Giving the boys a run for their money on the Main Stage – M.I.A. will be bringing some girl power to EXIT. British artist M.I.A. will perform on Friday 8th July. Renowned for her eclectic compositions combing elements of hip-hop, electronica, dance, alternative and world music M.I.A is back and as incendiary and forward thinking as ever. After two hugely acclaimed albums 2005’s ‘Arular’ and 2007’s ‘Kala’, the global success of Paper Planes, Oscar nominations, and that Grammys performance, M.I.A returned to form with last years release ‘// / Y /’ Recorded in Los Angeles, the album features production from Rusko, Diplo, Blaqstarr and Switch, a collaboration resulting in dubstep bass and grinding industrial noise being added to MIA’s unique armoury of sounds. ‘// / Y /’ draws influence from our technologically changing world, now that our every thought and action is documented and posted for everyone to see. The album is an uncensored screen-grab of 2010 and fans can experience this new material live at EXIT.
Exit Festival are delighted to announce British acid jazz funk supremo Jamiroquai to play the Main Stage. The band needs little introduction, having sold over 25million albums worldwide, a Grammy Award in 1997, released seven albums, half of those reaching the #1 coveted spot, 13 Brit Awards nominations and with the best hat collection in the world, Jamiroquai – acclaimed, era-defying and one of the greatest live bands around – are back. The blistering, poetic, meaty, reflective and inspiring new album ‘Rock Dust Light Star’ is the result of two years work and clearly emphasises a new lease of life in Jay Kay and his band of time-served musician-teammates. This will be a truly electric performance.
Exit’s Main Stage’s After 2am program kicks off with a big bang, with the hottest dubstep movement of the moment – Magnetic Man. Pushing boundaries and forcing dubstep to the mainstream, the trio features Skream, Benga and Artwork. Most recognisably their track ‘I Need Air’ featuring Angela Hunte topped charts worldwide, whilst their self titled debut album impressed even the dubstep purists. Magnetic Man live on Exit’s Main Stage – what more can we say, but BAMM!
Grinderman  will be electrifying the fortress with their growling formidable rock beast of a band! Formed by the suave Nick Cave and featuring the members of The Bad Seeds but ‘badder’, we expect no less than a rampage of strutting and swaggering “mixing horror and black humour with barely tamed musical malevolence” (The Guardian, September 2010).
