City Splash London 2021 announces lineup

City Splash 2021

A festival celebrating the influence of reggae music, food and culture in South LDN

Website: www.city-splash.com

1 Day • 4 Stages • 40 + Artists • 8000 People • 15 + Food Traders

Reggae

The City Splash mission is to celebrate the impact and importance of reggae music on British culture, birthing everything from Ska, Rocksteady, Dub, Roots, Dancehall, Lovers Rock to its UK ancestors of UK Reggae, Jungle, Hip Hop, Garage, Grime and  Drum and Bass; the influence of Reggae has been a constant in the UK for 50 years. Not only has it brought us the riddims and the lifestyle influence, but it’s a genre that expresses and addresses social issues and their solutions through the music’s messages.

Food

We will be hosting London’s finest Carribean street food vendors in collaboration with London Jerk Fest; sampling favourite delights from jerk chicken to vegan ital stew, fried plantains and much much more. For those of you looking for a more liquid lunch, expect an unparalleled rum vendor selection and locally brewed craft beers, stouts and spirits to add a little fyah to the day.

Culture

Reggae’s influence on youth culture in London runs deep, the genre’s heartbeat rhythm and lyrics about love, redemption and natural living deeply affect fashions, lifestyles, friendships and unify strangers internationally. We believe such an important genre musically and socially deserves a prominent place on the annual live music calendar in London and we’re hyped to be bringing it to South London this September.

Location

The festival is located in the beautiful Beckenham Place Park near to Crystal Palace and is home to ancient woodland and rolling grassy hills. With FOUR music stages dedicated to the biggest of reggae acts, you can happily bop around between the unique production sites to catch your favorites.

New Trend Report Shows a Hunger for travel & festivals for 2021 and Beyond

‘Experience Commerce’ Platform EASOL Shares Findings From The First Ever In Trend Report.

PDF Report:

https://easol.com/easol-better-days-are-coming.pdf

Easol is the first of its kind – an all-in-one ‘experience commerce’ platform that offers everything experience creators (across wellness, sports, adventure, festivals, F&B and more) need to take control of all aspects of their business.

Today, as consumers race to book a range of experiences as stay at home orders are lifted, the platform announces fascinating findings from their all-new in-depth experience economy trend report ‘Better Days Are Coming,’ which was commissioned to investigate trends around consumer travel and experiences in 2021 and beyond. Despite an extremely challenging 12 months for the experience economy, there is a positive outlook for what the future holds in what is set to be a decade like no other in demand.

The ‘Better Days Are Coming’ experience economy report saw more than 3000 consumers surveyed across Europe and North America on their travel intentions. It offers comprehensive analysis of the sector and provides valuable insights to those operating in the experience economy on how the world is going to travel in 2021 and beyond. It also features interviews and case studies from Easol’s community of experience creators and industry experts from the worlds of wellness, festivals, surf and sports, including global wellness platform Wanderlust, Transformational Travel Council, festival organisers Mustard Media and many more.

The comprehensive report was launched at the Easol online showcase event on April 15th to demonstrate the ‘new way to sell experiences online’ that gives the power back to experience creators with Easol’s experience commerce platform. The showcase also gave ideas and recommendations for how businesses can respond to these trends.

Key predictions found in the report include an enormous pent up demand for travel, that consumer confidence in group travel is certainly up and that experience businesses who adapt and evolve will fare the best.

Key findings:

85% of travellers would choose to go on an experience holiday if they could take only one trip in 2021

86% of travellers are planning to go on an experience holiday in 2022

77.4% of travellers would feel comfortable in a group holiday with people from outside their household

59% of people would prefer groups of up to 10 people

81% of North American travellers would consider sharing a room with another participants

70% of European solo travellers would consider sharing a room with another participant

75% of creators feel optimistic about their experience business in 2021

Before the pandemic, 40% of people took three to five trips a year. As many as 33% of us now plan to spend more on travel in 2021 than in previous years.

