Ben Howard headlines Sunday Night at Green Man Festival

Ben Howard joins Saturday night headliners Band of Horses for Green Man 2013, plus we’re delighted to confirm Villagers, Stornoway, Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, Erol Alkan & Daniel Avery, Veronica Falls, Rachel Zeffira, Half Moon Run, Sweet Baboo, Jacco Gardner, Teleman, and Annie Dressner are all new additions for this year’s line-up!

Ben Howard

Ben Howard headlined the Walled Garden at Green Man 2011, shortly before releasing his Mercury-nominated debut album Every Kingdom. He is currently nominated for two Brit Awards!

Villagers return to Green Man with new album Awayland poised to cement the success of beguiling debut Becoming A Jackal. New single Nothing Arrived, currently receiving heavy radio play, is a corker.

Stornoway return in March with Tales From Terra Firma – an album of compositional and lyrical depth, but one that retains the charm of the debut so many fell in love with.

Johnny Flynn cites Yeats and Shakespeare among his influences, and aided by backing band The Sussex Wit, his cerebral folk rock went down a storm at Green Man 2010.

Erol Alkan & Daniel Avery are, respectively, the founder and current shining star of the Phantasy Sound label. The latter remixed the likes of Django Django, The 2Bears and The Horrors in 2012.

Veronica Falls recently released second album Waiting For Something To Happen last week has been given five stars in the Guardian, and needless to say it is great.

Rachel Zeffira released her debut solo album The Deserters in December. The Canadian singer is one half of Cats Eyes, alongside Faris Badwan of The Horrors.

Half Moon Run is a Canadian trio that fuses restless elements of indie, pop and folk with beautiful harmonies, delicate guitar lines and a hint of warm electronica.

Sweet Baboo releases new album Ships in April. Current single Let’s Go Swimming Wild, out yesterday, is a sublime piece of bittersweet, brass-driven Welsh indie pop.

Jacco Gardner is a 24-year-old maverick psychedelic musician from Holland whose Cabinet Of Curiosities album calls to mind disparate influences including Curt Boettcher, Broadcast and Nirvana.

Teleman are an ace new London three-piece that rose from the ashes of former band Pete & The Pirates. Recent single Cristina is one of the tunes of 2013 so far.

Annie Dressner recently moved to the UK from her hometown of New York City; her new EP, East Twenties, showcases her straightforward lyrical style, sharp ear for wordplay and crisp, lilting vocals.

Mogwai confirmed as final headliner for Green Man 2012

We're also thrilled to announce that Dexys, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Lower Dens, King Charles, Cate Le Bon and more also join the bill for this year's festival!

Formed in 1995 in Glasgow, Mogwai are famed for performing lengthy instrumentals with melodic bass lines, dynamic contrasts and heavy use of distortion and effects pedals. From classic debut Mogwai Young Team to supporting the Pixies and composing the soundtrack to a film about Zinedine Zidane, this is a band that never rests on its laurels.

Mogwai’s 10th album – Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will – was released last year. Their headline set (the band's only UK show this summer) is sure to bring Friday night on the Mountain Stage to a suitably epic conclusion beneath the moonlit silhouette of the Sugar Loaf.

PLUS! Also newly-added to the ever expanding Green Man 2012 line up are:

Dexys Reformed incarnation of legendary ‘80s soul pop pioneers Dexys Midnight Runners, led by the great Kevin Rowland. With a new look inspired by 1940s noir and the excellent album One Day I’m Going To Soar, which is out on Monday, is a barnstorming return to form. Mojo have given it five stars, while Uncut have said 'It might just be the best record of the year and the best of Rowland's career'. If that wasn't enough to wet your appetite, a recent string of highly anticipated live dates that also featured classic Dexys hits have been receiving rave reviews across the board including full marks from The Guardian.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich The Yorkshire-born singer/songwriter’s melancholic brand of acoustic folk-pop has drawn comparisons with the likes of Jose Gonzalez and Iron & Wine. Inspired by Elliott Smith and Bruce Springsteen, he taught himself to play the guitar aged 10. He made his Green Man debut in 2011 after releasing acclaimed first album Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm.

Lower Dens Swarming guitar fuzz, bass waves and insistent drum throbs from the Baltimore new wave drone pop outfit, fronted by Jana Hunter.

King Charles Uniquely British psych-inflected pastoral whimsy from the dandy West Londoner currently promoting debut album Loveblood.

