Final acts announced for Deer Shed Festival

It’s not only the Deer Shed Festival 3 theme that is big this year (in case you missed the announcement on Monday, its monsters), the festival itself is stretching its wings a little – bigger site, new stages, more live music and a whole host of debuts from theatre, spoken word and poetry through to over 40 exotic animals visiting the site on Sunday, much bigger paintball art guns and a lake! The festival team are thrilled to today announce the final acts for their expanded music bill.

The shoegaze pop trio-turned-duo School of Seven Bells will headline the In The Dock Stage on Saturday. Completing the bill on this stage on the middle day of the festival will be WoodenboxLaki MeraAKϟDK and the previously announced Paul Thomas Saunders. Arthur Rigby & The Baskervylles play the Lake Stage on Friday night and Gary Stewart plays a solo slot on Saturday on the same stage before playing bass for Ellen and The Escapades later that day. The Deer Shed Stage on Friday will be headlined by Sam Airey with support from R M Hubbertand Monument Valley and on Saturday Beccy Owen headlines with Boat To Row and Serious Sam Barrett.

Deer Shed Festival = the vibe of a lazy Sunday afternoon in the perfect pub beer garden, sound-tracked by a bill that resembles the 6 Music playlist. Shortlisted for the Best Family-Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2011, this is an independent festival run by a family for the family. The Deer Shed Festival team book bands they love, work with like-minded people, keep it chilled, don’t squeeze a thousand tents into a field the size of a postage stamp and don’t charge a fortune. Good old-fashioned hospitality and great bands. Taking place at the beginning of the school holidays, Deer Shed Festival is the perfect break from everyday life for all the family and all for less than £200 for a family of four.

Graham Coxon, Baxter Dury and more set for Live at Jodrell Bank 2012

Live From Jodrell Bank sees artists performing large-scale outdoor concerts in the shadow of the iconic Lovell telescope, one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world and the Blur lead guitarist and solo artist is a welcome addition to what is shaping up to be a spectacular bill.  Graham releases his highly anticipated 8th solo album ‘A + E’ on 2nd April and his records mix alt-rock, folk and lo-fi with consummate ease.  Graham Coxon is revered by his musical peers being described by Noel Gallagher as ‘the most gifted guitarist of his generation’ and has previously collaborated with Paul Weller on the single ‘This Old Town’.

Graham recently picked up the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award with Blur at the NME Awards and his set will be the perfect prelude to the Modfather taking the stage.

Baxter Dury showcases the expertly constructed psychedelic pop joy of his ‘Happy Soup’ album.  His sharp portraits of odd ball characters and hook laden storytelling have marked him out as a wordsmith of some renown and his self professed ‘seaside psychadelia’ is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Collaborators of choice to the A-list, Little Barrie have also been added to a sonically charged line up.  Having worked with Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, Spiritualized and Paul Weller himself, the band’s lead guitarist Barrie Cadogan is often referred to as the greatest guitarist of his generation and his band bring their undiluted rock n’ roll swagger to Jodrell Bank for what is set to be an unforgettable live performance.

Currently residing at Number 1 in the album chart with ‘Sonik Kicks’, Paul Weller is an internationally acclaimed star whose song-writing is a huge part of British Culture, throughout his musical career from his early days in The Jam, to his much loved hits with The Style Council, as well as a solo career spanning over 20 years. With Brit Awards, Mercury Nominations and an Ivor Novello Award, Paul Weller has provided music lovers with hits such as The Changing ManYou Do Something To Me and Wake Up the Nation.

Elbow’s show at Live From Jodrell Bank on 23rd June sold out in 90 minutes and tickets for Paul Weller’s date are selling fast so early booking is essential to see artists performing in this amazing setting.

The Live From Jodrell Bank series sees some of the most innovative artists performing in this unique and dramatic setting, marrying science and music and bringing the audience superlative sounds from earth and beyond. The bands will even project visuals onto the 76 metre Lovell telescope. Last year The Flaming Lips, British Sea Power, OKGO and Wave Machines performed in front of this awe inspiring backdrop in a show bought to you by the creative minds behind Kendal Calling, The Warehouse Project and Ear To The Ground.

