Maguire, dubstep’s first lady Katy B, the irresistibly hooky Eliza Doolittle, the one and only Cuban Brothers whose side-splitting soul and cheeky repartee are not to be missed, plus there’ll be beatbox genius and all-round top bloke Beardyman and swing hip-hoppers The Correspondents . There will also be performances from the eight legged groove machine that is The Wonder Stuff, Ms Dynamite, Wretch 32, Ed Sheeran, Breakage feat. Jess Mills, The Selecter,  Fenech-Soler, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Brandt Brauer Frick, Lau, Lucky Elephant, The Crayonettes, Smerins Anti-Social Club, Two Wounded Birds, Caitlin Rose, Jaipur Brass Band, Kawa Circus, Bajah & the Dry Eye Crew, The Bad Shepherds, Marcus Foster, The Emerald Guard, Jellicle Cats The Widow Makerand Kathryn Williams.
Crazy club vibes will come courtesy of the man like Rob da Bank with his famed beyond eclectic fare, plus the mighty Groove Armada will present RedlightNorman Jay will to deliver the good times, arch scratch master DJ Yoda is sure to get the show jumping and the venerableDavid Rodigan will demonstrate just why he’s one of the most respected selectors on the planet. And there’ll be more booty shaking, speaker shredding action from the likes of London Elektricity, The Nextmen, Dub Pistols Soundsystem, Channel One Soundsystem, Krafty Kuts, A.Skillz, DJ Derek and Reggae Roast. There will also be three appearances from theSunday Best Forum Allstars a very special DJ collective formed from our very own Camp Bestival Forum (and if festival-goers fancy having a crack at playing for the Allstars, they can head over to the Camp Bestival Forum and look out for rseamer’s thread with details of how to get involved).

Another Camp Bestival favourite making an exclusive and very welcome return is The Gruffalo. After becoming one of the hits of last year’s show, we couldn’t resist getting the clever mouse, the fox, owl and snake and The Gruffalo himself back to Lulworth Castle to entertain the Camp Bestival kids of all ages with their amazing live show.   Even more kiddy fun will come from theSooty Show in a UK Festival exclusive.  A children’s classic and the star of the longest running children’s TV show in the UK, Sooty along with Soo & Sweep will be on hand with his wand invoking it’s powers with the magic catchphrase ‘izzy wizzy, let’s get busy’. Also joining the throng will be Panzee, Tang, Zak and Drum AKA the ZingZillas. The band will be monkeying around mixing up rock and soul, jazz and samba and could even drop in some big band sounds!

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Café will be returning to Lulworth Castle for a Camp Bestival exclusive! The River Cottage Team are very excited to be working with Camp Bestival once again, they’ll have several of the River Cottage experts joining them to run workshops for kids and adults, plus they’ll be cooking up some fantastic River Cottage grub from their Canteen, with their famous spicy mutton burgers served from the barbeque as well as some fresh fish cooked in the wood-fired oven!
Rock ‘n’ roll chef, Gizzi Erskine, will also be joining Camp Bestival this year to help feed the thousands with some of her delicious recipes. The star of C4’s Cook Yourself Thin and Cookery School, who is a big  fan of Rockabilly and 60’s Garage, is excited to be setting up camp  this year and says:- ‘How cool that there is a festival the whole family can enjoy! I’ll be putting my stamp on this year’s Camp Bestival by bringing my 50’s and 60’s vibe to Dorset. Good food and good music is what I’m all about.’

After last year’s amazing spectacle, we’re over the moon that Gavin Turk’s House of FairyTales will be making an exclusive appearance at this year’s Camp Bestival. A treasure trove of creative play and enchantment, providing imaginative spaces for children to learn and play, the House of Fairy Tales will allow your little ones to explore the complex minefield of their hopes, dreams and fears on a self-lead journey.
We’re also thrilled that English National Ballet, one of the world’s leading ballet companies, is coming back to Camp Bestival for a third year with a host of expert ballet workshops in the ballet tent. There will be something for children of all ages; family sessions for tots, introductions for complete beginners and workshops for improvers! There will also be some other treats in store in this tent over the weekend, including ballet Pilates to de-stress and revive your weary festival bones and creative workshops so that you too can look like a proper ballerina. In between the workshops, you will have the chance to sit back and relax and watch screenings of English National Ballet’s very best shows or try on ballet costumes in dressing-up corner. Make sure you pop in and enjoy a taste of the magical world of ballet!

