South West Four (SW4) 2011 dates and pre-sale ticket info

Just three words summed up the August Bank Holiday weekend; SOUTH WEST FOUR! The sun glistened over Clapham Common’s lush carpet, acting as a grassy base for thousands of discerning clubbers. Add to that four heaving arenas, with mind blowing performances from Fatboy Slim, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, Salt N Pepa and Erick Morillo et al. The music, crowd, lasers, lighting and world class production all cemented the event as London’s premier electronic festival experience.

With summer a distant memory as London is caught up in the big freeze, we thought we would thaw you out a bit by confirming the dates for South West Four 2011; our traditional Bank Holiday slot on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August 2011. Be under no illusion, SW4 returns bigger and better than ever before – we have already gone that extra mile by confirming our colossal headline acts, both of which will be revealed soon.

Glade Festival returns for 2011

Glade Festival, which originated as an underground dance stage at Glastonbury, before becoming an award winning independent event in its own right in 2004, is pleased to announce it will be back in 2011 on June 9th -12th at a stunning new (secret for now) location.

After their hiatus in 2010, due unforeseen rises in site costs, this is very welcome news for all dance fans.

As organiser Anselm Guise explains:

“”We are thrilled to be able to say that the Glade will be back in 2011. The festival is being revolutionised yet stripped back to its shiny grass roots…half the capacity that it was in the last few years and getting back to its original spirit but with a big step forward creatively, musically and artistically. We’ve been dying to let everyone know that it is definitely here again and with everything that’s happened we’ve had to ensure that we’ve got something to excite, that we can make happen and that will be a true celebration of life, music and art. We now can. Half the battle was finding the right home for the festival and we really have. We’ve found a belter…proper English parkland where we can do our thing…trees everywhere! The Glade is back…!”

Tier One Tickets are set to be released on January 25th, price tba, and available from the all new Glade Website which is also set to go live on January 25th

I’ve always liked the north. I like the bands too. I’m ready to get down and rave like a Geordie. I’m really happy we get a chance to play at Evolution. We are all deranged spitfires. Do you wanna dance?” – Iggy Pop

Really looking forward to Evolution Festival – every time we have played Newcastle it has always gone off!” – Plan B

Evolution is proud to announce their headliners for the 2011 show. First up on Saturday it’s the legendary Iggy and the Stooges whose raw power and incendiary live performances are the stuff of rock n’ roll legend. Iggy Pop is a genuine musical icon and an influential innovator of rock n roll so expect Iggy and the Stooges sound to reverberate all over the North East.

Sunday’s headliner is Plan B, the hottest property in pop music right now. The antidote to X Factor wannabees, his critically and commercially successful album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks showcased his street wise swagger and cutting edge lyrics and he’s sure to have the masses singing along to his razor sharp, soul tinged anthems.

It’s a testament to the growing international profile of Evolution that we are able to secure and announce our 2011 headliners so early. Iggy & The Stooges will own the mainstage on the Saturday night – Iggy’s unparalleled energy makes him one of the finest front men ever to grace the stage and the North East is in for a real treat with this headline performance. Plan B has become a huge phenomenon over the last year – his 21st century soul is the perfect way to close the festival on Sunday night. The live show is an incredible journey through the album and beyond. It’s fantastic to have him on board”. – Jim Mawdsley and Dave Stone – Evolution Promoters

Full supporting cast to be announced in early 2011.

Flow Festival 2011 Dates announced

Flow Festival reached a record-breaking audience in 2010, attracting altogether 50,000 visitors over three festival days plus the opening concert.

As in 2009, Flow Festival will compensate its carbon dioxide emissions according to the plan drafted in co-operation with the consulting agency Pöyry. The total carbon emissions of Flow in 2010 were 162 tonnes, which is some 20% (24 tonnes) higher than in 2009. Roughly 87% of the emissions were caused by the artists’ travel. According to Pöyry, Flow succeeded well in reducing the consumption of elecricity at the festival, and also in encouraging environmentally friendly ways for the audience to arrive at the site.

Flow will release a limited supply of three-day tickets for the 2011 event for sale for the price of 2010 during December. The Christmas tickets will go on sale at Tiketti on December 1 2010.

Spend days leisurely cafe hopping in the city of Novi Sad, enjoying the Serbian sun and hospitality by the River Danube, and spend nights experiencing and exploring the festival in the magical Petrovardin Fortress. With over 20 stages hosting a variety of musical genres ranging from rock, dance, indie, latino, reggae, electronica, chill out and regional music, there is no better festival in the world that brings you so much value and so much variety! 2011 looks set to be another unforgettable year.

Check out the video highlights from 2010 http://www.youtube.com/EXITFestivalTV

2011 will also see pre & post EXIT events happening in the city of Novi Sad and Belgrade, so festival go-ers can spend longer in Serbia experiencing the warmth of the Serbian people whilst having fun and seeing new sights and cities. It’s an adventure and festival in one!

EXIT understands the financial situation is still difficult for many and students more-so than ever before and therefore are keeping the ticket prices as low as possible this year. The First Release tickets are still cheaper than any UK festival at only £89+b/f but there is a capped number of them. Once the first release are all sold out, from then on Second Release ticket price will rise to £105, so buy tickets early and save 15%! Still it’s a bargain and for sunshine, no mud and lots of wonderful experiences, it’s a golden ticket for summer 2011. EXIT ticks all the right boxes and is still the best value festival ticket around!

And if the value-for-money, unique, awe-inspiring location and good weather aren’t enough, EXIT 2011 will host over 400 performances on 20 stages connected by cobbled streets, ramparts and tunnels – a walk through the mystical fortress is like a trip through a magical wonderland. The Dance Arena is regarded by many as the best in Europe – if not the planet – and the experience of dancing with 20,000 people as the sun rises over the fortress walls is truly mind blowing.

Having already captured the imagination of festival goers to become a ‘must do’ event on the festival calendar, EXIT is also a favourite with artists who are amazed by the atmosphere and unique location. Here’s what Dan Coop from Does it offend you Yeah! had to say after performing last year – “Exit Festival is probably the best festival in the world, some of the more corporate offerings around the world need to take a step back and watch what’s going down in Novi Sad!”

EXIT is one of the most highly regarded festivals in Europe, being nominated for ‘Best Overseas Festival’ in the UK Festival Awards for the past 4 years, winning the coveted title in 2007 and runner up in 2010. In addition EXIT has also been nominated for ‘Best Major Festival’ in European Festival Awards for 2 years running.

And not forgetting the festivals roots and special meaning – Launched 12 years ago as a student initiated protest against the communist Milosevic regime, EXIT has proved that music is a universal language that can connect and bring people together to make the world a better place. EXIT continues to evolve and bring like minded people together and although it gets bigger each year, the sentiment and unique vibe remains the same.