The report also highlights case studies from experience creators such as Envision Festival as a way of highlighting how the sector has been adapting and thriving despite the pandemic. The wellness and surf festival set in Costa Rica has already recorded an impressive triple digit growth in ticket sales for their 2022 event.

Ben Simpson, CEO of Easol said:

“It is an unprecedented time for experience creators who have seen huge challenges, but as we emerge from lockdown, this new-era holds enormous opportunity for experience businesses. We are only on the cusp of what is the greatest demand we have ever seen to travel and have these ‘kinetic’, ‘in real life’ experiences we have been craving for what feels like a lifetime! Experience creators have never had to be so agile and adapt for their businesses to survive and we hope this report provides some hope and useful insights to anyone operating in the experience economy and we look forward to sharing more insights and positive stories in the near future.”

Easol is the new way to sell experiences online. For the first time ever, experience businesses from yoga retreats, surf camps, festivals, sports trips and adventure tours will never have to outsource their business to traditional e-commerce platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix), booking platforms (Eventbrite, active.com) or experience marketplaces (GetYourGuide, Airbnb) which are not viable solutions, offering ineffective services that are more costly, vulnerable to errors, significantly more time consuming with more manual processes and ultimately cap the business’ potential growth.

Despite an extremely challenging year for the experience economy, Easol has seen staggering growth after recently securing more than $4.5m in funding from world-class technology investors like Notion Capital with participation from Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, Slow Ventures and Micheal Zeisser – former Chairman of US investments at Alibaba. After the initial vaccine announcement, the company also saw its largest ever month in booking and processing volume, which was up 25% from pre-pandemic figures.

Easol supports creators all over the globe across all experience sectors including festivals, wellness retreats, F&B, sports, adventure trips and more. Clients include major industry players such as Ibiza Rocks, Global Cycle Network, The Sunday Times. The platform has secured these high end clients by providing them with complete control of all aspects of their experience business. In turn, this allows them to focus on driving more direct sales, retain more revenue, own their data and run their business on their terms.

DJ Koze has been one of the most adventurous and constantly entertaining producers of the 20th century. His latest studio album Knock Knock featured numerous greats including Róisín Murphy, Bon Iver and José González. The album scored an 8.8/10 on Pitchfork and the lead hit ‘Pick Up’ is a timeless classic that will be heard on radio and dancefloors for many years to come.

Co-headlining the show is Swedish solo phenomenon José González, who has become globally recognized for his indie pop and intimate acoustics. He recently released his first single in 5 years, ‘El Invento’, his first Spanish song, written with his daughter. The connection with the show comes from his collaboration with DJ Koze on ‘Music On My Teeth’. This will be González’s first show in the UK since 2019.

Playing the penultimate slot on the labyrinth stage before DJ Koze, is none other than everyone’s favourite selector Motor City Drum Ensemble. MCDE’s eclectic taste in music and impeccable DJ skills see him move from techno to disco to soul to house. His eclectic sets have made him become one of the most favoured DJs of our time. MCDE at this magical venue, is set to be nothing but utter euphoria.

Having won the BRIT Awards Producer of 2020 after producing over 30% of 2019’s #1 hits, FRED AGAIN.. has, in no time at all, solidified himself as one the most exciting producers of our time. The list of profound artists he’s worked with goes on and on – Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, Eminem, FKA Twigs and more. Now, his debut album ‘Actual Life (April 14th – December 17th 2020)’ will be released on April 16th. ‘Marea (We’ve Lost Dancing)’ which features vocal samples from the Blessed Madonna, is already set to be a hit of the summer and was released the day lockdown lifting was announced in the UK. His solo career is about to pop and this is his only announced UK summer show other than All Points East. With an eagerly anticipated third album ‘Swimming Static’ soon to be released, Elder Island joins the event with their house infected dance music. The album was recorded in their Bristol basement studio during quarantine and is a ten-track dance album. If ‘The Omnitone Collection’ was anything to go by, Swimming Static will be one of the albums of the summer.