This year the fancy dress theme is all things Medieval, which means we should have an army of brave knights to save the myriad beautiful princesses that are sure to be at Lulworth Castle. There’ll be the traditional Fancy Dress Parade for everybody on Saturday in the Kids Garden, the Camp Bestival resident dressing up box will be stacked full of vintage princess dresses, hand-made costumes for all sizes, and next to the dressing up tent is the Camp Bestival catwalk where the little ones can parade and dance up and down to music all day – some have to be bribed to leave! Also in the Kids Garden you will find our huge face painting tent with a team of professional face painters to add the final touches to your costume or to transform you into the creature of your dreams!

There will be a variety of erudite pleasures on offer all weekend including the Satin Lizard Lounge Spoken Word line up curated by Scroobius Pip and hosted by absurdly talentedSound of Rum front-woman Kate Tempest.  There will also be guaranteed hilarity from a cavalcade of comics including Milton Jones, Andrew Maxwell, Marcus Brigstoke, Barry Castagnola and Craig Campbell.  Plus there’ll be Opera Up Close, Gideon Reeling Theatre, Heritage Arts Company and lots and lots more effortlessly enjoyable diversions to while away your fest-holiday.

As ever, we have some amazing premium camping space for you and yours to spend the weekend with top-notch facilities but for those looking for the peace of mind in knowing their spot is reserved Camping Plus will also be available once again following its huge success last year.  Designed with the larger families with enormo-tents in mind, Camping Plus gets you a reserved 70 square metre plot less than 200 metres from the Car Park entrance. All the plots can be individually booked so you can guarantee your whole party get to camp near each other, plus you’ll have quick and easy access to exclusive showers, flushing loos and a top notch café, so breakfast will only be a few brisk strides from your tent door all for £120.00 per plot. Camping Plus goes on sale from 10am Monday 21st February so be quick to ensure your space!

And helping you again this year is Mr Trolley - a trolley hire service to help you carry all your kit from your car to your camping spot and back. Located in the car parks will be trolley-hire points, this is where you can hire a trolley, load up and ease into the festival.

With all the best music, arts, entertainment and everything in between Camp Bestival 2011 is set to be a corker!

White Lies and Digitalism join Melt! Festival lineup

M!Eco
Once again, the environment will be one of our most important headliners this year. In 2010, we already started our environmental endeavours with M!Eco. Together with the Green Music Initiative, we devoloped various projects to reduce CO2 emissions. Several bus and train offers as well as our hotel train, which rode to Ferropolis for the first time in 2010, made it possible that many festivalgoers decided to leave their cars at home. In 2011, we want to continue our projects. This year, energy-saving measures will be on our agenda as well! Further info will be available soon.
To keep you posted on our newest projects and further developments, we launched our M!Eco website today. On our site, you are not only able to read about our plans and project partners. You are also able to find out what each festivalgoer can do to reduce CO2 emissions and make the festival more ecofriendly, so we can say: we are one step closer to our green goal.

White Lies
Post-punk meets dark wave with legitimate ambitions for stadium rock. With their latest single “Bigger Than Us”, the London-based White Lies presented us with a smashing anthem at the beginning of 2011 already. The band made quite an effort to up the ante production-wise in order to set the tone for the enthusiastic to melancholic lyrics. By releasing Rituals, the band around singer Harry McVeigh brought us the follow-up to their debut, which definitely keeps its promise.

digitalism melt festival 2011Digitalism (live)
No doubt, Digitalism is about to become a Melt! resident. Even before the actual festival the Hamburg duo Jens “Jence” Moelle and Ismail “Isi” Tüfekci join the Berlin-based Melt! Klub Weekender with squealing synth sounds, brute breaks, and belling bass lines. In Ferropolis, Digitalism has been part of Melt! Festival’s line-up three time. Thanks to brand-new material, the 2010 single “Blitz” as well as the uberhit “Zdarlight”, Digitalism will certainly fuel Melt! madness for the fourth time.

