Flow Festival, organised this year for the eight time in Helsinki on August 12–14 has added more artists to its line up. In addition to the newly-added artists, the daily schedule for the festival is released and the day tickets plus two day tickets will go on sale today.
New additions to the Flow Festival line up include the British New Wave legends The Human League, plus The Battles, Jamie Woon, and About Group, which is the latest project of Hot Chip vocalist Alexis Taylor.
The early evening concert series organized at club Voimala on the festival site feature three distinct sound concepts over the festival weekend. On Friday, the German artist Hauschka together with Finland’s Samuli Kosminen present their experimental stylings, whereas Saturday will see the rise of young Nordic singer-songwriters. Thus far confirmed for Saturday at Voimala are Sweden’s First Aid Kit and the Finnish newcomer Mirel Wagner, with an additional third act to be announced. On Sunday, the American “new grass” star Tony Thrischka will perform solo.
The strong club line up at Flow will receive additions in 2562, A Love From Outer Space (Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston), Zomby, Horse Meat Disco and Analog Africa Soundsystem. The Los Angeles club institution The Do-Over hosted by Aloe Blacc will mark their first ever appearance in Europe at Flow’s Sunday club programming.
New Finnish acts added to the bill include Delay Trees, Minä ja Ville Ahonen, Non Person, Renassaince Man, and We Love Helsinki.
A new Flow venue this year, the rooms normally occupied by the Helsinki centre for contemporary circus, Cirko, will host the experimental music and visual arts programming entitled “The Other Sound”. The first act announced on the bill is the Mexican electronic music composer Murcof, perfoming together with the AntiVJ collective.
The full line up for”The Other Sound” concept will be released in June, and more acts will still be added to the Flow line up at large during the coming weeks.