Opening the Labyrinth Stage is Amsterdam based radio DJ, record enthusiast and party-starter Suze Ijó, who brings her eclectic range of music to the show. Whilst the Labyrinth Stage stage features a mix of live shows and DJ performances, the Treehouse Stage will feature DJ sets throughout the day. London favourite Josey Rebelle will close out the intimate treehouse stage with her genre-bending sets. Musician, producer, broadcaster, DJ and one of Ninja Tune’s favourites Nabihah Iqbal brings her wide ranging sounds that draw on her experiences in her native Pakistan to the treehouse stage a DJ set. Sedef Adasi, a resident DJ of the notorious Blitz Club in Munich bounces in between euphoric techno, house classics, space disco and tough electro with elegance and ease. She debuted on Permanent Vacation in 2020, a label that is familiar to the Labyrinth fans. Labyrinth’s curator and resident DJ Nick Castle will play an extended opening set on the Treehouse Stage.

Conduit Launches Game Changing Technology to the World of Live Streaming

Using the technology for live stage productions, VR experiences and Augmented reality

Check Behind-the-Scenes Productionvideo

Conduit is shaking up the world of live streaming by making a cost effective game-changing suite of tools and technology available to everyone, rather than just big budget Hollywood and video game productions who have benefited from it in the past. This unique new service is a vital new addition for artists, labels and events looking to upgrade their live streams, design newly interactive visual performances and stand proudly apart from the crowd.

Conduit aims to make real time interactive performances accessible for artists and audiences alike. The underlying game engine technology used is the same that VFX studios including Disney rely on to create productions such as the recent Star Wars Mandalorian series and the Marvel CMU movies, amongst other CGI heavy productions. In terms of live performances, the action is captured via a series of virtual cinematic cameras that combine to create a sense of real connection to the artist and the performance.

The concept came about as a pure reaction to the ongoing pandemic and was a creative endeavour to find a more immersive and interactive format to the ‘head in a box’ style live streams that have flooded social channels in the last year. With an internal wheelhouse that already consisted of game development and video production, it made sense for Conduit to develop an optimal process that could evolve the livestream format and provide a way to dynamically capture the energy of an artist’s performance and then feed that into an interactive audio reactive world.

Since launching in early 2020, Conduit has produced a number of full feature length performances for Insomniac TV, Kryder and Black Hole Recordings with the new shows coming thick and fast. An amazing behind the scenes production video gives a quick glimpse into how the next level Kryteria streams were put together. The debut Kryteria show for Insomniac TV features a full range of services including full body motion capture, avatar creation, rigging and audio reactive world development, and can be viewed on Vimeo. A trailer for the upcoming Kryteria Metaverse can also be viewed here.

Says Kryder of the project, “We partnered with Conduit for a series of virtual performances after they wowed us with the technology and its possibilities. The reception to the first airing on Insomniac TV and Nicky Romero’s Protocol show blew people’s minds and we are excited to deliver the forthcoming Kryteria Metaverse album using the technology next month. Big things coming!”

Conduit have also used the game engine to create a series of trailers and visuals for ilan Bluestone’s upcoming album ‘Impulse’ on Anjunabeats which can be seen in this video.

Anjunabeats’ Amy Wiles testifies, “We have been working with Conduit on the new ilan Bluestone album campaign which visually has turned out to be a roaring success across our social media platforms and has brought the campaign and ilan’s visual world to life just how we imagined.”

Bluestone himself adds, “Working with Conduit and their technology has been absolutely mind blowing. The graphics and animation potential of the Unreal Engine and the creative ideas from the Conduit team is just on another level as they showed in the trailer for my new album ‘Impulse’. The Unreal Engine is the future of any CGI video and I’m excited to see this technology evolve and can’t wait to start using it as visuals for my live shows.”