More Acts and News
With The Naked And Famous, we may have hit the spot. It doesn’t happen too often that a band is highly praised even before it releases its debut. We are very much excited about the New Zealanders’ live performance on their stopover in Saxony-Anhalt.

Not least since their celebrated Melt! premiere, the follow-up shows – supporting Broken Bells and Kele for instance – and their appearance at Dockville, Sizarr are officially Melt! Festival’s new favourite. Therefore, we’re about to present all the factes of the band, namely playing live on Gemini Stage and DJing on Melt! Selektor Stage as Sizarr Soundsystem.

We see acts like Katy B, Crystal Fighters, Clock Opera, Totally Enourmous Extinct Dinosaurs and SBTRKT progressing on an international level, which is why we want to prominently present them at Melt! 2011. More promising newcomers will join them soon.
Of course, Melt! 2011 would only be half as good without the lovely indie boys and girls. After all these years, the indie legends of Les Savy Fav are finally joining our line-up. Also adding to our bill: Junip, Bodi Bill, Console, Metronomy, Calvin Harris, Everything Everything, Little Dragon. This just in: with our second announcement, we only made it half-way through our programme. By the time, we’re done with announcing acts, Melt! will have six stages with over 120 artists performing in July.

Melt! Festival’s also known for its many co-operations with other artists. We’re not only looking forward to Modeselektor curating Melt! Selektor Stage for two days in a row and the labels Live At Robert Johnson as well as Bpitch Control taking over Sleepless Floor. We also have the Total Confusion party at Big Wheel up our sleeves and an additional special celebrating the legendary Detroit techno label Planet E with label boss Carl Craig DJing back to back with Radio Slave – joined by label mate Loco Dice who we announced last time.

Many festivalgoers will be pleased to hear about our continuing co-operation with Ostgut Ton, the label which is connected to Berlin’s Berghain like no other. The label’s about to take over Big Wheel Stage for four hours on Sunday – yes, there’s a Sunday at Big Wheel, folks. We will soon announce the Ostgut line-up, no worries. Big Wheel Sunday will also see Guy Gerber, who decided to work with P.Diddy on his new album, conquering the stage.

Last but not least, we planned a small but nice Dial Records homage at Big Wheel on Saturday. The full line-up reads as follows: Lawrence, John Roberts, Pawel & RNDM and Redshape presents Palisade (live).

All newly confirmed acts
Bodi Bill | Brandt Brauer Frick | Carte Blanche | Clock Opera | Console | Carl Craig & Radio Slave B2B | Crystal Fighters | Dial Records pres. Lawrence, John Roberts, Pawel & RNDM, Redshape pres. Brooklyn-based boys TV On The Radio make a long awaited return after a year hiatus. Defined by their mix of post-punk and electronic melody they shot to fame with the self-release of their debut album ‘OK Calculator’.  The band are one of the most innovative bands of the 2000s and have won critical praise across the board, in 2004 they were awarded the prestigious Shortlist Music Prize in the US.  They are currently putting the finishing touches to their sixth studio album, ‘Nine Types of Light’, which is set for release later this year.  Their evocative epic stage show is set to entrance when they hit Wireless with Barclaycard this summer.

Oxford quintet Foals arrived in 2008 with the release of their debut album, ‘Antidotes’, which crashed straight into the top ten at number three.  Second album, ‘Total Life Forever’, was released in the UK last year and also debuted in the top ten, it was nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Music Award and recognised as one of the Top Ten albums of 2010. With their hauntingly gritty tunes and energetic stage presence, Foals are set to put on an unforgettable show.  Hailed as the best band in the country when they exploded onto the UK scene, The Horrors, led by the enigmatic Faris Badwan are sure to perform a show stopping set. Their third album, the follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘Primary Colours’, will be out this year.   The electro-pop charms of Metronomy are certain to get the masses dancing, proving it’s possible for electronic bands to put on shows as mindblowing as any rock band in the process.  The band’s highly anticipated third album, ‘The English Riviera’, is coming soon.

With an already enviable array of talent confirmed and many more acts to be announced in the coming weeks Wireless with Barclaycard is set to be jam-packed with the biggest sounds of the summer.

