Tina's Summer Festival Guide Blog

Tina likes wearing hats. After two cups of coffee she is very nice, before that she doesn’t talk much. She writes about festivals, music events and other random things that catch her fancy, She wrote her first song when she was twelve years old and is currently working on her first novel. In between blogging, writing and song writing, she keeps herself pretty busy by going to gigs and listening to new music; this is considered 'research' and when she reads a magazine or surfs the web its called working, this is most pleasing and she enjoys her life a lot.

So The Big Chill has been cancelled because of the Olympics this year, it got me thinking, where would I rather be for those three weeks, in London at the Olympics or at a festival?

If I spent those three precious weeks of the summer focusing on the Olympics what would I be missing out on? Three weeks is almost the whole summer, I mean, do I want to commit all that time to scary muscley people in tight clothes, or be listening to some proper good music? Here's a list of pro's and cons of following the Olympics versus going to festivals.

Pros

Con

Its once every four years, and this year its right here in the UK, festivals will be here next year.

There will be less mud at the Olympics.

Opportunity to give tourists the wrong directions to places.

Tourists.

Flaming torches are cool.

Water will be expensive.

I can finally learn the national anthem.

I don’t care about learning the national anthem

Its okay to sing the Chariots of Fire theme tune over and over again.

Toilets queues, just as bad as in a festival.

People get medals at the Olympics, no one gets those at festivals.

How much do I care about how fast someone can walk?

I can tell my great grandchildren I was there.

Everyone gets so emotional about the running.

Flaming torches are cool.

I didn't book any tickets for any games, this might cause some issues.

There are hardly ever tiny flags to wave at the at festivals.

Those Olympic mascot things are weird.

This is pretty close, and will need some more deliberation; its a good thing its little while off yet.