Before the spectacular evening concerts and throughout each day, attendees will be able to participate in a fantastic range of hands-on experiments and workshops on site at Jodrell Bank. This year the Science Arena at Live from Jodrell Bank will be expanding beyond the stars and with full access to the magnificent Discovery centre included in every ticket, this is a great chance to find out more about the mind-blowing research happening at Jodrell Bank. Explore the wonders of the universe and find out for yourself why stargazing has enjoyed a massive resurgence in the past few years.

For over five decades, the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been part of the Cheshire landscape and an internationally renowned landmark for astronomers.  Since the summer of 1957 it has been exploring the depths of outer space in a quest for knowledge. It remains one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world, spending most of its time investigating cosmic phenomena that were undreamed of when it was first conceived.

Live From Jodrell Bank – a stellar line-up in a truly unique location…

Evile, Marionette and more added to Bloodstock 2012

Guitarist Old Drake comments:

"It was great to wake up to the confirmation of our appearance at the one and only Bloodstock Festival. With the release of our "Five Serpent's Teeth" album we dedicated the track "Centurion" to the festival, and for them to have us back with a great slot on the Sophie Lancaster stage, it's bound to be a show to remember. We may just even have a special, first time live-airing, of the previously mentioned track for the BOA masses. Come along for your Evile fix! Long live Bloodstock!"

Making their UK festival debut, Gothenburg’s MARIONETTE will help get the party started on the Thursday night on the SOPHIE stage. With their roots in melodic death metal, last year’s “Nerve” album saw the band evolve into something truly unique, combining industrial laced metal with stunning soundscapes, earning them rave reviews across the board. "Our sights are firmly set on the UK following our recent run there with Dead By April, "Slay The UK tour" in May and our upcoming appearance at Bloodstock Open Air in August.” Says guitarist and mainman Aron Parmerud. “ BOA is a festival we have heard great things about from fans and bands we have toured with and we look forward to tearing up the East Midlands again!"

They are joined by Brighton rockers FURYON, who’s recently released Gravitas album is currently earning them praise and adoration across the world of rock. Iconic riffs, jaw dropping solos and one of the tightest rhythm sections this country has ever produced, the SOPHIE stage is in for a treat. The band checked in to say:

“Furyon are delighted to be booked for the immense bloodstock for our second year and are proud to be able to contribute to the sophie lancaster stage and foundation.”

They are joined by UK metal mongers DERISION, who will deliver a furious set of 80s inspired thrash bound to go down a storm at the UK’s most metal festival.

At only £115 for a four day ticket with camping included, BLOODSTOCK offers incredible value for money and more exclusive appearances than any other festival. With headline sets from BEHEMOTH, ALICE COOPER, plus a very very special mystery headliner – to be revealed at 6pm on the 6th June – comedy, fairground rides and a genuine real ale bar, there is no better place for the British metalhead this summer.

The band’s 1991 album Badmotorfinger produced the singles ‘Jesus Christ Pose’ and ‘Rusty Cage’ whilst its follow up, 1994’sSuperunknown, which reached No.1 on the US Billboard Chart and No. 4 on the UK Album Chart, featured the singles ‘Black Hole Sun’ ‘Fell On Black Days’ and ‘Spoonman’. Soundgarden have sold over 21 million albums worldwide.

Iggy and the Stoogies

Other additions to the line up include the godfathers of punk Iggy & The Stooges, whose high energy live shows and onstage antics always get the crowds going. The band are one of the most influential groups of the past 50 years, with the 1973 critically-acclaimed album Raw Power being cited by Kurt Cobain amongst many others as one of their top albums of all time. Multi-million selling Cold Chisel have also been confirmed, playing their tough breed of seventies style rock and blues. Their new album No Plans was released earlier this year.

“Soundgarden was an innovator in the Seattle grunge music scene, and we are honored to have them take the 2012 Hard Rock Calling stage and add a different genre of music to an already incredibly diverse lineup,” said Hamish Dodds, President and CEO of Hard Rock International.  “We are also truly excited to soon announce the winner of Hard Rock Rising and give an up-and-coming band the chance to live out their dream and perform at one of the UK’s most anticipated music festivals.”