Cate le Bon Beguiling Welsh songstress currently residing in Cardiff's infamous French quarter – as befits a songwriter whose music is heady and highly personal Gallic stew inspired by the likes of Nico and Pavement.  Her new album Cryk is one of the highlights of 2012 so far, marrying the playfulness of Faust and Syd Barrett with the tropical melodies of Os Mutantes.

Withered Hand Heartfelt acoustic loveliness from the Fence Records endorsed quartet, led by fragile-voiced Scottish songwriter Dan Willson.

Paul Thomas Saunders With influences such as Joe Meek and Leonard Cohen, Paul Thomas Saunders encapsulates both the psychedelic soundscape and intellectual sentimentality that the sixties graced us with, then wraps it up in a spiralling contemporary shell.

Crybaby Crybaby is the alias of Bristol singer/songwriter Danny Coughlan. The ten songs which make up his self-titled debut album are beautifully crafted and imbued with a sparse, timeless clarity. Neither a note nor a word is wasted.

Stuff Three piece Manchester band who describe their sound as “Yoda Rock”. Currently recording their second album in their own purpose built studio.

Van Morrison to headline Green Man Festival 2012

When it comes to legends, they don’t come much bigger than this. He’s been near the top of your “most wanted” list since the very early days of Green Man, so we’re totally chuffed to have him headline our 10th anniversary festival!

Van MorrisonVan formed Them in his native Belfast in 1964, his matchless R&B songwriting and vocal prowess resulting in classic cuts such as Gloria and Here Comes The Night, before solo success beckoned with the worldwide smash hit Brown-Eyed Girl.

Following the groundbreaking Astral Weeks – a mystical song cycle regarded as one of the greatest albums ever made –Van’s move to America inspired a string of near-flawless early ‘70s LPs including Moondance and Tupelo Honey.

Whether duetting with the likes of John Lee Hooker and Ray Charles, or stealing the show with The Band in Martin Scorcese’s must-see concert film The Last Waltz, few live performers can match the power and passion of “The Belfast Cowboy”.

Voted one place ahead of Michael Jackson in Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers of All Time list, Van Morrison headlines the Mountain Stage at the 10th annual Green Man Festival on Saturday August 18th.

I think I feel a Green Man moment coming on – anyone else? Here are the latest amazing acts joining Van and fellow headliner Feist in Wales’ breathtaking Black Mountains from August 17th – 19th:

Daughter create breathy, atmospherically mean and moody folk songs full of haunting melodies, a twist of electronics and ambient sweeps. Powered by Elena Tonra’s sensational voice, this London trio could be one of the finds of the year.

Bowerbirds, are real-life couple Beth Tacular and Phil Moore. Third album The Clearing is their biggest and boldest yet, with a sense of urgency and scope inspired by near break-ups and near-fatal illnesses.

Beth Jeans Houghton got her big break at Green Man 2008 when Devandra Banhart pulled her out of the crowd to perform one of her songs. Her totally ace debut album Thunder presents the Newcastle singer as a “psychedelic Boudica”. She appears at this year’s festival as Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny

Megafaun, the North Carolina-based trio psych-folk trio make a welcome return to Green Man following the release of their intricate self-titled album in the late 2011.

Psychemagik (DJ set) and Richard Norris are joining the Time & Space Machine psychedelic Sunday night whig-out in the Far Out After Dark

PLUS! Don’t miss brilliant sets by Jamie N Commons, Joe Pug, Nick Mulvey, RM Hubbert, Tiny Ruins and many more great acts – including our third main headliner – who are yet to be announced!

Feist to headline Green Man Festival 2012

The Canadian singer-songwriter will play the 10th anniversary Green Man Festival on Sunday August 19, and heads the first wave of amazing acts confirmed for the most varied and exciting line-up in our decade-long history.

Feist’s Grammy-nominated 2007 solo breakthrough The Reminder sold over a million copies worldwide, while last year’s superb follow-up Metals was declared the best album of 2011 by The New York Times.

A long-standing member of acclaimed music collective Broken Social Scene, Feist has also collaborated with the likes of Wilco, Beck and Grizzly Bear, and this month received a 2012 Brit Award nomination for Best International Female Solo Artist.

What better way to end Green Man’s 10th birthday bash than in the company of one of the most beguiling voices in modern music? Heavenly…