Honeyfest rescheduled for Spring

Also playing the Honeyfest 2011 will be hotly-tipped Dry The River, and Gabby Young & Other Animals. Local acts Matthew Kilford and Slaggerij will also be performing.

Honeyfest is part of the Barge Inn Community Project, which is funded through Village SOS; a joint venture between BBC1 and the Big Lottery Fund which is supporting villages across the UK to start up new business ventures that rejuvenate rural and village life.

Villagers from around the Vale of Pewsey, in Wiltshire, have been awarded a £433k grant through Village SOS to take over their local pub, the Barge Inn. To launch their project with maximum impact they will be staging a mini-festival, Honeyfest, at the pub now rescheduled for on the 16th April. This unique all-dayer is the first of its kind for the area and will help the villagers in their mission to rejuvenate the social hub of the village. As countless rural UK pubs close each year; never has the need for such events in rural areas been more pressing.

The top class, international line up includes the stunning vocals of BRIT winner Laura Marling, happy harmonies of The Magic Numbers, the haunting melodies of Dry the River and eccentric wild cabaret from Gabby Young & Other Animals. This is not your ordinary pub gathering or spring fete!
Sandra Bhatia, Project Co-ordinator said: “We were so disappointed when the snow scuppered our earlier attempt to host Honeyfest in December 2010 to mark the 200th anniversary of the Barge Inn. The new event on 16 April promises to be very special indeed – we’ve still got these amazing acts lined up to play, but now because we’re holding it during springtime, we can also put on some other communities activities, so it will have something for everyone.”
“The proceeds from the event will go towards helping the community to run the pub and make it a real asset the locals and visitors to the area will want to keep returning to.”

This event is open to all, so people not from the local community can get their tickets for the bargain price of £35 from Ticketweb. http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_south&query=detail&event=419031

Field Day – first acts announced

With Wild Beasts confirmed, steely art-funk is the order of the day, enthralling festival goers with their erotic, suggestive and abstract music and sense of theatre. Front man Haydon Thorpe’s performances are pure liquid energy and the band will be performing tracks from their mercury nominated album ‘Two Dancers’ as well as premiering tracks from an eagerly anticipated new record.

Reverence is guaranteed for iconic statesman John Cale, founder of the Velvet Underground and all round music trailblazer combing rock, classical and drone in various measures for a rare festival performance. Rarer still of late have been Electrelane who have been on a self imposed musical hiatus since 2007 and return to bring their high density, hypnotic, prog rock for an exclusive festival performance. Starting with giddy synth pop and ending in crackling Krautrock this band venture into music places that few others dare and it’s set to be one of the highlights of the summer festivals to have them on stage at Field Day.

No strangers to these parts of London, Field Day are thrilled to welcome back The Horrors with Farris and his band returning for another incendiary live performance of sophisticated and beautiful, psychedelic darkness. The promise of new music from their highly anticipated third album, released this summer, suggests this is the moment that The Horrors go supernova. Masterful, country tinged psychadelia and wild vintage sounds come courtesy of The Coral whose wit, mercurial charm and extensive back catalogue of classic folk rock will be a big festival highlight.  Irrepressible Super Furries front man Gruff Rhys also returns to Victoria Park for a solo show having premiered his musically unorthodox Gruff Rhys vs. Tony Gattorra side project to glittering reviews at Field Day last year. Expect gentle, heartfelt musings this time around from a true music pioneer.

World music has always has a significant presence at Field Day and this year is no exception with performances Omar Souleyman, the prolific Syrian musician who has released over 500 live and studio recordings. His vocals veer from impassioned chanting to a tender croon and they sit over a folk infused dance music which has been modernised with distorted guitars, keyboards and four-to-the-floor drums. A truly remarkable performer Omar Souleyman’s performance will be one of the must-see moments of this year’s festival. From the Democratic Republic of Congo, Konono No.1’s percussion and chanting vocals echo traditional trance songs driven by national instrument, the Likembe. This group achieved international recognition with a Grammy nomination and their DIY aesthetic appeals to many international fans of rock and electronic music.