Conduit Founder and Creative Director Clarke Noone says, “After a few rounds of iteration and finding the right tech partners, we moved to integrating a Rokoko full body motion capture system that feeds live animation data into the Unreal Engine – a high end game engine that is becoming very popular in the VFX and film industry. The beauty of using this cutting edge technology means that we are well equipped for what is round the corner and already hard at work on what a holographic version of the product looks like.

With a couple shows now under our belt, people are starting to see what is possible with Conduit and quickly firing ideas back at us for how we can use the tech for live stage productions, VR experiences and Augmented reality. Our quick-fire response – “Anything is possible!”

Conduit is very much at the forefront of this exciting new technological development, so now is the time to get involved and remain truly ahead of the curve as you bring a whole new visual dimension and heightened sense of occasion and experience to your live streams.

Labyrinth Open-Air debuts at Tofte Manor with Dixon and Âme

Pre-sale sign up: https://ra.co/pre/1439591

Date: Saturday 10th July

Time: 12.00 – 22.00

Location: Tofte Manor, MK441HH

Labyrinth’s first show at Tofte Manor is here.

Innervisions’ kingpins Dixon and Âme return to the UK for their first b2b in the country since 2019. A duo whose work through the Innervisions record label, their productions and their DJ sets, have played a pivotal role in defining the house music scene we know today.

The pair are well known for pushing boundaries, performing at unique offsite locations – turning the Royal Albert Hall into a nightclub for example. On July 10th, they will bring their unique creativity to the spiritual sanctuary of Tofte Manor.  There could not be a more fitting headline act to grace this venue for the first time.

The groundbreaking Ninja Tune label plays a key role in this billing with the star ridden TSHA and Sofia Kourtesis on the bill. TSHA’s Flowers EP saw global accolades last winter and Sofia Kourtesis’ debut Fresia Magdalena EP recently released on Ninja’s Technicolor saw a 7.5/10 review with Pitchfork

Carista brings pure energy and a wide range of sounds to the show. A curator who’s DJ sets can feature sounds from soul, electronic, house, disco and UKG. Carista will close the treehouse stage deep in the woods – one you know is going to be special.

Correspondent boss Jennifer Cardini brings her unique style that fuses techno, electro and disco to the labyrinth stage. A true tastemaker, who’s held residencies at Rex Club and Berghain’s Panorama bar. Her charisma is infectious and her DJ sets nothing short of exquisite.

Innervisions favourites Trikk and Jimi Jules join the labyrinth stage and bring their unique style of enchanting deep house music that Innervisions has become so well regarded for. Rumour has it Trikk has a new album coming out on Innervisions this year.

Terr who’s seen releases on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy, Permanent Vacation, Correspondant and more brings her hard hitting sound that blends techno, electro, and house.  Hailing from Antwerp, Lola Haro is one to watch and was awarded “Most promising artist of 2019” by Redbull. She holds a residency at Paradise City Festival.

Alex Medina, who featured on Dixon’s Transmoderna complication and has an upcoming release on Labyrinth Records, which will drop just before July 10th, joins the show from the Canary Islands.

Labyrinth’s curator and resident DJ Nick Castle also features.

Take a virtual tour and find out more about the venue here: www.labyrinthevents.com/tofte-manor

ZENFest 2021 is set to build on its already cultured and boutique experience with a brand new and stunning location in the rolling green landscapes of Essex’s Kelvedon Hall. On Saturday 4th September, you’re invited to a secret hideaway amongst ancient woodland at the end of a long driveway and party by the glistening lake in front of a historic Edwardian house with world class sounds from tastemaking homegrown talents including Richy Ahmed, ANOTR, Rossi, Pat Wilson, Max Dean, Ryan Resso, DJ Caspa, Funk Cartel. Sign-Up to the newsletter for pre-sale tickets at zenfestofficial.com

Since 2018, ZEN Fest has carefully yet confidently become a much talked about event for those who like personal vibes, intimate dancing and friendly crowds. That’s because it was a festival born in a garden, so has never lost that personal touch despite becoming a nationally recognised event. ZENfest is all about the customer experience so people feel like they enter another world when they arrive on site thanks to the exquisite decorations and themes which mostly centre around the art of ZEN – so think dragons, pandas, bamboo and lanterns and you will be in the right headspace.

