As electronic artists, Italian techno duo Mathame considers technology to be the mother of their world. Having always wanted to cross the line between music and art, they are now about to do so in spectacular fashion with the launch of their very own Angel Alphabet NFT. Mathame will be donating a portion of proceeds from the sales to Carbon180 in their efforts to offset and reduce carbon emissions.

Mathame is an Italian techno pair who bring real depth of emotion to their grooves. They release on labels like Tale Of Us’s Afterlife, Sony/B1 and have a truly emotive and deep techno sound that’s full of melody. They are still riding high off the success of their globally acclaimed 2020 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, and have recently launched a groundbreaking series of mixtapes that have been put together with a brand new A.I. algorithm developed to test the power of the new M1 processor architecture by Apple. “Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1” landed in March 2021, with further installments to follow throughout the year. But now they lead from the front with this game-changing new multi-media NFT project.

Says the pair, “With Angel Alphabet, we are trying to solve a problem that we felt from the beginning: Where are the big stories, the Myths, and Legends of this new digital metaverse? So we called a crew of 12 visual artists that we love and we challenged ourselves to build the very first MYTH of the Metaverse. We named it “metamyth” and after research we wrote a simple concept to tell a fictional story where DigitalBot and Angels fought, and during the battle, Angels lost their Alphabet somewhere in the Metaverse. The challenge was to imagine the shape of the letters, where they were and how they got there, and present them to the public. The output of the research will come in 12 unique pieces of digital art. But this is just the beginning of a new media narrative.”

Each artwork is a unique, 30-second audio-visual offering that immediately drops you deep into Mathame’s archeo-futuristic world. There is a narrative to each one, with dramatic and cinematic music bringing real energy and tension to the abstract visual. Some feature liquid metal shapes displayed like sculptures on a rock planet, others see colourful clouds drifting through a haunting space and there are also explosions of particles in glass boxes, fields of flowers blowing in a warm wind featureless figures framing more abstract digital art. They are soothing, fascinating pieces that very much get you lost in the moment and admiring the beauty of the forms and textures.

On the day of release fans will be invited to experience Mathame’s OVR live performance where they will be presenting the full collection and playing a set in a unique virtual world via https://www.ovr.ai/. This avant-garde project will be explained via Mathame’s socials and fans will then be invited to download the OVR app and experience the special virtual reality private viewing of the full collection at 7pm on May 30th.

Ovr is the decentralized platform for geolocalized AR/VR experiences. We use NFTs as spatial domains: basically, we divided the world into 300 sqm hexagons, each one represented by an NFT. Just like on the web where people own a web domain and control the content over there, in OVR people who own the NFT representing a geographic location will decide the AR/VR content for their own hexagon. Some of the major uses for this include gaming (PokemonGo style), live events, virtual retail, virtual exhibitions, avatars, tourism, real estate showcase, art exhibitions and many more

NFTs are transforming the digital art world, “ Non-Fungible-Token” aka NFT are one-of-a-kind token that represents a unique asset or content that can be bought and sold by collectors; using blockchain technologies to keep track of provenance and ownership. When a collector buys an artist’s pieces as an NFT, they’re buying the unique token representing the digital artwork. Ownership is then recorded in a tamper-proof way by the token, which also guarantees the artist a percentage of any future sales.