Almost speaking from the heavens will be the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra whose live performance encompasses almost the entire history of jazz from ragtime to swing music, from bebop to free jazz. They will be spreading their cosmic message of love across East London whilst Tortoise’s brawny and visceral post rock is a sure fire destination for those of a more intense music bent looking to check out one of the most influential acts of their generation, inspiring many bands that have formed in their wake

Beats to the fore with Mount Kimbie who never forget to tweak the bass bins live, for that euphoric head rush with their breathtaking widescreen sweep of sound and Factory Floor whose sound is that of an underworld disco, all nihilistic industrial, beats pulsating through a compelling live set. Roska’s unique take on UK Funky, Pearson Sound’s game changing bass music, enigmatic and elusive art terrorists Hype Williams and Oneohtrix Point Never’s drone heavy psychadelia keep the beats fresh and sculpt music into impossible shapes right in the air between the speakers. Matthew Dear takes to the decks for some prolific techno, Trophy Wife showcase their office disco / commuter pop and Ducktails play dirty garage, psychedelic rock.

Stripping everything back to basics will be Willy Mason whose introspective folk, rich voice and charming ramshackle musicianship are underpinned by a dour humour. Ariel Pink was the undisputed god father of the 2010 lo-fi scene and he will be playing tracks from his critically acclaimed, frazzled oddity of a debut album ‘Haunted Graffiti’. Twin Shadow will be performing a set full of world beating, danceable hooks with a surfeit of style while Actress bring their glammy electro disco fever all the way from sun kissed L.A.

Bright, breezy colourful pop songs are the staple of CocknBullKid as her band raise merry funk hell whilst spiritual traveller in soulful sound, Jamie Woon’s delicate post dubstep soulful sound takes the maligned pop soul genre somewhere special. Front man of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters, Mark Kozelk offers up his revered brand of folk rock.

Promoter Tom Baker of Eat Your Own Ears comments, ‘I’m so excited by the line up for Field Day 2011. I know that everyone says each year that their line up is the best yet…! but I really think that this one is! With the likes of Jon Cale, Tortoise (who I’ve been trying to book since year one) Konono No. 1, alongside Jamie Woon, Electrelane’s come back show and Wild Beasts it makes for a colourful and must see event.”

With many more acts to be announced over the forthcoming months as well as details of the celebrated Village Mentality area, Field Day confirms it position as the capitals coolest one day’s knees up.

Underworld and Beirut added to Exit Festival 2011 lineup

Pioneers of electronic music Underworld will also grace Exit Festival this year with their incredible live show. With now nine albums under their belt, their most recent ‘Barking’ is a thundering return to form after a three year hiatus and sees the band perform a feat of creative regeneration once again. They are the undisputed masters of an insane electronic live show that will make your skin tingle with sheer delight. Karl Hyde’s energetic and infectious performance, wrapped in all his intense glory will be a truly magnificent sight to behold within the 17th Century Fortress.

Beirut is the perfect band for those craving something completely different.  Fusing elements of Balkan folk, French chanson, and American indie, principle songwriter and singer Zach Condon fills out classically structured pop songs with charming ukulele, flugelhorn, and accordion.  Condon’s exotic takes on music are strongly influenced by the beauty and sounds of places he’s traveled to, evoking memories, warmth, longing, and inevitably, joy. His first album ‘Gulag Orkestar’ was made single-handedly and to critical acclaim, followed by the massively successful Flying Club Cup, and most recently the double EP ‘March of the Zapotec/Holland’. The band’s live sets are equally as breathtaking to watch as they are to listen to, and it’s the Fusion stage that has the pleasure of hosting them.

Coldplay to headline Glastonbury 2011

The following statement was taken from the Glastonbury website:

“We’re very pleased to confirm that Coldplay will be the Saturday night Pyramid Stage headliners at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Coldplay have played such a major part in the Festival over the last 10 years or so,” said Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis. “As their popularity grew around the world I was so proud of them. This is the triumphant return of a band that everyone here feels part of. They’re one of the greatest phenomena to grow from these fields.”

This will be the world-conquering group’s first Glastonbury show since their triumphant 2005 performance. In 1999, Coldplay made their Glastonbury debut in the New Bands Tent, weeks after signing their record deal. Just three years later, they made their first appearance as Pyramid Stage headliners, shortly before the release of their Rush Of Blood To The Head album propelled them to global success. We can’t wait to welcome them back again.”