It is a festival that has always focussed on the small details that make the whole experience that bit more special – VIP sections with queue jump, private cocktail bars, luxury toilets, luxury seating and a private lakeside garden area. The location is a beautiful mansion house with extensive formal gardens beneath wide open blue skies. From the front of the house and facing onto a perfectly manicured lawn is the most incredible view of uninterrupted countryside, all the way to London on the horizon. Add in two stages with stunning visuals, world class sound and forward thinking stage designs and you have a festival that is all about ensuring a zen state of mind and hedonistic experience that leaves people desperate for more.

Say founders Stefan Poelman and Sam Cottrell, who were just 18 when they first started the Zen brand aged just 18, firstly as a clothing range,  “For us we just wanted to create the best event we could think of, we just wanted to include all the different things that we enjoy personally and could think of and turn it into a reality. We’re not just here to make money, we want the event to be the best it can be. You’ll definitely see us in the crowd on the day enjoying ourselves. We really are our own target audience.”

This year the festival will be bigger and better than ever before but as always will give a platform to smaller local DJs next to international names. This means the likes of Ibiza regulars and chart topping house and tech producers Richy Ahmed and ANOTR will be joined by Rossi, Pat Wilson, Max Dean, Ryan Resso, DJ Caspa, Funk Cartel and more to be announced.

ZEN Fest 2021 promises to bring some special vibes back into your life. It will be a much needed chance to cut loose, forget your daily woes and step into a magical music wonderland where majestic new memories await to be made.

Bristol Party Lakota Kickstart Summer with an Epic Two-Day Post Pandemic Parties

Lakota – https://www.facebook.com/events/431541688149372

Let’s party like it’s 1992! The year Lakotas doors first opened.Lakota kickstart summer with a secret post-pandemic party on the first Saturday lockdown restrictions are fully lifted. With a second part coming the day after!

With all of us having been forced to spend the best part of a year stuck inside, you can be forgiven for being excited for the summer again, as the way out of the latest quarantine begins to gain momentum. And what better to look forward to than a secret party from the brains behind Bristol’s historic nightclub Lakota?

After more than 30 years, rave style events appear to be gaining popularity once more, look no further than Lakota’s upcoming party utopia. On the first Saturday that ‘proper raves’ can take place again (currently 26th June) Lakota will hold their own festival; Summer Of Love which as the name suggests, will pay tribute to the era of raves that took place before the turn of the millennium. Expect disco, house and techno at this massive event. What’s more, due to huge demand a second day (27th June) has now been scheduled, with the music focus for that one shifting to drum & bass, jungle, baseline, UK Funky and Garage sounds.

The ‘Summer Of Love’ facebook event has already gained huge interest on social media, and given that the initial release of tickets sold out in less than 18 hours, the team have warned anyone wanting to join the fun to act fast, as tickets are extremely limited.

The festival’s location is just a short distance from Bristol’s centre, however, the exact location will remain a secret until the day of the event. Return bus tickets will be available to shuttle customers to and from the festival; buses will pick you up from and return you to the center of Bristol. Unlike the ephemeral illegal parties that have sprung up during lockdown, the ‘Summer Of Love’ guarantees nine hours of music covering disco, house, techno, liquid DnB and UK funky from Lakota’s residents and special guests!

After a long and difficult year, the Lakota team are working hard to give everyone something truly special to look forward to and hope to kickstart the summer in a truly memorable way. If you are interested in joining Lakota’s ‘Summer Of Love – Return Of The Day Party’ make sure you buy a ticket soon as a limited release of tickets have just been released – www.lakota.co.uk
